French black metal pioneers SETH will release a new album via Season of Mist in the first half of 2021. The band has furthermore unveiled a teaser of the upcoming record, which can be viewed at the Season of Mist Youtube Channel HERE.

The band comments: “We belong to the label’s very first bands as our debut album ‘Les Blessures de l’Âme’ was released by Season of Mist back in 1998. Today, more than twenty years after, we proudly start a new path together again, to disclose album VI, rising from the ashes of the true genesis of SETH.”

SETH’s first full-length ‘Les Blessures de L’Ame’ was released by Season of Mist in 1998 and soon it became one of the cornerstones of the French Black Metal scene. The band fulfilled a pioneering role as they were the first to use French lyrics in black metal. With this critically acclaimed record, the black metallers grew a solid, international fan base and got noticed overseas shortly after.

After participating on the MAYHEM cult tribute album ‘Originators of the Northern Darkness’ alongside IMMORTAL and BEHEMOTH, the band inked a two-release deal with Osmose Productions. The second full-length ‘The Excellence’ featured a contribution from Fenriz (DARKTHRONE) who wrote the lyrics for the song ‘Let Me Be The Salt In Your Wound’.

A third album titled ‘Divine-X’ was recorded in 2002 at the Excess Studios in Rotterdam (EPICA, AFTER FOREVER, SINISTER). This full-length demonstrated the ability of the band to mix gloomy and violent atmospheres. The record received extensive coverage from the international metal press at the time.

Returning to the Netherlands to record the fourth album ‘Era-Decay’, two new members joined the ranks of SETH: vocalist Black Messiah and guitarist Cyriex. Afterwards, the band was invited to play at the prestigious Inferno festival in Norway in 2005.

A long hiatus followed, until SETH returned in 2011 to play an exclusive show in Germany with the legendary band BETHLEHEM. The band re-joined the ranks of Season of Mist, eventually releasing ‘The Howling Spirit’ and going on a European tour with cult death metallers PESTILENCE. Several appearances at major festivals followed, including Hellfest and Graspop Metal Meeting and a Canadian headliner tour.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘Les Blessures de L’Ame’ in 2018, SETH exclusively performed the entire album at festivals in Switzerland, Canada (Messe de Morts) and Belgium (Thronefest). The French label Les Acteurs de l’Ombre productions released a live recording of these shows, called ‘20 ans de Blasphème’. The band’s new line-up featured members of LOUDBLAST, ARKHON INFAUSTUS and MELTED SPACE.

In the meantime, SETH have recorded a new album which will see the light of day in the first half of 2021 via Season of Mist.

Having recently signed a two-album deal with ENDEZZMA, Dark Essence  Records have today announced  the details of “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder”, the third full-length album from the Norwegian Black Metallers, and which is set to herald in the new year when it hits the streets on the 21st January 2021.

Formed in 2006 by frontman M. Shax,  ENDEZZMA’s  current lineup, includes M. Malphas on guitars, Nihil on Rythm Guitar,  Skriu on  Drums and Aske on bass, forming a cohesive group of musicians who together demonstrate a  brand of brutal, fiercely intense, and yet aesthetically mystical approach to their music.

With “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder”, ENDEZZMA have taken a huge step forward in their song writing. Mixing the raw grimness of the early days of black metal with the epic grandeur of later bands, to produce an album that bridges the gap between dark anthems and primitive aggression.

Recorded at the Vika Studio and the Malpherno Studio in Norway, “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder”, was mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna at the Necromorbus Studio in Stockholm.  With cover painting by Stefan Todorovic/Kahos Diktator Design, the album will be available in Digipak CD and LP formats, with an A2 poster included with the vinyl version.

Tracklisting for “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder” is as follows:

  1. The Awakening
  2. The Name of the Night is a Strong Tower
  3. Anomalious Abomination
  4. The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder
  5. Formless and Void
  6. Garden ov Heathen
  7. Wild Glorior Death
  8. Open Your Eyes and Stab the Sight
  9. Arrows of Equilibrium
  10. Closure

Commenting on the album ENDEZZMA had this to say:

We are excited to finally bring out the news and details of “The Archer, Fjord and the Thunder” because this is an album into which we really have placed not just a piece of our heart but also our  whole soul.  Never before have we worked as hard and as determinedly on every little detail of an album.  In it we really see the band arise out of the ashes as a new golden entity, with a hunger  that is more rabid than ever, filled with the desire to set the world ablaze with our music.

We feel that the album takes the band into a new epic and mythical landscape and sends  the listeners out on an  infernal, intense, and epic journey to a dark and obscure world that is lit by the archer’s flaming arrows of equilibrium, wild glorious death and anomalious abomination.

“The Archer Fjord and the Thunder” should be considered as a concept album, and we invite you into our world of stellar darkness, to explore our path of burning devotion…We are Endezzma

ENDEZZMA recently releases a video for the track “Serpent Earth” from their 2017 album “The Arcane Abyss” and it can be seen below.

Watch the video for ’Three Time’s A Charm’ below.

