When matchless vocalist/guitarist Alexi Laiho and guitarist Daniel Freyberg joined forces with Waltteri Väyrynen, Mitja Toivonen and live keyboardist Vili Itäpelto to form the explosive new metal pillar BODOM AFTER MIDNIGHT, it was meant to mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Their sonic plans were massive – including an EP release in the spring followed by a full-length album later in the year. But this promising force ended far too soon in very late 2020.

The aforementioned EP, Paint the Sky with Blood (out April 23 via Napalm Records), was recorded in Finland back in 2020, and now, the three-track piece embodies a whole new meaning. Paint the Sky with Blood is an overwhelming tribute to an outstanding artist and an exceptional sonic heritage and at the same time, a modern homage to the genre itself.

Today, Napalm Records has released the EP’s opening title track alongside an official video. A storm of raging guitars and blaring drums rise, merging with the late Alexi Laiho’s versatile vocal power and leading up to a heavy attack, conjuring fond memories of the virtuosic musician.  “Paint the Sky with Blood” demonstrates the unbridled passion and virtuosity of an legendary artist who set new standards in metal and became a role model for a whole generation of fans.

“Like ourselves, Alexi was beyond stoked about these songs and anxious to get these out, so we are happy that we can fulfill his wish. Needless to say, we are honored and proud to be a part of his very last creative work and to unleash it the way he wanted it. It’s time to let the beast out of the cage one more time as a celebration of Alexi’s music, legacy and the man himself.” – BODOM AFTER MIDNIGHT

Heavy title track “Paint the Sky with Blood” sets the stage for the 14 minute EP of the same name and is strikingly reminiscent of early-CHILDREN OF BODOM elements, while also adding exciting modern influences into the fold.  Second stunner “Payback’s A Bitch” and its massive riffing are on a quest for retribution, delivering a hard-hitting, second to none offense. The interplay of Alexi Laiho, guitarist Daniel Freyberg, drummer Waltteri Väyrynen (Paradise Lost), bassist Mitja Toivonen (ex-Santa Cruz) and live keyboardist Vili Itäpelto is not only a testament to the band’s extraordinary musical ability, but also showcases their skill in deftly incorporating a variety of genre influences.

Closing cover track “Where Dead Angels Lie” is an absolute triumph – originally performed by Swedish extreme metal formation Dissection, the track shines as a timeless classic with a new edge. Eerie riffs and vocals alternating between menacing murmurs and characteristic guttural, distorted vocals stay faithful to the original while branding this version with an undeniable BODOM AFTER MIDNIGHT punch.

02. Payback’s A Bitch

SNAKE BITE WHISKY Release Video For ‘Hammered’

Black Candy is the thunderous second album from Australian heavy rock band, SNAKE BITE WHISKY. The album was recorded at Lush Studio’s in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia which has also seen artists such as Jason Bonham, Jimmy Barnes, Jeff Martin and The Red Paintings to name a few. Produced and mixed by Bernie Wedrat, Black Candy features ten tracks of uncompromising heavy sleaze rock with elements of punk, outlaw country and heavy metal. This is their follow up to their acclaimed debut album, This Side Of Hell, and displays an even wider range of musical influence coupled with their trademark uncompromising, non politically correct rock N’ roll.

Black Candy is also the first recording featuring the talents of new members Danny Sharkz on drums and Laggy on Guitars, who joined after the previous drummer and guitarist unceremoniously quit on the eve of the 2019 U.K tour. Together with original members, vocalist/lyricist Jay R and bass guitarist, Stacii Blake they have crafted ten tracks born out of the filthy underbelly of heavy rock.

