For all the ELVENKING and Pagan Metal fans out there – AFM’s Italian Folk Power Metal band reveals some info about “Live Invocations”, the special  live studio performance. It will be streamed on November 20th, at 8pm (CET) on the AFM Records YouTube channel, and it will be preceded by a Q&A with the band, at 7pm (CET) on the band’s social media accounts.

Here’s their official statement:
„Dear Elvenlegions, we can finally reveal more about “Live Invocations”, a special live session filmed in the studio. We have been working hard on this in the last months, finding the right unique setlist, rehearsing it and finding the perfect solution to record it and make it available to you all. We were ready to publish it, but then came the cancelation of our Nov/Dec Europen Tour, so we stopped for a while and decided that we could substitute the tour with this special live recording. It won’t be the same, but at least it’s something in these dreadful times. It will be a free streaming video, but if you want to support the band we have created a Money Box on Paypal (more info below).“

Find the Paypal Money Box here: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8s34Ha80YE

This special live event has been filmed and recorded at “The Central Recording Studios” in Crevada (TV) ITALY.

SOLE SYNDICATE Release ‘…And The Truth Will Set You Free’ Video

Sweden’s own SOLE SYNDICATE have released a video for the song ‘… And The Truth Will Set You Free’, taken from their new album ‘Last Days of Eden’, which will be released on November 20th, 2020.

This is how the band commented: “‘… And The Truth Will Set You Free’ is a song about stories we tell our children when they are small to keep them safe from harm but also about religion. Religion was once important to make people behave in a certain manner and a way to explain the world. Today science can explain almost everything but religion is still a huge part of people’s lives. Religious leaders use people’s fear to achieve their own goals. Musically the song is a mix of everything. Heavy metal meets pop. There are elements of growl but also strong and catchy melodies. Something for everyone?”.

‘Last Days of Eden’ is a modern heavy metal album with strong melodies and roots that can be traced in the classic bands of the genre but also in many other musical styles: hard rock, pop and country, they all give foundations to the songwriting. Lyrically, the album deals with everything from politics to the environment and traditional rock poetry. The album title is a reference to the ongoing pandemic and the political instability that brought.

Zazula Teams Up with Cranium Radio for Weekly Jonny Z’s DEFCON 4 ShowA massive seven-disc physical audio CD edition of Megaforce Records founder Jon Zazula’s acclaimed autobiography, Heavy Tales: The Metal. The Music. The Madness. As Lived by Jon Zazula, read by the author himself, is available now.

“At last, the wait is over,” Zazula says. “‘Heavy Tales’ has been out in a digital format prior but has never before been available as a seven-CD collection where not only I get to tell my story, but I get to answer over two hours of heavy questions which was taken from live radio broadcasts.”

Unlike the previous audio addition, the physically copy contains a bonus disc containing over 100 amazing photos that originally appeared in the print edition of the book. The audio CD is available in most libraries and retailers nationwide.

Released last year in physical format,Heavy Talesis the detailed, story of how Jonny Z founded legendary New Jersey-based label Megaforce Records with his wife, Marsha, and built a dynasty unmatched by others, forever changing the scope of heavy metal.

Born in 1952, Zazula began his extraordinary journey as a renegade youthwho went from living on the streets of the Bronx in New York City, to later working on Wall Street, and eventually (and unexpectedly) transitioning into the music business and discovering Metallica,Anthraxand others. Today, Jonny Z remains one of the most respected names in heavy metal.

After Wall Street, Jonny Z began selling records at a flea market store in 1981 to put food on the table for his family. Dubbed Rock N’ Roll Heaven, the store eventually blossomed into a major record store that influenced the heavy metal movement as we know it today. In the winter of 1982, Jonny Z received an unexpected demo tape from unsigned underground band called Metallica. Eager and determined to have the music heard by the entire world, Jonny and Marsha founded Megaforce Records the following year and released Metallica‘s debut album, Kill ‘Em All. Through this release,Megaforcecemented its position as the de-facto music label in America for heavy metal. The bands they would go on to work with released some of the most important albums in heavy metal history, giving it its Golden Era.

Heavy Tales details the stories of how Jonny Z worked miracles by managing and releasing albums by Metallica,  Anthrax, Testament,  Mercyful Fate, Overkill, Exciter, Stormtroopers of Death, Method of Destruction,  Raven, Ace Frehley, King’s X,Minisrty. Mindfunk, Nudeswirl,Warren Haynes,Disco Biscuits and others.

