Swedish power metallers VANDOR have signed a multi-album deal with Scarlet Records.
The band came out with their independent debut album ‘In the Land of Vandor’ in 2019, allowing them to share the stage with acclaimed acts such as Sonata Arctica and release the fan-favourite single ‘Well of Salvation’ (featuring Sabaton/Majestica guitarist Tommy Johansson).
They have been described as a “classic European Power Metal band”, something all members of Vandor rejoice over with singer Vide Bjerde chiming in: “I’m ecstatic that people compare our music to my idols even though I personally don’t think we sound like Helloween or Sonata Arctica and other bands I would label as Classic EUPM… But we do have that Northern European twist to our music for sure!”.
What happens next in the land of Vandor?! Just stay tuned…
Dvne are a band of great contrasts, weaving titanic heaviness and intricate gentleness together, complex lyrical ideas with engaging storylines, and this has only been expanded upon and concentrated on second album Etemen Ænka. “It’s an album that has a narrative musically, and we hope that will encourage the listener to explore the universe we’ve created around it,” states guitarist/vocalist Victor Vicart. “It is a very dense and layered album which will reward multiple listens, and while this is becoming a recurring aspect of our music, we feel that we went further with it this time. It’s also a very polarizing album, emotionally speaking. The heavy sections are, well, very heavy, while the clean sections are much more intricate and delicate – and in a way wouldn’t be out of place in a Studio Ghibli anime soundtrack.” Exploring everything in greater depth in every way, it is a profound step forward from 2017’s Asheran, starting an exciting new chapter in the existence of one of the most thrilling and imaginative metal bands active today. “We knew we wanted to include keys and synths in the equation. We wanted to be able to add new textures and new sounds that weren’t on our previous releases, and we felt that this was something that will give us more options creatively. Looking back, that was a great decision because we’ve used synths for everything, with ambient sounds, heavy subs and actual leads, which really added a new dynamic to this album. We’ve also kept this balance between down-tuned heavy riffs and clean movements, which were already present in ‘Asheran‘, but we really wanted to make sure we could capture more details and subtleties once recorded,” explains Vicart. Synths are in fact so present, and at times so unapologetically 80s, that they sound like the soundtrack to a classic sci-fi, which may well surprise fans, the band confident in every step they took musically.
Etemen Ænka is also Dvne‘s second collaboration with producer Graeme Young in Edinburgh’s Chamber Studio, having developed a great working relationship with him on Asheran – “he acts like an extra member of the band and really pushes us to do better takes.” This made for a smooth and productive recording process, the challenging part coming before they entered the studio. “The composition was challenging because we second guess every riff that gets written. We want to keep things fresh, and we want to keep the energy high too, so the initial creative stage can become intense. Then, because our tracks are pretty big and dense with ideas and movements, we didn’t finalize each track structure until we started laying down the drums. But I think it’s what made the whole recording process so much fun too, because it allowed us to really think about the different options available without committing to a final structure too early in the process.” The record also features guest vocals courtesy of Lissa Robertson, who sings on “Omega Severer” and “Asphodel” and contributes spoken word on “Weighing Of The Heart” – her voice adding yet another depth to the heavily layered collection.
DEATH DEALER have released another song to the public via YouTube and social media, off of their 3rd album, ‘Conquered Lands,’ that was released November 13, 2020 on Steel Cartel Records.
The track – entitled “THE HERETIC HAS RETURNED” – is a sequel to the song “CURSE OF THE HERETIC” off of their debut album WAR MASTER, and can be heard here:
Vocalist Sean Peck chimed in, “We went with a very fan driven campaign that was greatly supported. There were only a few songs we let the streaming services have so you had to purchase it and support the band and support heavy metal to hear the whole thing. We all decided that maybe it would be cool to let another song out there so that people could hear more of what all the hype was about and maybe grab it before it was all sold out. Because the initial campaign went so well, we hardly have any vinyls left and we are super low on the digipaks too so jump in the deep water with us you will not be sorry. If you love screaming heavy metal that is ha!”
Ross said “I really dig this song we thought about putting the ballad out there 22 GONE which I love but we settled on putting another thrasher for people to hear.”
The all-star heavy metal roster of DEATH DEALER features the aforementioned ROSS THE BOSS (ex-MANOWAR), Sean Peck: vocals (CAGE, THE THREE TREMORS, DENNER/SHERMANN), Stu Marshall: guitar (DUNGEON, NIGHT LEGION), Steve Bolognese: drums (ROSS THE BOSS BAND, INTO ETERNITY), and newly added bass player extraordinaire Mike Lepond (SYMPHONY-X, ROSS THE BOSS BAND).
MAD SYMPHONY have announced their debut self-titled album to be released May 13th worldwide on MR Records. The track “Truth in the Shadows” is now streaming.
“It ain’t over, never over, ‘til we do it all over again!” is the hook-line and rallying cry from Vancouver-based melodic prog-rockers Mad Symphony on their forthcoming single ‘Do It All Over Again.’ While channeling the sounds of classic rock bands such as AC/DC, The Who and Led Zeppelin, Mad Symphony infuses their songs with modern elements of heavy guitars, elaborate keyboards and massive vocal harmonies to create a sound that is both contemporary and instantly recognizable by music fans of all ages. Examining the themes of love, loss, and betrayal with songs such as ‘Sell Me Out,’ ‘Reality Check’ and ‘Wasted in Oblivion,’ Mad Symphony seeks to illuminate the pressures and struggles faced by all who live through these confusing and rapidly changing times.
