SAXON Unveil THE BEATLES’ ‘Paperback Writer’ From ‘Inspirations’ Covers Album

British Heavy Metal giants, SAXON have released a super-charged melodic romp of The Beatles’ ‘Paperback Writer’ as third single from their upcoming cover album, Inspirations, set for release March 19th (Silver Lining Music).

Saxon proudly display their “Inspirations” with classic covers release. Pre-order Inspirations here

“I saw The Beatles on TV for the first time in 1963, It was a very inspirational moment for me to think maybe I could be in a band!”, enthuses Biff Byford

Watch/Listen to the recently released ‘Paint It Black’ and ‘Speed King’ here

Recorded at Brockfield Hall near York, UK, with a firm eye on the old school way using Marshall cabs, Marshall amps, real drums and produced by Biff Byford with Jacky Lehmann recording and mixing, Saxon approach the likes of Motörhead’s ‘Bomber’ (with added whistle!), Toto’s ‘Hold The Line’, Black Sabbath’s ‘Evil Woman’ and a raucous Deep Purple’s ‘Speed King’ with refreshingly warm, unfiltered, “vintage” sounding renditions.

Continues Byford:

“We wanted to do an album based on our influences, the songs and bands that inspired us to write what we did and still do.”

Byford does, indeed, take on some new vocal challenges, which he duly smashes on the likes of Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Rocker’. The net result is that whether cranking up a heavyweight take on Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ or throwing down AC/DC’s ‘Problem Child’, Saxon does a supreme job of entertaining both themselves and their audience throughout Inspirations.

Saxon’s Inspirations is available on Vinyl, CD, digital formats and limited edition D2C products; for pre-orders go to at this location.

ATREYU have announced their new album Baptize, out June 4 via Spinefarm Records. Furthermore, the band has shared not one but two brand new songs from the record.

“‘Warrior’ is song about persistence and never giving up,” the band shares. “We hope this song can be the puzzle piece that helps people realize that we ALL have the capacity for greatness. Sometimes, greatness can exist in the shadows and lives buried under negativity, trauma, or anxiety. ‘Warrior’ is about searching through all of that endless darkness to finally find the sunrise.”

Atreyu continues, “When we wrote ‘Warrior,’ the idea to do a big marching drum break came about. We wanted it to feel like a hometown football game. Travis Barker was the perfect person to bring this to life. It’s cool to have him be a part of the song and to perform in a different light than what people may be used to.”

About “Underrated,” the band says, “We’ve always had to prove ourselves. We’ve never been handed anything nor have we taken any shortcuts. It’s never been ‘the easy way.’ Over two decades later, we’re still making our mark.”

CVLT OV THE SVN Announce Debut Album Details + Share First Music Video

Finally, there’s a cvlt worth joining! As it often seems modern rock music has lost its sense of palpable danger and mystique, Finnish occult murder pop innovators CVLT OV THE SVN mark their return in full force with their grim, addictive first full length, We Are The Dragon!  Slated for release on May 7, 2021 via Napalm Records, CVLT OV THE SVN’s debut embodies a reverberating sense of eeriness, danger and fear, enriched with a pinch of gothic romanticism and pitch-black seduction.

With the unveiling of previously-released goth-boppers like “Twilight”, “The Pit”, “Whore Of Babylon” and “Luna In The Sky Forever”, CVLT OV THE SVN have already proven how to successfully merge seething heaviness and sweet pop melodies. Now, the mysterious visionary behind the cvlt, who actually started out as a black metal drummer, finally sets free his casket full of morbid horror theatrics. Inspired by movies like The Exorcist and the all devouring darkness itself, he also draws inspiration not only from the heavy rock genre and greats like Type O Negative and Turbonegro, but the nostalgic influences of mainstream artists like Roxette as well.

Today, CVLT OV THE SVN have shared the new single “My Venom”, a track that will send shivers down your spine! First evoking an eerie horror atmosphere in the verse, the mystical vocal performance of the project’s mysterious frontman leads into a sweet and seductive refrain shortly after. Join the cvlt and watch the brand new clip here:

The anonymous band mastermind states:

“‘My Venom’ represents the issues within my soul. I think it’s important to go and face your fears, or they will rule you. The video has a dark mood, which is what I always want present in my work. I don’t do the videos with a big crew as I want my own vibe in them. I’m sort of a dictator in that sense. Spread the word!”

CVLT OV THE SVN’s sound feels dangerously unsettling, lacing its churning heaviness with pop melodies that travel right through your ears to your central nervous system. Conceptually conveying a variety of extreme emotions, each of the album’s twelve tracks cut through the noise of society like a razorblade, leaving a long-lasting impression on the listener that’ll have them clamoring for more!

“When I wrote these songs, I wanted to push people’s boundaries,” he adds.

In addition to the macabre thrills of their music, there’s the character he takes on stage, twisting the dagger of perception even further like your favorite horror flick and making for a combined experience that cuts deep and close to the bone.

The creative cvlt leader continues:

“It’s easier to tell those grim stories through another identity, another character. Black cloaks just go with it, obviously. I’m a big fan of suspense and this kind of content is all about the surprises. I find it is an intriguing realm to explore. Whatever lies ahead, CVLT OV THE SVN will adapt and thrive.”

We Are The Dragon Tracklist:
01. We Are The Dragon
02. My Venom
03. Don’t Be Tender Love Me Cruel
04. Hellbound
05. Dancing With The Devil
06. Twilight
07. I’m Gonna Find Out
08. Luna In The Sky Forever
09. The Murderer
10. Whore Of Babylon
11. The Pit
12. Another Infinity

CVLT OV THE SVN’s We Are The Dragon will be out on May 7, 2021 through Napalm Records and available as CD and Digital formats. The album pre-sale just went up at THIS LOCATION!

Legendary SWEET Release New “Set Me Free” Single And Official Music Video

Sweet (Left to Right) – Lee Small (bass, vocals), Bruce Bisland (drums, vocals), Paul Manzi (lead vocals), Andy Scott (lead guitar, vocals), Steve Mann (guitar, keyboards)

Legendary Glam Rockers SWEET featuring original guitarist Andy Scott, have released their new single “Set Me Free”. the new single is taken from the band’s new lockdown album “Isolation Boulevard” which is available on digital and vinyl. The CD is available to pre-order.

Sweet have also released the official “Set Me Free” music video that can be viewed HERE.

Andy Scott is available for interview to talk about the new single and album, plus Sweet’s rescheduled November and December 2021 UK Tour.

“Isolation Boulevard” features all the Sweet’s classic hit singles and was recorded with the new line-up during lockdowns between September and October 2020.

“Isolation Boulevard” is a reworking of Sweet’s 1975 multi-million selling album “Desolation Boulevard”. The new single, a re-recorded version of “Set Me Free”, is taken from the “Isolation Boulevard” album. Hailed by many as one of the most covered songs in Sweet’s repertoire, this marks the first time the band has released it as an official single.

Over the years, the song has been covered by many rock artists including Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and Saxon.

“Recording an album separately in different locations throws up a myriad of technical problems,” says Andy Scott. “It’s impossible for everyone to play at the same time, so all parts are performed the “old” way and then data transferred back to base camp where the magical digital stuff takes over.”

Continues Andy, “Sweet would usually record all together in the studio with a performance rather than individually but the pandemic dictated the ways and means. The result is a mind-blowing set of tracks, all the hits and a barrage of heavy-duty glam rock.”
