CODE Reveal Details And Video Teaser Of Fifth Full Length Album ‘Flyblown Prince’

After a long, and for some, an impatient, wait, CODE are back with “Flyblown Prince” the fifth full-length album from the legendary UK band that has, over the years,  preferred to dodge any attempts at being categorised by forging its own individual path through the ever-expanding minefield of genres.

Set to hit the streets on Dark Essence Records on the 4th of June, “Flyblown Prince” is a perverse fairy tale of an album that guides its listeners through the twists and turns of a dark and ghoulish nightmare fantasy of cinematic proportions.   As the band explains:

We are thrilled to finally be unleashing our new album ‘Flyblown Prince’ with our friends at Dark Essence Records.  This album is the result of three years of work and it is wonderful to be able to let it loose in all its mad, brutal and grandiose glory.  Every detail has been meticulously poured over and we think this is our richest release to date.  We hope you enjoy our 45-minute, darkness filled and anxiety ridden offering.

For “Flyblown Prince” CODE’s lineup of Aort on Guitars, Lordt on Drums, Syhr on Bass and Wacian on Vocals, with guitarist Andras providing support on the recordings, have created an ever-shifting soundscape of moods and violent aggression, to produce an album that is quite possibly the most intense and extreme album the band has ever produced.  A progressive album, both musically and technically, and one the likes of which hasn’t been heard in years.

A video teaser for “Flyblown Prince” can be seen below.

With cover art by Kristina Pavleska, layout by Costin Chioreanu and photography by Julie Cottrell, “Flyblown Prince” will be available in CD, Digital and Vinyl formats.  Track listing is as follows:

1. Flyblown Prince
2. Clemency & Atropy
3. By the Charred Stile
4. Rat King
5. From the Next Room
6. Dread Stridulate Lodge
7. Scold’s Bride
8. The Mad White Hair

Formed in London in 2002 from the black ruminations of Aort’s early project, SEASONAL CODE, the band have drawn a creative line through a series of full-length studio albums starting with the brittle avant-garde of  2005’s “Nouveau Gloaming”, to 2009’s Spellemann-nominated “Resplendent Grotesque”, before moving  on to the mad theatre of 2013’s “Augur Nox”,  and the bleak, anaesthetic wash of 2015’s “mut”.

In 2015 CODE also released a savage live tour recording, whilst 2017 saw the appearance of two EP’s “Lost Signal”, which was largely a live re-forging of the material from a new perspective, and “Under the Subgleam”  which served as a hint at what would eventually develop in  today’s “Flyblown Prince”.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN Unveil Music Video For ‘Phobia’ Feat. ANGRA Guitarist Marcelo Barbosa

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN have unveiled a music video for “Phobia”, the latest single from their acclaimed new concept album “Psychosomatic”. The clip, a narrative video that ties into the record’s pandemic-inspired theme, can be viewed via its premiere on MetalSucks HERE.

The video for “Phobia”, which features a guest guitar solo by Angra’s Marcelo Barbosa, is the band’s latest examination of the events that changed the world in 2020, which drove the overall creative process and production of “Psychosomatic”.

“As the pandemic first began, one thing that we saw happening to everyone – including ourselves – was an introduction of new phobias,” says keyboardist/guitarist Gabriel Guardian. “I started becoming scared of things that I used to like or not be scared of. Even just the thought of being in a crowd has a whole new meaning and feeling to it. Is it a phobia? Will we have to learn to deal with them, or will they go away when the pandemic is over? This song touches on the topics of these new phobias.”

Notably, the filming of “Phobia” was affected by the very real events of the outside world, as bassist/engineer Joshua Lopez and his wife contracted COVID-19 in January. Lopez recorded his parts for the music video while he was still in quarantine inside his home in the band’s native Texas. Luckily, both Joshua and his wife were able to recover after suffering only mild symptoms. The video also saw drummer Justin Piedimonte contributing from his home in Montreal, Canada, and Gabriel Guardian recording his parts in his new home of Las Vegas alongside vocalist Carlos Zema, who recently relocated from his native Brazil after staying in lockdown for many months.

