EYEHATEGOD Announce March 11 Online ‘A History Of Nomadic Behavior’ Listening Party

EYEHATEGOD, whose eagerly-awaited new album, A History of Nomadic Behavior, arrives on March 12, join fans for an online album listening party on March 11, taking the audience through each track as they give attendees an opportunity to hear the 12-song before its release.

“Be the first to cut to the front of the line to check out the new album, A History of Nomadic Behavior, before its official release date,” says Eyehategod singer Mike IX Williams. “Refill your prescriptions and make use of your lockdown time while we spin the newest EHG material. Dress accordingly.”

Revolver and Full Metal Jackie, in association with Century Media Records, host the celebratory evening, with the event streaming at 1 p.m. pacific/4 p.m. eastern on Revolver’s YouTube channel.

“I’m really excited to host Eyehategod’s upcoming listening party! I’m a huge fan– these guys helped pioneer NOLA sludge and have inspired countless artists.” Adds Full Metal Jackie. “Dangerous music for dangerous people! A History of Nomadic Behavior is their first new record in seven years — they sound lean & mean as ever!!”

News of the celebratory evening arrives as the band unveils a lyric video for “Built Beneath The Lies”, a song Metal Injection called a “acidic, sludgy affair from the Southern lords of riff” and Brooklyn Vegan dubbed a “rager.” Check it out HERE!

“Built Beneath the Lies” is the third preview from the forthcoming A History of Nomadic Behavior, with the New Orleans-based band releasing both the “bulldozing” (Revolver) song “Fake What’s Yours” and the prescient “banger” ( Stereogum) “High Risk Trigger”. Early coverage of the album points to a worthy return for the storied sludge outfit, with The Pit saying A History of Nomadic Behavior “keeps up their incredible legacy” and Exclaim noting the release “offers all of the moody, distorted aggression that we’ve come to expect from the band.”

The album’s arrivalfollows a period that saw the New Orleans based band on the road for three years, preceded by Williams suffering liver failure and a transplant. “We toured our asses off for three years and that’s where A History of Nomadic Behavior basically comes from,” adds Williams before touching on his health challenge: “Death is a part of life, it’s a roll of the dice. Sometimes you take life as it comes, other times you fight to stay alive .” The album was produced by Eyehategod, Sanford Parker (Yob, Voivod) and James Whitten (Thou, High on Fire), with mixing by Whitten. The band recorded at HighTower Recording and Hypercube studios.

The album is available in various formats and can be pre – ordered HERE!

THE CROWN Launch Video For New Single “We Drift On”

On March 12, THE CROWN will release their new album, Royal Destroyer, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of Royal Destroyer, a video for the new single, “We Drift On” (directed by Christoffer Tönnäng and Oskar Norberger), can be viewed here:

Guitarist Marko Tervonen comments: “I think that after 30 years, people are aware that we can play pretty brutal music. But we also sometimes like to take it down a notch and explore other areas. I guess in 2021, it’s pretty difficult to ‘surprise’ people with a brutal song, so we hope to surprise you with this more mellow tune. Dare I even use the word ‘ballad’ *insert-fear-here*
Ok. Lean back, drift on and enjoy.”

The previously released single, “Motordeath”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/thecrown – where Royal Destroyer can also be pre-ordered in various formats.

Having celebrated their thirtieth anniversary in 2020 [their first eight years spent as Crown Of Thorns], The Crown have proven themselves one of the most enduring forces in death metal. In 2021, they further up the ante with Royal Destroyer, a record that sets a new standard for the genre. “It is our album number ten, so now we are in the big boys club,” says bassist Magnus Olsfelt. “I think it in some ways is our crowning achievement, and it encompasses our sound across all albums on one defining record. It’s got it all – the early 90s death metal stuff, the haunting melodies, the thrash, the punk, the grind, the heavy metal and the more epic and doomy stuff.”

With 2018’s Cobra Speed Venom, the band reached the same lofty heights as their 2002 landmark release, Crowned In Terror, but they were primed and ready to write its successor. “It surely set the bar up high for a follow up,” Olsfelt explains. “But it’s more inspiring than daunting. We have a real good vibe in the band, so we know we are capable of creating great stuff if we all just put our hearts to it and work hard.” Confident, they pushed ahead, with the idea of making a sequel to Cobra Speed Venom – a sequel meaning “more of everything”.

Together with legendary producer Fredrik Nordström, the band tracked the resulting 10 songs at Gothenburg’s Studio Fredman. “We push ourselves to the limit, really trying to make everything as good as it can get, trying to make every song as impactful as possible,” Olsfelt states. While he believes that people need to hear the album themselves to be able to accurately describe it, Olsfelt also asserts that The Crown have achieved something that makes for a “continuous whole” – while being diverse. There are also some surprises in store for fans. “We have some of the most intense stuff ever, like one song is about one minute long, and we also have a ballad!”

