Former DARK TRANQUILLITY Guitarist NIKLAS SUNDIN Shares Brand New Video ‘Pulsar 7’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on February 28, 2021
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: MITOCHONDRIAL SUN, Niklas Sundin. Leave a comment

By the end of a dark 2020, on November 13rd former DARK TRANQUILLITY guitarist, Niklas Sundin, released his second and critically acclaimed MITOCHONDRIAL SUN solo- album, entitled Sju Pulsarer, through Argonauta Records. Building upon Sundin’s debut, which was released not even a year ago, MITOCHONDRIAL SUN is his first public foray into different musical realms.

The core here is still electronic and instrumental as on the debut, but Sju Pulsarer displays a different and probably more “black metal” aspect of Sundin’s eclectic project. If the first album mainly consisted of quiet meditations on space and time, his Sju Pulsarer (Swedish for “Seven pulsars”) throws the listener into the eye of a relentless cosmic storm, where layers of sound are shattered and rebuilt to the rhythm of ferocious percussion. As opposed to the first album, where every track had its own instrumentation and sonic signature, these songs are very uniform in style: Fast, urgent and chaotic, but still full of emotionally charged melodies and atmospheric soundscapes lurking beneath the surface.

While Sju Pulsarer was released on all digital platforms last November, it‘s finally also now available as an LP and CD edition. To celebrate the physical album release, MITOCHONDRIAL SUN has just premiered a brand new video for the album closing track, Pulsar 7! Dive into the cosmos of Niklas Sundin’s blistering solo- album and watch the epic, new video clip right here:

“Pulsar 7 – being the final song of the album – ends the record on a fairly positive note, which might be surprising considering how the rest of “Sju Pulsarer” sounds.“ Says the multi-instrumentalist about the song. “Despite the frantic drums and heavy distortion, the chord progressions and melodies have an uplifting and empowering quality to them. I hope that you’ll all enjoy it and give the album a spin or two now that it’s available in physical format.“

Sju Pulsarer was mixed and mastered in the renowned Nacksving studio in Gothenburg with Anders Lagerfors at the helm, and was released digitally on November 13, 2020. Finally, the Vinyl and CD edition is available to purchase at THIS LOCATION!

GYPSY PISTOLEROS have released a brand new single and anthem for the underdog ‘Lost in a Town called Nowhere!’, the first track taken from upcoming new album, ‘The Mescalito Vampires’to be released via Golden Robot/RIOT Records in June.

Described as the album they always promised to make, this release sees GYPSY PISTOLEROS fully embracing their fiery flamenco/rumba passion crossover punk Rock n Roll leanings! The Latin Rock equivalent of Appetite for Destruction, ‘The Mescalito Vampires’ is here!

Stream/Buy ‘Lost in a Town Called Nowhere’ HERE

Gypsy Pistoleros are best described as being the ideal house band for the fictitious Titty Twister bar of Rodriguez’s From Dusk till Dawn. Between the nods to Morricone’s tense, tumbleweed atmospheres and the Gypsy Kings’ manic Mediterranean energy, a New York Dolls raw glam spark and a surplus of prime G ’n’ R attitude, the Pistoleros‘ sonic style is captured to the full with the release of an album they have always threatened!
Gypsy Pistoleros remain something truly unique and interesting in today’s predictable musical landscape. Combining their truly unique mix of flamenco rumba which gleefully collides with old school punk rock ‘n’ roll riffs in a head on collision. In the best rock ‘n’ roll tradition, with big hooks, attitude, and sleaze. Yet those flamenco breaks got into your head and refuse to leave – this hybrid rocks.

“The Pistoleros are sheer musical escapism” – Malcolm Dome Classic Rock Magazine
“Gypsy Pistoleros are a thrill-a-minute collection of melodic eye-patch swagger that smells of exotic spices and forbidden concubines. The Gypsy Pistoleros sound like Hanoi Rocks, if Hanoi Rocks were sultans and snakecharmers.”
Sleazegrinder-Classic Rock Magazine
“Gypsy Pistoleros were, and still are, a breath of fresh air. You will never hear another band like this. They are the greatest flamenco sleaze glam band ever. And that’s just a fact. If you don’t believe me, listen to this.”
Rating 9/10 Maximum Volume Music – Andrew Thorley
“Can you imagine Sleaze, Glam, Hard Rock, Punk and some Flamenco rolled into one with a whole lot of Spanish attitude oozing out it? Imagine no more – The Gypsy Pistoleros will give it all to you, and you will love every minute of it and want to reach for a tequila shot“.
***** Michele Storm Hairspray Heaven
“GYPSY PISTOLEROS have been carving out a unique niche for themselves in the crazy world of rock n’ roll. From the New York Dolls to Guns N’ Roses via El Bronco the Gypsy Pistoleros have got a stunning TexMex thing going on. Gypsy Pistoleros are the undisputed kings of Flamenco Sleaze“
Pulse Alternative Magazine

This mongrel offspring of fiery flamenco/rumba passion and gritty gutter glam, was born roamin’ somewhere between Barcelona and Worcester. Standing alone in musical ancestry and sum sound, they are one of those most rare acts who can honestly claim the tag ‘unique’.

