ELECTRIC BOYS Release New Video And Single “Super God”

Today, influential Swedish rockers ELECTRIC BOYS release the single “Super God”, the first to be taken from the band’s upcoming album “Ups!de Down”, which will be released by Mighty Music on April 30th. “Super God” is also released as a fantastic music video, which can be seen here, on the Mighty Music official YouTube page.

Singer/guitarist Conny Bloom comments about the song: “Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it’s Super God! Here’s some wah-wah/conga groove to take you higher!“.

“Super God” can be streamed download via this link.

The Electric Boys are much loved for their idiosyncratic combination of hard rock and other forms of music such as funk beginning with their first album “Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride” in 1989. On April 30th 2021 the band will release worldwide their seventh album “Ups!de Down” which continues and advances this fusion of music styles to make something of their very, very own.

Recorded at Ghost Ward studios like their successful previous album “The Ghost Ward Diaries” and co-produced with David Castillo the album showcases the songwriting and performing talents of founder members Conny Bloom on guitar and vocals and Andy Christell on bass while also introducing  ‘Slim’ Martin Thomander on guitar. Jolle Atlagic plays all the drums on the album, as the band’s original drummer Niclas Sigevall – still very much part of the band – could not leave LA due to the pandemic.

The album reflects the turbulent times of this year and spontaneously and organically formed into a concept album tackling adversity and fearmongering and championing the human fighting spirit and ability to transcend even the most difficult situations to find hope and victory over life’s circumstances. As such the album taps into the collective consciousness of 2020, being contemporary while also drawing on a wide variety of influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Bowie, 50’s Rock and Roll, late Beatles and even the Sisters of Mercy. Probably less funky than some of the band’s earlier material it is no less eclectic and provides a potent cocktail reflecting the history of rock and roll and the light and darkness of existence.

“You can see the light at the end of the tunnel rather than simply the runaway train” in songs like “This Is Not The End”. When things are This big and seem out of control you can reverse it and gain control by letting it go.” (Conny Bloom). The freethinking and rebellious spirit of the band is alive and well in this latest album and the belief in the power of the message of music and its ability to change the world.

People commonly mention to the band that Electric Boys songs have changed their lives, inspiring them to take up instruments and how much the band’s songs have meant to their fans. Known for his fine guitar work and languidly cool persona Conny Bloom is also recognized for his work with Hanoi Rocks and Ginger in the Wildhearts. Andy Christell also joined Hanoi Rocks with Conny and with his distinctive top knot is the epitome of steady, bellbottom-fluttering rock bass.

The band has a tour planned in Sweden and is hoping to widen and include more dates worldwide as circumstances permit.

“Ups!de Down” will be released in digital, LP (four different formats) and CD formats by Mighty Music on 30th April 2021.

DJERV Release Music Video For Latest Single “(We Don’t) Hang No More”

DJERV strike again!Today, the fierce duo drops the music video for their latest single (“We Don’t) Hang No More”! Watch the music video premiere over at Consequence of Sound (US), or on YouTube! You can listen to the single here: https://orcd.co/wedonthangnomore

Consequence of Sound (US) writes: “While the song is about ending relationships, for many, the central theme and title ring especially poignant in these trying times. Many of us, and especially those in the community-oriented music world, are unable to see or hang out with friends and family. Djerv address this almost universal pain in the expressive video and lyrics for the song, which expands on the group’s idiosyncratic style of blackened alternative metal.”

The band has commented: “This song is about going different ways, and accepting that despite wanting to be together, that is not always the best choice. Although the theme of the song may be sombre, we wanted a light-hearted approach to the video. So hang in there — even if it’s not together.”

After a six-year-long hibernation, Djerv made a successful comback in 2020 with the singles “(We Don’t) Hang No More” and “Throne”. Now, the singles are available as a 7” vinyl single release! Available on red and yellow vinyl, and in limited T-Shirt bundles. Order at Indie Recordings Webshop!