The band has gained a reputation for not caring for trends and doing whatever they want musically regardless of consequence on their debut album and they continue that trend on Black Candy. From the high octane Southern metal influenced opener, Thunderbird to the pulsating sleaze of Choke to the Iggy Pop-esque ode to partying, Hammered, the album never lets up on it’s intensity.Nnot even on Bones In The Fire, a heavy metal soaked, outlaw country dirge. Explosive lead guitar work from Laggy peppers the album with his trademark screaming solo’s and huge, catchy riffs adding to the signature Snake Bite Whisky sound. Stacii Blake once again brings his dirty bass riffs, notably on Creep Show (an anthem for the outcasts of society), with murderous intent on the driving rhythm of Reload, Aim And Kill and with lots of fuzz and groove on the aforementioned, Hammered. Danny Sharkz brings a massive drum sound to the mix with tight rhythms and thunderous fills highlighted in tracks such as Raised In Hell, Sweet Cocaine and Dead By Dawn. Jay R once again draws from life experiences to paint a lyrical picture of the band’s debauched life. Everything from sex, revenge, drinking and hard living are covered across the ten tracks, at times delving into dark themes such as drug addiction on the epic album closer, End Of The Line and a man’s place in today’s politically correct society on Bones In The Fire.

So take a shot of Snake Bite Whisky in the form of Black Candy. This party is just getting started!

Black Candy | Released March 30th, 2021 via Sliptrick Records

Track Listing:
01. Thunderbird | 02. Raised In Hell | 03. Creep Show | 04. Choke | 05. Bones In The Fire | 06. Reload, Aim, Kill | 07. Sweet Cocaine | 08. Hammered | 09. Dead By Dawn | 10. End Of The Line

Hark back to the glory days of 70’s Rock ‘n’ Roll as SLAMDINISTAS deliver a sound that perfectly blends US and UK influences of the era.

SLAMDINISTAS bring raw, in-your-face, street rock and roll.  Their song ‘Brand New Day’ recevied massive radio respect, including regular play on Rodney Bingenheimer’s Sirius XM radio show on “Underground Garage”. This, and their incendiary live show at a label honcho’s Halloween Birthday Bash brought SLAMDINISTAS to the attention of Die Laughing Records/Golden Robot Records. What next? The prestigious label signed them immediately

Slamdinistas influences range from 70’s English PubRock, Punk & Classic Rock, and especially the British scene, ala Stones and Faces, recalling the Glory Days of Rock + Roll.

Each band member has made claim to his own piece of music history – as they say, “Guilty by association!” by the music groups they’re associated with. Gabriel Johns, Vocals, Longtime singer songwriter, LA Club Booker and worked with his own bands Shelter, FiDo. Loren Molinare, Guitars and Producer, a Detroit transplant who’s band, The Dogs, have left a serious mark on the seminal Punk/Detroit rock scene. Also for Little Caesar and Michael Des Barres & The Mistakes. Michael Gavigan, guitar, slide guitar and backup vocals.  Also, plays guitar and produced recordings by The Blessings. Paul ILL, bass, has recorded and performed with many artists including The Willie Dixon Family Band, Tina Turner and Linda Perry. Brian Irving, Drums, has worked with Chris Spedding, Gilby Clarke, Glitter Trash.

These fine gents, whose collective roots grip deep in the LA Rock Scene, realized their studio chemistry worked so well it is as if the band had several tours behind them. The sound born that on those fateful sessions brings you: SLAMDINISTAS!

KANSAS, America’s legendary progressive rock band has released the track “Point Of Know Return (Live 2019-20)”, taken from their upcoming, new live album Point of Know Return Live & Beyond out 28th May. The song was recorded on April 4, 2019 at the Balboa Theater in San Diego, CA.

This is the first live album since 2017 for the band that has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and is famous for classic hits such as ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ and ‘Dust in the Wind,’ to progressive epics like ‘Song for America.’

The album is now available for pre-order at: https://kansas.lnk.to/PointofKnowReturn-LiveBeyond

The band recently released a teaser for the live album here: https://youtu.be/6s0kt7BfadM

Point of Know Return Live & Beyond is co-produced by Phil Ehart and Richard Williams, and is recorded and mixed by Chad Singer. The album features 22 songs selected from 12 shows recorded in 2019 and 2020 during KANSAS’s Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour. The setlist includes classic hits, deep cuts, and culminates with the band’s sextuple-platinum album, Point of Know Return, performed in its entirety.

