STORTREGN To Release Fifth Album ‘Impermanence’ On March 12th

Recent The Artisan Era signees STORTREGN are proud to announce the upcoming release of their fifth full-length, Impermanence. Set for release on March 12th via The Artisan Era. Famed Italian painter Paolo Girardi (Power Trip, Artificial Brain, Chthe’ilist) lends his masterful touch to the fantastic artwork adorning Impermanence. Recorded, mixing and mastering were handled at Conatus Studio, Switzerland by Vladimir Cochet (Mirrorthrone, Weeping Birth).

Active since 2006, the Geneva-Switzerland-based act has released four albums and an EP to date which has garnered them worldwide praise from music writers and extreme metal fans alike. Their most recent prior album, 2018’s Emptiness Fills the Void, boosted the band’s status and fanbase to new levels, leaving it up to them to work their asses off in order to drop something in the future that could top it. Now the time has come for the group to take their next leap forward, a sentiment Impermanence embodies and embraces with unorthodox yet graceful conviction from start to finish.

Impermanence is not just another release meant to keep the gears churning, this is the result of a project that advances and expands what they’re capable of every time they drop something new. Impermanence draws inspiration from a mix of a large array of influences including progressive tech-death to 90’s Swedish black metal, old-school heavy metal, and jazz in order to craft a unique style of melodic black metal intertwined with a variety of death metal influences. Stortregn – Impermanence is highly recommended for fans of bands such as Obscura, Opeth, Inferi, Dissection.

Stortregn comments on the release of Impermanence
“With a downpour of eight cosmic tracks, crafted with stellar riffs, thundering blast beats, and violence, we are ready to unleash our 5th studio album “Impermanence” onto the world! We’ve put our souls into this craft, exploring a wide range of musical influences and themes, all interconnected to create a paradigm of epicness. With this album, we managed to merge the contemporary tech-death sound and ideas with our older influences. “Impermanence” isn’t just a new studio album: it’s a face-melting sonic eruption! The storm is coming, you have been warned…”

*Stay tuned for an early album teaser video, pre-orders, and early singles in the coming weeks and months!

JINJER Close 2020 With Socio-Critical Music Video For “Home Back”

As the year comes to a close, modern metal’s busiest band, JINJER, are going out with one last huge bang with a surprise video release for the fan favorite track “Home Back”, the seventh single taken from their critically acclaimed studio album Macro.

The official music video for “Home Back”, with lyrics written by the exceptionally talented Tatiana Shmayluk, is not only a testament to JINJER’s creativity and drive to continuously raise the bar musically as a band, but also an audiovisual statement against war and a very personal topic for each band member. Because of where JINJER originally come from, the Donetsk region of Ukraine, they are no strangers to upheaval and the suffering caused by conflict.

JINJER bassist Eugene Abdukhanov says:
“War… War never changes and it never stops. No matter how much grief, misery, suffering and pain it brings there will always be individuals who either reap the benefits or just relish in it’s power. They will drive others to march and kill in the name of… for the sake of… if we look really closer… nothing. It is really hard for me to embrace how people in the 21st century still believe that there is something to fight for on any battlefield. We all depend on a few major economies in the world and their national currencies. We all are at keystrokes length through the Internet. And yet… every day people are driven to kill their true brothers and sisters on our one and common land we call Earth. Then 2020 comes around and there is a glimmer of hope that this might be a turning point. That a common threat will unite all of us and this might be the beginning of a new era… but no. They still march and kill. Every war is a tragedy and a crime against humanity in my opinion. No matter what your beliefs or ideologies are, nothing justifies taking homes, health and lives of innocent children who inevitably suffer in every military conflict. Imagine hundreds of thousands of refugee children around the globe screaming at once: I want my home back!”

The track’s visual component not only showcases the band’s bold lyricism, but also their conceptual cognizance – between media presentation and an artistic antithesis – JINJER sets a clear exclamation mark with “Home Back”.

2020 was indeed a really challenging year for the entire music industry, but JINJER never stopped their musical ambitions: with 31.5 million streams on Spotify, stunning live material, explosive new official music videos and a truly unstoppable streak of success, the exceptional Ukrainian band have left a successful year in their wake. JINJER recently released their first live album, Alive in Melbourne (via Napalm Records), capturing one their very last performances before the worldwide pandemic began, and are currently writing songs for their next album to be released next year, marking the next stage of their musical evolution. Watch out for JINJER in 2021 – more to be announced soon…

BOKASSA Sign Worldwide Record Deal With Napalm Records

Napalm Records is gearing up for a raucous punk rock attack, welcoming Norwegian power trio BOKASSA to its growing roster. Since releasing their ferocious debut album, 2017’s Divide & Conquer, the Norwegian Grammy-nominated band has gripped major attention by fusing polished punk, hardcore and metal riffage, stoner rock grooves and hooky lyricism – forming their own self-proclaimed brand of gritty stoner punk. Upon release, their aforementioned debut was urgently hailed by critics all over the world and placed prominently on several “Best Of” lists.

From there, BOKASSA performed on some of Norway’s biggest festivals like Øya, Stavern, Pstereo and Malakoff, just to name a few, and toured throughout Europe and Norway. In 2019, the band set a massive milestone when they were handpicked by Lars Ulrich to support Metallica alongside Ghost on their summer stadium tour across Europe, the UK and Russia. The legendary drummer hailed them as “his favorite new band” and described them as “Insanely fucking cool” after hearing the first album.

The band’s sophomore full-length, Crimson Riders (2019), was critically acclaimed by respected magazines all around the globe. Kerrang´s Sam Law described the output as follows: “It’s not southern-fried licks or black-eyed breakdowns that set this lot apart. It’s a zero-bullshit mindset that sees everything inauthentic, non-essential and not nailed down cast to the wind. True grit, see, is tough to fake.”

