The stunning beauty of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE‘s music video for ‘Monnalisa’ has not gone unnoticed: The visual masterpiece has been selected for this year’s British Horror Film Festival (November, 27th – 30th)lineup, in the category “Short Movies”.

The festival stated:
“‘Monnalisa’, directed by Giovanni Bucci, is a visually stunning feast for the eyes, with atmospheres that normally belong to fashion films, paired with cinematic camera work and beautiful color grading.”

Italian for ‘venom’, “Veleno” marks FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s first record in 3 years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record King (2016). The ‘metal part’ of “Veleno” was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the ‘orchestral part’ – the ensembles – were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EPICA) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of “Veleno” took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, OPETH, KATATONIA).

DIRTY HEADS Release Cover For BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD’s “For What Its Worth”

DIRTY HEADS have released “For What It’s Worth”, a cover of Buffalo Springfield’s classic protest song. The band recorded their cover of the 1960’s protest anthem that resonates in today’s political climate.

Listen HERE.

‘Dirty Heads’ signature laid-back sound fits smoothly with Buffalo Springfield’s lyrics: “There’s somethin’ happenin’ here, what it is ain’t exactly clear…”  Though the original version of “For What It’s Worth” was written by Stephen Stills of Crosby Stills Nash and Young and released in 1966.  The song was originally written as a protest of curfews being infringed on young people on the Sunset Strip in LA, it is also widely perceived as an anti-war song of that era. The message of the song remains hauntingly clear and pertinent in the present day.

“Just Listen to the song and the lyrics and how fitting it is for the times,” says vocalist, Jared Watson.

Stephen Stills said of the song “As the lyrics tumbled out, I quickly realized that my little song spoke to much more than simply a confrontation between a gathering of young people paying a last visit to a favorite music bar about to be demolished and a rather excessive number of LAPD riot police intent on dispersing the overflow crowd that had spilled into the street.  I purposefully resisted the urge to rewrite or expand upon my theme and let the metaphors speak for themselves. Fortunately, succeeding generations have found something in it that touches them personally or alludes to their own sense of foreboding during tumultuous times.”

Dirty Heads formed in 2006, but hit the mainstream with its RIAA gold-certified hit “Lay Me Down” featuring Rome Ramirez of Sublime in 2010. Dirty Heads have headlined shows and festivals all around the world, amassed over 700 million streams and over 2.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. They have a number of Top 20-charting hits including “Spread Too Thin,” “That’s All I Need,” “Vacation,” “Celebrate” and “Visions.”

The band credits the fans for their continued success and without the ability to tour, Dirty Heads instead have done several live streaming concerts and remain very active on their socials with the goal of spreading hope and good vibes.

WOLF KING Announce New Album; ‘Sanctuary’ Single Streaming

WOLF KING are back with a new album, titled The Path of Wrath. The follow up to their blistering 2018 release, Loyal To The Soil, confirms the Bay Area blackened heavy metal band have lost none of their bite. The Path of Wrath is a well crafted twelve track opus, set for release via Prosthetic Records on March 5, 2021. The band have today released the album’s lead single, Sanctuary, on streaming services as well as premiering an accompanying music video via Decibel Magazine. Filmed by Vance Valenzuela during their March, 2020 tour with Vale of Pnath.

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR SANCTUARY VIA DECIBEL MAGAZINE HERE.

Of the album and new single the band comment, “The Path of Wrath tells of a collective journey through the turmoils and tribulations of life. Filmed during our last tour in March with Vale of Pnath, Sanctuary takes on the perspective of realizing that the only way to escape this wretched world is through death’s cold hands. We’re born without choice, forced to endure suffering, and find clarity through lifelessness.”

The Path of Wrath tells real life tales of existential struggles and explorations of life and death. This abrasive take on mortality and the afterlife traverses themes of judgement, salvation, and looking ‘beyond the veil’. As they pick over the weight of sin and uncover the burdens of both damnation and forgiveness, ripples of pure darkness infiltrate every crevice of the album.