Following the success of the band’s Leftoverture Anniversary Tour, KANSAS followed that tour up with the even more popular Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour. The overwhelming success of that tour, and the previous live album, Leftoverture Live & Beyond, led the band, along with Inside Out Music, to release selected songs from the tour as a live album.

“We knew we wanted to release a live album of the Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour. Being unable to tour for more than a year has given us the opportunity to work on Point of Know Return Live & Beyond and release it for our fans who are missing live concerts as much as we are,” said KANSAS drummer and album co-producer, Phil Ehart. “When we discussed who would mix the album, we thought the best possible person would be the guy who mixes the band live every night and recorded the shows on the road. Nobody knows better how KANSAS sounds live than our front of house engineer, Chad Singer!”

“This live album sounds great,” adds KANSAS guitarist and album co-producer, Richard Williams. “We wanted to make sure this album captures and represents how KANSAS sounds live in concert. Point of Know Return Live & Beyond does just that.”

Along with original KANSAS band members Phil Ehart on drums and Richard Williams on lead guitar, Point of Know Return Live & Beyond, features Tom Brislin on keyboards and vocals, Billy Greer on bass and vocals, Ronnie Platt on lead vocals and keyboards, David Ragsdale on violin and vocals, and Zak Rizvi on guitar and vocals.

Point of Know Return Live & Beyond, will be released May 28, 2021, on Inside Out Music and is distributed by The Orchard. The album will be available as a double CD digipak, triple 180-gram vinyl + 2 CD box-set, and digitally on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes, and other fine digital retailers.

GRAVE MIASMA Unveil Cover Art For “Abyss of Wrathful Deities”

Occult death metal band GRAVE MIASMA have unveiled the cover art for their upcoming new album Abyss Of Wrathful Deities. The artwork was created by Ars Moriendee (DRAHG), and can be seen below.

Abyss of Wrathful Deities will be out on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital formats through Dark Descent Records (US) and Sepulchral Voice (Europe) on May 14th.

Pre-order Abyss of Wrathful Deities at:
Dark Descent Records (US): darkdescentrecords.bandcamp.com
Sepulchral Voice Records (Europe): sepulchralvoicerecords.bandcamp.com

GRAVE MIASMA recently released the official music video for album track “Rogyapa.” Stream it at youtu.be/mzjidD9NptM

Track Listing:

  1. Guardians of Death (05:52)
  2. Rogyapa (06:46)
  3. Ancestral Waters (06:42)
  4. Erudite Decomposition (06:27)
  5. Under the Megalith (06:22)
  6. Demons of the Sand (06:02)
  7. Interlude (01:08)
  8. Exhumation Rites (07:17)
  9. Kingdoms Beyond Kailash (06:15)

Abyss Of Wrathful Deities is GRAVE MIASMA’s latest opus after five years of quiescence. Bone-breaking, aggressive and demonic Death Metal pairs with the accomplished and progressive production of Jaime Gomez Arellano (Orgone Studios), forming a sepulchral miasma which elevates the band’s songwriting to a previously unrivaled level.

Developing on the powerful and dark sound pursued on Endless Pilgrimage, the London trio presents nine distinctively enigmatic tracks on death and resurrection, the demons of far-away lands and Tibetan burial rituals. GRAVE MIASMA are both the circling vulture and the epiphany, equally well-versed in the raw and primitive as they are in technical lead guitar orgies. Music not as a means of style, but as an accurately-wielded sharp scythe.

The reverence to South American titans is obvious, yet the band has the approach of merging (de)composition with creativity, creating a contemporary yet absolutely timeless atmosphere.

Do not gaze long into the abyss, for it will devour you…
