London, UK mathcore trio PUPIL SLICER are today premiering their brand new single, Interlocutor, and its accompanying music video via Revolver Magazine. The track is the third single to be taken from PUPIL SLICER’s upcoming debut album, Mirrors, due for release on March 12 via Prosthetic Records.

Speaking on Interlocutor‘s release, Katie Davies (vocals/guitars) comments: “We wanted to present different facets of our sound with each single we put out from Mirrors. Where Wounds Upon My Skin and L’Appel Du Vide were two different takes on more conventional song structures, Interlocutor is a look into some of our more direct and immediate work, a musical train of thought running off the rails, constantly evolving in one direction. This theme is reflected in the lyrics which tell of an internal struggle, a fight between a voice of reason and love of life pitted against a twisted mirror image of crushing depression and self-loathing.”

Josh Andrews (drums) adds: “In this music video we wanted to go beyond the more typical style of performance videos common to metal and create a stronger narrative to effectively explore the concepts that are core to Kate’s lyrics. The music video features a women in turmoil and on the brink of suicide. The inner thoughts in the present self and memory of a happier childhood self are featured to highlight how oppressing and all encompassing a self-destructive mindset can become, losing touch with better times and the possibility of a brighter tomorrow.”

Having spent two years honing their craft and refining their sound, PUPIL SLICER set out to record new material in 2019 with Pedram Valiani of Frontierer/Sectioned overseeing production, and mastering taken care of by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. In late 2020 the band released the single, L’Appel Du Vide featuring Carson Pace of the Callous Daoboys, paving the way for this full-length to follow. Mirrors captures the frenetic energy that propels PUPIL SLICER forward, making their snarling blend of mathcore, grindcore, death metal and more a truly essential listen.

PITCH BLACK PROCESS (formerly AFFLICTION) was formed in 1999. Their first two albums “One Reality” (out in May 2003) and “Execution is Necessary” (released in July 2007) got very good response nationwide and also from abroad. In November 2009 they hit the road for their first European tour playing over 20 gigs (beeing the longest tour which any Turkish band had ever made abroad until then), followed up by the 18-shows European tour with WARBRINGER, in February 2010. Before the tour with Warbringer, PITCH BLACK PROCESS signed a sponsorship deal with one of the most well-known guitar companies in the world, PRS, which was another ‘debut’ for Turkey. None of any Turkish bands had signed a sponsorship agreement with such a big brand in music industry. The 3rd album “Hand of God?” was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Soilwork, etc) at Dugout Studios, came out in June 2013. In September 2013, PITCH BLACK PROCESS played on main stage at the 82nd Izmir International Fair, being the first ever metal band to play on the fair’s history. In 2015, PITCH BLACK PROCESS became part of EVH and Fender. In November 2015 the band returned to Dugout Studios to record their 4th album, “Derin” which was released in December 2016, in Turkey on Atlantis Yapim/EMP Label Group and on Ellefson Music Productions/SPV in Europe. The band’s latest EP, entitled “SIR”, came out on March 15th 2019, via Turkish label 1877 PM.

THE QUILL Release New Single “Hallucinate”

Swedish hard rock institution THE QUILL have released the new single “Hallucinate” from the upcoming ninth studio album “Earthrise”.

With a sound based on a wide range of influences, the band has released released one quality album after another since their debut in 1995. The dynamic interplay between original vocalist Magnus Ekwall (Ayreon, Mountain of Power), drummer Jolle Atlagic (Hanoi Rocks, Electric Boys, Firebird), guitarist Christian Carlsson (Cirkus Prütz) and bassist Roger Nilsson (Spiritual Beggars, Arch Enemy, Firebird) creates THE QUILL’s unique, deep 70s heavy rock. No frills, just real rock at full throttle!

The new songs like “Hallucinate” or “Keep On Moving” are bursting with confidence and adrenaline. “Left Brain Blues” and the title track “Earthrise” are reminiscent of Black Sabbath in their heyday. While tracks like “Dwarf Planet” and “Evil Omen” revive the heavy / psychedelic sides of early Led Zeppelin or Uriah Heep.

The tracks on “Earthrise” tell stories of alienation set in the confines of space and time. Perhaps not a surprising theme given the state of the world today. But it’s also a theme that runs through the entire history of mankind so far.

Packed with catchy riffs, pounding bass lines and a fantastic frontman, this album will once again delight all fans of honest hard rock.

Line Up:

Magnus Ekwall vocals (Ayreon, Mountain of Power)
Christian Carlsson guitar (Cirkus Prütz)
Roger Nilsson bass (Spiritual Beggars, Arch Enemy, Firebird)
Jolle Atlagic drums (Hanoi Rocks, Electric Boys, Firebird)

Japanese IMARI TONES Sign With Sliptrick Records

Japanese Christian Metal Group IMARI TONES have signed a deal with Sliptrick Records.

Imari Tones are a Christian heavy metal band from Japan, where majority of people believe in Buddhism and Christianity is very scarce. The band was formed in 2004 but the real start was in 2008, when they declared themselves as “The first Christian metal band from Japan”. Since then, Imari Tones toured in and out of Japan, while making many albums independently.

The band play old school metal music inspired by bands from 1980’s, such as Van Halen, Judas Priest, and Japanese bands like Loudness. But their music is fairy diverse and sometimes wanders into progressive territory, making it inevitable for listeners to compare them to prog bands such as Rush and YES. One of their goals is to combine Christianity and Bushido, the Samurai spirit, because they believe they can believe in Jesus Christ without losing their identity as Japanese. That’s why they play Christian music with Japanese traditional taste, which puts them in a very unique position both musically and culturally.

Imari Tones always say their “roll” is that of a bridge. A spiritual and cultural bridge between Japan and the world. A lot of people in the world are interested in Japanese pop culture. On the other hand there are so many people in Japan who have never heard of Jesus. Imari Tones are trying to reach both groups of people. They show the world what the Japanese spirit is like, while introducing Christianity to Japanese audience.

Imari Tones are:
Takahiro “Tone” Nakamine – Guitars/Vocals | Marie – Bass | Shinryu – Drums
