Two Giants Of Metal GEORGE LYNCH & JEFF PILSON Reteam For A Killer Covers Album ‘Heavy Hitters’

Guitar-shredding virtuoso George Lynch has reteamed with former Dokken bandmate Jeff Pilson for a set of new studio recordings that turn pop music classics into powerful metal anthems! The two have previously made metal magic together as a duo on the 2003 album Wicked Underground, which was recently reissued on vinyl, as well as with other projects such as T&N and The End Machine. But this new batch of recordings, entitled appropriately enough Heavy Hitters, stands apart not only for its outstanding roster of players and vocalists including head Bulletboy Marq Torien, Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, New Zealand native Wil Martin and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake/Ozzy) but for the jaw-dropping song selection. If you’ve ever wondered what an amped-up, full-throttle version of Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move” or Prince’s “Kiss” or Oasis’ “Champagne Supernova” or Madonna’s “Music,” then this is the album for you!

As a special treat, the band has released the first single from the album – a powerful rendition of Duran Duran’s “Ordinary World” – featuring Martin on vocals, offering just a small taste of what’s in store.

As Lynch himself explains, “I was never a huge Duran Duran fan but I always loved this song. It was just so majestic and emotional. It was an honor and a challenge to cover it in that we had to thread the needle between respecting the original vision of the arrangement but putting our stamp on it as well.”

Pilson, meanwhile, says “The purpose of this whole record, besides having a lot of fun making it, was to take amazing hit songs and interpret them in a way that was true to the greatness of the original but that also brought something new and fresh to the song. ‘Ordinary World’ is such a great melodic and emotional song, a song I think George and I have always loved. We just wanted to add some heaviness, a little George Lynch soulful playing and then let Wil fly with that phenomenal voice.”

BRAVE THE COLD, the Death-Grind duo featuring Napalm Death guitarist Mitch Harris and Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren, have released the cinematic video “Apparatus”, from the bands critically acclaimed debut album Scarcity. Limited-edition colored vinyl of Scarcity will be available December 11th, and the digital version is available now on all digital platforms.

The concept reflects on the division of neighbor vs. neighbor, harvesting unrest due to compromised ethics, intended to destroy the frayed internal infrastructure of adapting society on a global level. Harris further explains, “’Apparatus’ is about a socially repressive cabal whose sole agenda is maximizing the transfer of wealth and power from poorer, middle class consumers to a thin sliver of the wealthiest via submissive fear ideology. Through an intensive program of isolation, bombardment with propaganda and behaviorally suggestive content before reaching the global eye, the ‘Apparatus’ is distressing civil liberties in an era of inconceivable technological corporate wizardry, oppression, censorship and domination.” The video is a collaboration with Italian filmmaker Donato Sansone adapted from the original animation of ROBHOT. Harris contacted Donato with a rough edit of ‘Apparatus’ and Donato made an enthusiastic effort to make a final edit that’s sure to get the energy flowing for unsuspecting viewers in a world of uncertain times.

BRAVE THE COLD is a two-piece formed in 2018 and features the metal legends focusing their energies into a new level of aggression. The culmination is Scarcity, an eleven-track collection of ferociousness breathing much needed life into the heavy metal scene of 2020. Produced by Logan Mader (Machine Head, Soulfly).

Scarcity is available now digitally, and on vinyl in three limited-edition colors: Clear with Silver and Blue Jay Splatters, Highlighter Yellow with Black Splatters (Independent Retail Exclusive), and Milky Clear.

GENTLE SAVAGE: Band Members & Cartoonist React On New ’Honey Bunny -the Rock’n Roll Transformation’ Analog Animation Music Video

On November 27th, Finnish Rockers GENTLE SAVAGE, formed in 2013, unleashed their new analog animation music video of an adventure in the Underworld, ‘Honey Bunny -the Rock’n Roll transformation’. The band has released two reaction videos, where the band members Jay & Tornado and the cartoonist Jyrki Heikkinen give their reaction while watching the fully edited video for the first time. Watch below.

Watch the full ‘Honey Bunny -the Rock’n Roll transformation’ video here:

‘Honey Bunny – The Rock’n Roll Transformation’ video was made in collaboration with cartoon artist Jyrki Heikkinen and photographer Ilari Kallinen. The story was created by Tornado Bearstone and Jyrki Heikkinen alongside the Gentle Savage’s guitarist Tim O’Shore.

What happens when you combine hand painted art, rock music and digital art?

You get more than the total of the three. Something that reaches higher and gives the end product, in this case the analog video, a wider palette of ways to implicate meanings and transmit emotions.

Team behind Gentle Savage’s new video are the musicians, a graphic artist and a photographer. With love for the comic books and inspired by good old stories like Alice in Wonderland, Kalevala and Osiris Myth, they came up with a story of a human like creature who ends up on a trip to the Underworld. It’s obvious, that it is the adventure of his life. Transformated and after finding the love of his life, Mr. Bunny decides to stay in the Underworld. No turning back!

Lead vocalist Tornado says: “I find a very clear analogy in the story right to my own life. Without any further explanations the upper most feeling is that now we’ve created something special. We wish all the viewers a good adventure hoping it puts a smile on your faces. Never give up on your dreams, go for the adventure!”

“Break the boundaries, find your own way!”

Gentle Savage’s debut album, ‘Midnight Waylay’ is coming out in February 2021. It’s a way of describing an ambush at midnight, or going to a rock show; you never know what’s going to happen out there.

