November 20th, 2020, will see French Death Metal act, SKELETHAL, release their hotly anticipated, sophomore album titled “Unveiling The Threshold“.

Eight years since the band’s inception, various splits, demos and the impressively brutal, 2017- debut album “Of The Depths…”,  SKELETHAL  return to the scene stronger than ever! “Unveiling The Threshold” strikes back with not only classic death metal but its Swedish late 80’s/early 90’s counterpart, when the subgenre was still in its infancy yet still did reek of that unmistakable stench, away from modern trickery and trends. The band’s forthcoming album succeeds in both staying true to the sound’s historical roots, with its raw blend you could also easily find yourself in an unreleased HETSHEADS or CARNAGE demo – while going beyond the simple and now too-limited SweDeath tag. “Unveiling The Threshold” grabs you by the throat before circling its listener like a vulture.

After the four-piece recently premiered a first clip taken from their upcoming album, they have just unleashed a second single, the raw death metal magnum opus “Repulsive Recollections“! Watch the blistering band performance in SKELELETHAL’s new video here:

SKELETHAL, who are featuring members of SCHIZOPHRENIA, MORTAL SCEPTER and ex-INFINITE TRANSLATION, resurrect a certain idea of the underground – some may say ‘true’ – that seemingly disappeared back in 1991, but what‘s most striking about “Unveiling The Threshold“, is actually how genuinely evil and undiluted their death metal sounds. To keep it raw, authentic and high-voltage, SKELETHAL recorded the 8 fast-paced tracks by themselves in their rehearsal room in Tourcoing nearby Lille in France, before handing the result over to Greg Wilkinson from the now (in)famous Earhammer studios (NECROT, UNDERGANG, ACEPHALIX etc.) for the mix last June.

GAMA BOMB Release Second Single ‘Sheer Khan’ From Upcoming Album

Irish thrashers, GAMA BOMB, have released the second single to be taken from their upcoming studio album, Sea Savage. Sheer Khan is streaming everywhere now, and has an accompanying lyric video which can be viewed below. The nautical-themed Sea Savage will be released via Prosthetic Records on December 4; pre-orders are available now.

Of the track, vocalist, Philly Byrne comments: “I love songs with lots of ‘room’ in them – riffs that allow you to sing and have melodic ideas, without getting in the way, like classic Judas Priest songs. That’s the principle behind Sheer Khan: it’s a very different beast to our usual thrash, much more mid-paced and moody with a hard rock sound. It has post-apocalyptic lyrics inspired by movies like Mad Max and Bronx Warriors, mixed with a sort of Whitesnake vibe about dangerous women on the prowl. It’s my go at being a ‘Dimestore Dio’, and it’s great fun.”

Bassist Joe McGuigan adds: “The riff for this song came about in a strange manner: I was reading about the Marchioness of Londonderry, who died after jumping from Clifton Suspension Bridge in England. She was the wife of the singer Georgie Fame, so I ended up listening to his hit ‘Yeh Yeh’ a lot. Sheer Khan is a sort-of Countdown to Extinction take on that Georgie Fame lick, but done in a sort of Running Wild, nowadays-Saxon manner.  Me and Philly had been wanting to do a track in this style and tempo, so excelsior to you, Georgie!”

Armed with a riled up and raucously jubilant approach to heavy metal, GAMA BOMB’s Sheer Khan is a welcome slice of fist-pumping escapism. It’s hard to argue that the Irish thrashers’ ability to pair themes of post-apocalyptic fantasy horror with feel-good sonic abandon is anything short of infectious. The track is taken from an album that is inspired by Victorian horror and maritime adventures such as Moby Dick; Sea Savage is presented as a 19th Century play, with Act One and Act Two playing out on side A and side B of the record respectively.  The pelagic tale follows the crew of the steamer ‘S.S. Gama Bomb’ as they voyage in search of a real-life Yeti, only to go slowly mad on the high seas. It also features songs about 80s and 90s movies, because GAMA BOMB cannot help themselves.

