THE MAMMUTHUS Give Life To ‘Last Trumpet Of A Giant’

Swedish psychedelic rock group THE MAMMUTHUS are back from the permafrost with a new album called Last Trumpet Of A Giant. The album consists of nine songs and the listener will recognize the unique blend of rock elements that has become The Mammuthus’ formula. On Last Trumpet Of A Giant, all the bands members have contributed more than before in the writing process which reflects positively on the material and once again producer Gustav Ydenius has created a sound that feels both retro and fresh.

Some might say the new album is even more diverse than its predecessor, Forever Tree, released in 2019. Ostrich Man, a song about how we tend to put our heads in the sand, might be the closest to The Beatles that the band has ever come, whereas Yanar Dag (The Burning Mountain) is as filthy as the blues gets, praising the burning cliffs in Azerbaijan. The Raven is a majestic doom ballad and Wildfire offers clear echoes from the 70’s in its hard swinging 6/8 beat and a message about spreading good deeds. Riddles takes the listener on a journey to a mystical stone island and in the title track Last Trumpet Of A Giant, The Mammuthus’ signatures are all there – rolling guitar riffs, thundering drums, rock solid bass lines and a killer chorus about the coming end of the world. Unfortunately a theme that feels right on point these days!

Last Trumpet Of A Giant | Released May 4th, 2021 via Sliptrick Records

Icelandic Tech Death battalion OPHIDIAN I will be releasing their new album, ‘Desolate,’ on July 16, making it their debut to Season of Mist! The band is now sharing the explosive first single, “Diamonds,” along with a music video, which was created by Guilherme Henriques. The clip is available at THIS LOCATION.

OPHIDIAN I comments, “With ‘Desolate,’ we set out to create a very technical album but with a strong emphasis on harmony and songwriting. With ‘Diamonds’ being written late in the process and at a point where we had become comfortable with the direction and sound of the band; it came together very quickly and truly embodied the spirit of what we’d been going for. We spoke to Guilherme about making a video for this song and he was quick to get on board with the concepts we brought to him. The end result came out fantastic and we are ecstatic to bring you ‘Diamonds.’“

“Diamonds” is available for pre-saving on all digital platforms HERE. Pre-orders are now live HERE

Prog Legends GENTLE GIANT Release Video For Steven Wilson Remix Of ‘Just The Same’

Prog Legends GENTLE GIANT’s “Free Hand”, remixed by Steven Wilson, is now available for Pre-order. The album will be released on 25th June.

GENTLE GIANT have just released their video for the Steven Wilson remix of ‘Just The Same’  which you can see here:

“Free Hand” was Gentle Giant’s seventh album originally released in July 1975. This album was the most commercially successful of the band’s career reaching the top 40 albums in Billboard Magazine. It stands as the culmination of the band’s maturity, following the successes of “In A Glass House” & “The Power & The Glory”.

Having toured Europe & North America non-stop in the years prior to this release with artists like Jethro Tull, Yes, Frank Zappa etc, the band had gone from strength to strength. By the time “Free Hand” was released Gentle Giant had become a major headliner in its own right. All the members were multi-instrumentalists. The band was never afraid of surprising an audience with a 4 part recorder ensemble followed by a vibraphone solo, all the while rocking the audience and thoroughly enjoying themselves onstage at the same time.

Gentle Giant’s albums featured many songs with both literary subjects as well as social and personal commentary on life as rock musicians. “Free Hand” has more than most. The album’s title & first track was named “Freehand” because the band had just changed record labels and management and felt unshackled by prior contractual obligations. Putting these issues behind them upon its first release, Gentle Giant embarked on an extensive tour of North America and Europe, plus a short tour of the UK, to promote the album. The incredible range of Gentle Giant’s music is evident throughout this album. From the intricate vocal fretwork of “On Reflection” and the delicate medieval flavor of “Talybont” the Celtic-tinged rock of “Time To Kill” and the jagged rhythms of “Just The Same” all those diverse elements which made the band so strikingly original are skillfully blended and perfectly executed.

Award winning producer and musician Steven Wilson has added his delicate touch in remixing “Free Hand” in Dolby Atmos & 5.1 surround sound. His tonal range and painstaking attention to sound quality make “Free Hand” sound as fresh today as it did on first release. A fitting tribute to the compositional skills and expertise of five dedicated musicians.Steven Wilson’s remixed version of “Free Hand” will be released in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound and accompanied by custom animated visuals for each track on Blu-ray. In addition, the original flat mix, original 1975 quad mix and an instrumental mix will all be included in a digipak CD.

