Roman Sludge Rollers IO Unleash Details And Single From Upcoming Album Fire

IO, volcanic and burning moon of Jupiter, where lava flows turn into magma lakes. It’s no wonder why Roman sludge heavy weights IO choose their band name and title for their upcoming debut album, with a sound that heavy, brutal yet warm and cosmic.

Now, the Italian band has revealed more details about their first full- length record, entitled Fire, which will be coming out on May 21, 2021 through Argonauta Records!

Fire contains four long and ultra- heavy sludge tracks, moving between mammoth riffs, trippy fuzz spheres, an enthralling reverb of screams backed by this massive dose of big grooves. IO‘s hazy yet blistering sound equals a cosmic trip into volcanic space dimensions, and without any doubt owns its parallels to an entire moon. Give ear, as the trio just unleashed a second single from their upcoming debut, the album opening track Third Eye! Listen here:

IO burst into the Sludge and Doom scene in 2015, played numerous shows with acts alike Monkey3, OTUS and many more, until they gained the well-deserved attention by one of Italy’s leading heavy music underground labels, Argonauta Records. Fire will be out on May 21, and the pre-sale just went up at THIS LOCATION!

1. Third Eye
2. Fire Walks With us
3. Loki Patera
4. Poseidon (In Lava Sea)

THE MERCY KILLS Release Unique Video Clip For ‘Like You’

The latest video by Australian hard rockers THE MERCY KILLS is for their track ‘Like You’ which was featured on the 2020 release X celebrating the bands ten years together.

This clip has been specifically designed for a mobile phone ‘vertical’ format so no need to spin that cell. There’s even a bit of a tease during the guitar solo.

TMK wanted the video to express a connection between each band member. The concept was influenced by the old children’s panel books, where you turn the pages to reveal a mix of different heads, bodies and legs.

Watch the official video for Like You HERE

The band worked, once again with Australian film makers, Strongman Pictures to create this strange but striking video.

Listen/Buy X HERE

Mix two parts dirty rock with two parts sleaze punk and you get a four shot cocktail called The Mercy Kills featuring Mark E (Vox/Guitar), Jen X Costello (Bass/Vox), Nathalie Gellé (Guitar/Vox) and Josh Black (Drums).

Their tastes in music, the desire to write great songs and blast out a killer live show were the key factors shared by this four-piece outfit.  The Mercy Kills took their name from a line in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, “It was a mercy killing“.

WINDIR Release Full Discography On Vinyl + Cassette

After the overwhelming response to WINDIR‘s ‘The Sognametal Legacy’ box set, which sold out in 24 hours, the entire discography of the Norwegian black metal veterans is now available for pre-order on black and various colored vinyls as well as cassette formats!

Pre-orders have started immediately and are available in the Season of Mist shop HERE. The release date is set for May 28, 2021.

WINDIR was founded by Terje “Valfar” Bakken in 1994 and released four albums in the period of 1997 – 2003. The Norwegian band gained a massive following with their unique blend of black and heavy metal with elements of old Norwegian folk music. The identity of the group was strongly connected to their home region Sogn, which was demonstrated in the lyrics and in the concepts of the records. Eventually, they invented and adopted the term ‘Sognametal’ for their style.

The band ended abruptly when Terje “Valfar” Bakken died in 2004. The remaining musicians decided to disband WINDIR and formed VREID to march forward, bearing the torch of the Sognametal legacy.

Jarle Hváll Kvåle, bass guitarist and songwriter of VREID and WINDIR, comments on the release: “I am so happy that we are finally able to do this. There has been such a huge demand to release these albums on vinyl and I really have been looking forward to this day. These records are important cornerstones in our lives and represent a time that was very special to us. It is great to have a strong partner on board, and I am very proud that we can do this together with Season of Mist.

Next year marks the 20th anniversary of ‘1184’, and we think this is a great occasion to celebrate this unique album, the most important one in the WINDIR history. With this record, WINDIR became a full band for the first time and it was the first time that me and Terje wrote an album together. It was a time filled with youthful will, aggression, pride, curiosity and of course beautiful naivety.

So, to celebrate this record and the period it represents, we’ll have the entire WINDIR legacy available on vinyl. I can’t wait to get my hands on the physical copies and see no better way to celebrate the legacy and brotherhood of our fallen comrade Terje

SAXON Release ‘Making Of’ Inspirations Documentary

The Mighty SAXON have just released a 16 minute ‘Making Of’ documentary of the forthcoming album, Inspirations. Take a Tour of Brockfield Hall with Biff Byford and SAXON and listen to snippets of unreleased tracks from the release out March 19th!

Saxon’s Inspirations is available on Vinyl, CD, digital formats and limited edition D2C products; for pre-orders go to at this location.

