GRAHAM BONNET has announced that he is currently recording a new studio album with bandmates Beth-Ami Heavenstone (bass), Conrad Pesinato (guitar), and Mark Zonder (drums). In addition to the core band, some special guests will be lending their talents to the album, including legendary keyboardist Don Airey (Deep Purple, Rainbow). The names of more guests will be revealed in the coming weeks, so be sure to tune into Graham’s social media to see those announcements.

Explains Bonnet, “Similar to the first two albums, it will reflect different eras of my career, but with a contemporary twist. Also, we have some heavy hitting guests including Don Airey and others yet to be announced. I’m very excited to be playing on an album with Don again. Aside from being my longtime friend and former bandmate, he is one of the most incredible musicians I have ever had the pleasure to play with, he’s a “real” keyboard player… a classically trained pianist. I’m also delighted to be playing with the original members of the Graham Bonnet Band: Beth-Ami Heavenstone who has been my constant partner (on and off stage) since meeting back in 2012, guitarist Conrado Pesinato, who’s innate musical style elicits some of my best songwriting, and the iconic Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Warlord) on drums.”

The album is anticipated to be released in summer 2021. Fans can follow Graham’s social media for regular updates on the recording of the album.

Graham Bonnet is a hard rock legend with a pedigree to back that statement up. His stints with Rainbow, MSG, Alcatrazz, and Impellitteri prove he is one of the finest rock vocalists of his generation. The upcoming album will be the Graham Bonnet Band’s third release with Frontiers Music Srl, following the well-received and critically praised “The Book” and “Meanwhile, Back In The Garage”.

SARIN Sign To Prosthetic Records, New Album ‘You Can’t Go Back’ Out February 5th

Having inked a deal with Prosthetic Records, Toronto based post-metal four-piece, SARIN, have today announced their third full-length album,You Can’t Go Back, out on February 5, 2021. The band have also released lead single, Reckoner, with an accompanying music video, produced by digital and analog cinematic auteur Gabriel Masewich.

Listen to Reckoner via here.

You Can’t Go Back is available to pre-order via Bandcamp here, and will be made available to pre-save on all DSPS on January 8.

Of the signing, David Wilson (guitar / vocals) comments: “We’ve always thought of Prosthetic as being at the forefront of modern heavy music, whether that’s all out hardcore or more drawn out and experimental styles, and we’re ecstatic to be sharing the space with bands like Undeath and Vile Creature. I still get excited seeing the same Prosthetic Records logo on our album that I saw on so many albums I loved growing up.”

Talking on Reckoner, David adds: “Reckoner is about scrambling and ultimately failing to hold on to an old identity. The record was written during a period of personal change, and the song encapsulates the struggles and rewards of consciously choosing to take more command of your life. Sonically, it’s probably one of the most direct songs we’ve ever written, and serves up the heaviness with as little fluff as possible.”

Recorded at The Sugar Shack in London, Ontario by Simon Larochette and later mastered by James Plotkin, You Can’t Go Back captures SARIN‘s crushing post-metal at its dynamic best. The emotionally charged origins of the album’s lyrical themes lend themselves to the tonally dense and memorable song structures that build tension throughout, balancing crushing intensity with fleetingly gentle passages, that reveal the therapeutic nature of the record.

Although You Can’t Go Back is imbued with enough silver linings to make the album an inspirational listen, the process of change – and all its agonising facets – is never far from view. The cover artwork by Eliza Xenophon, in all its vibrant glory, hints at the churning mass of feelings contained within.

You Can’t Go Back will be released via Prosthetic Records on February 5.

You Can’t Go Back tracklist:

1. Cold Open
2. When You Melt
3. Reckoner
4. Thick Mire
5. Otherness
6. Leave Your Body

Indian technical/progressive death metal trio DEAD EXALTATION releases the 2nd single from their upcoming album, alongside disclosing the artwork, tracklist, and release date. The single is accompanied by a lyric video that showcases specific elements of the artwork. The album, Despondent, features the absolute finest of South Asian extreme metal musicianship and songwriting, balancing a progressive approach with old school atmosphere.

Toilet ov Hell debuts the track, “The Transformation,”  from the album. (read + stream full feature HERE).

Previously released single “Coerced Sewer Ingest” got its premiere at Everything Is Noise last month.

The album Despondent releases February 05th. Pre-order digipak CD/digital format AT THIS LOCATION.

Dead Exaltation is a technical/progressive death metal band from Pune, India. They began in 2015, drawing inspiration from a variety of bands, including Cryptopsy, Cattle Decapitation, Gorod, Spawn of Possession, and Cynic. Throughout their existence, the band has focused on creating thought-provoking, concept-based lyrics and song structures adorned with complex rhythms and melodies, as well as an old school sensibility.