A double vinyl album will also be released with both the original flat mix and the Steven Wilson remixed version. The initial first pressing will include a limited edition transparent red version. Releasing June 25, 2021

WICHER Reveal Debut Album ‘Czary i Czarty’ Details

When it comes to marriage of folk and metal, we can find a lot of examples, better or worse. Folk instruments, influences, arrangements, or whole parts of the songs even. But what about folk per se, in its purest form? How many extreme metal labels, would be bold enough to release such an album? Not many. But we, Godz ov War Productions, were never stopped by any boundaries or stereotypes. Even folk can be extreme, and that is why we are proud to present you WICHER and their first full-length album ‘Czary i Czarty’. It will be released as a CD and digital format on May 21st, 2021.

‘Czary i Czarty’ marks the debut of the band. It consists of seven songs and lasts about thirty minutes. Enigmatic trio uses only traditional instruments which gives you true and pure connection with the roots of the music. Lyrical concept is based upon the book “Czary i Czarty” by Julian Tuwim, one of the most influential Polish poets and authors of XX century. The title of the album, which tranlates to “Witchcraft and Devils” is the direction where to look, to find Wicher‘s art. Its soul is hidden in dark forests, full of demons and ancient deities, trying to grasp your soul and body. And so does the music itself. The sound is pure, ethnic and rooted deeply in the past, yet not quite obvious and traditional as you may think. It is a journey through the hidden and dark part of the times forgotten, long gone beliefs and rituals being held far from the human eye. Wicher, which translates to „strong wind” not only brings the atmosphere, but also a lot of energy and power. Imagine a mad dance with devils and demons, between old and dark trees, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, where the time and space is gone. If you can, you might be able to understand what this album is all about. Just might.

Album was recorded at Golgotha Studio, during summer 2019 and summer 2020. Recorded and mixed by P. Mixed and mastered by Haldor Grunberg (Satanic Audio). Choruses and howls were recorded by P., D., Necrosodom, Madness and Robert von Ritter. Text fragments were taken from the book “Czary i Czarty polskie” by J. Tuwim and legends of Swietokrzyskie. Tracklist:
1. Gusła
2. Nieś Biesie nieś!
3. Czary i Czarty
4. Gdy noc nadeszła…
5. Do lasu weszła
6. …
7. Nim nastanie świt

Hailing from Ravenna, Italy, up & coming heavy psych rock trio CRIPTA BLUE have inked a worldwide record deal with Argonauta Records for the release of their debut album in September 2021!

CRIPTA BLUE were formed in 2019 by members of bands like Desert Wizard, Thrash act Rising Dark and Talismanstone. Being no strangers to the heavy music scene and following their noisy musical passion, the trio plays a revitalizing blend of psych rock, brutal heavy blues and old school sounds of the NWOBHM doom rock era between Blue Cheer, May Blitz and Saint Vitus. The baritone voice of bassist and vocalist Andrea Giuliani are shrouded by acid and fuzz rock soundscapes, full of power blues with the soul of doom.

CRIPTA BLUE‘s first and self-titled album is slated for a release in September through Argonauta Records, and one can only sense, this debut may be a strong contender for several Best-Of 2021 lists. Watch out for many more updates and first album singles to follow in the weeks ahead!

Sydney, AUS deathcore quintet TO THE GRAVE have released a lyric video for ‘Recoil In Horror’, taken from their new album, Epilogue, out now via Unique Leader Records.

‘Recoil In Horror’ is the final moment of Epilogue’s journey, closing the album in an abrupt, violent few minutes. The lyrics drive home what it must feel like to be an animal in their last moments before slaughter. An hour of misery, frustration and horror halted by an inevitable yet surprisingly visceral climax.

The lyrics drive home what it must feel like to be an animal in their last moments before slaughter. An hour of misery, frustration and horror halted by an inevitable yet surprisingly visceral climax.

To The Grave recently announced the Epilogue Tour for August in Australia with special guests Earth Caller. The response has been overwhelming with Sydney and Melbourne selling out within 24 hours of going on sale and Brisbane only having a handful of tickets left. Due to demand, they have added extra shows in Sydney and Melbourne. See the band’s social media pages for dates.

To The Grave‘s objective has always been to create sonically and thematically heavy music, charged with a grim, confronting message. Featuring their entire self-released debut album Global Warning, plus seven new songs, Epilogue is a huge 19 tracks of intense brutality.

After releasing the No Lives Matter extended play and touring Australia relentlessly with the likes of Alpha Wolf, Justice For The Damned and Gravemind, To The Grave put themselves firmly on the global metal map in 2019 with Global Warning. Closing 2019 as main support for Vulvodynia on their Australian run and opening a show for Cattle Decapitation elevated them further, earning them sold out headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
