Finnish Helsinki-based symphonic death/black metal band ABSTRAKT released their second single Etherstorms from an upcoming second studio album Uncreation. The album is set to be released on February 25th 2021 via Inverse Records.

The band comments:“Even though Radiant Darkness left you missing some teeth and with blackened eyes it was just a calm before the storm. The esoteric rage of Etherstorms, massive choirs and overwhelming orchestrations will expand the listener’s mind and open a portal to another dimension.”

Abstrakt was formed by Nightderanger and Azul Corax in spring of 2008. Abstrakt was a two-man project and our first demo was recorded with session musicians in February 2011. Progress was slow but steady and after two more demos, we began to create our first album, Obsidian and to recruit more musicians. Obsidian was published in November 2013 and finally in spring of 2014 it was time for our first gig. Shortly after our first gigs, we were again without a drummer and bassist. Nightderanger, Azul Corax and Apostate continued composing new material. In August 2016 we recorded our last demo so far which included three songs which all are included in our second album. We regained a full line-up and some gigs were played. In January 2019 the final recordings of our second album had begun, slowly but surely and the recordings were completed in October 2020. Now our second album, UNCREATION, is finished and Abstrakt is in its best shape ever, hungrier, angrier and better than ever before.

On February 11th, Dutch metal veterans COUNTESS will release their long-awaited new full-length album, entitled ‘Banners Of Blood’.

‘Banners Of Blood’ is the band’s sixteenth full-length and features twelve tracks of uncompromising metal music, blending first wave Black Metal and traditional Heavy Metal in a way only Countess can.

The albums features two songs in Dutch and, for the first time, a song in Russian: ‘Ledovoye Poboishche’ (‘Battle On The Ice’) tells the story of Alexander Nevsky’s great victory over the crusader knights in 1242 CE.

The new album also marks the first appearance on a Countess full-length of guitarist Valgard and keyboardist Häxa.

Fans can get a first taste of the new album as of today. A digital single has been released for the song ‘Last Man Of Honour’. This song was inspired by the life of Saigo Takamori, who is often considered to have been the last true samurai and who was born on this day in 1828 CE. The single is available on all major platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer and as well as a free download on the band’s official Bandcamp site.

The album’s full track list:

  1. Sword Of The Millennia
  2. Below The Sky
  3. Wall Of The North
  4. Ledovoye Poboishche
  5. Night Of The Fallen
  6. Banners Of Blood
  7. Pagan Man
  8. Fall Of The Achaemenid Empire
  9. Slachting Der Saksen
  10. Last Man Of Honour
  11. Toortsen Uit Het Verleden
  12. Sword Symphony

Countess is a Dutch band that has been unleashing metal music upon the world since 1992, releasing sixteen full-length albums along the way. Countess’ unique style of metal is characterized by an uncompromising loyalty to the old Heavy Metal and Black Metal traditions. The most important influences of Countess are the old Black Metal legends like Venom, Bathory and Hellhammer and traditional Heavy Metal bands like Manowar and Manilla Road. In 2014 the band returned to the stage after a long absence, delivering impressive performances at a selection of prestigious metal festivals in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Finland. Countess currently consists of Orlok (vocals and bass), Valgard (guitars), Mortüüm (drums) and Häxa (keyboards).

Drummer Daniel Szabo of EKTOMORF Joined Hungarian OMEGA DIATRIBE

Hungarian Extreme Groove Metal band OMEGA DIATRIBE changed their drummer, after releasing their quite intense fourth record called “Metanoia”, which was produced by the famous Swedish producer Jens Bogren and released by Metal Scrap Records.

After the relatively short career in the band, Richard Szpuszenik’s job has been taken over by Daniel Szabo, who can be known from Ektomorf’s and Bloody Roots’s history.

“Fortunately, the member change happened in the best possible way. It has always been the most important for Omega Diatribe to operate like a family, in sync, since this can affect the stage performance. Thankfully, the unity is complete again and heavier than ever before!” – founder guitarist, Gergo Hajer said about the member exchange.

Then drummer, Daniel Szabo continued:
“We try to spend more and more time together to reach the point when you can listen/see the band in the heaviest form if the live music can finally get a green flag. Luckily, this style suits me perfectly, so I can lightly get myself through this progressive groove-labyrinth”.