Slim Jim Phantom:

“THREE TIME’S A CHARM” is probably my favorite song from the “40” album – I remember when Brian first played it for me over the phone – He had told me he wanted to write one around Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps style where the drums follow the lyric. This one was perfect and we came up with a good drum part over the phone in 5 minutes. I don’t even think we had a demo for that one. Brian played guitar and I played drums right over the phone. It worked in the studio and it was a natural one to play live. I dig this one the most!”

HEARTS & HAND GRENADES To Release Debut Full-Length Album ‘Turning To Ashes’ On January 8th, Unleash New Music Video “Nothing Left”

Buffalo NY hard rockers HEARTS & HAND GRENADES will release their debut full-length album entitled Turning To Ashes on January 8, 2021 via Eclipse Records. The album was produced by Justin Rose (Goo Goo Dolls, James Taylor, Spyro Gyra) at GCR Audio, and the album art was designed by Jeff Balance at 119 Design. Pre-Save / Pre-Order at this location.

Turning To Ashes is a hard rockin’ energetic debut from upstate New York’s hardest working rock band. Fronted by Stephanie Wlosinski on lead vocals and bass guitar, this band is literally exploding with a sharp, edgy sound full of savage riffs and powerfully deep lyrics. The very first single off the album “Nothing Left” kicks things off with a breakup song about ending toxic relationships, and it is evident this band does not mess around. With the second single “The In Crowd”, the band tells a story about dive bars off the beaten path, hitmen, and other shady characters. “Adrenaline” ramps it up a notch singing about the band’s insatiable appetite for being on stage and performing live. The title track “Turning to Ashes” was written about feeling like you don’t fit in or that you’re different from everyone else around you. The future is shining bright on this band, and it is easy to see the bright future ahead of them! See below for the full track listing of the album.

The band have also revealed their first music video from the album, for the first single entitled “Nothing Left“. The video was directed by Charles Butera. Watch it right now, below.

“Nothing Left was written as a cathartic outlet for me that no relationship is worth hanging onto when it starts to result in negativity,” says vocalist Stephanie Wlosinski. “I’ve been in a couple of toxic relationships where I eventually found myself at the breaking point and had to move on. When you are just fed up with someone else’s idea of what you should act like, look like, and think like; it’s definitely time to end it!” Guitarist Mike Bress adds “it was definitely way too hot in that place where we did the shoot. Even with the AC and fans, we were all sweating and having to take a break after every take. Fortunately someone from the brewery next door passed by and saw what we were doing. Shortly afterwards, they surprised us with an ice-cold keg of kraft beer… looking back on that day I now realize that they may have saved our lives!”

Turning To Ashes track listing
01. Turning to Ashes
02. For the Weakened
03. Daggers
04. I Hide
05. Adrenaline
06. Nothing Left
07. The In Crowd

OUTLAWS Issue Classic Performance On CD/DVD ‘Live At Rockpalast 1981’

On August 29, 1981, OUTLAWS rocked Lorelei in Germany. And now, fans can see and hear the proof, with the September 25th arrival of ‘Live at Rockpalast 1981’. 60 minutes of southern rock at its finest, the classic Outlaws line-up of Freddie Salem (guitar/vocals), Hughie Thomasson (guitar/vocals), Billy Jones (guitar/voc), David Dix (drums) and Rick Cua (bass) is on display throughout this hour-long performance (issued via MIG), which can be purchased here: https://outlaws.lnk.to/rockpalast

And all the expected early Outlaws classics are included – “Devil’s Road,” “Hurry Sundown,” “Holiday,” “(Ghost) Riders In The Sky,” and “Green Grass And High Tides.” The track “(Ghost) Riders In The Sky” (original title: “Ghost Riders In The Sky: A Cowboy Legend”) was penned by Stan Jones and had already been covered by Johnny Cash and the Blues Brothers, became the new anthem of southern rock fans in the Outlaw version. At Lorelei, the Outlaws played an 8-minute version of “Ghost Riders In The Sky” with a guitar battle between Freddie Salem, Hughie Thomasson and Billy Jones, while the blissful fans in the audience waved an oversized Southern States banner. Another incredible live experience is their other Southern statement, “Green Grass And High Tides”, which stretches over a breathtaking 20 minutes!

Guitarist Freddie Salem (who also pens the liner notes for the CD/DVD) remembers: “Speaking for the other Outlaws and myself, after playing in thousands of shows for thousands of people, Lorelei, Germany and the Rockpalast concert will always remain a wonderful and ongoing memory in our career!”

For more than 45 years, the Outlaws have flown the Southern Rock banner like no other band in the land. Known for their unique triple-guitar rock attack and three-part country harmonies, the Tampa-born group’s first three albums on Arista – featuring hits like ‘There Goes Another Love Song’, ‘Green Grass & High Tides’, ‘Knoxville Girl’ and ‘Freeborn Man’ – became Southern Rock milestones, while relentless tours with peers like The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band and The Charlie Daniels Band – as well as performing alongside The Who, Eagles and The Rolling Stones – solidified the reputation of ‘The Florida Guitar Army’ as genre legends.

And now, fans can witness the band at the peak of their in-concert powers, with the most-welcome arrival of ‘Live at Rockpalast 1981.’
