FRACTAL GENERATOR Release Title Track ‘Macrocosmos’ From Upcoming Album

Canada’s FRACTAL GENERATOR return with their 2nd full length “Macrocosmos” – coming out on January 15th 2021, via Everlasting Spew Records – is their darkest and most ambitious work, crushing sci-fi infused Death Metal produced by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio (Hideous Divinity, Hour of Penance, Decrepit Birth). The title track “Macrocosmos” is the first single chosen for the release of Fractal Generator’s sophomore album.

“Macrocosmos tells the story of future humans travelling a distant solar system who discover evidence that the universe is a simulation. The word Macrocosmos refers to the existence of larger “universes” that encompass our tiny known universe. This album took about 5 years in total to complete, and we’re extremely proud of the final result. It’s by far a big step up for us in terms of production, and the songs are all just as carefully crafted as they were on our first album “Apotheosynthesis”. We hope you will enjoy listening as much as we do!”

Reamped, Mixed and Mastered by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio (Hideous Divinity, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Decrepit Birth).
Cover art by Erskine Design.
T-shirt design by Too Many Skulls.

THEODOR BASTARD Sign To Season of Mist

Season of Mist are pleased to announce the signing of Russian Karelian Neofolk outfit THEODOR BASTARD. The band will release their brand new album via the label.

THEODORE BASTARD comment on the signing: “We are very happy to share this great news with you – Theodor Bastard band has become a part of the world of Season of Mist. It is a very big event for us. Living in the deep of the wild Karelian forests on the edge of the Ecumene, we can now reach the audience all over the world and tell the myths and legends of our North through our music. We thank the whole team of Season of Mist so much. We were an indie band for over 20 years and all our lives we learned and did everything ourselves. From recording albums to selling them. From manufacturing merch to organizing tours. We have a lot of experience in this, but Season of Mist is the first label really attracted us with its concept and its approach. And we entrust them our music and our future. We know that together we can achieve more.“

In further news, Season of Mist are proud to simultaneously announce the release of the re-issues of ‘Vetvi’ (2015) and the recently released  masterpiece ‘Volch’ya Yagoda’ (2020). Listen to the entire THEODOR BASTARD catalogue HERE.

THEODOR BASTARD‘s music is set out to take listeners to unexplored and other worlds. From the cold and twilight realms of the marshy swamps of taiga and mossy tundra, to unexplored places where the earthly plane and the spiritual world are separated only by a thin ghostly veil. For over twenty years THEODOR BASTARD have been known for their amazingly serious attitude to the world beyond that very frontier.

THEODOR BASTARD is one of Russia’s most unusual bands representing the electronic Karelian neofolk genre. Also elements of dark wave and trip hop are present in the band’s music. The message doesn’t carry out everyday problems and is mainly focused on mythology and shamanism. The hallmarks of the band are the unique and bewitching lead vocals of multi-talent Yana Veva and the impeccable sound producing skills of Fedor Svolotch, founder of the band who created the band 20 years ago.

From album to album, THEODOR BASTARD carefully and masterly combine many different exotic and traditional instruments. The special northern atmosphere of their albums is created with Nordic nyckelharpa and jouhikko, primeval flutes created from tree roots and shamanic percussion.

“We live in the north of Russia in Karelia, which has a difficult fate” states band leader Fedor Svolotch. He continues: “This is a harsh northern region with unpredictable nature, with spruce and pine forests. Bears are found here. Moose and hare come straight to my house. In Karelia there are beautiful cliffs and clear lakes with fresh water. These are our personal places of power, the places where stones and winds are talking to us. Singing for us a songs of the northern harsh nature”.

THEODOR BASTARD consists of 6 musicians, turning their performances into a dark magic act that sends the audience back to Northern musical traditions, to the Karelian and the Russian folk. The musicians use a lot of electronic devices and ethnic instruments, but also use their own hand-made instruments from stones, human bone and the roots of Karelian birch.

The duo initially met in 2018 while working with other artists, but as they discovered their shared passion for an assortment of Rock, Pop, and Punk artists, they began to talk about embarking on a collaborative project together. As both men are prolific multi-instrumentalists and writers, they have created a space for each other to showcase their incomparable instrumental talents, while infusing them with an incredible mix of melodic and lyrical depth.

Randy McStine is an acclaimed guitarist, bassist, and vocalist, whose initial work under the name Lo-Fi Resistance led to collaborations with members of King Crimson, Joe Satriani, Porcupine Tree, King’s X, Tears For Fears, and more. McStine’s work embraces genres such as Rock, Progressive, Blues, Singer-Songwriter, Folk, Pop, and Ambient. Towards the end of 2019, McStine released a new album called ‘Idle’, which coincided with a 20-date North American tour as support for The Pineapple Thief.

Marco Minnemann is one of the world’s most respected drummers, having recorded and performed with diverse artists such as Paul Gilbert, The Buddy Rich Big Band, Steven Wilson, Necrophagist, and U.K. His own band, The Aristocrats (featuring Guthrie Govan and Bryan Beller), is a hugely sought-after touring act all over the world. Marco is also an accomplished guitarist and composer, which is evident throughout his vast catalog of solo albums. His most recent album, ‘My Sister,’ was released in 2019.

THE BLOODSHOTS are a true rock & roll band from Western Canada. Winnipeg-ish to be precise, the home to some of Canada’s great bands.