“This was just a great project to be part of. Great songs and great atmosphere! Thought you’d like to have a look behind the scenes.”, says Saxon frontman Biff Byford

Watch/Listen to the recently released singles ‘Paint It Black’ and ‘Speed King’ and ‘Paperback Writer’ here

Inspirations was recorded at Brockfield Hall near York in the UK, which was built in 1804 and holds the largest collection of paintings by Yorkshire’s impressionist artists – the Staithes Group. Maintaining a firm eye on the old school way using Marshall cabs, Marshall amps, real drums and produced by Biff Byford with Jacky Lehmann recording and mixing, Saxon approach the likes of Motörhead’s ‘Bomber’ (with added whistle!), AC/DC’s ‘Problem Child’, Black Sabbath’s ‘Evil Woman’ and a raucous Deep Purple’s ‘Speed King’ with refreshingly warm, unfiltered, “vintage” sounding renditions.

Byford does, indeed, take on some new vocal challenges, which he duly smashes on the likes of Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Rocker’. The net result is that whether cranking up a heavyweight take on Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ or throwing down AC/DC’s ‘Problem Child’, Saxon does a supreme job of entertaining both themselves and their audience throughout Inspirations.

“We didn’t want to change any of the songs too much, just play them more like Saxon and we also think it’s very important to have -and share with the fans- some fun in these dark times.”, concludes Byford

You want even more proof of the validity behind that statement? Wrap your ears around their sparkling take on Toto’s ‘Hold The Line’ and consider Saxon’s Inspirations a mission accomplished.

MARILLION To Release Special Live Album “With Friends At St David’s” In May 2021

On May 28th, MARILLION will release their new live album “With Friends At St David’s”, recorded in Cardiff in November 2019.

It all started with the release of “With Friends From The Orchestra” in 2019, when Marillion teamed up with “In Praise of Folly”, a string quartet accompanied by Sam Morris (French Horn) and Emma Halnan (Flute), to record a stunning album full of re-arranged Marillion treasures.

That same year, Marillion took these very special versions on tour and even added a few more highlights like “Gaza” and “Zeperated Out” to the setlist, presenting them in a whole new light.

“With Friends At St David’s” is not only a visually and sonically remarkable live album, but also a dedication to crossing musical boundaries and making “friends” outside of one genre and musical universe. The Blu-ray of this release offer even more, as they come with the previously unreleased documentary “Making Friends“, which shows Marillion in the studio during the making of “With Friends From The Orchestra”.

With this release, Marillion offer a special treat to the fans and sweeten the wait for their new studio album currently in the works, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed and chart-topping “F*** Everyone And Run (F E A R)”.

Steve Hogarth about the album and tour: “Possibly our favourite ever tour. A chance for us to occasionally pause and lose ourselves in our six “classical” musicians interpreting our Producer Mike’s beautiful arrangements, bringing another emotional dimension, and often a playful joy to our music.”

“Seasons End”, originally from 1989’s album of the same name, is the first song to be revealed from this album along with an official video that grants an exclusive peak into a special and emotional evening, recorded on the 16th November 2019 during the Friends From The Orchestra Tour.

The official video can be watched below.

“With Friends At St David’s” is going to be released on earMUSIC as CD Digipak, 3LP Gatefold (180g), Ltd. Coloured 3LP (Violet transparent), DVD and Blu-ray on May 28th, 2021.

KANSAS, America’s legendary progressive rock band, will release their new live album Point of Know Return Live & Beyond on May 28, 2021. This is the first live album since 2017 for the band that has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and is famous for classic hits such as ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ and ‘Dust in the Wind,’ to progressive epics like ‘Song for America.’ The band released a teaser for the live album here:

Pre-order starts 26th March.

Point of Know Return Live & Beyond is co-produced by Phil Ehart and Richard Williams, and is recorded and mixed by Chad Singer. The album features 22 songs selected from 12 shows recorded in 2019 and 2020 during KANSAS’s Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour. The setlist includes classic hits, deep cuts, and culminates with the band’s sextuple-platinum album, Point of Know Return, performed in its entirety.

Following the success of the band’s Leftoverture Anniversary Tour, KANSAS followed that tour up with the even more popular Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour. The overwhelming success of that tour, and the previous live album, Leftoverture Live & Beyond, led the band, along with Inside Out Music, to release selected songs from the tour as a live album.

“We knew we wanted to release a live album of the Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour. Being unable to tour for more than a year has given us the opportunity to work on Point of Know Return Live & Beyond and release it for our fans who are missing live concerts as much as we are,” said KANSAS drummer and album co-producer, Phil Ehart. “When we discussed who would mix the album, we thought the best possible person would be the guy who mixes the band live every night and recorded the shows on the road. Nobody knows better how KANSAS sounds live than our front of house engineer, Chad Singer!”

“This live album sounds great,” adds KANSAS guitarist and album co-producer, Richard Williams. “We wanted to make sure this album captures and represents how KANSAS sounds live in concert. Point of Know Return Live & Beyond does just that.”

Along with original KANSAS band members Phil Ehart on drums and Richard Williams on lead guitar, Point of Know Return Live & Beyond, features Tom Brislin on keyboards and vocals, Billy Greer on bass and vocals, Ronnie Platt on lead vocals and keyboards, David Ragsdale on violin and vocals, and Zak Rizvi on guitar and vocals.

Point of Know Return Live & Beyond, will be released May 28, 2021, on Inside Out Music and is distributed by The Orchard. The album will be available as a double CD digipak, triple 180-gram vinyl + 2 CD box-set, and digitally on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes, and other fine digital retailers.
