Tomorrow, February 26 will see Portuguese dark metal godfathers MOONSPELL unleash their highly acclaimed 13th studio album, Hermitage, via Napalm Records.

With Hermitage, MOONSPELL is not only approaching their 30th band anniversary more ambitiously and stronger than ever, but they take us on an entertaining and emotional ride through the darkest days of human existence. MOONSPELL’s forthcoming record is a wonderfully intuitive, yet epic masterpiece, and a testament to what the band always loved the most: Honest metal that binds us even in these dark times.

Building upon the dark, revolutionary and sensitive facets of the album, MOONSPELL’s new album is also epic as hell! Inspired by their metal roots and underground metal bands like Bathory, the final single to surface before Hermitage drops, “The Hermit Saints”, takes us on an epic trip to the heights of the world and the lows of the abysses. Accented by melodic groove and bombastic choruses, this track is sure to become a fan favorite! Watch the new music video for “The Hermit Saints” right here:

“The Hermit Saints unveils even further secrets about our forthcoming album: Hermitage,” says Fernando about the track. “Make no mistake: this is a METAL song played according to Moonspell’s own signature and rules.

This song tells you about the holiness and unholiness of men, about the duality between saints and sinners. It tells of the fever that makes us cross into the desert of our own existences, perpetually looking out for the cure, that will never come until we change our ways.

Many might go. Few will come back. Lock the gates, behold The Hermit Saints!”

Hermitage was recorded, mixed and mastered this past summer by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Primordial, Ghost, Sólstafir & many more) at the Orgone Studios in the UK. The haunting cover artwork was created by Latvian artist Arthur Berzinsh.

The album will be out on February 26, 2021 via Napalm Records and will be available in several highly limited and collectible LP Editions, Mediabook and Cassette – all of them including the Candlemass cover “Darkness in Paradise” – in addition to Jewelcase and Digital formats. While the Deluxe Box sold out fast, better be quick and purchase Hermitage now at THIS LOCATION!

“We know that we are entering the final years of our career as musicians: the winter of our lifetime,” vocalist Fernando Ribeiro recently stated. “We don’t care about people saying we’re still young at heart, or “leading” wolves in a pack. We are not! But we do care about how those around us feel about us, and this album is all about how we feel, our answers to your questions.

Under these circumstances, we feel our musical stakes are higher than ever. For us, it’s not about likes or algorithms, reach, or opportunity of growth. We only care about the music. Music does come first on this album you will hold in your hands soon enough.”

He continues: “The record is about turning our backs to the conventions of modernity. We are currently convincing ourselves that it’s all about us, that we (humanity) are everything. That the world revolves around us. However, ipsi facto, we are nothing and nothing revolves around us. Moonspell’s goal, on these last turns around the Sun, is to write the best music we possibly can. To tell you a few stories with our lyrics, to be close to you in these times of distancing. We wish not to tease you or to influence you or to sell you our fish. We want to sit down with you at your table and feast together upon our notes and words. Like if we were close friends, like back in the time where music matters the most. In your bedroom listening to music, without having to post our smart remarks about it, inviting the hate in.

Hermitage is an open-hearted invitation to simplicity. To be humble. To be thankful. To serve you solace. Provide you comfort, entertainment. We sincerely hope this call reaches you. That you kindly accept what we offer. That you take our music with you to the place you must feel as yours. To your secret place, to your hermitage. Blessed be.“

French black metal pioneers SETH are now revealing the cover artwork and album details for their upcoming record ‘La Morsure du Christ’.

The history of black metal formation SETH and Season of Mist spans back to the early days of the French metal scene. The record is set for worldwide release on May 7, via Season of Mist. Presales will start soon.

The band comments: “Our sixth album, written in a typically traditional nineties black metal, has been crafted as a faithful sequel to our 1998 debut album Les Blessures de L’Ame, released at the time by Season Of Mist. La Morsure du Christ offers seven tracks, all written in Alexandrine French poetry, to be unleashed as a tribute to the second anniversary of Notre-Dame de Paris devastating blaze.“

Golden Robot Records are proud to announce the world-wide signing of renowned UK Rock Act HURRICANE #1.

With 2 top 20 albums and 7 top 40 UK and worldwide hits singles under their belt, over 1 million albums sold and extensive World, UK, European tours behind them, they are a force to be reckoned with. Signed originally to the infamous UK label Creation Records (Oasis, Primal Scream, Jesus and Mary Chain to mention a few).