KORPIKLAANI Release Drum Playthrough Video For “Verikoira”

Barely three weeks after the release of their acclaimed 11th studio album Jylhä, Finnish Folk Metal Superstars  KORPIKLAANI prove they still have a few tricks up their sleeves to keep their fans entertained while they can’t go to shows.

As of today, you can watch drummer Samuli Mikkonen rip through the album opening track Verikoira in an entertaining drum playthrough video featuring multiple camera angles.

“The composition of Verikoira was kind of unorthodox. Samuli wrote the drum arrangements on his own first and after the drums were recorded they started to make the music on top of it with Jonne. The main idea was to make a strong opening track full of drums such as JUDAS PRIEST had on their PAINKILLER album. This is what they came up with.”

Gothenburg’s heavy ’n’ hard rock outfit, ACID’S TRIP, has inked a worldwide record deal with powerhouse underground label Heavy Psych Sounds, who is proud to release the band’s hotly anticipated debut album this May!

Formed in late 2018 by Acid, former guitarist of Honeymoon Disease, Acid’s Trip has a clear vision of performing high speed rock’n’roll. With blasting guitar riffs, punchy melodies and a shitload of attitude, the band delivers full tilt boogie action on both vinyl and live on stage!

With two shreddin’ guitarists in the front and a dynamite rhythm section, this high- voltage juggernaut is running over the garage rock scene – with rapid electric guitars, groovy riffs and chopper culture! Their music is best described as a hard rock action mix of the speedy Mc5, a touch of Thin Lizzy and Lynyrd Skynyrd soul. The quartet has already proven themselves on tour in Europe and the band blew the roof at the legendary “Flanders Chopper Bash” while the success became a fact. Quickly they gained the attention by Italy’s record label and booking institution Heavy Psych Sounds, finest home for all that is heavy and high class acts such as Brant Bjork, Nebula, Yawning Man, Nick Oliveri and many more!

The band comments: ”Acid’s Trip is heavily psyched to sign a record deal with HPS. We believe we will create great things together. It is the perfect label for us and we are excited to drop bloody hot news with Heavy Psych Sounds. Fans can expect heavy riffs and action filled licks! Let the hard rockin’ commence!”

Acid’s Trip 12” vinyl “Rock’n’Roll Speedball”, released in 2019, sold out quickly and their awaited debut album will see the light of day on May 7th 2021 through Heavy Psych Sounds. The tracks come with the raw power of furious motor engines and Gothenburg groove. With a growing fanbase all around Europe and North America, Acid’s Trip came to hit the charts to reclaim the rockin’ vibes and fill your heads with groovy rock’n’roll!

Watch out for many more details, a first single and the album pre-order details to follow on March 4th!

CODE Reveal Details And Video Teaser Of Fifth Full Length Album ‘Flyblown Prince’

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: CODE. Leave a comment

After a long, and for some, an impatient, wait, CODE are back with “Flyblown Prince” the fifth full-length album from the legendary UK band that has, over the years,  preferred to dodge any attempts at being categorised by forging its own individual path through the ever-expanding minefield of genres.

Set to hit the streets on Dark Essence Records on the 4th of June, “Flyblown Prince” is a perverse fairy tale of an album that guides its listeners through the twists and turns of a dark and ghoulish nightmare fantasy of cinematic proportions.   As the band explains:

We are thrilled to finally be unleashing our new album ‘Flyblown Prince’ with our friends at Dark Essence Records.  This album is the result of three years of work and it is wonderful to be able to let it loose in all its mad, brutal and grandiose glory.  Every detail has been meticulously poured over and we think this is our richest release to date.  We hope you enjoy our 45-minute, darkness filled and anxiety ridden offering.

