THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF: “The Virtuoso” – Majestic, New Album & Music Video

“When I first worked with “The Commander In Chief” and heard her play the guitar I knew instantly she was rewriting the rule book on electric guitar faculty and propelling this instrument into an entirely different sound world, totally unique and entirely different from what we generally know of the electric guitar. Her unique and classical-esque guitar tone sings and transcends beauty, capturing emotion in such a way that it mesmerizes at every twist and turn of the melody and blends beautifully with the orchestra.

Simply put, “The Commander In Chief” has given the electric guitar an entirely new and refreshingly different life form, one which fascinates and inspires when you hear it, and one that for me as a music producer is incredibly fulfilling to work with.”  John Haywood – Music Producer

With her stunningly beautiful, catchy, re-written versions of the classical masterpieces “Toccata & Fugue” and “Moonlight Sonata”, 7 string guitarist, singer, songwriter and pianist THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF solidifies her role as the leading trailblazer among electric guitar virtuosos today. The two songs are part of a 13 tracks album – “The Virtuoso” – with release on the 20th of November.

These two songs are the result of her collaboration with platinum selling, super producer John Haywood (known for his many years of collaboration with leading violin virtuoso David Garrett), who produced, orchestrated and co-arranged the two songs.

In addition to the 2 new tracks from her collaboration with Haywood, the album features 8 tracks from her best selling 2014 album “2 Guitars – The Classical Crossover Album” – which was her successful collaboration with world leading classical guitarist Craig Ogden. It includes their historical guitar recording of “Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso,” in addition to the first ever guitar recording of “Zigeunerweisen Op. 20” and their guitar duel of Paganini’s “Caprice 24.” The music videos for the last two songs went viral. The 8 songs from the collaboration with Craig Ogden were produced, engineered and mixed by James Mottershead, who also engineered the two songs produced by John Haywood.

“The Virtuoso” also includes 3 original bonus tracks, showcasing her incredibly beautiful, bel canto trained, soprano voice, all recorded “live” with no use of auto tune, in addition to her songwriting and piano playing. The three acoustic songs were co-produced, engineered and mixed by “The Commander In Chief” and her manager.

All the songs on the album were mastered by legendary, award winning mastering expert Stephen Marsh.

“Toccata & Fugue” and “Moonlight Sonata” were mixed by award winning engineer/producer Goetz Botzenhardt.

The album will be released on all digital platforms on November 20th, 2020. Signed CDs are available for pre-order on her website,  commandermusic.com now, with 2 FREE ringtones and an immediate download of “Toccata and Fugue” as a bonus for everyone who pre-orders the album.

Ukraine’s busiest groove metal machine JINJER are back with their brand new single “Retrospection (Live)”, taken from their upcoming live album: Alive In Melbourne, which will be released on November 20, 2020 via Napalm Records. The live album and subsequent videos were filmed on March 5th this year during their debut Australian tour with the pandemic hot on the heels of their Macro World Tour, which would sadly, along with the rest of the musical landscape come to a screeching halt a week after the Melbourne set was captured for on film. Still, with JINJER‘s sheer will, drive, determination and never give up attitude they were able to turn the madness of this year into a positive.

Bassist Eugene Abdukhanov comments: It‘s still pretty incredible that 4 Ukrainians travelled 14,770 km just to sing in their native language … to the welcoming ears, eyes and open arms of Melbourne. This night will forever be burned in our hearts and the beat of “Retrospection” fit that night like never before. Shows like this should happen each time we perform and we cannot wait to get back on tour to make sure that happens every night. Until then just enjoy this moment in time called Alive In Melbourne“

Despite the Global Pandemic, JINJER have managed to stay busier than before and besides releasing their debut live album, they toured Germany and Switzerland in September becoming the first non-European band to tour across borders during the age of Covid-19 and they are also currently filming videos for all remaining tracks on their previously released album Macro.

Alive In Melbourne is now available for pre-order and will be released in various lavish limited editions.

ACCUSER Launch Lyric Video For New Single “Misled Obedience”

On November 13th, ACCUSER will release their new self-titled album via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of Accuser, a lyric video for the new single, “Misled Obedience”, can be viewed here:

The first single, “Phantom Graves”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/accuser – where the record can also be pre-ordered in various formats.

Since they began flying the flag for German thrash in the 80s, Accuser have gone on to prove themselves one of the most enduring forces in global metal. With eleven full-lengths behind them, they return in 2020 with their latest masterwork: a blistering collection that captures everything that makes the band so vital, produced by longtime collaborator Martin Buchwalter (who has worked on five Accuser albums) and mastered by Dan Swanö. “You stay fresh through curiosity,” states vocalist/guitarist Frank Thoms. “Writing new songs keeps you fresh, and it is always exciting how things develop and how the listener reacts to them afterwards. This process never gets boring. It is always exciting and invites you to try new things.” The result is a dynamic album that is very much rooted in thrash, but still takes the listener through various moods and styles, further cementing Accuser‘s status as leaders, not followers.

