This Friday, long-running Los Angeles hardcore kingpins TERROR will issue Trapped In A World, a special LP recorded live in the studio revisiting their earliest records with former guitarist Todd Jones of Nails, who will also be producing the band’s next LP. Advancing the album’s official release, Decibel Magazine is now hosting an exclusive stream of the entire record.

Since their 2002 inception, TERROR has held their own at the forefront of hardcore, through nonstop international touring, an incredible discography, and deep roots in the hardcore community. While their full-time touring has been halted for the past year during the ongoing pandemic, the band has been revisiting material from some of their prior incarnations, and in recent months, the current lineup met up to recapture songs from their earliest days. Joined by former guitarist Todd Jones, who formed Nails upon his exit from the band in 2004, at drummer Nick Jett’s studio. The band recorded a brutal session of songs from their seminal first two records – 2003’s Lowest Of The Low (Bridge 9 Records) and 2004’s One With The Underdogs (Trustkill) – the session also serving as a precursor for their upcoming studio album which will be produced by Jones.

With twelve of their most seminal and foundational tracks brutally delivered in less than twenty-four minutes, Trapped In A World was recorded with the band all playing together at once to capture a more raw and “rehearsal tape” type of energy in July 2020 at Jet to Mars Studio, engineered and mixed by Nick Jett with additional engineering by Ryan Marr, and mastered by Will Putney. The record is completed with cover art by Rico Pakun with additional art by Chase Mason, handwritten elements by Tyler Mullen, layout and design by Martin Stewart.

Decibel writes in part with the advance album stream, “A precursor to TERROR’s next album, which will feature Jones at the production desk, Trapped In A World recaptures the spirit of One With The Underdogs and Always The Hard Way but gives the songs a more punk feel. It’s invigorating to hear classics like ‘One with the Underdogs’ in a new light, more than fifteen years after their original release. Trapped In A World captures TERROR’s live energy, minus the crowd surfers and Vogel’s frequent calls for stage divers.”

Stream TERROR’s Trapped In A World LP early only through Decibel Magazine now at THIS LOCATION.

TERROR will self-release Trapped In A World on all digital service providers and on 12” vinyl including new merch and more this Friday, March 5th. The LP will be pressed in an array of vinyl variants: 500 TriColor Pink/Blue/Yellow, 200 Black vinyl big hole limited cover, 25 Test pressings, 200 Gold Vinyl (Coretex exclusive), 200 Neon Yellow (RevHQ exclusive), and 100 Glow in the Dark with Japanese OBI Strip (WAR Records Exclusive).

Find preorders and more now at TERROR’s official website StickTight.LA.

Vocalist Scott Vogel reveals, “As the world locked down and terror went on a full pause with the pandemic hitting the USA hard, somehow this created a perfect opportunity with Nick, Todd, and myself to start writing TERROR songs twenty years after we started this band. Of course, all the other members are involved in this process, but with travel restrictions and us being so spread-out location-wise, a lot of weekends the three of us were just getting in a room and creating new terror songs and it’s been a pretty insane experience. Todd is a deep-thinking maniac that can write hardcore songs like no one I have seen before, and the three of us fell right back into our early mindset and the energy and aggression felt just like it did on day one.”

Todd Jones adds, “Got together with the TERROR Crew (in a creative sense), for the first time since recording One With The Underdogs. The ideas, guitars, lyrics/vocals, songs came pouring out. Locked in with Nick and Scott as if it hasn’t been sixteen years since we played together. There’s no shortage of song writers in Terror and the stuff we’ve collectively come up with so far… I can’t stop listening to these tracks. Magic via musical chemistry. It’s our aim to deliver to you a visceral and explosive hardcore record and I really hope you enjoy it.”

WOLFHEART Reveal Colossal New Track “Hereditary”

Finnish melodic death metal mainstays WOLFHEART recently announced the upcoming release of their brand new EP, Skull Soldiers, scheduled for release on March 5, 2021 via Napalm Records! WithSkull Soldiers, WOLFHEART continues the heroic battle forged on their highly-acclaimed 2020 full-length, Wolves of Karelia, with two new, frostbitten Winter War-inspired singles and two special rarities.