Their never-say-die attitude fuels the engine under the hood pushes these denim-clad rockers further down the heart-worn highway of busted bottles and broken promises. Destination? Rock & roll Damnation. Singer CJ’s in-your-face vocals cut over ripping guitars as the ear-drum assault announces that a high-energy stage performance is about to engage the audience with pure raw power.

Their latest single, No Way Out, out now via Golden Robot Records, is a rock anthem that grabs you by the ears and doesn’t let go for 3 and a half minutes. The guys produce that loud rock sound with a catchy chorus that they’ve been known for. Lyrically, frontman CJ Loane brings out his demons for the party and you’re all invited. Buckle up world.

Stream/buy No Way Out HERE

The Bloodshots are a rock band from Western Canada. Performing alongside Rock music’s greats including Finger Eleven, Buckcherry, Danko Jones, Moist, Econoline Crush, One Bad Son, Three Days Grace, Monster Truck, Steel Panther, SLASH, The Lazys, Jet Set Satellite, Hawthorne Heights and Senses Fail among many more.

From small town dives to casino stages and concert halls, these blue-collar boys have proven that they have what it takes to grab the next rung of the ladder. With the support of Canadian FM Rock and Indigenous stations The Bloodshots have been expanding their listener base aggressively. Growing traction on streaming platforms has proven to bolster their already rapidly expanding base of fans through repeat listeners and playlist placement. Online might be your best shot at hearing the band on recording since they can’t quite seem to keep any physical copies on hand: that’s how quickly they’re selling them out, *but it doesn’t stop there… *

A sliver of success is never enough, no matter the size, when you’re on your long way to the top. The band has partnered with legendary rock & roll producer Steve Rizun for their coming release. Steve’s penchant for pulling the meanest leanest no-foolin’-est sound out of musicians is a perfect coupling with The Bloodshots’ buck-shot ferocity.
The momentum built by working with past producers Dale Penner, John Paul Peters, Sean Dealy and now Rizun is propelling this freight train right through the station. It ain’t stopping until there is no more track to run!

You don’t need to be certified donkey-brains-free to see that The Bloodshots are the next big thing in Canadian rock music, but it is a no-brainer.

TOMORROW’S RAIN Debut New Video For NICK CAVE Cover “The Weeping Song”

Tel Aviv metal band TOMORROW’S RAIN has released a new music video for their dark metal take on goth icon NICK CAVE’s beloved classic “The Weeping Song.” The cover features guests Anders Jacobsson  (DRACONIAN), Kobi Farhi (ORPHANED LAND) and Lisa Cuthbert (live vocalist for THE SISTERS OF MERCY) and is found on the band’s recently released, debut album Hollow that’s available now from AOP Records.

Vocalist Yishai Swearts states:

“Growing up in the 80’s Nick Cave was always there, an idol, his lyrics found a warm place within my heart when I was pretty young, apart from that Nick is a mentor when it comes to face traumatic events in life and carry on, heal your soul and sing your pain, Nick’s last 2 albums are pure reflection of the message we try to deliver in “Hollow”: at the end of the day we have to carry on, we have to heal ourselves and continue the journey.

We think that the interesting idea in a cover version is always to the take song to “your own” area, never understood bands who just played the original song as is, it’s pointless and in almost every case it’s weaker than the original, by doing a cover the idea is not to be stronger than the original but to play the original in your own language, in your own way.

Our dear old friend Kobi Farhi from Orphaned Land sang with me the duet, the idea was that one of us will be the father and the other will be the son, also joined in are Anders from Draconian doing growling vocals with me and Lisa Cuthbert with female voc.”

ORPHANED LAND’s Kobi Farhi adds:

“Nick Cave is probably my favorite artist, second only to Leonard Cohen. From childhood till this day he never ceases to amaze me with his great ability to create sincere, painful art and music. I am honored to take part in a cover made for one of his classic songs, I think covers is a very tricky thing that you shouldn’t go and do so easily, but this cover definitely achieved its goal and it’s a great one!”

TOMORROW’S RAIN’s epic debut features an all star list of guest musicians including members of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Rotting Christ, Moonspell, Septicflesh, Draconian and more, “Hollow” is a breathtaking journey into the depths of doom and darkness.

HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH Announce New Album Details

Posted by tarjavirmakari on November 8, 2020
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH. Leave a comment

Swedish black death juggernauts HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH have announced the release of new album Välde, the apocalyptically heavy follow-up to 2019’s Abyssal, on 12th February 2021 via Unique Leader.

The announcement follows the release of crushing new single ‘Vittring’, watch the video here: https://youtu.be/_RBiC8WvW8I and stream here: https://orcd.co/vittring

Meaning ‘Empire’ in Swedish, Välde is a darker, bleaker journey than it’s predecessor, with a further emphasis on the atmospheric nature of the band’s sound and the use of dissonance, creating a claustrophobic, dense record that pulverises the senses. Almost uncomfortably bleak at times, echoes of the likes of Ulver and Meshuggah are present on Välde, combining perfectly with HLB‘s signature blackened groove template that they have become renowned. An atomic bomb of a record – this is HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH in their coldest, nastiest form.

Pre-order Välde here: https://orcd.co/valde and here: https://www.impericon.com/de/humanity-s-last-breath-valde-digipak-cd.html

Track listing:

1. Dödsdans
2. Glutton
3. Earthless
4. Descent
5. Spectre
6. Dehumanize
7. Hadean
8. Tide
9. Väldet
10. Sirens
11. Futility
12. Vittring