The stories told in Heavy Tales were captured and compiled by Harold Claros-Maldonado, a lifelong fan of heavy metal who originally contacted the Zazulas to write a report on early Metallica. After several discussions, Zazula felt Claros-Maldonado would be the ideal partner to help him tell his story in the book.

FATES WARNING Launch Video For “Begin Again”, New Album Out Now

Yesterday, November 6th FATES WARNING released their new album, Long Day Good Night, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a video for the track “Begin Again” can be viewed here:

Purchase and stream Long Day Good Night in full now at: metalblade.com/fateswarning – where the album is available in various formats.

Fates Warning have been a formidable presence in progressive metal for more than 35 years, helping to shape and drive the genre without ever compromising their integrity or losing relevance. They return in 2020 with Long Day Good Night, the most epic and longest album of their storied career – mixed by Joe Barresi. “The styles of music we’ve written distinguish this record from the rest of our catalogue,” states vocalist Ray Alder. “There are some songs with electronics and some with a nice ethereal feel, as well as some pretty straightforward grooves, at least for us. And there are also some pretty heavy songs. We tried to give the listener a host of different things to listen to, as opposed to an album where every song sounds the same.” As such, the album is something of a rollercoaster ride, moving through various moods and making for perhaps their most vital release to date.

Guitarist Jim Matheos began writing the album in mid-2019, working closely with Alder for about a year, honing the songs, completing 13 for their 13th full-length – which un-coincidentally has a total running time of 72:22. Despite their long history of making records, Alder makes it clear that the songs take a lot of work to realize. “Like all albums, nothing comes easy. It’s quite a process to go from the idea to the actual finished song. Sometimes you think you’re done with it, then you hear something else and you have to try that. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but you at least have to try it just so you know that in the end you’ve done everything possible to make it as good as it can be. Jim and I spent practically every day for the last year writing this album. I am very happy with the outcome, and with the blend of styles. I guess I could say that this album represents all of the years that we have been together.”

The record also features guest appearances from touring guitarist Mike Abdow, who contributed some solos, plus Porcupine Tree/The Pineapple Thief drummer Gavin Harrison plays on “When Snow Falls”, and “Under The Sun” sees the band incorporating a full string section for the first time. The result of all the hard work put in by all involved is undeniable, and with Long Day Good Night, Fates Warning once again take a bold step forward into the next phase of their exhilarating career.

With their much-anticipated new album “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder” set to launch Dark Essence Records 2021 releases, ENDEZZMA have today released a single and a new video from the album, giving fans both an audio, and visual taste of what they can expect from the Norwegian Black Metallers.

The single, titled “Anomalious Abomination” can be streamed or downloaded at this location.

About the video the band had this to say:

“Anomalious Abomination” is the first video from The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder’s dark infernal paradise. The music and track itself,  as well the visuals of the video,  is a rabid, fierce and infernal bestial “kick off” to the Archers mythical universe of perseverance, liberation and progress. This video is the first in a trinity of collaborations with the brilliant, artistic and Mephistophelic video director Guilherme Henriques,  and his way of working out the inner energy of the band. Let’s open the doors:

The law of the house celebrates death
The law of the house celebrates wild flesh on fire
Follow the archer’s arrow
Through the haze and the heart of your desire

Recorded at the Vika Studio and the Malpherno Studio in Norway, “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder”, was mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna at the Necromorbus Studio in Stockholm.  With cover painting by Stefan Todorovic/Kahos Diktator Design, tracklisting for “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder” is as follows:

  1. The Awakening
  2. The Name of the Night is a Strong Tower
  3. Anomalious Abomination
  4. The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder
  5. Formless and Void
  6. Garden ov Heathen
  7. Wild Glorior Death
  8. Open Your Eyes and Stab the Sight
  9. Arrows of Equilibrium
  10. Closure

“The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder” will be available in Digipak CD and LP formats, with an A2 poster included with the vinyl version, and is now available to pre-order from the following:

Formed in 2006 by frontman M. Shax,  ENDEZZMA’s  current lineup, includes M. Malphas on guitars, Nihil on Rythm Guitar,  Skriu on  Drums and Aske on bass, forming a cohesive group of musicians who together demonstrate a  brand of brutal, fiercely intense, and yet aesthetically mystical approach to their music.   With their third full-length album ENDEZZMA have taken a huge step forward in their song writing, and produced an album that bridges the gap between dark anthems and primitive aggression.