Today, following the recent release of the EP’s searing title track, “Skull Soldiers” (featuring guest vocals from Petro Solovey of Ukranian band Wolfanger), WOLFHEART have revealed another unrelenting new track, entitled “Hereditary”, alongside a new band playthrough video. Conjuring a frigid blackened metal landscape, the track explores soaring symphonics and low rhythm guitars backed by massive vocals, while telling the brave tale of Winter War warriors fighting some of the most epic battles in Finnish history.

WOLFHEART frontman Tuomas Saukkonen says about “Hereditary”:
“Musically, ‘Hereditary’ is a clear contrast to our previous single ‘Skull Soldiers’, which was our most death metal oriented song ever written. It’s a melodic and almost heroically forward driven song that still carries the dark theme of the war with the timeless fact: When pushed far enough, everybody becomes a killer, and that wrath is buried in each one of us.”

Pre-Order the Skull Soldiers EP HERE!

The Skull Soldiers EP’s unrelentingly heavy offerings bring to life a sonic aura of freezing winter temperatures and the crushing weight of the Finnish army that was never willing to surrender. In addition to two new studio tracks, “Skull Soldiers” and “Hereditary”, the EP is also accented by two rarities: the first – an eerie new acoustic version of the Shadow World (2015) track, “Aeon of Cold”, featuring the airy, chilling clean vocals of bassist Lauri Silvonen, and the second – a flawless live version of the Wolves of Karelia single “Reaper”, recorded during the band’s virtual concert stream performance that aired in 2020. Skull Soldiers is a must-have for diehard and new WOLFHEART fans alike, staving off cravings until the band’s next offering!

Saukkonen says about the EP’s concept:
“I did a lot of research about the Winter War for the Wolves of Karelia album, but after the album was out, a few reporters gave me some additional details during the interview cycle and it turns out I managed to miss some really cool hidden gems. One of them was a small “elite group”, or “Winter War special unit”, who called themselves Skull Soldiers – ninja level soldiers who painted skulls and skeletons on their helmets. I really felt that I had to write some kind of a sequel for Wolves of Karelia, and since lockdown brought a lot of free time, we decided to make an EP while waiting for the world to open up again for touring.”

He adds about the EP’s rarity tracks:
“The acoustic version of ‘Aeon Of Cold’ is something we have been thinking for a while now. Our bass player, Lauri, has an awesome clean voice and we would like to play a full unplugged gig at some point, and based on that idea we have already been arranging some of the songs with acoustic guitars. Since there are no gigs at the moment, we wanted to try out the idea in studio. Same goes with live version of ‘Reaper’. We did a multitrack recording when we did our first streaming gig last April and since we are unable to play live to our fans, this is the second-best thing we could offer.”

Skull Soldiers EP tracklisting:
1. Skull Soldiers
2. Hereditary
3. Aeon of Cold (Acoustic)
4. Reaper (Live)

Alaska’s ATONEMENT DENIED Sign Worldwide Deal With Extreme Management Group

Extreme Management Group (EMG), home to bands like Suffocation, Cattle Decapitation, Rings Of Saturn, and more, has announced their partnership with Alaskan alternative metal group, ATONEMENT DENIED.

After releasing the band’s debut EP, Atonement Denied immediately garnered acclaim in their area, having been voted into the Top Original Alaskan Bands by the Anchorage Press.

Atonement Denied, hailing from the frozen tundra of Alaska, blends a groove doom approach with a modern, alternative influence. Combining rhythm and melody, Atonement Denied presents their own style of dual guitar components, dense breakdowns, and the rapid blast-beats you have come to expect from a new age band. Atonement Denied merges singing and screaming into their vocal attack. Lyrically, as a mere observer to our worldly struggles, Atonement Denied writes from a raven’s perspective.

Ravens still carry a spiritual importance to Native Alaskans; using this to symbolize the “watchful eye over humanity”, including all its misfortunes, misdeeds, as well as humanity’s successes and prosperities.

Atonement Denied sets high expectations in their effort to create passionate, bold music; and looks to tour far outside their vast mountainous surroundings of Alaska, and its frost-molded landscapes.