For “Flyblown Prince” CODE’s lineup of Aort on Guitars, Lordt on Drums, Syhr on Bass and Wacian on Vocals, with guitarist Andras providing support on the recordings, have created an ever-shifting soundscape of moods and violent aggression, to produce an album that is quite possibly the most intense and extreme album the band has ever produced.  A progressive album, both musically and technically, and one the likes of which hasn’t been heard in years.

A video teaser for “Flyblown Prince” can be seen below.

With cover art by Kristina Pavleska, layout by Costin Chioreanu and photography by Julie Cottrell, “Flyblown Prince” will be available in CD, Digital and Vinyl formats.  Track listing is as follows:

1. Flyblown Prince
2. Clemency & Atropy
3. By the Charred Stile
4. Rat King
5. From the Next Room
6. Dread Stridulate Lodge
7. Scold’s Bride
8. The Mad White Hair

Formed in London in 2002 from the black ruminations of Aort’s early project, SEASONAL CODE, the band have drawn a creative line through a series of full-length studio albums starting with the brittle avant-garde of  2005’s “Nouveau Gloaming”, to 2009’s Spellemann-nominated “Resplendent Grotesque”, before moving  on to the mad theatre of 2013’s “Augur Nox”,  and the bleak, anaesthetic wash of 2015’s “mut”.

In 2015 CODE also released a savage live tour recording, whilst 2017 saw the appearance of two EP’s “Lost Signal”, which was largely a live re-forging of the material from a new perspective, and “Under the Subgleam”  which served as a hint at what would eventually develop in  today’s “Flyblown Prince”.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN Unveil Music Video For ‘Phobia’ Feat. ANGRA Guitarist Marcelo Barbosa

Posted by tarjavirmakari on February 27, 2021

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN have unveiled a music video for “Phobia”, the latest single from their acclaimed new concept album “Psychosomatic”. The clip, a narrative video that ties into the record’s pandemic-inspired theme, can be viewed via its premiere on MetalSucks HERE.

The video for “Phobia”, which features a guest guitar solo by Angra’s Marcelo Barbosa, is the band’s latest examination of the events that changed the world in 2020, which drove the overall creative process and production of “Psychosomatic”.

“As the pandemic first began, one thing that we saw happening to everyone – including ourselves – was an introduction of new phobias,” says keyboardist/guitarist Gabriel Guardian. “I started becoming scared of things that I used to like or not be scared of. Even just the thought of being in a crowd has a whole new meaning and feeling to it. Is it a phobia? Will we have to learn to deal with them, or will they go away when the pandemic is over? This song touches on the topics of these new phobias.”

Notably, the filming of “Phobia” was affected by the very real events of the outside world, as bassist/engineer Joshua Lopez and his wife contracted COVID-19 in January. Lopez recorded his parts for the music video while he was still in quarantine inside his home in the band’s native Texas. Luckily, both Joshua and his wife were able to recover after suffering only mild symptoms. The video also saw drummer Justin Piedimonte contributing from his home in Montreal, Canada, and Gabriel Guardian recording his parts in his new home of Las Vegas alongside vocalist Carlos Zema, who recently relocated from his native Brazil after staying in lockdown for many months.

“Phobia” showcases Zema‘s high-flying vocals and Gabriel Guardian‘s dizzying abilities to play guitar and keyboard simultaneously. Guardian has shown off this unbelievable dexterity on MTV’s “Amazingness,” and his unique dual-instrument covers of classics by the likes of Iron Maiden, Pantera and Guns N’ Roses have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN began building their following through multiple self-released EPs before signing with M-Theory Audio for the 2018 release of their first full-length record, “Age of Revolution”. The band has performed live alongside some of the biggest names in metal, including Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Kamelot, Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Slayer, Metal Church, Soilwork and Steve Vai, and in countries such as Brazil and Russia, and at high-profile events such as ESPN’s X Games, South By Southwest and the Fun Fun Fun Fest. The band supported the release of “Age of Revolution” by touring relentlessly alongside fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman, Powerglove, and Exmortus, winning over new audiences nationwide.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN gathered in Las Vegas at the beginning of 2020 to record their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, shutdowns around the world began being enforced, resulting in the band completely scrapping the record that they had been working on and writing and creating a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events. The final result was a truly multi-national record, with Gabriel remaining in Las Vegas, Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, Piedimonte drumming from Montreal and Lopez recording from IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

“Psychosomatic” is a product of the extraordinary turmoil of 2020 that affected millions of people around the world, as well as the next step in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN’s exhilarating melding of melodic power metal with progressive/shred tendencies. CD and limited-edition purple vinyl editions of “Psychosomatic” are available now at www.smarturl.com/immortalguardian.