Midnight Waylay depicts a ‘taking it easy in the daytime, turning into a beast at night’ kind of lifestyle. Just like a hunter strikes from the shadows, ruthless and silent, these songs can without warning rock your world.

As a concept the album Midnight Waylay is best appreciated when served whole, but each song has its own character and works well independently. Find your own adventure, let yourself loose!”

“It is all about the songs. And their internal message. That’s the basic philosophy behind Gentle Savage.”

THE HU Cover METALLICA’s “Sad But True”

Better Noise Music recording artists, The HU have debuted  their ‘hunnu rock’ cover of Metallica’s “Sad But True”, along with a music video.   The track is a unique take on the beloved classic that has over 142 Million streams on Spotify alone.

LISTEN TO “SAD BUT TRUE” HERE https://thehu.ffm.to/sadbuttrue

The HU’s distinct style allows listeners to hear this song in a completely new way. The band added traditional Mongolian instrumentation along with their signature style of throat singing and swapped out “Sad But True”’s English lyrics for their native language, Mongolian. The same distorted guitar melody from the original song helps drive the song forward, but the originality and musical prowess of The HU’s distinguishing sound makes this track stand out on its own.

With this cover, The Hu also launches THE BEST OF BETTER NOISE MUSIC: 15 YEARS OF ROCK series that runs throughout the label’s 15th year in business – 2021.  The compilation features exciting new versions of songs from their diverse rock catalog. The HU will kick off this campaign, as the band embodies all the label’s hopes for the future of rock – diversity, expert musicianship, passionate performance and clever creative collaboration.

Excited about the release of the new song, singer and Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle) player Galbadrakh Tsendbaatar aka “Gala” says, “Like millions of people around the world, Metallica has been a huge influence and inspiration for us as music fans and musicians. We admire their 40 years of relentless touring and the timeless, unique music they have created. It is a great honor to show them our respect and gratitude by recording a version of ‘Sad But True’ in our language and in the style of The Hu.”

Though they’ve raked in well over 100 million views on their YouTube videos and tens of millions more on Spotify, The Hu continues to find new ways of reaching new audiences. From their new cover song, to being on the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game and soundtrack, their original sound has carved out a genre that is all their own.  Radio audiences took the band’s 2 singles in 2020 (“Yuve Yuve Yu” featuring Danny Case of From Ashes To New and “Wolf Totem” featuring Jacoby Shaddix) into the Top 5 at the Active Rock format.

Earlier in 2020, The HU released the deluxe version of their 2019 album The Gereg. The Gereg debuted at #1 on the World Album Charts and Top New Artist Albums,  Top 5 Globally in US, Canada, UK and more (Rock Music Albums) and Top 10 Current albums in US, Canada, Australia among other territories.  In addition, they released the documentary film, THE HU: ROAD TO THE GEREGon Youtube which looks back at the making of their debut album, along with behind the scenes footage from their worldwide tours, video shoots, and more.

The band is involved in the film THE RETALIATORS, a high-octane horror-thriller, starring Michael Lombardi (FX’s Rescue Me), Marc Menchaca (Ozark, The Outsider) and Joseph Gatt (Dumbo) with special guest appearances by some of rock music’s biggest names. THE HU‘s Jaya plays a small part in the movie and the band contributed their hit track ‘Wolf Totem’ featuring Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach) to the soundtrack.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE Release New Single ‘Propaganda Leaks (Acoustic)’

Following up from their recent single Body Parts that delivered an intense, thrashy hardcore brand of punk, UNDER THE INFLUENCE wind it right back with an acoustic version of their 2019 track Propaganda Leaks which is out now via Riot Records.

“Propaganda Leaksacoustic version, is a heartfelt track about losing life or love due to struggling with society and its many downfalls. It was originally the single from our previous album Exchange My Brain. But this acoustic version is the brain-child of our fearless drummer Dan Southern aka (chicken wing) sometimes referred to as “the wing commander. He come up with the concept of this while experimenting with this as an acoustic track. Although this track couldn’t have been done without the help of a very talented friend Billy Demos on piano and guest vocals. This acoustic version showcases some raw emotion with a softer touch.” – UNDER THE INFLUENCE

ABOUT UNDER THE INFLUENCENineteen years ago in a garage in Dapto (South of Sydney, Australia) three high school friends with a passion for punk music and surfing, formed the band Under the Influence. UTI played as a 3 piece around the local music scene with original member Shane Kinerson (Kino) doing main vocals and drumming. On bass was Luke Malone (Moey) and on lead guitar was former member Glen Robinson. In 2009 after several line-up changes, Chris Curci joined on bass and Moey jumped on lead guitar. UTI continued playing this line up for the next few years and recorded the album Wasted Youth.

With solid feedback from Wasted Youth, Kino decided to step up his singing game and handed over the drum roll (pun intended) to Daniel Southern (Chicken Wing). Going through UTI’s discography you can hear the focus on improving the music and their growth as a band, starting from street punk influences, to heavy punk hardcore. If you have seen or heard under the influence with this high energy combination you will know they are dedicated to the music, nothing is held back and it is raw and intense.

UTI released their killer debut album in June 2019 on Riot Records Exchange My Brain with their first single Propaganda Leaks gaining critical acclaim across Australia and Europe. Now new music is on its way in late 2020.