BOKASSA already found their own way out of the seething underground, and with Napalm Records, the high-voltage Norwegian outfit is now ready to enter a new, promising chapter in their budding career, taking their energizing, boisterous punk to the next level!

BOKASSA on the signing:
“We are extremely excited and proud to have signed with Napalm Records and to join the roster of such a legendary label. We can’t wait to show the world our new music and feel that Napalm is a perfect fit for our unholy mix of everything awesome in rock, punk and metal.”

BLIND GUARDIAN Release ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ Single And Video

After celebrating the anniversary of the 1995 classic “Imaginations From The Other Side”, on December 18th, 2021 German metal stars BLIND GUARDIAN present you a special treat for Xmas as vocalist Hansi Kuersch explains: “In my opinion, Slade created the ultimate Christmas song with ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’, a timeless, jolly tune with the perfect dose of cheesiness and almost untouchable in its greatness. Usually, it is prohibited in the Kuersch household to play Christmas songs prior to the Advent season, but as it’s mid-November now, and I am just out of the studio doing this cover, I guess I’m breaking a tradition. What you are about to hear now, is our attempt at paying tribute to the glam rock Santa Clauses Slade and while the original version is just perfect, its chorus was tailor-made for Blind Guardian as we do understand quite well how to go big. So, why have sausages with potato salad when you can have the Xmas goose? Well, check it out yourselves and Merry Xmas Everybody!“

TRIBULATION Launch Video For New Single “Hour Of The Wolf”

On January 29th, TRIBULATION will release their new album, Where the Gloom Becomes Sound, via Metal Blade Records (in North America) // Century Media Records (worldwide excluding North America). For a preview of the record, a video for the new single “Hour Of The Wolf” (directed by Gustav Ohman Spjuth / Fanny & Alexander Productions) can be viewed here:

Tribulation commented: “The Hour Of The Wolf is upon us! Feast your eyes on this, the second single of our upcoming album…”

The previously released single, “Leviathans”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/tribulation – where Where the Gloom Becomes Sound is also available for pre-order through Metal Blade USA.

Tribulation entered Linus Björklund’s Studio Ryssviken in April and exited (informally) nearly two months later. The group – guitarists Adam Zaars and Jonathan Hultén, Johannes Andersson (vocals/bass), and Oscar Leander (drums) – used the first 10 days of their studio time to rehearse. Once the bone-oil had sufficiently run its course, the group and co-producer Jamie Elton started to hammer into the rudiments of the recording process. Elton, who also serves as Tribulation‘s soundman and is a long-time friend, took the reins from Martin Ehrencrona, who helmed the 2018 Down Below sessions. Together, they crafted a well-appointed production, one that’s luxuriously grim and auricularly inviting. Where the Gloom Becomes Sound was then given to Grammy-nominated producer Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Rammstein) to mix at Psalm Studios. Once the mixing was finished – Dalgety would send over versions from his studio in Wales – Tribulation re-enlisted Magnus Lindberg at Redmount Studios in Stockholm to master.

The band’s resulting fifth full-length indisputably elevates the Swedes to the highest echelons. The source of their glinting darkness: a yawning, bottomless rift deep within. “We immersed ourselves in the world of myth and magic,” says Zaars. “With a specific focus on elemental magic, and the elements, in general, from both the Western and Indian esoteric traditions, not the Buddhist four elements but the five elements. Myth and magic are obviously not something new in the world of Tribulation, but it got a bit more specific on this album. We just present it from a slightly different perspective.”

Where the Gloom Becomes Sound isn’t representative of monumental change, but rather the accrual of ambition over time in conjunction with continued exposure to and profound experiments with crossroads devilry. Being their most expressive and inventive album to-date, where it will take them is only to greatness and with reverence.

Where the Gloom Becomes Sound track-listing
1. In Remembrance
2. Hour of the Wolf
3. Leviathans
4. Dirge of a Dying Soul
5. Lethe
6. Daughter of the Djinn

As previously announced, guitarist Jonathan Hultén has amicably parted ways with Tribulation, and Joseph Tholl has taken his place. This new line-up (Johannes Andersson, Adam Zaars, Joseph Tholl, Oscar Leander) will hit the road in support of Where the Gloom Becomes Sound later next year. See below for all tour dates!

BAEST Release First Single “Abattoir” From New Album

Danish Death-Metal BAEST announce the release of their new studio album “Necro Sapiens” coming out on March 5th while dropping the bone-crushing first single “Abattoir”. The band comments:

“Necro Sapiens is ultimately the most BAEST-sounding record. The influences are there, but this is by far the record, where we sound the most like ourselves. The best BAEST there is!”

About “Abattoir:
“Far from earth and out of reach, The Abbatoir lays the foundation of the necro sapiens enslaved existence. A nocturnal breed inhabits this parliament, who has one goal in sight; misanthropic and totalitarian domination.”

BAEST come from Aarhus in Denmark and have successfully established themselves as one of the country’s most promising metal acts in recent years. While deeply rooted in straight-forward classic death metal inspired by genre legends like Dismember, Entombed, Morbid Angel, Death, and Bolt Thrower, the 2015 formed band evolved from a Danish underground phenomenon to an internationally touring act (2018 tour with Abbath, 2019 EU/UK trek with Decapitated). Also, at festivals like Summer Breeze, Copenhell, Ruhrpott Metal Meeting, Roskilde, they left audiences impressed and begging for more. After their already praised debut album “Danse Macabre” the band took it to the next level in 2019 and delivered “Venenum” where they refined their already steamroller-like signature sound.

With the expectation-bar already set so high for their next record BAEST truly drops their most anticipated and most important album so far. Stay tuned for more info!