Now, having inked a worldwide deal with Extreme Management Group (EMG), the band says: “We are ecstatic to announce our partnership with EMG! We know it’s a perfect fit and can’t wait for everyone to hear what we’ve been working on! Lots of big things coming up; stay tuned.”

EMG said, “We are happy to be working with Atonement Denied. We expect big things to come from this partnership.”

AUTARKH Premiere New Song And Video ‘Alignment’

Dutch extreme metal outfit AUTARKH have partnered with Outburn Magazine to premiere the brand new song, “Alignment.” The song and video can be found at THIS LOCATION.

Founder Michel Nienhuis comments: “A place of uncertainty can be a fertile ground if you are open to any way a situation might unfold. All  might as well occur in your favor and it could feel like you don’t need to go with the flow because you are the flow. ‘Alignment’ tries to capture this most desirable form of motion, a realm where time and space are aligned. A truly astonishing state of being that ultimately leads to catharsis, self-government and independence.”

To misquote Allen Ginsburg “the circle DODECAHDRON is broken. But with death comes rebirth.”  AUTARKH takes a radical approach to their musical assault, consuming the listener with dizzying maelstroms of chaos. ‘Form In Motion’ embodies the word “extreme,” putting forth an intrusive battery of blistering guitars, pummeling drums, spastic math metal salvos and cacophonous electronics that culminates in one of the most robust and daring debut records metal has seen yet.

‘Form in Motion’ is due on March 12. Pre-orders are now live HERE.

The album cover for ‘Form in Motion’ was created by Manuel Tinnemans/Comaworx.

Track-list
1. Primitive Constructs (1:23)
2. Turbulence (6:43)
3. Cyclic Terror (5:17)
4. Impasse (1:50)
5. Introspectrum (5:20)
6. Lost To Sight (7:39)
7. Metacognition (2:47)
8. Clouded Aura (7:25)

GRETA VAN FLEET Debut “Heat Above” Live Video

Grammy Award-winning four-piece GRETA VAN FLEET have unveiled a live video for “Heat Above,” the latest track from their highly anticipated sophomore LP The Battle at Garden’s Gate, due April 16 via Lava/Republic. Watch/share the video filmed in Nashville HERE.

“‘Heat Above’ is theatrical, eloquent, and exaggerated,” explains the group. “This is a dream in the clouds, a moment of peace in the storm.  Thematically, we are dead center in the cult of Heaven, surreal, strange, alive and free.” Watch the official music video, which Rolling Stone hails as “heavenly,” HERE.

The Battle at Garden’s Gate reflects heavily on the group’s personal and spiritual growth, as well as deepening empathy for the struggles and inequalities others are experiencing.

“We realized that while growing up, we had been shielded by many things,” describes drummer Danny Wagner. “As we started to travel a lot, meet new and different people and experience different cultures, our definition of ‘normal’ changed.” Bassist Sam Kiszka adds, “I suppose that everything has changed except what got us here in the first place…our perception of the world, perception of life itself, what it means to be an artist, what it means to be part of a beautiful, gorgeous society. We’ve gained a larger understanding of why we’re all here.”

The Battle at Garden’s Gate was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Greg Kurstin (Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Adele). “There was a lot of self-evolution happening during the writing of this album that was prompted by experiences I had, experiences we all had,” explains vocalist Josh Kiszka. “It’s reflecting a lot of the world that we’ve seen, and I think that it’s reflecting a lot of personal truth,” says guitarist Jake Kiszka.

“Certainly after this, we’ve grown in so many ways,” Josh explains. “This album has taught us a lot, about life in general, about ourselves, about all of us, about the world we live in.” Pre-order the album HERE.

Forming in Frankenmuth, Michigan back in 2012, Greta Van Fleet consists of three brothers, vocalist Josh Kiszka, guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist/keyboardist Sam Kiszka, as well as drummer Danny Wagner. Together they have gone on to sell one million concert tickets across multiple continents, perform on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Tonight Show,” top the Billboard U.S. Mainstream Rock and Active Rock charts with their debut single “Highway Tune” in 2017, and win the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2019 for their debut full length album, From the Fires.