“Phobia” showcases Zema‘s high-flying vocals and Gabriel Guardian‘s dizzying abilities to play guitar and keyboard simultaneously. Guardian has shown off this unbelievable dexterity on MTV’s “Amazingness,” and his unique dual-instrument covers of classics by the likes of Iron Maiden, Pantera and Guns N’ Roses have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN began building their following through multiple self-released EPs before signing with M-Theory Audio for the 2018 release of their first full-length record, “Age of Revolution”. The band has performed live alongside some of the biggest names in metal, including Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Kamelot, Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Slayer, Metal Church, Soilwork and Steve Vai, and in countries such as Brazil and Russia, and at high-profile events such as ESPN’s X Games, South By Southwest and the Fun Fun Fun Fest. The band supported the release of “Age of Revolution” by touring relentlessly alongside fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman, Powerglove, and Exmortus, winning over new audiences nationwide.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN gathered in Las Vegas at the beginning of 2020 to record their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, shutdowns around the world began being enforced, resulting in the band completely scrapping the record that they had been working on and writing and creating a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events. The final result was a truly multi-national record, with Gabriel remaining in Las Vegas, Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, Piedimonte drumming from Montreal and Lopez recording from IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

“Psychosomatic” is a product of the extraordinary turmoil of 2020 that affected millions of people around the world, as well as the next step in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN’s exhilarating melding of melodic power metal with progressive/shred tendencies. CD and limited-edition purple vinyl editions of “Psychosomatic” are available now at www.smarturl.com/immortalguardian.

LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT Release Video For Second Single “Beating The Odds”

LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, the legendary supergroup comprised of Mike Portnoy (Transatlantic, Sons of Apollo), John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), and Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel) are set to return with a new album titled ‘LTE3’, due to be released March 26th, 2021 via InsideOutMusic.

Today, the band are pleased to share the video for the album’s second single “Beating The Odds”. You can watch the video, created by Christian Rios, here:

“This was a riff that I brought into the sessions that I thought was interesting because it’s in an odd time and phrased in a way that is hard to wrap your head around at first until you understand where the groove is. When I first presented it to the guys, their initial reaction was “how are you feeling that?” When the band enters after the opening riff it probably sounds a little ‘odd’ because the time signature is a bit unclear until the song gets going. If LTE ever had a ‘prog pop hit’ this would be it!” – John Petrucci

“I remember the look of confusion on ALL our faces when JP started playing that opening riff! It’s was seemingly so straight ahead but with a bizarre rhythmic twist! Took a while to internalize that but then we all loved it! One of the great things about LTE is the fact that we just let ourselves loose and have FUN!” – Jordan Rudess

“‘Beating The Odds’ is the 2nd song we wrote in the LTE3 sessions. I jokingly referred to it as “the feel-good song of the Pandemic” in the studio as it has a very upbeat happy feel to it…but also takes a few cool musical twists & turns ranging from the glorious melodic chorus & end vamp to the dark driving solo sections” – Mike Portnoy

“Starts with an off-step riff, kind of like walking upstairs backward, but at the repeat you get it. Then it opens up into “anthem land.”. Later there are unison bass lines where both Jordan and John got flangy sounds that work well with the bass. Mike’s unstoppable energy is evident here, and we’ve got more fantastic J&J solos. At only five and a half minutes we start fading out… a short song by our standards. But we’re just getting warmed up.” – Tony Levin

Lyrically, and musically, the award-winning Dutch artist lays her soul bare with the most evocative record of her career – captivating song-stories told with acoustic guitars, strings, horns, percussion, and Anneke’s hypnotic vocal harmonies.