GHOSTS OF SUNSET Release Debut EP “Headed West”

GHOSTS OF SUNSET have been a revelation since appearing on the scene in 2020. They are proving that there is still a hell of a lot of life left in the hard rock/hair metal scene. Their 80’s Hollywood styled hard rock has caused quite a stir with their recent three singles Miles In-Between and Never Goodbye (both well over 100,000 Spotify streams) and Another Rock N’ Roll Show which is not far behind.

Watch Miles In Between Official Video HERE

Their latest single Headed West (once you’ve become the biggest bands in your hometown, the only next logical step is to take it to the proving ground that was the 1980s Sunset Strip) hit the airwaves on Monday and now the day has come for the Headed West EP to be released.

Watch Never Goodbye Lyric Video HERE

Their debut EP Headed West is a 6-track concept EP based on the 1980s rock/hair/metal scene, by Ghosts of Sunset, featuring John Merchant (ex- Dutch Henry) and Todd Long (ex – The Verve Pipe). It takes a fictional US midwestern band, their move to LA, and the rise and decline as the industry itself changes. They also invited a list of L.A. rock royalty to appear on the EP.

Among those who appeared on the EP are: Tim Mosher (Junkyard), Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Bruno Ravel (Danger Danger), Adam Hamilton (ex-Tuff), Brian Roth, Patrick Kennison (Lita Ford), Johnny Monaco (Ex Enuff Z’Nuff) and Kent Slucher (Luke Bryan).

ABOUT GHOSTS OF SUNSET
Ghosts of Sunset is the project of singer-songwriter John Merchant from Western Michigan, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Todd Long.

Their upcoming EP Headed West features the work of both Merchant and Long (who have made music for 30+ years for 615 Records Nashville, IDOL/RCA records, and independently) as well as a cast of musicians with their roots in the 1980’s hard rock/hair metal scene. The duo brought in outside musicians with resumes that include L.A. Guns, RATT, Enuff Znuff, KIX, Lita Ford, and more to complete the EP. Renowned producer Adam Hamilton (Missing Persons, L.A. Guns, Vains of Jenna, William Shatner, David Hasselhoff) was brought in to mix and contribute keyboards.

The concept takes a fictional Midwestern band and traces their move to Los Angeles, their rise to national touring artist and their decline as tastes and the industry itself changes. The story which has become common fodder for shows such as Behind the Music spoke to both Merchant and Long who came of age during the golden era which became known as “hair metal”. A term speaks to what many saw as a focus on style over substance.

The EP will be released globally by Golden Robot Records, presents the songs in chronological order and the listener not only takes the journey via the lyrics, but also in the production style and writing maturation process. As the six song EP moves along, the tone darkens, the themes reflect the bands disillusionment before ultimately circling back to making music for the “love of the game”.

VOLA Release New Video/Single ‘Straight Lines’ From Upcoming Album ‘Witness’

The genre-welding Danish-Swedish quartet VOLA return with their brand-new album, Witness, on 21 May, released on Mascot Records. Ahead of this they have revealed the official video for “Straight Lines,” which you can see below.

Witness comes nearly three years after the release of ‘Applause of a Distant Crowd,’ which saw the band go deep into the rabbit-hole, exploring society’s distractions from thoughtfulness and examined the way human relationships have evolved. Their new album goes a step further, shining a light on the subject of failed relationships, on a societal scale—the friction between leaders and followers, which is caused by the misuse of power.

“If I zoom in,” guitarist-singer Asger Mygind says. “The failure is born from unrequited love, grief, manipulative behaviour and insecurity. Connecting it with the album title, one could view the characters portrayed in the lyrics as being witnesses to the dissolution of the bond they have created with people in their lives.”

The band have also revealed the stunning video for the album opener, “Straight Lines.” Discussing the song, Mygind explains, “Imagine someone being on the run from the authorities. It is becoming increasingly hard for this person to hide, which “running low on straight lines” can be seen as a metaphor. He/she can’t just choose the direct route but has to be creative to escape. Whether the hunt is real or just in the person’s head should be an open question for the listener.”

