“Since I listened the demo I got the feeling that this would become in a great song, because it sounds like the great old Hard Rock songs and the riff is just Michael Schenker at his best! And to me it’s even more special because I had the chance to write the lyrics. I’m pretty sure the fans gonna love this one!”, comments vocalist Ronnie Romero

KORPIKLAANI Release Single + Music Video For “Niemi”

With only 4 weeks remaining until the release of their 11th studio album Jylhä, Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI are happy to present another new song to their fans. Niemi is a fast paced and catchy neckbreaker which is reminiscent of the band’s heavier past, and it will be accompanied by a good old fashioned performance video that showcases KORPIKLAANI at what they do best.

Listen to Niemi on the streaming service of your choice: http://nblast.de/Korpiklaani-Jylha

Pre-order the album Jylhä here: http://nblast.de/KorpiklaaniJylha

This is what frontman Jonne has to say about Niemi :
“Niemi was one of the first songs for this album. I had a feeling after ‘Kulkija’, that a next album could be the fastest and hardest ever in Korpiklaani’s history. I looked at my Flying V, picked it up and here we are!”

The meaning of Niemi (“The Cape”):
“Lake Bodom 1960, “Bloody Pentecost”. Four youngsters, Irmeli Björklund, Anja Mäki, Seppo Boisman, and Nils Gustafsson were the target of a murderer on their camping trip. The sole survivor was Nils Gustafsson, who was badly injured. The summery triple murder on the lake side shocked the whole of Finland. In the story, the narrator is on a meadow near the lake spending a summer morning, when the surroundings come alive and the narrator hears the call “Come to the end of the cape, terrible things have happened”. Everyone who heard the call quickly heads towards the murder cape. The story is carried by stagnant time and the momentary nature portraits. The murders of Lake Bodom remain unsolved.”

Director’s Word:
“In this video I just wanted to capture the band’s insane energy on stage. So here’s Korpiklaani with cold & fire, smoke & leather!” (Markku Kirves)

CELLAR DARLING Release New Song “Dance”

With “DANCE”, CELLAR DARLING have created a song that takes up the “Death and the Maiden” theme of their 2019 concept album “The Spell”, but at the same time adapts it into the here and now: a “dance of death”, an end-time vision.

In this epic 11-minute track, the Swiss heavy progressive rock trio takes the listener on a dark musical journey worthy of the band’s name, combining mystical folk elements with heavy riffs and intricate structures. Once again, the highly unusual instrumentation typical for CELLAR DARLING, including a hurdy-gurdy, flute, and piano, colours their signature sound. Inspired by the dancing plague of 1518, their lyrics for the first time do not tell of an exclusively fictional world but represent an examination of both our history and current events. Thus, CELLAR DARLING continue to move in a new direction, resuming the radical path they have chosen since departing from ELUVEITIE in 2016.

“DANCE” is available digitally from January, 8th and will soon be available physically in a strictly limited vinyl-only picture disc released directly from the band.

The band comment:
“Darlings, this is it. This is the reason we’ve been so quiet these past few months. This is DANCE.
We have never put so much work into one piece of music before. And although we always want our music to speak for itself, we’d like to share a few words with you about the journey this song has taken us on. The story of ‘DANCE’ comprises three parts:

Chapter I – PAST:
As you might have guessed, ‘DANCE’ originated in the sessions for our concept album “The Spell”. It was supposed to be another chapter of our story about a girl who falls in love with death, but the song ultimately didn’t make the cut. It wouldn’t quite leave us alone either, so about one year ago, we decided to dig it up and give it another go.

Chapter II – PRESENT:
As rewarding and exciting as the intense work on the concept of “The Spell” was — from creating a storybook soundtrack to putting everything into prose — once it was completed, we were done with it. Anna was ready to let go of that story and rewrote all of the ‘DANCE’ lyrics and most of the music. This time, inspiration came from two sources: the dancing plague of 1518, which is a fascinating story in itself, and an engagement with our contemporary world: doesn’t it sometimes feel like we’re in the process of dancing ourselves to death?

Chapter III – FUTURE:
This song, which we share with you today for the time being only as what it is, i.e. without a flood of images, is only the first part of this extensive project. A collective of brilliant artists has interpreted ‘DANCE’ visually and transformed it into their own world of images. Stay tuned for more…”

‘DANCE’ was produced, recorded & mixed by Tommy Vetterli & Anna Murphy at New Sound Studio and mastered by Gavin Lurssen. The artwork was created by Thomas Ott.