The band’s sound is captured in its most natural and unrestrained form, thanks to recording by Cody Guentes at both Prairie Sun Recordings and Rapture Recordings in California, with mixing and mastering was handled by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden, rounding out a full and rich sounding album perfectly.

Few do blackened heavy metal better than WOLF KING. For an uncompromising, filth-drenched, smoke-infused take on the genre, The Path of Wrath delivers the goods and then some.

The Path of Wrath by WOLF KING will be released via Prosthetic Records on March 5, 2021.

Available to pre-order here.

The Path of Wrath track list:
1. River of Light
2. Messenger of Death
3. Wandering Soul
4. Triumph of the Slain
5. Sanctuary
6. The Oath
7. The Path of Wrath
8. Incantation
9. Grief Portrait
10. Beholder
11. Holy Serpent
12. Eternal Hunger

LORNA SHORE Premiere “Death Portrait” Drum Playthrough Video

New Jersey extreme metallers LORNA SHORE release their new drum playthrough of “Death Portrait”. Watch the playthrough of drummer Austin Archey premiering exclusively on Sick Drummer HERE.

“Death Portrait” is off the band’s latest full-length, Immortal, which came out earlier this year via Century Media Records to rave reviews. The band have released music videos for “King Ov Deception”, “Death Portrait”, and “ Immortal” off the new LP, which was written by guitarist Adam DeMicco and drummer Austin Archey and was produced by Josh Schroeder (The Color Morale, In Hearts Wake). Immortal is available to stream and purchase HERE.

Formed in 2010, LORNA SHORE is quick to surpass expectations with 2012’s Bone Kingdom EP and it’s follow-up, 2013’s Malificium EP, which peaked at #3 on the US iTunes Metal charts.

Through each release, LORNA SHORE continues to prove themselves to be an increasingly formidable force and a ferocious live proposition. 2017’s sophomore LP, Flesh Coffin showed a band that had moved beyond mere “deathcore” trappings and had evolved into a modern metal band, as uncompromising and accomplished as any of their contemporaries or influences. Topping their previous output with their third full-length and Century Media debut, Immortal was refined and perfected over a two-year period. Immortal marks the next stage in LORNA SHORE’s development as America’s newest extreme metal powerhouse.

Punkrock Icons THE BATES Release New Track “Eagle Man”

For over a decade, THE BATES were Germany’s most successful Punkband besides Die Toten Hosen. They toured all over Europe and Japan with acts such as The Toydolls, sold more than one million records and stormed the charts but paid tribute to fame and Rock’n’Roll, culminating in the death of singer/bassist Zimbl at the age of 41 because of drugs and alcohol abuse.

One of their legacy and proof of what an incredible stage act they were, is the stunning live album entitled ‘Unfucked’, which was recorded at the Outpost Club in Göttingen, Germany in 1992. This live album from 1992 shows them at the height of their powers: Raw, wild, a class of their own!

‘Unfucked – Live’ was originally released by Snoop Records in 1993. It was the band’s last album before they signed with Virgin. Surprisingly it never got re-released, what Glitterhouse Records will finally change by the end of this year! Limited to 500 copies on red Vinyl, and available on digital platforms for the first time ever, ‘Unfucked – Live’ was re-mastered by Master & Servant and will be seeing the light of day on December 4th via Glitterhouse. It will be the first Bates album available on Vinyl since 1992. Now, Glitterhouse Records has premiered another high-voltage song from the upcoming live release, and is streaming “Eagle Man” at THIS LOCATION!

Pre-order your Vinyl copy of this limited, must-have live album by one of Germany’s most distinctive punkrock bands, HERE!