Napalm
Future Bird
Stone Leader Falling Down
Inside Your Fur
Head Mounted Sideways

Last year the band revealed their first taster of the new album with “Head Mounted Sideways.’’ The song elegantly flows in and out of crushing riffs and hauntingly beautiful melodies all with the musical complexity that has become the hallmark of a VOLA song. “The ‘head-mounted sideways’ is another metaphor, for ‘looking the other way,’” says Asger Mygind. “I did not have any plan with the lyrics, but once I knew that they should convey anger, it was intuitive to talk about the decline of civilizations and not taking responsibility for the obvious decline. It didn’t necessarily speak about Earth in 2020. What I felt was important to get across was the image of a world built on flawed morals, and how this world eventually crumbles and falls due to the cracks in the foundation.”

VOLA wrote the songs after they returned from their successful 2019 headline tour across Europe. The tour had a string of sold-out shows along the way. It capped off an incredible two years, which had seen them also tour with Dream Theater, Anathema, Katatonia, Haken, Monuments, as well as show-stealing performances at Euroblast, Ramblin’ Man Fair, Radar Festival, Bloodstock, Damnation Fest, Tech Fest and more.

The album’s themes are entwined into both the cover art and the title as Mygind elaborates; “The cover art of the album largely inspired the title. To me, the image could either portray the close-up of an eye, or a zoomed-out image of something burning. In case of the eye, I imagine that it belongs to someone witnessing an event. Something huge and life changing. In case of burning, it is the viewer of the cover art who becomes the witness. Or maybe this burning is what the eye is looking at. No matter how I look at it, the concept of being a witness seems very present in the artwork.”

The album was produced by the band and it was mixed and mastered by the Grammy nominated Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amaranthe). Each song presents its unique characters, some are fictional, and real events inspire some. “24 Light-years,” follows someone searching for a vanished relative – are they lost/dead? How deep does the story dive? “Freak,“ delves into insecurity and power, “Napalm,” represents a failed relationship and the remorse and regret that follows, whilst “Stone Leader Falling Down,” highlights bullying and the misuse of power and “Inside Your Fur,” explores the ills of nostalgia.

“Future Bird” is a heartbreaking story based on real events. “I got the idea for those lyrics after having read a Facebook post by a couple who had lost an unborn child. They told about the pregnancy and their emotions directed towards this human being they never got to meet.” He continues, “The “future bird” is a metaphor for the child who never got the chance to grow up and make a mark on the world.”

“These Black Claws” is a metaphor for addiction and the experience of being pulled back through the darkness and features electronic/hip-hop duo, SHAHMEN. Bless (vocalist in SHAHMEN) contributed all the lyrics for his verse. Mygind says, “I think his vocals contribute with a demonic vibe while adding groove to the track. The beat in the verse is very hip hop inspired, so putting rap on top feels like fulfilling the potential of that part.” The lyrics “One straw in the drain/One word that you failed to sustain”  echoes over and over before the band rip into a Panzer heavy attack as the song spirals deep into a suffocating heaviness.

Always evocative, VOLA glide along, barely a breath away from their subject matter, holding the listener close and silent as you observe the journey unfold. It’s their ability to create a cinematic aesthetic that allows you to be a detached observer, but also enveloped in the narrative, pulling you deeper within the rabbit hole, following the story further down into its veins.

VOLA are Asger Mygind (vocals/guitar), Martin Werner (keys), Nicolai Mogensen (bass) and Adam Janzi (drums).

TETRARCH To Release New Album “Unstable” On April 30th

After making massive strides at media, radio, streaming and beyond in 2020, breakout metal stars  TETRARCH are about to own 2021 with the release of their highly anticipated sophomore full-length album, Unstable, scheduled to drop on April 30 via Napalm Records! The album is available for pre-order in several exciting formats, beginning today.