German-Austrian post metal band OCEANS has another reason to pop a bottle of champagne right after New Year’s Eve: The aspiring legends to be got awarded with the Deutscher Rock & Pop Preis in three categories! The band achieved honorable results as best metal band (#2), best metal album (#2) and best nu metal band (#3).

Singer Timo Rotten states: „We are incredibly proud to be awarded this price, despite our short history as a band. This just confirms our philosophy that doing the right thing should be preferred over doing ’what people want’. Oceans has always been from the heart and we sure as hell will continue to walk that path. Thank you to all those who have walked with us thus far – I’m excited for the things to come.“

The Deutsche Rock & Pop Preise have been awarded annually by the musicians-, componists-, lyricists- organisation Deutscher Rock & Pop Musikerverband e.V. since 1983. Since 2002, the Deutsche PopStiftung has been involved as well. With this, it is the oldest non-profit music contest in Germany. Negative and irrelevant quality criterias like “volume on sale”, “chart success” or sold audience tickets with voting right do not influence the results. Many successful German acts (JULI, PUR, LUXUSLÄRM) belong to the award winners.

Earlier this year, the band started a get-involved campaign for their fans to be part of the song and the upcoming video. Everyone could send an audio- and videofile for ‘Against All Odds’ to join the project. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/JqbW4W1Nui8

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the signing of progressive heavy metal vehicle, INTERLOPER. Today, the band presents the first collective effort as a band; A REVENANT LEGACY EP. In celebration of the announcement, INTERLOPER offers fans the visualizer for the single, “Silence”. Watch the video here:

The band comments, “We are pleased to present to you, after much time, our first collective effort as INTERLOPER: A REVENANT LEGACY. It has been a long time coming, to say the least. This band, as some of you may know, has undergone a variety of changes, the most important of which being the evolution of the music we write.
Although the five songs that make up ‘A REVENANT LEGACY’ came about over the course of a few years, the majority of them for one reason or another never saw the light of day upon completion. Rather than abandon them in the wake of the full length, we have decided to let them guide the way. The path our listeners would have otherwise taken over time all along, we now offer as one body of work.
Please enjoy ‘A REVENANT LEGACY’ – the journey traveled in the pursuit of what makes Interloper, Interloper.”

A REVENANT LEGACY was recorded and produced in house at Sewn Shut Sounds by the band themselves, with mixing and production from producer, friend, and honorary ‘4th member’ Joey Virrueta.

With a full length album completed and set for release in the near future, this EP serves as a stepping stone in the development of INTERLOPER as a whole.

Below is the tracklist for A REVENANT LEGACY EP:
1. An Emerald Flame
2. Silence
3. Wishful Thinking
4. Hand in Hand
5. Glasshouse

Australian death metal trio, WEREWOLVES have today released the third single from their upcoming second album, What A Time To Be Alive. Crushgasm is a sonic onslaught of fittingly maleficent death metal and grind, clocking in at just over three minutes, embodying WEREWOLVES at their most apoplectic. The three piece, featuring Dave Haley (Psycroptic, Ruins, King), Matt Wilcock, and Sam Bean (both of The Bezerker, The Antichrist Imperium), will be releasing What A Time To Be Alive on January 29, 2021 via Prosthetic Records.

Stream Crushgasm on Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

What A Time To Be Alive is available to pre-order here.

WATCH THE VISUALIZER FOR CRUSHGASM  BELOW.

Speaking on Crushgasm‘s release,Sam Bean (Bass / Vocals) comments: “Crushgasm has it all: Madonna quotes, savage Freudian imagery, our magnificent album title, and it’s all packaged neatly with no guitar solos, melody, or mercy. We guarantee it will take you momentarily away from your woes, whether that’s going broke or avoiding the plague. If it doesn’t make you want to assault everyone in punching distance then it’s your money back”

What A Time To Be Alive is set for release at the end of January and makes good on it’s threat to leave uninhabitable salted earth in the extreme metal scene, where one day your grandchildren may eventually see a D-beat grow. Mixed by Joe Haley (Psycroptic) with artwork by Mitchell Nolte.

What A Time To Be Alive by WEREWOLVES will be released via Prosthetic Records on January 29, 2021.

What A Time To Be Alive track list
