Matryoshcada – The Lyrics Concept: when the illness transfigured my body and I could no longer recognize myself in the mirror, my soul spoke to me. Fragments of me resurfaced from the past and then went away forever. So I looked deep into my eyes and there I found the light of life.

Performed by: Cadaveria (vocals) Kris Laurent (guitar) Pier Gonella (guitar) Peter Dayton (bass) Marçelo Santos (drums). Recorded and mixed at MusicArt Studio and Rrooaarr Sound in September 2020. Back with a vengeance and hell-bent on destruction, Norwegian death metallers, CADAVER, are back in business and ready to reign. Today, Edder & Bile, the first full length from this band’s new incarnation of Anders Odden’s original, extreme metal vision, is unleashed unto the world via Nuclear Blast Records. In celebration, the band offer fans the lyric video for “Let Me Burn”.

Anders Odden comments, “‘Let Me Burn’ came to me at night, after one of our intense studio days in January 2019. I just got the opening riff and it led me out on this path that became the song. It was raining in North Hollywood that night and the whole feel of doom and gloom was shining through. I had with me a recording of my fireplace in Norway and knew this would make an awesome ending to the album. The song is about how we all will end up as ashes no matter who we are and what we do. It’s a nihilistic theme that means even more to me now after facing death with my cancer battle. When I was close to dying this winter, I always thought of having this song played super loud at my funeral with all the people having to read the lyrics during the ceremony. As I am not quite dead yet. I use it to tell you I cheated death, for now. Let Me Burn. I have no fear!”

Watch the lyric video for “Let Me Burn” here:

Edder & Bile was produced by the band as well as Adair Daufembach who also handled the engineering. The album was recorded and mixed at Northwood Sound Studios in Hollywood, CA. The album features vocal cameos from death metal icons Kam Lee (MASSACRE) and Jeff Becerra (POSSESSED) ensuring that this crushing rebirth has underground credentials to spare. The photo for the artwork was taken by Hannah Verbeuren and the layout was created by Justin Bartlett.

HATEBREED Share New Song “Cling To Life”, New Album “Weight Of The False Self” Out Now

Connecticut hardcore metal titans HATEBREED have released their eighth studio album Weight of The False Self via Nuclear Blast today, November 27. The album is available for purchase at this location.

The Grammy-nominated band just dropped the visualizer for the new track “Cling to Life”:

Weight of The False Self proves that over 20 years deep into an iconic career, Hatebreed remain vital.

Renowned for their ability to provide an intense and cathartic release for their fans, Hatebreed challenged themselves and their writing style in order to produce material that is exceptionally relatable in a contemporary world flooded with overstimulation, emotional dampening, and lack of social patience. “Weight of The False Self is a perfect representation of Hatebreed in 2020, a fresh onslaught of soon-to-be classics with all the elements that led you here since day one,” explains guitarist Frank Novinec.

Drummer Matt Byrne shares, “There’s no shortage of beefy riffs and adrenaline-fueled drums on this record. I’m proud to say that we will consistently provide a soundtrack to which you can mosh in your living room and destroy your apartment.”

Lee Ritenour Releases New Track ‘Abbot Kinney’ From Upcoming Solo Album

Lee Ritenour will release a brand new instrumental solo album ‘Dreamcatcher’ on December 4th via The Players Club. Today he’s unveiled a new track ‘Abbot Kinney’, stream it below.

Lee Ritenour:

‘This tune was inspired when I was in Venice, California one day during the pandemic shut down. The street, “Abbot Kinney”, is incredibly popular and normally busy with people, stores, and cafés. That day, Abbot Kinney was completely empty, except for someone rocking out on their guitar upstairs above the street. The sound was loud, bouncing up and down the boulevard, creating a cacophony of frustration, reverb and fun! It inspired me to go home and do my solo guitar version on my Gibson Les Paul. I dedicate this to all the lovers of the guitar and guitar players all over the world! Keep Rockin’!

For Lee Ritenour, there aren’t many ‘firsts’ left to achieve. During his dazzling five-decade career, the fabled LA guitarist has taken his music to the outer limits, alighting on every genre and occupying every position in the rock ‘n’ roll firmament. He’s been an enfant terrible of ’70s fusion, a crossover star of the ’80s pop chart, an honorary exponent of Brazilian jazz, and the fingers behind ’90s supergroup, Fourplay. Ritenour’s accolades include: 45 albums,16 Grammy nominations, Alumnus of the year at USC, Los Angeles’ Jazz Society Honoree (2019), plus thousands of sessions with legends such as Frank Sinatra, Pink Floyd, B.B. King, Tony Bennett, among others.

And yet, when he checks the rear-view mirror, the 68-year-old acknowledges he’s never made a record like Dreamcatcher. “People have been telling me for years: ‘Rit, you gotta make a solo guitar record’. In the past, I’ve always been the band guy, the ensemble guy, the collaborative-guitar-player guy. So this was the one project I hadn’t done. And this year, I knew it was time.”

Weaving tapestries of instrumental guitar and conjuring eclectic moods, the 12 tracks of Dreamcatcher rank amongst the most melodic and tinglingly beautiful in Ritenour’s catalogue. But there’s a power and purpose here, too, hinting at the darker circumstances that sparked this new record. “Our house and my studio in Malibu, California burnt down in 2018,” he recalls. “About 100 of my guitars went up in the fire, plus 40 amps, lots of music, the history of my whole career, pretty much. A week after the fire, I went to the hospital, which I’d never had to do before, for surgery to replace an aortic valve. So those incidents and the support from my family and friends absolutely went into this music. Making this record was a life-saver for me.”

EPICA Release Music Video For Second Single ‘Freedom – The Wolves Within’

Dutch symphonic metal giants EPICA recently announced the release of their new album “Omega”, out on February 26th 2021 via Nuclear Blast. “Omega” is the band’s first studio album in five years. Last month, EPICA also revealed the first single and video clip from the album, titled ‘Abyss Of Time’, which was viewed on YouTube over a million times within its first week.

Today, EPICA release a music video for their second single ‘Freedom – The Wolves Within’.

Get the single digitally here: http://nblast.de/Epica-OmegaDSP

Guitarist Mark Jansen comments: “This song is based on an old story of a fight between two wolves. A wise Cherokee is discussing life with his grandson: He tells the boy “There is a fight going on inside of me between two wolves.” One wolf is evil, he embodies anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other wolf is good, joyful, peaceful, and embodies love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. We all have the same fight going on inside of us and the outcome of this battle will reflect on the outer world. The boy gets curious and asks his grandfather which wolf will win? The old Cherokee simply answers “The one you feed the most.” What we want to be and what we want to reflect on the world around us depends on which wolf we feed and also the degree of control we have over our inner wolves. Will we manage to control them or will they control us?”

With this new single, the band and their label want to support a good cause and start a little challenge with the fans. Head over to this page to learn more and how you can take part: http://nblast.de/EpicaWolves

Three goals have been set on streaming platforms, and with each goal reached, Nuclear Blast will sponsor the symbolic adoption of 2 endangered grey wolves through the World Wildlife Fund, so that at the end of the game, each band member of EPICA will have adopted one animal. Not only do gray wolves suffer from steady habitat loss, they also have to endure revenge killings for attacks on wild stock, and the World Wildlife Fund depends on sponsorships and adoptions to conserve the natural habitat of these precious animals.