“MR Records is thrilled and proud to have signed Canadian hard rockers “MAD SYMPHONY” to the label and extremely excited to be releasing their debut album “Mad Symphony”. This Album takes you on a musical journey through great musicianship and songs with a real message for the world today. Certainly, an album MR Records fully believes in.” – Peter Hoffmann, Director MR Records
“Mad Symphony’s debut CD represents the hard-rocking soundtrack to the lives of all six band members. Spanning many influences, from the glory days of rock to the present, the sounds of metal, progressive, classic, and symphonic rock music are seamlessly combined with commentary on modern society and culture. Timeless songs for a post-pandemic world.” – Dave Groves, Mad Symphony
Mad Symphony is the collaboration of accomplished and professional Vancouver-based musicians who collectively have many years of experience writing, recording, and touring internationally with various acts. Formed from the ashes of Seattle grunge-metal band Soulbender (which also featured Michael Wilton of Queensryche fame on guitar), lifelong friends and collaborators Dave Groves (guitar) and Wes Hallam (drums) joined up with multi-instrumentalist/producer/engineer Ted Tosoff (Blue Voodoo) in 2018 to begin writing for a new, as-yet-unnamed project. Ted knew of powerhouse vocalist Kevin Wright (The Wilds), whose raunchy and melodic vocal stylings a-la Bon Scott and Robert Plant, fit the new songs perfectly; Kevin was quickly recruited into the fold. To round out the lineup, the formative members didn’t have to look far. Dave and Wes had both played with keyboardist Mike Russell (Sweeney Todd) and bassist Amrit Prasad (Assault), but not always in the same bands or at the same time. With the addition of Mike on keys and Amrit on bass Mad Symphony immediately began recording their debut album and rehearsing tirelessly.
With the goal of creating memorable and powerful music that resonates with the listener both in style and substance, Mad Symphony writes songs with a message of hope and resiliency that harkens back to the glory days of rock and roll. Screaming guitars, driving drums, and huge vocals combine with melodic keyboard orchestrations and thundering bass to make the sonically dense and raucous sound that is… Mad Symphony.

Sicily occult doom metal heavy weights, SATYRUS, who just recently signed a worldwide record deal with Argonauta Records, have revealed more album details about their first full-length album!
The four-piece self-released their debut Rites in March 2020, when they quickly gained the attention by several labels and heavy doom metal fans around the globe. Now, Argonauta Records is going to release the album as CD and Digital formats on May 28, 2021, and added a new track to their label channel.
Featuring members of bands alike Malauriu or Wolvesguard, SATYRUS invites its listener on a slow and dark ride into the abyss of doom heaviness. The band members‘ backgrounds allow them to create a wider field in between the doom, black metal, psych and progressive sounds to classic and occult metal.
Give ear, and listen to the heavy doom juggernaut, Stigma, taken from SATYRUS‘ Rites, here:
“Rites is an album that digs into the old school occult music influenced by the likes of such as Coven, Black Widow or Sabbath, but with kinda new fuzzy sound, some black metal atmosphere and, especially our love for the occult.” The band states. “We hope you enjoy our sound and the ones who decide to buy this record, will be surrounded by pure and lisegic dark and heavy music.”
Not long to go now before SUPERLYNX‘s third full-length album “Electric Temple” hits the streets, and in anticipation if its release, Dark Essence Records have released a new single from the album, along with an accompanying video.
The single in question is the “Laws of Nature”, the seventh track from the ten-track album, and is a song that the band reckons is the perfect example of what happens when the three individuals that make up SUPERLYNX, become one. As they explain:
Laws of nature is one of the songs on the album where you can really hear our three different expressions becoming one. Pia’s calm, heavy, minimalistic style and Daniel’s dreamy, melodic guitar playing meets Ole’s dynamic drums going from chill beats into a blasting energy at the end.
The track is one of the more hopeful songs on the album. It comes from a place of convincing oneself to remember that after darkness comes a new dawn, and clinging to something as certain as the laws of nature in hope of brighter times, not only in nature but also personally.
Known for their distinctive, genre-defying sound that combines doom, psychedelic and meditative atmospheres with heaviness and droning rock SUPERLYNX’s lineup comprises Pia Isaksen on Bass and Vocals, Daniel Bakken on Guitars and Ole Teigen on Drums, piano, keys and vocals. Their latest album, “Electric Temple”, is both a continuation on from their previous album “New Moon” and a further development of moods not previously explored by the band. Poignantly, “Electric Temple” also bears a deeply felt mark left by the tragic death of a close family member.
Recorded and produced by Ole Teigen in his studio Crowtown Recordings, and with album artwork by Pia Isaksen and photos by Julia Naglestad and Carl Eek, track listing for “Electric Temple” is as follows:
1. Rising Flame 2. Electric Temple 3. Apocalypse 4. Moonbather 5. Sonic Sacrament 6. Returning Light 7. Laws of Nature 8. Then you Move 9. Siren Sing 10. May
“Electric Temple” will be available in CD, Digital and Vinyl formats on the 16th April , and can be pre-ordered from the following:
