Swedish KNOGJÄRN (Eng.: Knuckle-duster) are the IN-YOUR-FACE, kick-ass kind of Hard Rock, right off the bat! Knogjärn drop music that makes you want to crack open a beer, turn the volume to 11 and rock ‘til you f***ing drop. We are stoked to welcome one of the best Swedish Hard Rock bands to the Indie Recordings Family! You can listen to their single collection “Kvarlevor” here https://orcd.co/kvarlevor!

Knogjärn comments: “We are proud to announce that we have signed with Indie Recordings (Kvelertak, Satyricon, Skambankt etc)! We are very happy for this opportunity and are looking forward to be working together.”

Erlend Gjerde, Managing Director at Indie Recordings comments: “In these dire times we all need some relief and what can better pick up our mood than some Swedish groove-metal? At Knogjärn`s place it`s always party time, so come-on in a join the fiesta!”

With its explicit Swedish lyrics and an emphasis on the “Hard” in Hard Rock, the unique sub-genre of Swedish Hard Rock is something you’ve got to love – including Knogjärn. The quartet stay true to their genre while turning it up some notches, pumping up the listener and making you fight-ready to rock extremely hard!

Since the start in 2015, Knogjärn has delivered nothing but sonic raging anger with an unapologetic, IN-YOUR-FACE attitude. The foursome drops super-charged records, but they hit even harder when on stage: “We want you to like our live performance even if you don´t like our music”, the band states. Their records are the testimony that Knogjärn always give 100%! Hard’n’heavy riffs with raging vocals and explicit lyrics speak beyond their vernacular, beloved by their ever-growing crowd of fans, who has already started to cover themselves in Knogjärn-tattoos.

This Fall, Knogjärn signed with Indie Recordings, and with that releasing “Kvarlevor” and re-releasing their latest album “Stora och Farliga”.

Kvarlevor” is a collection of all their stand-alone singles throughout the career, out today!

The re-release of “Stora och Farliga” includes the brand-new track “Älskar Ingen”, that fits perfectly with the rest of the album. Adding an extra track wasn’t a difficult task for the creative and productive Knogjärn; “It wasn’t hard writing a new song in the same style since it wasn’t too long ago that we released the album” comments the band.

“Kvarlevor” is out now – “Stora och Farliga”, recorded by Oscar Nilsson at Crehate Studios, including the bonus track “Älskar Ingen” will be out on December 2 via Indie Recordings.

JOEL HOEKSTRA’S 13 To Release New Album “Running Games” On February 12th, New Single Out Now

Posted by tarjavirmakari on November 17, 2020

JOEL HOEKSTRA, best known to rock fans as the current guitarist for Whitesnake and Trans-Siberian Orchestra (and also known for his work with Night Ranger and the Broadway show Rock of Ages), returns with his second album, ‘Running Games’ from his electrifying solo project, JOEL HOEKSTRA’S 13 on February 12, 2021. Joined by Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboards), Joel and company pick up where his debut, ‘Dying To Live’ left off.

Fans can get their first taste of the album with the newly released single ‘Hard To Say Goodbye’, available on all streaming platforms and via YouTube, below:

Pre-order/save the album here: https://orcd.co/runninggames

Hoekstra once again handles the bulk of the creative process, overseeing production, songwriting and arranging (music and lyrics), and crafting his vision for this powerful hard rock gem. Add Chris Collier’s masterful mixing and the result is ‘70s/’80s classic hard rock with 2020’s muscle. As with the debut, ‘Running Games’ features an all-star cast of musicians including none other than Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboards). The amazing Jeff Scott Soto also lends a helping hand with background vocals.

Says Joel, “Years ago, I released three solo albums that were mainly instrumental guitar music. With Joel Hoekstra’s 13, I have started to work on something that showcases my production, writing, and playing in the genre that I’m known for, which is melodic hard rock.”  Like “Dying to Live”, “Running Games” can be described as DIO’ish at it’s heaviest, but is also influenced by the blues- based sound of Whitesnake as well as melodic bands like Foreigner, Journey, and the like. Hoekstra says, “‘Hard to Say Goodbye’ definitely represents the more melodic sound of the album, but rock fans can also look forward to some aggressive tracks.”

On ‘Running Games’, lyrically Joel focuses on escaping problems both past and present by providing playful, imaginary, and serious takes on the situations.

Long hailed for his fiery, tasteful guitar playing, Hoekstra’s playing here raises the bar to a new level.

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN Announces New Solo Album ‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’, Out February 26, 2021

Lyrically, and musically, the award-winning Dutch artist lays her soul bare with the most evocative record of her career – captivating song-stories told with acoustic guitars, strings, horns, percussion, and Anneke’s hypnotic vocal harmonies.

The new album’s title, ‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’, refers to the idea that, when facing personal challenges, we are forced to find answers to life’s biggest questions. But, at this point in her near-three-decade-long music career, this solo album – and, crucially, the heartbreak that inspired it – was not something ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN ever anticipated writing.

