US Rockers RESIDUAL SELF Go All Out For ‘Revenge’

RESIDUAL SELF have proudly partnered with Sliptrick Records to release their first full length album today, on April 27th, 2021. From 2017-2019, they wrote and recorded the tracks in sessions at studios across the United States. Songs like Beast King and Dark Ascension, which began the recording phases, were done by Marc Amendola at Audio Hotel in CT. Heading across the country, the group then worked with Don DeBiase at Studio D Productions in OH, to create Hex Of Rex and several other new songs. Once DJ/Drummer Trevor MacLean joined in, they created new songs such as Queen Fiend and Mistress Of Pain with Nick Bellmore at Dexters Lab Recording, eventually bringing the album to full form.

During the lock-down from COVID-19 in 2020, Residual Self had time to concentrate and hone their work with Nick Bellmore at Dexters Lab. The band has taken, what they believe to be, 9 of their best songs, all remixed and remastered to create Revenge.

Primarily and a mix between hard rock, grunge and goth, Residual Self utilizes scything guitars, booming effects, thunderous claps of the low-end bass and drums, while their leader Rex grunts, growls, howls, and snarls his way through their apocalyptic journeys. Accompanied by their themes of demons, lust and power, Rex aims to bring forth the “residual self” in us all. Their stark sounds and somber lyrics are designed to awaken the true primal nature and strike one’s soul at its very core, unveiling who you truly are!

Revenge | Released April 27th, 2021 via Sliptrick Records

10,000 YEARS Release New Single “March Of The Ancient Queen”

Stoner/Doom metallers 10,000 YEARS stream their first single “March of The Ancient Queen” via The Sleeping Shaman at this location and release on Bandcamp. Other major platforms coming soon.

Less than a year after their first release, the universally acclaimed selftitled EP, 10,000 Years are back with their first full length effort, aptly titled “II”. Picking up right where the EP left off, “II” continues the story of the ill-fated Albatross-mission and its exploration of time and space through a skullcrushing mixture of stonerrock, doom- & sludge metal.

The album was recorded in the legendary Studio Sunlight with the equally legendary Tomas Skogsberg manning the controls.

The album will be released on vinyl by underground heavyweigths Interstellar Smoke Records with a CD-edition and digital coming from Death Valley Records. Additionally there will be two different cassette editions from Ogo Rekords and Olde Magick Records respectively.

FFO: High On Fire, Black Tusk, The Sword, Kylesa, Mastodon

Having previously played together in the original lineup of Swedish underground heavyweights Pike, Erik Palm (Guitars) and Alex Risberg (Bass/vocals) found their way back to each other, musically, in early 2020. The creative fire reignited and stoked to a burning inferno and through a mutual love of heavy riffs and thundering stonerrock, doom- and sludge metal, 10,000 Years was born.
Finding a drummer would prove to be an easy task and with Espen Karlsen the final piece lay firmly in place. The groove they fell into during the first rehearsal hasn’t stopped rumbling since.
After spending the first half of 2020 writing and rehearsing, 10,000 Years recorded their selftitled debut EP during one weekend in June in the legendary Studio Sunlight with equally legendary producer Tomas Skogsberg. The selftitled EP was released on July 10th 2020 and immediately struck a chord with the heavy underground worldwide and 10,000 Years garnered rave reviews and accolades.
Now, less than a year after their first release 10,000 Years are back with their first full length effort, aptly titled “II”. Picking up right where the EP left off, “II” continues the story of the ill-fated Albatross-mission and its exploration of time and space through a skullcrushing mixture of stonerrock, doom- & sludge metal. The album will no doubt continue to build on 10,000 Years already golden reputation and prove to be an even bigger hit with the heavy masses.

“II” will be available on CD, vinyl and all major digital platforms on June 25th, 2021

GO AHEAD AND DIE Discuss Second Single ‘Toxic Freedom’

Arizona’s GO AHEAD AND DIE will release their self-titled debut album on June 11th via Nuclear Blast Records. GO AHEAD AND DIE is a raw, urgent, unrelenting, thrillingly shocking, and vibrant new band. Today the trio releases the third trailer where they discuss the themes of the second single. Watch as they detail how police brutality influenced the lyrical content of the track and the record as a whole, here:

Born from the mind of creative writer and musician Igor Amadeus Cavalera of HEALING MAGIC and extreme metal icon, and SOULFLY leader Max Cavalera. GO AHEAD AND DIE‘s tempos are wild, with a contempt for modern social ills palpable, its riffs monstrous and captivating. They make angry, spiteful, utterly engaging, spirited extreme music for increasingly extreme times.

