ULVEDHARR Release ‘Fire In The Hole’ Video

Death metal machine ULVEDHARR have released a video for the song ‘Fire in the Hole (Lego version)’.

Here is how the band commented: “This video is nothing more than a tribute from a person who has always believed in us, supporting us for a decade: Fabio Betelli. We have no words to describe the dedication and commitment shown in these years. We decided to give this video justice as we believe that, having created it in stop motion (manually photographing frame by frame) there is no better way than to publish it officially through our YouTube channel. We hope he can keep you company while we wait for a great return to the stages!”

‘World of Chaos’, the latest record by the band, was recorded between February and March 2019 at Underground Studios Sweden in Västerås by Pelle Saether (Månegarm, Necrodeath, Opera IX, Flashcrawl). The amazing artwork was made by the master Paolo Girardi (Inquisition, Firespawn, Manilla Road, Nocturnal Graves). The album features a very special guest appearance by late Lars-Göran Petrov (Entombed) on the song ‘Death Stare’.

MORDRED Release Video For Single ‘Demonic #7’ From Upcoming Album ‘Dark Parade’, Out July 23rd

MORDRED have released their new video for single ‘Demonic #7‘, the first track taken from upcoming new album ‘Dark Parade‘, out 23rd July on M-Theory Audio. No explicit lyrics.

The influential San Francisco alternative thrash metal act MORDRED have unleashed the music video for their new song “Demonic #7.” The clip, which was produced by graphic artist Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art (Flotsam and Jetsam, Skindred), can be viewed below.

“Demonic #7” is the first taste of “The Dark Parade,” MORDRED’s first full-length album in over 25 years. Set to be released by M-Theory Audio on July 23, the record – which will be offered on CD, digital, cassette, blue vinyl with orange splatter and a limited-edition, mail-order exclusive white vinyl variant – can be pre-ordered now at smarturl.com/mordred

“Timing on the release of ‘Demonic #7’ comes at a point when the USA and many countries around the world seem more divided than they’ve ever been in our lifetime,” explains guitarist Danny White. “As we begin to hopefully and tentatively emerge from the self-imposed cocoon of covid, we ask ourselves if things will start to get better, or will it be a case of just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, ’There are realms even lower than hell.’”

“Demonic #7” includes special guest Christian Powell (Othello’s Revenge), who plays guitar and contributed to writing. In addition, “The Dark Parade” features five-sixths of the personnel from MORDRED’s acclaimed 1991 record “In This Life,” plus new drummer Jeff Gomes (formerly of Fungo Mungo and MIRV). The album is the follow-up to their acclaimed 2020 EP “Volition,” and their first full-length record since 1994’s “The Next Room.”

Outside of their 2015 single “The Baroness,” “Volition” – which is available for purchase at https://m-theoryaudio.com/store  – marked the first new MORDRED music since the band’s 2013 reunion. The four songs on that effort saw the group return to the scene with a revitalized energy and successfully recapture their classic sound, which is rooted in thrash metal but veers off the straightforward path for more adventurous musical explorations by utilizing funk-infused musicianship and hip-hop influences. “The Dark Parade” is the continuation of the aural momentum that MORDRED regained on “Volition” and showcases a band that sounds as fresh now as they did during their initial decade of existence.

MORDRED was formed in 1984 as the burgeoning Bay Area thrash scene was beginning its rise to global prominence. While mosh-inducing thrash formed the basic blueprint of their sound, MORDRED stood out as a unique presence thanks to their integration of alternative and hip-hop influences. The group was one of the first Bay Area bands to explore those diversities in extremes, but as the dexterous bass performance of Art Liboon and innovative turntable work from band collaborator Aaron “DJ Pause” Vaughn provided a new spin on the thrash metal genre, MORDRED retained their metallic bark thanks to groove-laden shred from guitarists Danny White and James Sanguinetti and energetic shout-along choruses spearheaded by vocalist Scott Holderby. That combination of thrash metal and exploratory funk powered three full-lengths and an EP on Noise Records between 1989 and 1994: their revered debut “Fool’s Game”; their eclectic sophomore follow-up “In This Life”; the “Vision” EP and their final – until now – record, “The Next Room.”

In addition to spending their 2020 releasing “Volition” and putting the finishing touches on “The Dark Parade,” MORDRED also entertained audiences throughout the year with their streaming variety show and concert series, “MORDRED: Acting The Fool!” Episodes from the series, which includes live performances by the band, guest appearances, burlesque performances, along with a healthy dose of sketch comedy and short films, can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/mordredband/.

