LEACH Release New “Serenade” Video

Swedish thrashers LEACH have premiered a new video for their track “Serenade” via Ghost Cult Magazine, at this location.

If it’s burly, melodic, and fits together perfectly, it’s probably from Sweden. LEACH certainly fall into the above categories, and their warts-and-all style of thrash ‘n’ roll is just begging for a throwdown.

Lovely Light of Life is their third major rodeo and, straight out of the gate, it’s a thrash, hardcore and rock ‘n’ roll mission statement. LEACH have established a style and sound which is wholly theirs and which makes them stand out from the crowd. Lovely Light of Life will be released worldwide on May 21st on the American label Brutal Records.

The record features a varied yet cohesive collection of relentlessly chugging grooves and anthemic riffs carved out of the foundation of rock itself. The band is anything but a one-trick pony and has a distinctive knack of using dynamic changes and sonic shifts to keep listeners captivated. LEACH know how to get the pit started and can keep their audience hooked in until the very last track.

To top it off, the production strikes a perfect balance between crisp and rough-‘n’-ready – a tip to the skills of Christian Silver at Studiomega (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Soilwork, Dragonforce).

Lovely Light of Life also includes a bonus track, “D.O.D”, featuring Soilwork vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid – a fact that the band is clearly delighted with:-
Getting Björn to feature on one of our songs is of course a big deal. Us growing up in Sweden, Soilwork were such a big influence on us — still are. And Björn, being the pro he is, absolutely nailed it on the first try. Stoked to have him on one of our songs and definitely something we now can check off our bucket list.

Coming from such a rich music scene as Sweden’s, a band cannot help but take some influence from their forefathers. In this case, the insistent energy of Raised Fist, the rock ‘n’ roll parts of latter-day Entombed, and the infectious melodies of The Haunted are all evident in LEACH‘s sound. The US also gets a look in, with Hatebreed’s snarling bravado and the thrash-fest of Exodus and Nuclear Assault all figuring into the melting pot.

LEACH is a band built for the stage and, with live experiences that stretch from Europe to Dubai, the power and reach of their frantic energy has been proven. They are now hungry and eager to bring their sonic onslaught to all corners of the world.

Polish CIEŃ Announce New Album ‘Redemption’

When one thinks about Polish black metal scene, few names appear instantly. However, exploring deeper parts of underground, one can find true hidden gems, that will soon rise to their glory. One of them is Kraków based horde CIEŃ, which is on the brink of a new opening. The third full length album, called ‘Redemption’, set to be released later this year, is, in many ways, like a new chapter for Polish outfit. Since early stages of their existence, they cooperated with Old Temple, where two full-lengths and two EPs were released. Now, we can proudly announce that their upcoming full length album, recorded with new vocalist Ashgan (ex-Blaze of Perdition) and new guitarist Lycain (also Pandrador), will be released under the banner of Godz ov War Productions this fall.

The new album brings six new compositions and will last about fifty minutes. And as Ashgan brought to the band not only a new voice, but a whole spectrum of madness behind it, the band did the same with the music. The new face of Cień consists of more harsh, aggressive, pure and wild black metal, yet still full of haunting melodies and misanthropy. Riffs are stronger, voices are louder, battery is more powerful than ever before. ‘Redemption’ marks the rise of yet another Polish black metal beast in true vein of the genre. The rise of the shadow!

The band confirms: “This album opens a new chapter in our history – a step towards darker, ominous and more violent soundscapes as well as thematic shift in our lyrics touching aspects of spiritualism, liberation and abnegation of dogmas. With the refreshed line-up, including new guitarist Lycain and new lead vocalist Ashgan, we have reached next level of extremity and blackmetal madness.”

Line-up:
Ashgan – Vocals
Gulver – Guitars, Vocals
Lycain – Guitars, Vocals
Prins – Bass
Suffer – Drums

MESSIER 16 Unchain Second Single ‘Lotus’

After four years in the making, Oslo-based MESSIER 16 unbind their debut album “iota”. Aimed at relentlessly contemplative catharsis, this record seeks to dislodge the very bones of your quintessence. In a world of extreme solitude, Messier 16 encourages you to find company in this 53-minute journey of solemn musical atmosphere, to dare wallow in it, and let it be a hearth to which you can dry up. And here we are, at the second pit stop, with the shredder single Lotus.

Lotus, (a metaphor of a seemingly free floating, yet bound entity), represents a fast ride in a short and intense roller coaster. As a lot of other tracks on this album, this is an encouragement for seeking self-help. Musically, the song bursts through blast beats with colorful chord progressions, metaphorically setting the listener in the front seats of an intense ride in a blast beat machine.