The band and its management work at full blast on the replacement of national and international concerts, which hopefully will be held during this year.

Singer, Milan Lucsanyi added:
“Overall the crew behind the band is working very effectively, so hopefully, when the gates open, we can get on a bus and head all the way through the continent. Of course, the chaos is numerous in the background and no one knows anything for sure, but we are greatly happy, that the organisers are also working with us to get back on stage”.

Having inked a deal with Prosthetic Records in 2020, PUPIL SLICER have announced their debut album, Mirrors. Due for release on March 12, the London, UK based mathcore trio are celebrating the announcement with the release of new single, Wounds Upon My Skin, and an accompanying video premiering now via Metal Injection. The track is available to listen to via Bandcamp now, and on all digital platforms.

Of the announcement, Katie Davies (vocals/guitars) comments: “Wounds Upon My Skin was one of the first tracks we wrote for this album and marked a turning point where I realised I could really write anything I wanted to put in a song and make it work. It was also the starting place for the thematic elements of the album, it was the first time I had explored more introspective and personal concepts in my lyrics.”

“I used Mirrors as a vehicle to exorcise many painful experiences; topics of abuse, social anxiety and depression alongside the injustices, iniquities and oppression that many are forced to endure simply due to their existence make up the fabric of this LP. The title Mirrors itself is an example of these themes of introspection whilst also representing the reflection of the reality of society many face today. The response we got to our first single was overwhelmingly positive and we can’t wait for you to experience the rest of what we have put together.”

Having spent two years honing their craft and refining their sound, PUPIL SLICER set out to record new material in 2019 with Pedram Valiani of Frontierer/Sectioned overseeing production, and mastering taken care of by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. In late 2020 they released the single, L’appel Du Vide featuring Carson Pace of the Callous Daoboys, paving the way for this full-length to follow. Mirrors captures the frenetic energy that propels PUPIL SLICER forward, making their snarling blend of mathcore, grindcore, death metal and more a truly essential listen.

Mirrors tracklist
1. Martyrs
2. Stabbing Spiders
3. L’Appel Du Vide

NAIPIA Release New Single ‘Bluestown’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 25, 2021

Hailing from Brighton and Hove in the UK, NAIPIA combine indie, rock and pop genres, leaving audiences with addictive hooks and melodies etched into their minds.

Naipia have created a lot of noise in the UK and beyond with their recently released singles  Lonely  and  Tightropes. Now they’ve released their next single Bluestown via Golden Robot Records and it might just be their best track yet!

“Bluestown is a song that has had a few different forms through its lifetime before it finally sat comfortably in Naipia. The song was written in a time of self reflection whilst feeling the weight of guilt I had on my shoulders after receiving a life changing process. I was looking into the way I would pair myself with someone who was willing to walk the knife’s edge and make mistakes with me. Essentially I was subconsciously going out of my way to create relationships with women who through their own pasts/habits would feed into mine, leading to a downward spiral eventually for both of us.

I felt an immense level of responsibility for my actions, but by the time I did, it felt too late in some ways. So this song for me was a note to myself that I recognise that person in me, but it isn’t me. I won’t be deluded by glamorisation of drugs with the thought of them making me feel free and I won’t ever put someone else in situations to feed that part of me that I recognise.” – George Dewhurst (Naipia)

Stream/buy Bluestown HERE

After losing himself in NAPIER along the New Zealand coast, songwriter George Dewhurst re-found the music inside him and returned home to create his latest project: Naipia, along with drummer Matt Leppenwell and bassist Harry Dewhurst.

By honing their sound in a machinery warehouse for the past half-year, Naipia emerged with a quiet confidence boasting an intimate pop-rock sound fused with folkish vocal melodies that at once feel both unique and familiar.

Vocalist George can be found at the front of the stage, shoe-less, in a power stance insisting you feel every word that leaves his mouth. At his side, Cousin Harry on bass, who has a natural talent at sitting in the pocket with simple, melodic grooves and Matt on drums who holds the band together with his tight-knit, and creative rhythm.

Together with personal lyrics tucked into beautiful melodies, and an ensemble that prides themselves on their tightness and groove, Naipia will leave you dancing, smiling and thirsty for more.