‘Unfucked – Live’ Tracklist:

  1. Einführung
  2. Good Friends
  3. No More
  4. Beautiful Noise
  5. Who’s That Girl
  6. Questionmark
  7. It’s My Party
  8. Der Einsame
  9. I Want You Back Again
  10. Kill That Girl
  11. Yesterday
  12. Runaway
  13. Stuff
  14. Song For Michael
  15. Eagle Man
  16. Witches
  17. I Don’t Care
  18. Bring It On Home To Me
  19. The Lips Of Jayne Mansfield
  20. Paul Ist Tot

The Bates were formed in the mid-80ies in Eschwege, Germany. Four boys and their love for Punkrock accompanied by talent and diligence. Soon after they found their charistmatic frontman Zimbl, The Bates started touring locally, and playing youth centres and smaller clubs. It wouldn’t take long until they reached out for the rest of the country, signed their first major contract with Virgin (who also released “Never Mind The Bollocks “) and became a huge success. Beside the sell-out critics, appearances on MTV or Bravo cover stories, to the probably ultimate Michael Jackson cover version of ‘Billie Jean’, The Bates always were a band that stayed real, and especially live they were a true experience.

The story of The Bates continues until 2001. After years of drugs and alcohol abuse of singer Zimbl, the band took a break from which they never returned. Zimbl (Markus Zimmer) died in 2006. He only got 41 years old. Armin (Beck) works as a minister, Klube (Frank Klubescheid) is a social worker specialized in helping disabled persons live rich and fulfilling lives, Reb (Michael Rebbig) is a teacher and Pogo (Thomas Möller) works – since he left The Bates in 1998 – for Hamburg based soccer club FC St.Pauli.

IN THE WHALE Release New Single & Video ‘Crosses’

Riot Records brings you the new single from Denver, Colorado’s IN THE WHALE titled Crosses.

In The Whale deliver another aural beating to the senses. The two-piece are hell bent on pummelling you into the ground with their post rock assault.

“Crosses is lyrically about looking yourself in the mirror, realizing everyone is going to die and humbly wondering why we’re all here and what this is all for. We tried to execute a feeling of franticness and anxiousness with the push and pull off each musical section.” – In The Whale

Stream/buy Crosses HERE

Crossesis the follow up to the recently released single Drug Dealer. Drug Dealer is a sludgy, bombastic and epic post rock-esque battering. In The Whale has delivered a low-end sonic treat that sits alongside contemporaries like Big Business, Mantar and High On Fire!

In The Whale have been turning heads and accumulating a mass of die-hard fans and followers thanks to a relentless tour schedule and an explosive live performance. Artists and festival promoters have taken notice, with the band playing Riot Fest, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Afro Punk, as well as shows with Jane’s Addiction, The Descendents, The Offspring, Gogol Bordello and many more

The band celebrated their 7-year anniversary in 2018 with the release of Dopamine a six track EP produced by Steve Evetts (The Used, Sepultura, Dillinger Escape Plan) and recorded at the Foo Fighters’ famed Studio 606. Dopamine’s first week sales made it on to the Billboard Heatseekers, Independent Albums and Heatseekers Mountain (#1) charts.

“Dirty, fun, and caked in garage grime, the songs are unconcerned with trends.”
–Bob Gendron, Chicago Tribune

“The fandom is ever-expanding after ITW’s latest EP release Dopamine, a collection of six tracks that make you grit your teeth, mosh on command, and maybe shed a tear or two – and that combination is simply as punk as it gets.’’
– Music Existence

“Don’t you just love finding out a band is a two-piece? It always amazes me how full a track can sound even though there are only two musicians rocking out. In The Whale, a dynamic duo from Colorado, have amazed me with their sound and this month they just released their fifth EP, Dopamine.”
– Pure Grain Audio

“And therein lies the true dichotomy of In The Whale; a brilliant blending of cathartic, hard rock with glass-raising hooks, that goes far beyond the initial mosh pit party vibe. In The Whale can throw a party, but they can also make its attendees think in the process.”
– Marquee Mag