The return of lead guitarist René Schütz to the band’s ranks – who appeared on multiple Accuser records prior to 2011 – only served to up the ante on Accuser. “We are very, very happy to have him back in the band, and as you will be able to hear, his leads are definitely over the top. From my perspective, he is one of the very, very few thrash metal guitarists who are able to combine technique and feeling in a proper way.” With writing for the new record commencing as soon as 2018’s The Mastery was completed, Thoms pushed himself until he was in “100% concentration mode”, knowing he is on the right path when he forgets his daily routine and normal life falls away. With no structure or plan envisaged, the songs came together naturally, as they always have. “The Accuser sound is in our DNA, and at the end of the day, it is our own blend of thrash metal. To be honest, that’s what I like best during the process of making a record, seeing how the music develops and how the album is taking shape.” The shape Accuser took is definitely versatile, and perhaps sounds simpler than it actually is. “We managed to make well thought-out songs sound simple. Crazy things don’t seem like a disturbance or a foreign body. In addition, we have inconspicuously processed various genres of metal. Ultimately, we just tried to offer the essence of the band, the groove from ‘Repent‘ (1992), the riffs in the veins of ‘Who Dominates Who‘ (1989), plus structures that could be found on the first album ‘The Conviction‘ (1987) and stylistics that could be from ‘Reflections‘ (1994) or ‘Taken By The Throat‘ (1995) – everything put together in catchy songs.”

The combination of these elements that shout back to earlier  Accuser releases – without repeating or copying themselves – alongside the return of Schütz, led Thoms to believe this album “must be called Accuser“.

Accuser track-listing
1. Misled Obedience
2. Phantom Graves
3. Temple of All
4. Lux in Tenebris
5. Be None the Wiser
6. Rethink
7. Psychocision
8. Contamination
9. The Eliminator
10. Seven Lives
11. A Cycle’s End

LABYRINTH To Release New Studio Album “Welcome to the Absurd Circus” In January, New Single Out Now

Italian metallers LABYRINTH will return with their new studio album, “Welcome to the Absurd Circus” in 2021. Once again, speedy power metal songs with unforgettable hooks, epic prog infused metal songs, and some great melodic numbers constitute a record which is going to become another milestone for the Italian metal masters! “Welcome To The Absurd Circus” follows the band’s well-received 2017 comeback album, “Architecture of a God”. Today, fans can get their first taste of the album with the new single and video, ‘The Absurd Circus’.

Pre-order/save “Welcome To The Absurd Circus” HERE: https://orcd.co/labyrinth

In the spring of 2016, the band’s founding members Andrea Cantarelli and Olaf Thorsen received a call from Frontiers, asking them to discuss with singer Roberto Tiranti the possibility of a comeback for the band. After much thought, the guys agreed to get back together and round out the line-up with John Macaluso (now replaced by Mattia Peruzzi), Oleg Smirnoff (Vision Divine, Eldritch) on keyboards, and Nik Mazzucconi (Hardline, Edge of Forever) on bass, Labÿrinth’s comeback album “Architecture of a God” (2017) was a definite and true return to form.

With the release of “Return to Heaven Denied” in 1998, Labÿrinth had a “classic” album on their hands, which was embraced by fans and metal scribes alike and gave a strong push not only to the band’s career, but also to the Italian metal scene as a whole. More albums followed, but after the release of “Return to Heaven Denied, Pt. 2 – A Midnight Autumn Dream” in 2010 the band went on an indefinite hiatus.

Their return in 2017 was greeted with open arms by metal fans from around the globe. Their upcoming release sees the band continuing the reinvigoration they showed on “Architecture Of A God” and pushing it even further.

A must hear for not only fans of the band, but progressive and power metal fans in general.

LEAVES’ EYES Release “War Of Kings” Video

The brand new video “War Of Kings” has been released on 28th October 2020 – watch the new epic clip by LEAVES’ EYES now on the AFM YouTube channel:

This song is taken from the recent album “The Last Viking” which came out on Friday, 23rd October, 2020. It obviously meets the German metal fan’s approval by entering Germany album charts on #28 in week no. 1.

The album is taking you on a journey to past times – per annum 1066, the last Viking King, called Hardrada, is dead – the Vikings’ age is over. Long live the Vikings.

“The Last Viking” is the 2020-monumental-piece of LEAVES’ EYES. The setting of the symphonic metal masterpiece couldn’t be more tremendous. With their cult-albums “Vinland Saga” (2005) and “King of Kings” (2015) they already turned Leif Erikssons discovery of America and the life of Norway’s first king into music. Now, LEAVES’ EYES bring the Viking Sagas to their bombastic finale.