More information on MORDRED and “The Dark Parade” will be unveiled by M-Theory Audio in the weeks to come, and by MORDRED at www.facebook.com/MordredBand.

HELLOWEEN Guitarist Says “There is a Queen & Judas Musical Aspect To The New Helloween Album”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 28, 2021

Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke with HELLOWEEN’s guitarist  Michael Weikath about the reunited classic line-up and the new upcoming studio album on June 18 via Nuclear Blast.

How did the band  reunite to create this album?
“It just happened on the way we have been doing the shows and then someone said you have to do a Pumpkins United track (single), which we did. Then we had these concerts (Pumpkins United ) and everything went so well, which had people crying in the first rows. it went so well we kept going. It was enjoyable and someone said because you have done the Pumpkins United recording (one single) and you proved that you can, you will have to do an album. The fans said so, the media said so, the record company said so and management said so and then we said yes.”

When asked about the musical style of the new album
“We did try to put some Queen parts in it. Also Kai Hansen has a Brain May Audio Plug in which he also used wherever he could and that is the Queen aspect of it we always forget to mention. There is a bit of Judas Priest in there cause I wanted to mimic Priest Riffs or things they are known for on their older albums because they are so compatible with Helloween stuff. The album is magic in the way that it comes across and the way it sounds. Also everything was transferred onto analogue tape and mixed by analogue means.”

Why did Michael Kiske not contribute as a songwriter on the new album?
“Kiske said to me I guess I quit for this time (meaning not contributing a song) He said I got so so many ideas but it did not sound so much like Helloween, it sounded more like poppy or country stuff, the way I understood. And that was ok cause we had enough of other music and he had stuff  to do being involved in a full fledged Helloween production like this. He (Kiske), arranged with Deris the vocal lines. So I guess that was already a plethora of things to be done  without one of his own tracks being produced.”

Produced by Charlie Bauerfeind and Dennis Ward, the new HELLOWEEN LP was recorded in part at the H.O.M.E. Studios in Hamburg (where everything started in 1984). The same recording console used for such HELLOWEEN albums as “Master Of The Rings”, “Time Of The Oath” and “Better Than Raw” was utilized to record the band’s new material. The effort was mixed at the Valhalla Studios of Ronald Prent (IRON MAIDEN, DEF LEPPARD, RAMMSTEIN).

Track listing:
01. Out For The Glory
02. Fear Of The Fallen

Norway’s HALCYON DAYS are back, in-your-face, bringing forth an incredibly fresh metalcore sound! Their brand new single “Awakening” is out now, and you can listen to it here: https://orcd.co/awakeninghalcyondays

With aggressive metalcore riffs, punchy breakdowns and an overall melodic hardcore vibe, Halcyon Days remind of the very best days that bands like Architects and While She Sleeps had in their early years, while delivering a stellar production. “Awakening” is a track of pure joy and will fascinate you with its spectacular melodies, modern synthesizer sounds and a great vocals performance! As the band states: “Awakening is a high pace energetic metalcore track about being a «functioning substance abuser» – after turning to self-medicating through rough times. We finally bring back our heavier side and aggressiveness since our 2018 album “Rain Soaked Pavements & Fresh Cut Grass”. With “Awakening”, we pave the way for our new sound and of what’s to come.”

“Awakening” is the first single off the upcoming album, which will be released this Fall via Indie Recordings!

Based out of Oslo, Norway, Halcyon Days are a hard-hitting melodic metal band. Since their beginning in 2012, they have released two EP’s, and two albums. Their debut album ‘.ELEVATE’ was frequently playlisted and recommended on Norway’s national radio, NRK P3. Two years after their debut album, they released their self-titled EP in 2016, scoring more than 350k total streams on digital platforms.

The EP was met with an amazing response worldwide, putting the band on the map outside of Norway. The band signed with Indie Recordings and released their second full-length album, with the title “Rain Soaked Pavements & Fresh Cut Grass” June 15 2018. Metal Trenches (US) stated that the album is “one of the better metalcore releases of the year”, while PureGrainAudio (CAN) defined it as “a superb example of melodic metal/hardcore.”

The release hit 1 Million streams on Spotify and landed the band their first big shows outside of Norway at festivals like Summer Breeze Open Air, Reeperbahn Festival and High Five Summerfest. The band have been working with legendary names in Metal as Daniel Bergstrand, Fredrik Thordendal and Henrik Udd for their upcoming third full-length album due autumn 2021 via Indie Recordings.
