With more than a million streams across major streaming platforms and the very successful releases of their first singles – being placed in rotation on national and international radio-stations, as well as playlisted on multiple official playlists such as Most Wanted Rock, Rock Hard, New Music Daily, 100% Rock and more, SHOTGUN REVOLUTION have once again proven that they’re a force to be reckoned with. Today the band presents their 6th and final single ‘Black Angel’, before releasing their fourth studio album ‘IV’ on February 5th.
“In trying times, we all need a place to turn, to seek answers. Wherever that place is… If you haven’t found yours, don’t stop searching! Don’t doubt yourself! Don’t judge others! We are all equal… Faith has no colour, gender or religion. And now, more than ever, we need our ‘angels’ to find comfort and hope. Your truth might be somewhere between the lines. Don´t take our word for it…”, vocalist Ditlev Ulriksen explains about the single.
On the upcoming album ‘IV’, the quartet has once again teamed up with legendary engineer Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica, Ritchie Blackmore, Blind Guardian amo), this time at NRG Recording Studios in Los Angeles, with SHOTGUN REVOLUTION’s own Martin Frank as producer, and mix and mastering by Jacob Hansen (Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Volbeat, Amaranthe). ‘IV’ is set to be released on February 5th 2021.

AGE OF WOE have premiered the first single “A Feral Swarm” from the upcoming album “Envenom”, stream it below.
The sound of the quintet includes elements between doom, sludge, death and post metal. AGE OF WOE are already musically broadly positioned. But the band also breaks boundaries with its line-up, as members come from Sweden, Finland, and Germany. With the addition of Keijo Niinimaa (Rotten Sound, Morbid Evils, Goatburner) the line-up has been completed prominently not too long ago. Formed in the Gothenburg underground scene in the summer of 2010, the creative goal has remained the same over the past decade: AGE OF WOE strive to frighten with gritty, raw heavy sounds. In doing so, the quintet looks for own solution patterns, which also let its punk and DIY ethics shine through.
“Envenom” is the third full length of AGE OF WOE and at the same time their LIFEFORCE debut. The eleven tracks reflect their genesis in the midst of the Corona pandemic with the accompanying fears and sometimes rising anger, but also the latent threat and alienation tendencies. (Societal) Critical lyrics have already been present on the 2013 debut “Inhumanform” and its follow-up, “An Ill Wind Blowing” (2014). Newly added Keijo Niinimaa is also known for clear words. The death metal-based style of play with its numerous widenings provides an ideal musical basis for this.
What stands out above all: on “Envenom”, AGE OF WOE succeed to conclusively to develop their sound decisively further. The contrasts of the dynamic songwriting have strong effects and are impressive. Thanks to the dark heaviness as well as great hooklines and manic vocals, the quintet’s third full length even offers harsh haunting melodies.
With “Playing House”, their second full-length album, set to be released on Karisma Records on the 29th January, MEER have today released a new track from the album.
“Beehive” is the track they have selected for the new single, because, according to the band, “Beehive” has been a long-time favourite on our live sets, and we love how the album version turned out. It’s sensual, chaotic, powerful and definitely one of our most hard hitting songs. The cinematic strings, heavy guitars and arpeggiated synthesizers create a suggestive drive over which Johanne gets to belt her heart out. We often work together composing as a collective, and for “Beehive” drummer Mats came up with the opening piano riff and then the rest of the band added new parts, hooks and lyrics to it on several jams and rehearsals. We are thrilled to finally share this powerhouse with you!
Back in 2008, when MEER started out, the band was simply a duo known as TED GLEN EXTENDED, before expanding the lineup and becoming the MEER of today with eight members including Johanne Kippersund on vocals, Knut Kippersund on vocals, Eivind Strømstad on guitar, Åsa Ree on violin, Ingvild Nordstoga Eide on viola, Ole Gjøstøl on keyboards, Morten Strypet on bass and Mats Lillehaug on drums.
With such a large lineup, it was inevitable that a variety of styles and influences would find their way into MEER’s material, creating a sound that is an eclectic mix of orchestral pop, classical music and progressive rock. It is a massive sound comprised of fantastic melodies and harmonies, not to mention quite a few surprises along the way.
And there is nowhere better to hear just how varied the talents of MEER are than on “Playing House”, which was Recorded at Ocean Sound Recording and Tanken, with producer Lars Gärtner Fremmerlid (EINAR STRAY ORCHESTRA) at the helm, and which will be available in CD, Digital and DLP formats, and which can now be pre-order from the following:
With artwork by Helena Haglund and Simen Skari, tracklisting for “Playing House” is as follows:
1. Picking Up the Pieces 2. Beehive 3. All at Sea 4. Songs of Us 5. Child 6. You were a Drum 7. Honey 8. Across the Ocean 9. She Goes 10. Where do We Go from Here? 11. Lay it Down Vinyl only bonus track: 12. Here I Go Again (Whitesnake cover)
Having inked a deal with Prosthetic Records and released their first single, Descend, back in October to an overwhelmingly positive reception, SUMMONING THE LICH have now announced their debut album, United In Chaos. With the album due out on February 26, the St Louis, Missouri four piece have unveiled a new single, The Nightmare Begins, which premiered this week via Decibel Magazine. The track will be on streaming services from tomorrow. United In Chaos is available to pre-order here.
Taking inspiration from the best elements of Lord of the Rings, Magic The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and Adventure Time, and wrapping it up in a fantastical death metal parcel, SUMMONING THE LICH has an attention to detail and commitment to storytelling that is second to none. United In Chaos tells the tale of the rise of the Lich and fall of the Kingdom Rodor – and the spread of his wicked influence across the land as his power grows.
Speaking on the release of The Nightmare Begins, the band comment: “The Nightmare Begins kicks off our album, United in Chaos, and introduces you to the Kingdom of Rodor and the unbounding malevolence about to be unleashed upon it. This single takes the perilous climb in an attempt to thwart the inevitable birth of the Lich and summons forth his power as we enter the new year. Huge thanks to Decibel Magazine for the premiere of our new single!”
The album follows a well-received, self-titled demo and live dates alongside heavy-hitters such as Origin, Beneath The Massacre, and several stops on the Summer Slaughter tour. Having honed their craft, they entered Sicktones Studios studio with producer Jack Daniels in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in September 2019. With mastering completed by John Douglass, the result is a technical, abrasive journey through fantasy-driven, modern death metal.
On United In Chaos, SUMMONING THE LICH haven’t just championed a fantasy world, they’ve created one in their own vision; this release marking merely the first chapter in a trilogy of albums that explores the outer limits of their imaginations. By inserting their storytelling chops into songs crammed with memorable hooks and meaty riffs, SUMMONING THE LICH have invited listeners to roll the dice and join the adventure.
United In Chaos will be released via Prosthetic Records on February 26, 2021.