Jonas comments on the single:

“This track serves as a stepping stone propelling the album forward towards the end of the record. Its narrative content portrays a breaking free from laid foundations and acknowledging one’s own destructive influences. Lotus also reveals a couple core influences of mine, perhaps At the Gates and Rush would make sense. Also, it’s an absolute banger in my ears.”

Lotus is the second single off their record, released April 30th.

Inspired by bands like ColdWorld, Opeth and Emperor, as well as Stravinsky, Steve Reich and Jon Hopkins, iota is a difficult album to place, but an easy album to embrace. It’s a musical heat blanket of extreme metal, contemporary classical, and earnest choral elements.

All music written by Jonas Ulrik Eide, founder of the band, with the exception of the opening track, written by Alexander Scriabin, and played by the pianist Eirik Haug Stømner. There’s an orchestra piece played by Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. And a heap of aggressively sentimental metal tracks throughout.

The album as a whole is a deep dive in emotional desperation, and hopefully the listener will find it as inspiring, frustrating, melancholic and atmospheric as it can be.

November 2021, Europe and the United Kingdom will shake from the Black Rituals, a chain of selected shows brought by BATUSHKA and BELPHEGOR. Exactly two years after their last show, BATUSHKA will be returning on stage with their Black Liturgy:

“Expect a special spectacle composed of all our releases, and maybe there will be something premiere from the upcoming new album that we are currently working on. Accompanying the shows, we will prepare a limited special release with new songs! This release will be available only during the “Black Rituals” tour. Please note that these songs will not be available in any digital distribution or re-issued later. It will be a one-time opportunity! We’re looking forward to Autumn, and we hope that, together with mighty Belphegor we will perform our Black Rituals that you will not forget for a long time! Be there!”

Only one week before the tour kicks off, BELPHEGOR will premiere their new album via Nuclear Blast records. Thus, everyone who visits the Black Rituals Tour will be the first ones in the world to hear the new masterpiece live. Since 1993, BELPHEGOR have been delivering their select diabolical death musick, and one album after another has nailed down the tightest black/death performances. The band’s lyrics tirelessly explore the darkest, most dismal parts of demonology, witchcraft, and the grand devil, himself.

CROBOT Release New Video ‘Kiss It Goodbye’ Feat. Light The Torch’s Howard Jones

CROBOT and Mascot Records have announced the global release of an EP titled Rat Child on June 18.  The complete track listing features “Mountain” (featuring Frank Bello), “Kiss It Goodbye” (featuring Howard Jones), “Everyone Dies,” (featuring Stix Zadina), and “Rat Child.”

Today, the band and Mascot Records present the music video for “Kiss It Goodbye”. Singer Brandon Yeagley shares, “‘Kiss It Goodbye’ is a complete full-circle moment for us.  We’ve idolized Howard Jones’ ability to pinpoint the perfect melody since picking up our instruments and that dude is on beast mode here.  And those guitars sound like they’re right out of an Alien flick – This one is soaked in acidy-spit!” He continues, “Howard was introduced to us through mutual friends. We have always been huge fans of his melodic footprint and his unique melodies. When we heard he would be interested in writing with us, we were beyond excited. He flew down to Austin and spent a few days in a studio with us. We had a such great chemistry with him and wrote this song.  We thought it was a shoe-in for being a track on Motherbrain but for whatever reason, it didn’t make the cut. It seemed like such a travesty to let such a great song sit on the shelf. So, we’re pumped to let the world hear it now.”  Howard Jones adds, “Had a great time writing ‘Kiss It Goodbye’ with Crobot! Their sound and energy is infectious, and there was no way I was passing up working with them. I hope you all dig it!” The music video was created and directed by William “Wombat” Felch.

On the songs on the Rat Child EP, the band shares, “These Motherbrain leftovers (and new tunes alike), will satiate your tastebuds for some new Crobot riffage. We had the unique opportunity to collaborate with Frankie Bello (Anthrax), Howard Jones (Light the Torch), & Stix Zadina (Steel Panther), with whom we not only value friendship but idolize as well. Whether it’s gritty grooves, ballistic riffs, or that good ol’ Crobot sound you’re yearning for to getcha through, we’ve got just frequencies for ya!  Say hello to our lil’ friends…”

The band’s most recent studio album Motherbrain was a global hit. Cumulative streams surpassed 20 million plays, 14 million of which were of the single “Low Life.” The accompanying music video for the track has been viewed over 1.5 million times, while the song was a Top 10 hit at Rock radio in America with a lengthy 29 week run on the Billboard charts. The follow-up “Gasoline” had a strong run on the U.S. charts as well.
