Supergroup SCOUR Unleash New Single “Propaganda”

Extreme metal practitioners SCOUR have unleashed their new single “Propaganda.” The vicious track comes by way of the band’s long-anticipated The Black EP, set for release on Black Friday, November 27th.

SCOUR – featuring Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down, En Minor, et al), John Jarvis (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Derek Engemann (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index), and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Lock Up) — made their debut with their ferocious first single “Dispatched.” The Grey EP, released via Anselmo’s own Housecore Records, dropped in 2016, followed by The Red EP in 2017. Faster, tighter, and more relentless than ever before, this year’s The Black serves as the final release of the EP trilogy and is inarguably the band’s most savage effort to date.

Comments Anselmo of the latest track available for public feasting, “We’ve all been inundated with propaganda over our entire lifetimes. The modern day is no different, and this song drives the point home. If I were to take a song like ‘5 Minutes Alone’ and cut it with clips of Steve Martin and Cheech $ Chong, it would make about as much sense as the SCOUR ‘Propaganda’ video. A couple all time favorites, Boris Karloff and Vincent Price, can be seen in clips from some of some notable horror films.”

Adds Engemann, “Our second offering from The Black EP, ‘Propaganda’ delivers an unapologetic beating of the senses.”

The Black was mixed and mastered by Ryan Vincent at Apollo Audio Alternative with vocals and drums engineered by Stephen “Big Fella” Berrigan (Down, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Eyehategod). The EP includes guest appearances from Erik Rutan of Hate Eternal, Pat O’Brien of Cannibal Corpse, and actor Jason Momoa (Dune, Game Of Thrones, Aquaman, et al).

SCOUR’s The Black EP will be released on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats via Housecore Records (North America) and Nuclear Blast Records (internationally). Find preorder options at http://nblast.de/Scour-Black

SCOUR derives its sound from an intentional minimalist approach. Displaying an emphasis on cohesive song writing and direct composition ideas, exhibited through relentless battery, the band brims with creepy and ominous hooks, dark and macabre vocals, blasting drums, and buzzsaw guitars to get straight to the point. Drawing influences from all extreme entities, SCOUR self continues to pay homage to some of metal’s most prominent acts as can be heard with the 2019 release of their cover of Bathory’s “Massacre”.

In its short existence, the band has graced the stages of many of the major players in both the mainstream and metal-oriented music festival circuits including Roskilde, Hellfest, Tecate Metal Festival, Maryland Deathfest, and more. As the lineage of its membership suggests, SCOUR continues to be a proverbial force with which to be reckoned both on the stage and in the studio.

Italian Progressive Death Metal Masters SADIST Working On Ninth Full-Length Album

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Sadist. Leave a comment

Italian progressive death metal legends SADIST are currently working on their upcoming ninth studio album, titled ‘Firescorched‘, which is expected to be released next year. The band will record the new full-length with French virtuoso extreme metal drummer Romain Goulon (ex-NECROPHAGIST, ex-BENIGHTED, ex-DISAVOWED) and Dutch fretless bass master Jeroen Paul Thesseling (OBSCURA, QUADVIUM, ex-PESTILENCE).

“During these tough times being mainly in lockdown and spending most of the time in our studios we aim to create a massive sounding, typical earlier progressive SADIST style production. In this early stage the rough material already turns out promising. At the moment Romain is recording drums and soon Jeroen will start tracking bass. We hope to finish recordings in the first half of 2021 and to release the album later that same year via a new label.“, says Tommy Talamanca

Formed in 1991 and renowned for their progressive death oriented productions ‘Above the Light‘ (1993), ‘Tribe‘ (1995) and ‘Crust‘ (1997), SADIST split up after releasing ‘Lego‘ (2000) but reunited again in 2005. Thereafter the group released a self-titled album ‘Sadist‘ (2007), followed by ‘Season in Silence‘ (2010), ‘Hyaena‘ (2015) and ‘Spellbound‘ (2018). Their compositions involve heavy usage of guitar and keyboard solos, with jazz and Middle Eastern influences.

SADIST line-up:
Trevor – vocals
Tommy Talamanca – guitar, keyboards
Jeroen Paul Thesseling – bass
Romain Goulon – drums

KILLER BE KILLED, who released their critically-acclaimed sophomore album, “Reluctant Hero”, today via Nuclear Blast Records, have also simultaneously unveiled an animated video for ‘From A Crowded Wound’. Watch the video here:

The album is available in a variety of limited edition vinyl variants, as well as on CD and a 2LP black vinyl version. Those physical offerings, as well as a companion t-shirt can be purchased here: https://www.killerbekilled.com/reluctant-hero

Ben Koller said of the song: “’From a Crowded Wound’ is the creeping punisher on this record, a lumbering steamroller laying a trail of sleek acid slime from beginning to end.”

Costin Chioreanu, who has previously worked on videos for Ghost, Napalm Death and Corrosion of Conformity, created the visually stunning clip.

The band has been counting down the days to the album’s release with Sirius XM Liquid Metal host Jose Mangin, with exclusive interviews and additional previews from the 11-song collection. The special programming continues through this Sunday. The musicians have also posted a series of interviews about the album, which can be viewed on the Nuclear Blast YouTube channel (Songwriting: https://youtu.be/UoxUndxPu4A, Recording: https://youtu.be/x5h-WTA2Z4k, About “Inner Calm From Outer Storms” and “Dreams Gone Bad”: https://youtu.be/H34mnoVqfmU, and Album, Artwork and Vocals: https://youtu.be/PpaZXBiS0nI).

Reluctant Hero has already been met with widespread praise. Revolver and Kerrang! magazines featured the band on recent covers, Loudwire said the music is “crushing,” Metal Injection claimed the songs will “rip your damn head off,” Brooklyn Vegan proclaimed it “anthemic” and Consequence of Sound noted that the band is “hitting on all cylinders.”