Following the release of their latest hit “I’m Not Right” – an anthem that cracked the Mediabase Active Rock Top 30 and has commanded the scene since its release with over four million combined cross-platform streams – TETRARCH have revealed another blazing new single, “You Never Listen”. The earworm ode to relationships-gone-bad, which premiered via SiriusXM Liquid Metal, packs a punch with chunky, breakneck riffs and a sing-a-long worthy chorus, proving it as an accessible yet dynamic knockout.

TETRARCH frontman/guitarist Josh Fore says about the track:
“‘You Never Listen’ is for anybody who has struggled or is struggling through a broken relationship – whether it be with a family member, friend, significant other, or even with themselves. So many times, we find that people we once were close with or felt like we knew well show a darker and different side of themselves that forces us apart. ‘You Never Listen’ is about having the strength to say enough is enough and to rid yourself of those toxic situations.”

Lead guitarist Diamond Rowe adds about the track’s blistering new music video:
“We wanted to do something unexpected and approach the song from a different lens. Conceptually, the video follows a young kid who is obviously living in a bad situation in a messed-up home. Throughout the video, the kid deals with the inner voices and visions in his head, represented by the band members appearing and disappearing, as he struggles to understand what’s real and what isn’t. As the song ramps up, we wanted to portray the kid as telling those voices to shut up as he takes control and rids himself of the negative energy around him.”

Produced by the band and Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Allegaeon, Khemmis), Unstable follows the band’s breakout debut Freak (2017). The new album shines not only as a natural step forward for TETRARCH, but a giant leap ahead – an even more focused effort combining bright flourishes, grooving low-end and soaring choruses. Unstable wastes no time igniting with the unforgettable, punching first single “I’m Not Right”. Boosted by frontman Josh Fore’s raw emotion and dynamic vocal style, the track pays homage to the genre’s greats while lifted by the eerie leads of trailblazing lead guitarist Diamond Rowe. Radio-ready, lyrically-relevant tracks like anti-bullying anthem for the ages “Sick Of You” and empowering “You Never Listen” showcase TETRARCH’s hefty progressions and unforgettable choruses. Unstable’s heaviest offerings prove the band’s dynamic assault of varying heavy styles, most notedly on assertive breakneck burner “Negative Noise” – a track that will turn the heads of metal’s greatest riffers with Rowe’s mighty axe attack – and on the melodically chilling “Take A Look Inside”, highlighting the powerful rhythm section of bassist Ryan Lerner and drummer Ruben Limas. The album explores a brooding, introspective side of the band on the standout, melodic “Addicted” and closer track “Trust Me”, which trickles-in supernatural atmosphere. Delivering heavy hit after hit, Unstable is 10 tracks of pure potency and undeniable talent.

Diamond Rowe says about the album:
“The album has an overall theme of self-reflection and really looking at the relationships or parts of yourself/your life that you don’t like and getting out of those situations. It’s an angsty record. Musically, we were not timid in showing that we refuse to be boxed in as artists, and I think we really came out swinging with showing the world the type of band that we want to be. Freak did great for us and showed us that the music we were making was something that people wanted to hear, and that gave us the confidence to write and record this beast of an album.”

Fierce individuality and a fearless embrace of the outsider are at the heart of TETRARCH. The band’s tireless hard work and relentless determination has established them as one of the top up-and-coming bands in heavy music, catching the attention of major media including Pollstar (cover mention), Billboard, Revolver, Alternative Press, Guitar World, Guitar Player, Premier Guitar, Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, many in which lead guitarist Diamond Rowe was the first African American female lead guitarist from the heavy metal genre to be featured. TETRARCH has been featured on Spotify playlists such as Kickass Metal, Rock Hard, New Blood (cover featured) and Metal Tracks and has also seen stellar support from Apple Music and their users, appearing on several additional playlists. Having appeared on major festivals such as Epicenter and Exit 111, TETRARCH will charge back into the major touring scene upon its resurgence with renewed persistence and the mighty nonconformist’s spirit that has driven them since day one.
