BE THE WOLF Reveal ‘Torino’ Album Details

BE THE WOLF, the original band of songwriter Federico Mondelli (Frozen Crown, Volturian), return three years after the latest ‘Empress’ with the fourth album which, starting from the title, marks a sort of return to the past for them: ‘Torino’.

Here is how the band commented: “When we started all this, to be the wolf meant turning our hunger into music, and not following anybody except our own style. Almost ten years later, while on the outside everything is different and unrecognizable, nothing has changed inside of us. Not even the permanent trace of the city where everything started. Torino is not an ordinary city. It sticks to you and marks you forever, leaving a black shade in your soul”.

The trio retraces their entire experience in an album that encompasses the pop frenzy of the debut album, the torrid blues of the enigmatic ‘Rouge’ and the hard rock attitude of the third album, offering their best release ever.

The tracklist is as follows:

01 Undefeated
02 April
03 Failures
04 Teenage Mutants
05 Stay Awake
06 Pretty Little Things
07 Cinnamon
08 Torino
09 Sorry Not Sorry
10 Dancing Rhinos

Produced once again by Andrea Fusini (also behind the soundboard for Frozen Crown and Volturian), ‘Torino’ will be released on January 15th, 2021, on Scarlet Records.

Blacklight Media Records / Metal Blade Records is proud to welcome WAR CURSE to its worldwide roster!

Formed in 2013 in Cincinnati, OH, War Curse unleashed their debut full-length Final Days (Static Tension Recordings / Iron Mouth) in 2015, with media hailing it as “catchy, quick to the point, precisely executed with plenty of shredding solos, and enough punk/hardcore grit to give it a snarling edge” (NineCircles.co). Their sophomore record – 2019′s Eradication  (Svart Records) – saw the band “confidently mesh their old school values with modern sensibilities, addictively crunchy riffs and infectious song-writing” (TeethOfTheDivine.com). War Curse‘s upcoming album – and Blacklight Media Records / Metal Blade Records debut – will surely please fans and critics once again upon its release in 2021.

Guitarist Justin Roth comments: “It’s hard to believe that we made it from the basement to Metal Blade Records in 7 years, but it’s proof that hard work still pays off. Now with Blacklight Media and the entire Metal Blade crew behind us, we have an opportunity to capitalize on that effort and realize the full potential of War Curse. We couldn’t be more thankful or excited.”

Forged in tradition and unconcerned with industry trends, War Curse walks a path blazed by thrash metal titans of yesteryear while creating a distinct imprint of their own. High energy shows across the world garnered War Curse the reputation of being a must-see live act, captivating fans young and old with their thoughtfully written, no-holds-barred brand of metal. The band’s true-to-roots Bay Area sound has resonated with crowds and media alike, giving War Curse the ability to transcend genre lines and appeal to everyone from diehards to casuals. Simply put, War Curse is a sleeping giant ready to emerge as the next torchbearer.

Stay tuned for more news about War Curse coming soon!

War Curse line-up:
Blaine Gordon – vocals
Justin Roth – guitar
Joshua Murphy – guitar
James Goetz – drums
Johnnie Wallace – bass

NADER SADEK Release Video ‘The Serapeum: Polluted Waters’ With New Project, Ft. Karl Sanders, Derek Roddy And More

Renowned Egyptian-American artist, director, and death metal musician  NADER SADEK has unleashed the single / video ‘The Serapeum: Polluted Waters’, taken from his four-track The Serapeum Extended Single, to be released 20th November. The offering serves as his first output since 2014’s critically-lauded The Malefic: Chapter III EP and a taste of his impending full-length, set to be released during the first half of 2021.

Premiered via Decibel, watch the video here:

Stream / purchase here: www.nadersadekartist.bandcamp.com

The Serapeum features principal members Karl Sanders (Nile), Derek Roddy (Serpents Rise), and Mahumud Gecekusu (Perversion), who visited Egypt in 2017 at the invitation of SADEK and Cairometal.net, alongside a host of equally notable guests. Marking Sanders’ and Roddy’s first ever visit to the ancient land, the EP is monikered after an ancient Egyptian subterranean burial chamber and reflects the collective’s deep inspiration by the grounds explored.

