ABBATH Enter Studio To Record Third Full-Length

Norwegian metal icons ABBATH have entered the studio to begin the recording of their imminent third full-length! The band is currently residing in the Dub Studio in Kristiansand, Norway with producer Endre Kirkesola. The album is due later this year and promises to be another monumental release in the band’s already illustrious career.

The record will follow up 2019’s critically acclaimed release ‘Outstrider,’ which can be streamed, downloaded, and purchased HERE.

When Abbath announced that he had left IMMORTAL, it sent massive shockwaves through the metal scene. The iconic frontman had long become the “face” of the Norwegian black scene, his image synonymous with the genre. Upon releasing his debut album with his eponymous new band, ABBATH, in 2016, trve fans were satiated with a dose of icy, blackened fury.

While there are moments that certainly channel the frosty hallmarks of IMMORTAL, there is no danger of ABBATH repeating that formula. ABBATH draws from NWOBM and melodic influences, adding a fresh new flavor to the sound that the band’s founder came to define.

Released in 2019, ABBATH exceeded everyone’s expectation with the sophomore full-length ‘Outstrider’. The record sees a maturation in sound, delivering a tighter, well-rounded offering from the band as they come into their own identity.

THE BIG DEAL Sign With Frontiers Music, Working On New Album

Extremely promising melodic hard rock band from Serbia, THE BIG DEAL, have signed with Frontiers Music.

The band first came together when guitarist, composer, and producer Srdjan Brankovic and his wife Nevena Brankovic, who is an academic pianist and singer, met singer Ana Nikolic. Ana had spent the past few years fronting local bands, but after meeting Srdjan and Nevena, they started collaborating in the studio together. While working on some new ideas, Srdjan thought how interesting it would be to include Ana’s vocals in addition to Nevena’s in their recordings. After a couple of recordings were finished, they were overjoyed with the results and thus some of their first demos were born. These were the forerunners of the music that was presented to Frontiers and gained them a deal. The lineup for the band was then completed with the addition of drummer Marko Milojevic.

Both Srdjan and Marko are members of the most successful Serbian progressive metal band, AlogiA. Throughout his career, Srdjan has played on many festivals and tours, recorded and collaborated on countless studio and live albums, and opened for some well-known bands such as Whitesnake, Ian Paice, Apocalyptica, Savatage, and more. He was also a member of Michael Matijevic’s live band in Bulgaria. On his “Expedition Delta” and “Alogia” albums, he collaborated with names such as Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, Mark Boals, Erik Norlander, Gary Wehrkamp, Fabio Lione, and Hansi Kursch, among others.

Brankovic states, “I am happy to say that we signed a contract with the premier rock and metal label Frontiers and I am very excited that my priority in the forthcoming years will be cooperation with them. I seem to have found my music a home in the best place in the music universe, since I believe that Frontiers is a label with the best ideas and fantastic projects and releases, which have made the rock scene look far more beautiful and powerful. We start the collaboration with a newly formed band, created in a combination of ideas with Frontiers.

At the suggestion of the Director of “Frontiers”, we agreed that the name of the band will be “The Big Deal” and It will be a “must-have” for fans of melodic rock/metal. Next to me on guitar, a very exciting line-up will feature piano-virtuoso-lady who sings at the same time, Nevena, who I would characterize as an original appearance on the rock scene. Beside Nevena, another rock lady is involved, as a singer. Her name is Ana and she is a r’n’r lover, with a very authentic and beautiful voice. Marko, a friend from my parent-band, will be in charge of the drums, and a well known Frontiers associated rock star will be in charge of the bass lines (stay tuned on that).

We are already greatly in the process of recording demos for the album. Needless to say we’re absolutely thrilled about this. Cheers and stay tuned for more info!”

“Live In Hamburg” is the first solo live album by the keyboard virtuoso DON AIREY, known as a member of Deep Purple – out on February 26th.