In 2018, Anneke began working on new material for her metal band, VUUR. Although their debut album, ‘In This Moment We Are Free – Cities’, was met with a mixed reception, fans were warming up to their heavy, progressive sound. Therefore, a rapid follow-up album would surely establish Anneke’s return to fronting a metal band. However, behind the scenes, these were troubled times.
Anneke shares, ”My belief in VUUR saw me spend all my savings on recording VUUR’s debut album and taking the band on the road. After completing our first touring cycle, I realized that more VUUR would mean yet more, huge financial risks.”

To make matters worse, in 2018, her long-lasting marriage, which had always been wonderful, unexpectedly saw a storm approaching.
Anneke adds, “I instantly knew I needed to write music about fixing my life. This creative endeavour would be far too personal for a VUUR album. And it would also require solitude.”

With just her acoustic guitar and basic recording gear, Anneke retreated to a small house near the woods, just outside her hometown of Eindhoven. She let go of the pressures of what VUUR’s future might be, and fell into the meditative process of writing a solo album. In 2019, work continued on the new songs. In 2020, Anneke asked her friend and producer, Gijs Coolen, to help finish the album.

Throughout the completion of the album, Anneke’s fragile, acoustic song-stories were fused together with an alchemy of panoramic strings, horns, and percussion. The resulting 11-track record has all the intimacy of Anneke serenading an audience of one, combined with surprising departures into swampier, foot-stomping grooves.

The Japanese art of kintsugi has inspired Anneke to use a repaired heart as the album’s symbol. Kintsugi teaches that bringing together the pieces of a broken object – with the use of a precious metal – adds value and uniqueness to it. And, instead of giving up on their marriage, Anneke and her husband decided to take the time to mend their bond. They now cherish the repaired heartbreak as something profoundly valuable.
Their journey through this personal storm, and the album that Anneke created in the eye of it, proves that the darkest skies truly are the brightest.

“The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest” – Tracklist:
01. Agape
02. Hurricane
03. My Promise
04. I Saw A Car
05. The Soul Knows
06. The End
07. Keep It Simple
08. Lo And Behold
09. Losing You
10. Survive
11. Love You Like I Love You

‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’ is Anneke’s 23rd career album. It proves, once again, that the award-winning Dutch artist defies being pigeonholed by any genre.

After thirteen years as the front woman for melancholic metallers, The Gathering, she struck out on her own in 2007. Since then, her creativity has known no bounds. Anneke quickly solidified a successful solo career (initially under the moniker Agua de Annique), and has recorded and performed with Canadian metal genius Devin Townsend multiple times. She has also lent her serene yet powerful voice to the likes of: Anathema, Icelandic folk group Árstíðir, Within Temptation, Ayreon mastermind Arjen Lucassen, Amorphis, and prog legend John Wetton.

2012’s ‘Everything is Changing’ was something of a milestone in Anneke’s solo career. The album, which was the first to be released under her own name, received two Edison Award nominations – Holland’s most prestigious music prize – in the categories ‘Best Female Artist’ and ‘Best Album’.
In 2015, Anneke van Giersbergen and Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) released their collaborative album ‘The Diary’ under the name The Gentle Storm.
In October 2017, Anneke’s progressive metal outfit VUUR released their much-anticipated debut album. ‘In This Moment We Are Free – Cities’ entered the Dutch Album Top 100 at number 2, Anneke’s highest-ever chart position.

Forever the unpredictable artist, in late 2018, Anneke released ‘Symphonized’, an 11-track live orchestral album. It was recorded at two career-spanning concerts alongside Residentie Orkest The Hague, and features rearrangements of songs from her entire back catalogue.
2019 saw Dutch music copyright organisation Buma Cultuur honor Anneke with the Buma ROCKS! Export Award. This is their award for the Most Successful Dutch Artist Abroad in Heavy Music.
In 2021, the release of her new solo album ‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’ will see Anneke surprise her fans all over again.

U.S. hard rock band Minefield was founded in 2020 by Brandon Fields. It is more of a musical collective than a band or a solo project. For the debut album, Fields (Vocals/Guitar) is accompanied by Todd Kerns  (Vocals/Bass), Jeremy Asbrock (Vocals/Guitar) and Matt Starr (Drums).

The group recently signed to Golden Robot Records.

Brandon Fields has spent the last several years touring as a solo artist. He is also the lead guitarist in Detroit, Michigan based band Whiskey A Go Go.

Todd Kerns has served as the bassist in Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators since 2010. Kerns was also a part of Canadian rock group Age of Electric and currently serves as the singer/guitarist in the Canadian band Toque. Jeremy Asbrock is currently the guitarist in former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley’s solo band. Before this, Asbrock was in Gene Simmons’ solo band as well.

Matt Starr has been a staple in Ace Frehley’s solo band for the last decade while also playing with the supergroup Mr. Big.

MUDSPITTERS Release New Single ‘Different Hues’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on November 17, 2020

A recent signing to Bread & Butter Records, MUDSPITTERS is a rock trifecta epitomizing modern day frustrations and emotions that people deal with on an everyday basis. Different Hues is the follow up to the recently released single Carry You (Through The Trip). Mudspitters deliver deep and intense alternative rock that will haunt your thoughts.