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN couldn’t be happier and more excited to be releasing her most personal album to date: ‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’ was inspired by heartbreak, but it is also a manifest of how heartbreak can lead into transformation and make way for something new and bright once the dark has been overcome. Anneke comments in her own words: “When I scribbled down some lyric ideas in 2018, I took the first steps on the long road that would lead to the release of ‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’. It’s easy to get lost in a sea of self-doubt when you’re writing and recording highly personal songs, but once the album was done, I was able to put my mind at ease. I’m so proud of what we’ve created and release day has finally arrived!”

To show a yet different side of the album’s musical diversity, today sees the release of the brand-new track and video for “I Saw A Car”, which Anneke comments as follows:
“The stomps and plucky brightness might fool you into thinking this was a ditty, but the vulnerable and self-assessing lyrics actually fit the headspace that being expressed throughout the album. This song was written and produced very late in the recording process, but I just instantly knew the track had something special and needed to be included on the album.”

On February 26th, Denmark’s IOTUNN released their new full-length, Access All Worlds, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a video for the album track, “The Weaver System” (produced by Costin Chioreanu – Twilight Media – twilight13media.com), can be viewed here:

Iotunn comments: “‘Weaver’ has been in our creative loops for several years since back when Jesper came up with the very first clean guitar part. We always knew it would appear on our debut album. For us, it’s an album highlight on its own terms, and to this day, it still sounds fresh to us. With Jón’s vocals and lyrics, the composition has found its home, and when Costin did his visual art and film, ‘Weaver’ got weaved into new spheres and perspectives. We are very proud of this collaboration and hope you’ll like what you see and hear!
Additionally, we are now ready to have the entire album released for takeoff. We present to you the whole voyage of ‘Access All Worlds‘ and encourage you to come with us and spend one focused hour listening to ‘Access All Worlds‘ from the first to the last note. We believe that we have created seven distinctive worlds constituting one world – one album, seven songs, for all of us who love listening to full albums!”

Purchase and stream Access All Worlds in full now at: metalblade.com/iotunn – where the album is available in various formats.

Formed in 2015, Iotunn (which is old Norse for “Giant”) entered the scene with their acclaimed EP, The Wizard Falls (2016), which was mixed by Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica, Morbid Angel, Blind Guardian, Rainbow) at Sweet Silence Studios. After some line-up changes, the band found their voice and narrator in March 2018: Jón Aldará (Hamferd), plus bassist Eskil Rask (Sunless Dawn) in October 2019. The quintet – completed by Jens Nicolai Gräs (guitars), Jesper Gräs (guitars), Bjørn Wind Andersen (drums) – then began work on their first full-length and Metal Blade Records debut: Access All Worlds.

Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström (In Flames, At the Gates, Dimmu Borgir) at Fredman Studios, Access All Worlds is seven songs driven by creative curiosity and artistic honesty, that also initiate feelings and reflections. An epic, cosmic and contemplative journey of energetic beauty and ferocity, Access All Worlds reflects on human existence, set in a storyline following daring space travelers. The music is grounded in roaring, colorful drumming and crushing bass, while the sonic horizon is painted with a vast spectrum of guitar-driven expression, all overarched by narration through diverse vocals. “We wanted to make an epic, strong and atmospheric yet rocking record both musically and lyrically. Jón came with the idea based on space travelers trying to find answers to the apocalypse, which reflects many of the impressions, feelings and thoughts human life holds that originates from something vast, mysterious, chaotic and breathtakingly spectacular. Everything just went berserk regarding the album theme. Is everything occurring in the lyrics just a dream? Is the album an allegory for any individual’s chapters in life? Where does the album actually start and end? Stuff like that. We find that the album can be interpreted in various ways. For us, the album is a truly exciting journey, and we hope it will be for the listener as well, on his or her own terms”, says guitarist Jens Nicolai.

Access All Worlds track-listing
1. Voyage of the Garganey I
2. Access All Worlds
3. Laihem’s Golden Pits
4. Waves Below
5. The Tower of Cosmic Nihility
6. The Weaver System
7. Safe Across the Endless Night