‘The Serapeum: Polluted Waters’ features Sanders’ signature tone on rhythm guitar yet offers a different angle of experimentation, with the inclusion of eastern harmonies and drones provided by Alex Zubair (Nephelium), and instead of chants, Nancy Mounir, one of Egypt’s top musical talents, adds the ever haunting theremin to the mix. Dominic “Forest” Lapointe plays the low end, and Mahumud Gecukusu performs the guitar solo. The track also features Roddy‘s staggering drum work along with SADEK’s ferocious vocal delivery. To complete this musical encounter with the archaeological wonders of Egypt, SADEK recorded the vocals inside the inner chamber of Giza’s “Red Pyramid.”

Thematically, NADER SADEK’s The Serapeum draws inspiration from the contrast between the wondrous mystery of the Serapeum and its undervalued status today as simply a tomb for bulls. As an underground complex of twenty-four eighty-ton sarcophagi, many archaeologists consider it a stranger and more complicated legacy than the pyramids.

SADEK comments: “By recording in the Serapeum and the Red Pyramid, not only did we want to take advantage of the amazing acoustic effects of these ancient structures, we wanted to explore how the powers that be arrogantly dismiss that which they don’t understand.”

SADEK explores this theme and draws parallels in the lyrics like, “Bull tomb uncovered, fallacy discovered / The reign of lambs begotten,” and, “Dead Serapis’ decay, sands triggered, shall pay / Serapeum! Rise! and confront us with the truth’s majesty.” These lyrics symbolically portray the relationship of modern to ancient Egypt, once the greatest civilization, now a cesspool of poverty and dilapidation. The Serapeum, like the musical performances on this single, will find its admirers in those who reject the shallow and superficial comforts of the familiar.

DEMONICAL Premiere New Music Video For “Slipping Apart”

In anticipation of tomorrow’s release date of DEMONICAL‘s sixth studio album “World Domination”, the Swedish death metallers unveil a brand new video for the song “Slipping Apart”, featuring guest vocals from heavy metal singer Nils Patrik Johansson (Astral Doors, ex-Civil War). Watch the video here:

The new album “World Domination” will be available on October 23rd via Agonia Records. The record is available in physical and digital formats at this location.

“World Domination” is a gateway to old and new DEMONICAL. The band’s sixth album marks the debut for vocalist Christofer Sätderdal and the return for original drummer Ronnie Bergerstål (2006-2011, 2019-present). There are no major changes to the band’s proven formula of brutal, melodic and insolently Swedish death metal. “World Domination” picks up where 2018’s “Chaos Manifesto” left off, with a touch of extra dynamics and vibrancy that enrich the band’s sound.

DEMONICAL commented: “So here we have it, World Domination; our sixth full-length album and the first one to feature new vocalist. Christofer Sätderdal and new-old drummer Ronnie Bergerstål. World Domination continues the same path as our previous Chaos Manifesto slap, in other words, fierce HM-2 driven Swedish death metal, a ravage combination of brutality, melody and darkness. As always on every album, even this time we tried out some new traces and elements we haven’t explored before and have to say that we are stoked about the final outcome. When it comes to the production, this is clearly our most dynamic and vivid album so far. Not only did we use a different way of recording everything, we went also for a much more energetic and breathing sound closer to how albums were produced in the late 80’s and early 90’s. World Domination was recorded at a few different studios around Sweden, then mixed & mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén – a victorious collaboration we started with on our previous album.”

“World Domination” was recorded in June 2020 at Glashuset and Sellnoise studios by Johan Hjelm and Jonas Arnberg, with production by DEMONICAL. Mixing and mastering were handled by award winning producer Karl Daniel Lidén (Bloodbath, Katatonia) at Tri-Lamb Studios. The cover artwork was created by Susan Wicher.New band photos were taken by Jens Ryden.

Tracklist:
1. My Kingdom Done
2. Hellfire Rain
3. Aeons of Death
4. The Thin Darkness
5. We Stand as One
6. Victorious
7. Slipping Apart
8. Calescent Punishment