Recently, the band released the animated music video for the second single, “Toxic Freedom”. Watch the video created by Costin Chioreanu here:

Max Cavalera comments, “‘Toxic Freedom’ is about police corruption, police brutality, and police racism. It can be seen and felt all around the world. It is about authority killing minorities.“

Igor Amadeus states, “Our leaders abuse their power while thousands are imprisoned and more are murdered every day. ‘Toxic Freedom’ is a protest for those that have suffered at the hands of wrongful police brutality.”

The self-titled debut sees Max and Igor splitting guitar and vocal duties, with utter madman style drumming from Zach Coleman of the blistering BLACK CURSE and critically-acclaimed KHEMMIS. It sounds like a relic from the glory days of thrash, proto-death metal, and filthy rotten punk, the kind of band that would inspire a teenaged thrasher in 1987 to carve the G.A.A.D. logo into a school desk.

Vocals weren’t tracked over and over in the pursuit of some kind of “perfect” takes. Coleman didn’t play to a click-track. The heart and soul of GO AHEAD AND DIE is all about just going for it, the traditional way. Engineer Charles Elliot captured the sessions with the help of Platinum Underground Studio owner John Aquilino. The album was mixed by Arthur Rizk, whose credits include POWER TRIP, CRO-MAGS, and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. The artwork for the album was created by Stewart Easton while the Circle logo was created by Jeff Walker (CARCASS).

Below is the GO AHEAD AND DIE track listing:
1. Truckload Full Of Bodies
2. Toxic Freedom
3. I.C.E. Cage
4. Isolated/Desolated
5. Prophet’s Prey
6. Punisher
7. El Cuco

Infine Records and Elevate Records have reached a partnership agreement with STRATOFORTRESS Project for the release of “Anthems of the world” the official tribute album to StratovariuS which will take place on May 27th.

The album will be marketed and distributed by both labels, and will be released in both physical (CD) and digital versions in all digital stores. “Anthems of the world” is an album that contains 14 highly successful songs completely re-recorded and re-proposed by great artists such as :

Mike LePond (Symphony X), Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson, Vivaldi Metal Project), Beto Vazquez Infinity, Eagleheart, Sunrise , Marko Pukkila (Altaria), Bob Katsionis (Firewind), Patrik J Selleby (Bloodbound, Shadowquest), Juhani Malmberg (guitarist of Timo Kotipelto) to name a few and include the extraordinary participation of Timo Tolkki, Matias Kupiainen and Jari Behm.

Precisely for this reason it is not the classic tribute album but it is the first ever in which current and past members of the paid band participate. This tribute album for us is the best way to say “Thank you!” to current and past members of this band for all the great music they have left us in the legacy. These songs have taught us to play and in a certain sense also to live by giving us strength in the most difficult moments and joy in the most beautiful moments shared in their concerts for example. This album comes from the bottom of our hearts as true StratovariuS fans for true StratovariuS fans.

BENTHOS Confront Negativity With Music Video “Talk To Me, Dragonfly!”

Progressive metal innovators BENTHOS have revealed another new music video and single, this time for the song “Talk To Me, Dragonfly!“. The new video (directed by Stefano Galli) is a fast-paced jazz-infused staccato of progressive metal which brings the listener on a confrontation with one’s negativity resulting in awareness, acceptance, and improvement towards positivity. Watch it right now at this location.

“Talk To Me, Dragonfly!” is the third single from the band’s debut full-length album II which was released this past Friday April 23 via Eclipse Records. The album was produced by Matteo Magni (Anewrage, Deep As Ocean) at Magnitude Recordings.

“Talk To Me, Dragonfly! Is about confrontation with one’s negativity, and reaching a balance through becoming aware, accepting, and improving it” says guitarist Gabriele Papagni. “The video contains two distinctly-different elements: the first consists of macro footage with insects and our singer interacting with his dark inner-self. The video begins in black and white, progressing towards a climax with scenes in color.” Drummer Alessandro Tagliani adds “We chose this song as a single because it is the heaviest and most eccentric song on the album. Shooting this video was particularly challenging because the electric generator broke, and the outdoor shots were full of mosquitos and spider webs!”

II by Benthos is a stunning debut of experimental progressive metal. Featuring seven tracks showcasing the band’s technical prowess, II quickly catapults the band onto the global metal scene alongside the likes of Periphery, Between The Buried And Me, TesseracT, Sikth, and Meshuggah. The album tells a first-person story about the opposing forces of dualism such as life vs death, intuition vs rationality, and finite vs infinite concepts. The first single “Debris // Essence” is an immersion through consciousness represented with a dive into the deepest part of the abyss.  “Cartesio” is the second single off the album which represents the beginning of the inner journey described throughout the album. On II by Benthos there is a lot to digest on this amazing album, but one thing is certain… after you are done digesting this sensory feast you will be wanting more!

Watch the new music video ‘Talk To Me, Dragonfly!’ via YouTube, stream the track on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Deezer, and Amazon Music