Over the years, despite the ups and downs, Dead Exaltation has carved up a ferocious reputation for themselves in the Indian extreme metal scene. The band has managed to play shows across major cities of India like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and shared stages with veteran stalwarts such as Gutslit, Plague Throat, Manrating Orchid as well as foreign bands Dehydrated (Russia) and Metastasis (UK) to name a few.

In the beginning, they were a 5-piece band, with most of their songs being written chiefly by the two guitarists: Sourjyo and the recently deceased Mradul. Later, due to different directions in life, bassist Anish and guitarist Sourjyo left the fold. However, the band, now spearheaded by Mradul Singhal as the main songwriter (who is also doubling on guitar and bass), continues to evolve their sound.

This evolution resulted in the recordings for their debut album, Despondent. Unfortunately, tragedy struck in the middle of the album production as Mradul passed away. The band’s remaining members, vocalist Satyajit and drummer Aditya, were determined not to let Mradul’s legacy pass in vain. The music was mixed and mastered, and even the artwork was made ready after his death. Musically it centers around the engaging guitar-work that blends in elements from classic death metal as well as progressive metal, searing through chaotic sections with a melodic sensibility. The vocals and percussion make sure never to let the extremity cease, supplementing the guitarwork with necessary brutality. The album stands as a testament to not just Mradul’s diligent work, but also to the undying camaraderie he shared with his bandmates.

Lyrically the band chooses to add a bit of spice to the usual death metal fare by creating a conceptual story that continues with every song. It revolves around a psychopath warden who runs a prison holding innocent people picked up from the streets. The guards of prison are cannibal psychopaths who do not refrain themselves from torturing, killing, and eating people. Like every good tale, this story is divided into three acts: the incidents, the psychology of the warden, and an investigation leading to a brutal and bloody end of the story.

With the release of their debut album, Despondent, on February 5, Dead Exaltation is all set to introduce the world to their sonic craft.

Lineup:
Satyajit Gargori – Vocals
Mradul Singhal – Guitar
Aditya Oke – Drums

Mastered by Aakash Sherpa.

KAUPE Release New Single “Death Rattle”

Prog metallers KAUPE have released their song “Death Rattle” via Ghost Cult Magazine. The track is from their album Cognitive Dissonance which will be released on February 19th.

Listen to the song at this location.

Pre-order: https://kaupe.bandcamp.com/album/cognitive-dissonance

It is indisputable that the best start to any band is “Holy shit, I got this riff.” In this way Kaupe, an ambitious band with influences spanning decades, was born in 2016. The Florida-based project started life between two eclectic individuals whose propensity to riff off each other knew no bounds. Two years later, with two other equally talented members onboard, the group went on to release their début The Depths, which brought nation-wide recognition and shows with Andrew W.K. and Virgil Donati among others. Now, after having hammered out an even hungrier record than last time, the band are ready to release Cognitive Dissonance.

Muscular, progressive, colorful. From the first moment of “Death Rattle” to the grand finale of “Capsized”, the sound is captivating through every twist and turn. And it’s a long record – ten full-on tracks and a creepy interlude (an ode to Twin Peaks, no less). There is a feeling of adventure throughout, both in the unpredictable songwriting and the wide range of influences – and not a single word is spoken.

Speaking of influences, a small taster of the range that Kaupe draw from: “Death Rattle” recalls a more cinematic Helmet riding their groove, while “Simpatico” draws from Interpol and Torche simultaneously. The drummer, Marc Larabel, is simply an octopus to rival the mathiest and proggiest bands (here’s to you, Mars Volta), and Brett Walker (Also in Junior Bruce) is a machine in both riffing and technical lines. Not to be outdone, Pedro Medrano is no slack on bass (especially on “Head In A Bag”), and the classically-trained Patrick Ross brings a psychedelic flavor with his keyboards, such as on “Cop Caller” where an evocative video game-esque atmosphere collides with a thundering rhythm.

It is clear in every moment that the four are having tremendous fun, and their chemistry is off the charts. Their live shows come back with consistent rave reviews, and with songs like these it is abundantly clear why. Cognitive Dissonance is an apt term for the record – except instead of having two conflicting ideas, it’s akin to being pulled in multiple directions by different strands of musical history. Kaupe have pulled out a humdinger of an album, and it is safe to say that many fans within the rock and metal umbrella will be taken in by their charm.

Cognitive Dissonance will be released on Feb 19 2021.