Now the band has done a worldwide deal with Golden Robot Records they will be sweeping across the world in 2021 with new singles and album releases not to mention shows worldwide. Their new material has a hard-edged guitar sound, with catchy melodic choruses, a must for any hardcore H#1 fan.

‘’It an absolute pleasure to be signed with one of the best and biggest independent growing labels in the world its exactly the type of label we needed for Hurricane #1. The great thing is that GRR are not scared to take chances unlike other labels that are so absorbed in their own hype that most of them don’t really care or look after their bands. Hurricane has so much material for GRR that they could never ever run out of releases. In these darkened times of not knowing GRR and Hurricane #1 together will make the world of music a far better place A storm is brewing!’’ – Alex Lowe

CANNIBAL CORPSE Launch Video For “Inhumane Harvest”

On April 16th, CANNIBAL CORPSE will release their fifteenth studio album, Violence Unimagined, via Metal Blade Records. A new video (directed by David Brodsky // mgenyc.com) for the first single, “Inhumane Harvest”, can now be viewed here:

Rob Barrett (guitar) comments: “‘Inhumane Harvest’ takes a look inside one of organized crime’s more sinister activities: the human organ trade. Desperate buyers will pay a high price for a much-needed organ transplant to either save themselves or a loved one from certain death, which makes for a lucrative business in underground crime rings.”

Pre-order Violence Unimagined now at: metalblade.com/cannibalcorpse – where the record is available in various formats.

Comprised of eleven tracks, Violence Unimagined is state of the art death metal played with passion and breathless precision, making for another flawless addition to what is inarguably one of the premier catalogues the genre has thrown up. “It really follows the path we’ve been going down for a few years now,” states bassist and founding member Alex Webster. “I think we approach the writing in a similar way most every time: each of us try to write the heaviest, most memorable songs we can. We want each song to have its own identifiable character. Showing my age, I like to say you can ‘drop the needle’ on any point of one of our albums and quickly tell which song you’re listening to.”

While they continue to do what they do with aplomb, the one substantial change to Cannibal Corpse is the addition of guitarist Erik Rutan to their ranks, joining Webster, founding drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, guitarist Rob Barrett and vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Known for his roles in Morbid Angel, Ripping Corpse and most notably fronting the mighty Hate Eternal, Rutan has long established himself as one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary death metal. Simultaneously, he has built up a reputation as one of the most in demand producers in metal, having previously produced four Cannibal Corpse albums (in addition to Violence Unimagined), alongside the likes of Goatwhore, Soilent Green and Belphegor. Filling in live on guitar since 2019, in 2020 he became a full member, contributing to the writing process. “I think the most noticeable difference on this record will be the addition of Erik to the band. He wrote three full songs for the record, music and lyrics, and his song writing and guitar playing have added something new, and I think his musical style integrated into ours very well,” Webster enthuses. This is not all that he brings to the band. “He’s a great friend of ours, so on a personal level, he’s been a perfect fit, as we knew he would be. Beyond that, he’s one of the hardest working people I know, in music or otherwise, and he maintains a high energy, positive demeanor in challenging situations where other people might go in a negative direction. This energy and great attitude rubs off on the rest of us as well. That’s really a perfect situation to have when you add someone to a band, or any kind of team: someone who’s great at what they do, and also inspires the people around them.”

Already well known for the level of extreme technicality they bring to every record, on Violence Unimagined, Cannibal Corpse have further upped their game, particularly in Mazurkiewicz’s drumming. “I think we all pushed ourselves a bit technically on this one, with Paul probably pushing the hardest. This album is probably the most drum-intense album we’ve done yet. Part of that could be a result of Erik joining the band. His song writing style often features technically challenging drumming, probably owing to his years of experience in high speed death metal.” And with typically dark and warped lyrical content, Mazurkiewicz came up with the fitting title of the record, “summing up what the band is about in every facet, and taking violence to another level of extremity.”

Violence Unimagined track-listing
1. Murderous Rampage
2. Necrogenic Resurrection
3. Inhumane Harvest
4. Condemnation Contagion
5. Surround, Kill, Devour
6. Ritual Annihilation
7. Follow the Blood
8. Bound and Burned
9. Slowly Sawn
10. Overtorture
11. Cerements of the Flayed