“Different Hues is a song exemplifying and expressing self-reflection, confusion and lastly gratitude on being shown a new perspective that opens up the world in an entirely new way. We recorded this track during quarantine in the garage of Hunter’s house. With the tensions of the world and frustrations of my personal life, I worked with Hunter and Sandy (2/3 of Mudspitters) to connect a sound to the feelings that have been pounding in my heart and soul. This song was written out of love for someone else but the more I listen to it the more it feels like love for who I’m becoming” – Kai Carlton

Watch the official video for Carry You (Through The Trip) HERE

Carry You (Through The Trip) is an intense and at times dark, the song also winds through an almost atmospheric electronica road, topped with Kai Carlton’s poignant and forceful vocals. It shows a band that digs deep on composition and shows that same passion in delivering the finished product.

L.A. Based MUDSPITTERS are led by Vocalist/guitarist Kai Carlton who interjects grunge inspired vocals with heart wrenching emotive feel and story. Lead guitarist Hunter Boyer clashes tantalizing melodies with multidimensional tones and grit. Drummer Sandra Alva provides a rhythmic structure that compliments the vocals and melodies yet is its own force to be reckoned with.

Emotional lyrics paired with an explosive blues driven wall of sonically pleasing yet tragic essence of our human existence. Together the band explores ways to express themselves through the only what they know how.

ACCUSER Offer Free Live Show On YouTube, New Self-Titled Album Released Worldwide

Last Friday (November 13th), ACCUSER released their new self-titled album via Metal Blade Records. Stream and purchase Accuser now at: metalblade.com/accuser – where the record is available in various formats.

To celebrate Accuser‘s release, the band is now offering a free live show for fans on YouTube. Featuring new and classic songs, be sure to check out the performance HERE:

Accuser comments: “In fact, you all have read a statement like this one several times over the last months. With Covid- 19 still being, well, all over the place to put it mildly, we as many other bands are not able to do what we love the most- being on stage, performing and having a great time with you, the fans. With our new record out, one we are really, really proud of, we’d like to give you at least a glimpse at how the new songs sound on stage. Together with our long time supporters, Vortex Surfer Club and Kulturbüro Siegen- Wittgenstein, we are happy to present you what might be called ‘Thrash in a Box’. 4 guys on stage, 9 songs and tons of riffs!
Cheers and thanks to all involved. We hope you enjoy our take on this weird thing called streaming shows, we surely did!”

Since they began flying the flag for German thrash in the 80s, Accuser have gone on to prove themselves one of the most enduring forces in global metal. With eleven full-lengths behind them, they return in 2020 with their latest masterwork: a blistering collection that captures everything that makes the band so vital, produced by longtime collaborator Martin Buchwalter (who has worked on five Accuser albums) and mastered by Dan Swanö. “You stay fresh through curiosity,” states vocalist/guitarist Frank Thoms. “Writing new songs keeps you fresh, and it is always exciting how things develop and how the listener reacts to them afterwards. This process never gets boring. It is always exciting and invites you to try new things.” The result is a dynamic album that is very much rooted in thrash, but still takes the listener through various moods and styles, further cementing Accuser‘s status as leaders, not followers.

The return of lead guitarist René Schütz to the band’s ranks – who appeared on multiple Accuser records prior to 2011 – only served to up the ante on Accuser. “We are very, very happy to have him back in the band, and as you will be able to hear, his leads are definitely over the top. From my perspective, he is one of the very, very few thrash metal guitarists who are able to combine technique and feeling in a proper way.” With writing for the new record commencing as soon as 2018’s The Mastery was completed, Thoms pushed himself until he was in “100% concentration mode”, knowing he is on the right path when he forgets his daily routine and normal life falls away. With no structure or plan envisaged, the songs came together naturally, as they always have. “The Accuser sound is in our DNA, and at the end of the day, it is our own blend of thrash metal. To be honest, that’s what I like best during the process of making a record, seeing how the music develops and how the album is taking shape.” The shape Accuser took is definitely versatile, and perhaps sounds simpler than it actually is. “We managed to make well thought-out songs sound simple. Crazy things don’t seem like a disturbance or a foreign body. In addition, we have inconspicuously processed various genres of metal. Ultimately, we just tried to offer the essence of the band, the groove from ‘Repent‘ (1992), the riffs in the veins of ‘Who Dominates Who‘ (1989), plus structures that could be found on the first album ‘The Conviction‘ (1987) and stylistics that could be from ‘Reflections‘ (1994) or ‘Taken By The Throat‘ (1995) – everything put together in catchy songs.”

The combination of these elements that shout back to earlier  Accuser  releases – without repeating or copying themselves – alongside the return of Schütz, led Thoms to believe this album “must be called Accuser“.

Accuser track-listing
1. Misled Obedience
2. Phantom Graves
3. Temple of All
4. Lux in Tenebris
5. Be None the Wiser
6. Rethink
7. Psychocision
8. Contamination
9. The Eliminator
10. Seven Lives
11. A Cycle’s End