Touring with the great and the good for decades, Don Airey has never been on the road with his own solo project. This changed when he first toured Germany in 2017 as “Don Airey & Friends”. His Friends – of course, all true professionals in their own right – are lead singer Carl Sentance (Nazareth), ex-Black Sabbath bassist Laurence Cottle, guitarist Simon McBride (Sweet Savage) and drummer Jon Finnigan (Gang of Four).

Being one of the most recorded keyboardists of all time, with over 300 albums in which he has participated, the setlist in Hamburg’s famous Fabrik included top-class hits and all-time favorites from his career such as ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ by Rainbow, ‘Still Got The Blues’ by Gary Moore or Deep Purple’s ‘Child In Time’ (which Deep Purple isn’t performing live anymore). Available as high-quality 2CD Digipak edition Don Airey’s “Live In Hamburg” must not be missing in any music collection when it releases on February 26th, 2021.

MOTÖRHEAD To Release “Louder Than Noise… Live In Berlin” On April 23rd

Motörhead and Germany… it was always a love affair.

Throughout the Grammy-Award winning band’s illustrious 40-year career, Germany never wavered in its loyal and fanatical support of MOTÖRHEAD’s untouchably loud rock ‘n’ roll, with the band regularly selling out tour after tour. And on December 5th, 2012, at the Berlin Velodrom, Motörhead played one of their biggest-ever German gigs to 12,000 delirious, delighted and demented Motörhead fans during the Kings of The Road Tour. The event was thankfully recorded, and on April 23rd, Silver Lining Music will proudly present Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin on CD with bonus DVD, double vinyl and via your favoured streaming platforms.

Leading Single ‘Over the Top’ out now, pre-order Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin here

Featuring Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin is a crowning, definitive statement as to the power the trio had long held. Theirs was a line-up which had spent decades cracking sound barriers, bending ears and decimating lawns worldwide, consistently delivering the Motörgospel to hundreds of thousands of fans, and this line-up was Motörhead’s longest serving by a considerable distance (Phil joined in 1984, Mikkey in 1992, and the band played as a trio from 1995 until the band’s final show in 2015).

Throughout Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin their powerful synergy boots its way through the speakers with the boisterous charm and dirty, dangerous, sweaty gusto that was the Kilmister/Campbell/Dee trademark. From the unapologetically furious “I Know How to Die” to a deliciously raucous “Going to Brazil”, Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin is all about the thick, raw and liberating power of Motörhead live, with longtime producer Cameron Webb bringing his mixing skills to the party as well as doing a 5.1 mix of the DVD. Further highlights include a favorably feral “Rock It”, a rudely raunchy “You Better Run” and a classic one-two haymaker of “Ace of Spades” and “Overkill”. The leading track from the album will be a cranium-cracking “Over the Top”, a song which must be as close to definitive of this band as you’ll ever find.

The whole night was captured by Herwig Meyszner, who has also produced concert films for the likes of Saxon, Exodus and Kreator, with a multi-camera no-shot-missed shoot that captures not just the energy onstage but the energy on the floor. In so many ways, Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin is a joyous celebration of Lemmy, Phil, Mikkey and this special night in Germany, and whether a collector completist or newbie to Motörhead’s music, Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin is a welcome reminder of what real rock ‘n’ roll is truly about.

Tomorrow, February 19th, Italy’s very own OJM will release their brand new album, titled “Live At Rocket Club”, via Go Down Records. “Live At Rocket Club” captures OJM in one of their best ever moments, the tour that promoted the band’s album “Volcano” (2010), which reached fame and success thanks to the production and mixing of Dave Catching (QOTSA, Desert Sessions, Eagles of Death Metal). Today the band from from Treviso, Italy, unleashed the second single taken from their upcoming live album, streaming right here:

The band comments:
“‘Oceans Hearts” is a song with vintage rock hints. It is a small pearl that makes us very proud with its elegant and powerful arrangements at the same time. In the finale of this live version, lysergic horizons open up with a long jam session between psychedelia and improvisation. To be listened to the end!“

  4. Wolf
  5. Ocean Hearts