AMORPHIS guitarist Esa Holopainen‘s solo project SILVER LAKE will release the self-titled debut album on May 28th via Nuclear Blast!

Esa Holopainen on album: “Over the last few years, I have been writing a lot of music, and some of the stuff hasn’t exactly sounded like Amorphis. When Nino Laurenne, owner of Sonic Pump Studios called me late March, I already had three decent-sounding SILVER LAKE songs in stock. These tracks, entitled ‘Sentiment’, ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘Promising Sun’, worked as the backbone for the full solo album.”

“At first, I really didn’t know if the album would turn out to be purely instrumental or would there be vocalists as well. However, one thing was certain, I wouldn’t be the singer of SILVER LAKE. Therefore I started to ask several friends and favourite singers of mine that joined me from their home studios on these 9 new tracks to be featured on SILVER LAKE By ESA HOLOPAINEN”

  1. Silver Lake (instrumental)
  2. Sentiment (feat. Jonas Renkse of Katatonia)
  3. Storm (feat. Håkan Hemlin of Nordman)
  4. Ray Of Light (feat. Einar Solberg of Leprous)
  5. Alkusointu (feat. Vesa-Matti Loiri)
  6. In Her Solitude (feat Tomi Joutsen of Amorphis)
  7. Promising Sun (feat. Björn ‘Speed’ Strid of Soilwork / The Night Flight Orchestra)
  8. Fading Moon (feat. Anneke Van Giersbergen)
  9. Apprentice (feat. Jonas Renkse of Katatonia)

The moody cover art work was created by Metastazis.

JOHN MELLENCAMP has announced he’s set to unveil his new live album and documentary titled: The Good Samaritan Tour this spring. The documentary, which will be narrated by Academy® Award winner Matthew McConaughey, chronicles Mellencamp’s historic free tour in 2000 when he performed on street corners and in public parks across the country.

In addition, Mellencamp will soon return to the studio to finish recording his 25th album. Prior to the onset of the Global Pandemic, he had already cut ten tracks and plans to record another 17 for the project. Teasing what’s to come, he shared a clip of one new tune, “I Always Lie To Strangers.” Listen to the new track here. Look out for more news on the release date and touring information soon.

The new music is just one of many new projects Mellencamp has been working on including original plays, paintings and more.

His documentary It’s About You  is now available to be viewed in full at www.mellencamp.com. The documentary, which came out in 2012, highlights his 2009 No Better Than This tour with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.

In addition to music and film, Mellencamp will resume production (Covid pending) for an untitled original play directed by Kathleen Marshall, produced by Scott Landis, and written by Naomi Wallace. Setting the stage, he dropped a video of Connor Antico and Morgan Pereira rehearsing virtually. Watch it HERE.

During the past year-and-a-half Mellencamp has continued to devote much of his time to painting.

THE DEVIL’S TRADE Shares Industrial Remix Of ‘Dead Sister’ Ft. John Connor

Posted by tarjavirmakari on February 17, 2021

Dark folk project THE DEVIL’S TRADE has teamed up with industrial noise collective JOHN CONNOR (ft. members of LLNN) to collaborate on a new creative approach for the track “Dead Sister,” which is taken from the band’s latest opus, ‘The Call of the Iron Peak.’ With the incorporation of dark beats and other electronic additions, a new sonic version was born; ‘Dead Sister Merope!’ The song and accompanying music video are available at THIS LOCATION.

THE DEVIL’S TRADE comments on the collaboration: “Only a handful of bands create such worlds I can relate to and when I saw LLNN in Budapest a few years ago, I immediately became a fan. So when Rasmus and Ketil asked me about their new electronic project, John Connor, I had a very hard time not to act like a crazy fanboy. Being a singer songwriter without a band I can build my songs up to a certain level but never to its full potential. They built it to a higher level where I am not able to go alone and where it became bigger than just a song.”

JOHN CONNOR comments on the collaboration: “With admiration for sci-fi music composers such as Alex North (Stanley Kubrick, 2001 – A Space Odyssey), Jóhan Jóhannsson (Denis Villeneuve, Arrival) and of course Brad Fiedel (James Cameron, Terminator) our creative approach was to launch ‘Dead Sister’ into space and in orbit. To create ‘something else’ light years apart from the original. Though still by maintaining the integrity and sincerity of the vocals. We’ve been enjoying the music from The Devil’s Trade for quite some time now, so it’s been a great experience to finally be working together. It’s an interesting match of musical expressions formed by the same DNA.“

‘The Call of the Iron Peak’ is out NOW and can be ordered, streamed, and downloaded HERE.