Sea Savage was produced by the band’s own lead guitarist Domo Dixon, with the band members recording remotely in Dublin and Newry, Ireland, as well as London and Warsaw throughout spring and summer 2020. The album was then mixed and mastered by Zack Ohren (Testament, Carcass) in California, using analog ‘80s equipment to match the old-school metal vibe.

Sea Savage track list

1. Judo Killer
2. Sea Savage
3. Miami Supercops
4. She’s Not My Mother, Todd
5. Ironblood
6. Lords Of The Hellfire Club
7. Sheer Khan
8. Rusty Jaw
9. Monsterizer
10. Ready, Steady, Goat!
11. Electric Pentacle
12. Gone Haywire

VOODOO SIX released their new studio album “Simulation Game” yesterday, Friday October 16th. To celebrate the occasion, the band has unleashed a new single entitled “Liar And Thief.” Both the album and single can be ordered from https://smarturl.it/VoodooSix.

Critical consensus is that they’ve raised themselves to another level with this release. The band have signed a deal with Explorer 1 – a new Hollywood based full-service music company the band are ready to make their music resonate across the pond as well as in the UK, Europe and beyond.

“Suddenly everything’s come together. There’s groove, pace, power, insistent songs, and some stunning musicianship. These outrageously catchy anthems that prove Voodoo Six now have what it takes to be massive.” – Metal Hammer

“Simulation Game” is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2016 album “Make Way For The King.” Boasting the talent of vocalist and frontman Nik Taylor-Stoakes, “Simulation Game” features ten tracks produced and mixed by Tony Newton (Iron Maiden, British Lion, KK Downing, Airrace) and mastered by Ade Emsley (Iron Maiden, Steve Harris).

Iron Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris commented, “I’ve been keeping an eye on Voodoo Six for a while now and they’ve produced a cracking new album with real promise. It’s great to support true British up-and-coming talent.” The new album was recorded and mixed at Harris’ Barnyard Studios.

“Voodoo Six come bearing a hard, dusty-desert-driving dose of crunch’n’rock. Passion and technical proficiency aren’t lacking. Impressive solos and cool offbeat rhythms kick out in the rugged but rich sound they purvey.” – Classic Rock

The most recent signing to the Prosthetic Records roster is Missouri’s  SUMMONING THE LICH. The death metal four-piece have today released a brand new single with an accompanying music video, for a blistering track titled Descend.

Listen to Descend via Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

Watch the video below.

On signing to Prosthetic Records, the band had the following to say:

“We are beyond excited to announce our signing with Prosthetic Records! Some of our favorite bands, old and new, have been a part of the Prosthetic family and to join that group is incredible. They were always a label on our short list and their enthusiasm for our music, coupled with their confidence in our direction, made this decision a no-brainer.”

Prosthetic Records’ Steve Joh adds:

“Our friends at PinUp Management sent SUMMONING THE LICH our way and we were immediately blown away. While we were speaking with them, a great writer from the St. Louis area passed word that they were the nicest and hardest working band in the city, so we were sold! We can’t wait for you to hear more from these guys.”

Merging blistering black metal speed and trudging death metal menace with ruinous technical prowess, the quartet’s new track, Descend, ushers in an exciting new chapter for the band. SUMMONING THE LICH’s sound is one rooted in musical dexterity, abrasion and fantasy, lyrically drawing from the best elements of roleplay game favourites such as Dungeons & Dragons and Magic The Gathering.

Describing the new single, the band offered some insight on the song:

“Our single, Descend, is a cautionary tale on the dangers of abusing those who use magic and the true horrors that await within their world. With this song we centered the composition around the drudging chorus – to really help the listeners feel the plunge into the abyss. Danny Tilson did a killer job shooting and editing our video for the track and Mitch Myers from Orphan House was our vfx wizard. Our artist, Austin Phillips nails the artwork for the single and really captured the climax of this tale visually.”

The band’s rise from underground hopefuls to playing live dates alongside bands such as Origin and Beneath The Massacre – and several stops on the Summer Slaughter tour – to finding a new home in Prosthetic Records is just the start of their journey, which will continue in 2021 with the promise of yet more new material.
