Finnish occult murder pop inventors CVLT OV THE SVN have inked a worldwide record deal with Napalm Records.
While rock music seems to have lost its danger and mystique in a lot of ways, CVLT OV THE SVN are the force that embodies just that. Eeriness, danger and angst with a pinch of romanticism and seduction and a load of morbid horror theatrics – all wrapped in a melancholic and catchy, yet very rock, and at times even heavy, sound, drawing its influences from all sorts of artists and genres.
Commented the mysterious creative visionary behind the band: “For me the inspiration is darkness itself, as I am able to understand it. When I write songs, I want to push people’s boundaries, so I want to come up with ideas that make you go, ‘What the f**k?!’. Napalm Records is obviously one of the legends. It is an honor to be part of the lineage, part of this family”.
The band is currently working on their first full-length album – more to be announced soon.
After releasing their new album a few weeks ago, Italian Symphonic Metallers IVORY MOON, have teamed up with Metal Shock Finland to premiere exclusively their new single and video for the song ‘Man With A Face’, taken from the band’s new album ‘Lunar Gateway’, released on October 2nd, via Volcano Records & Promotion.
‘Man With A Face’ is a melodic and powerful song, accompanied by an intense and delicate video, illustrated and masterfully created by Sergio Giardo, designer of Nathan Never. The video tells a story of a hyperuranic journey, between planets and oneiric visions, which ends in an unexpected way.
Watch and enjoy ‘Man With A Face’ here:
To celebrate the video premiering Metal Shock Finland‘s Tarja Virmakari had a pleasure to interview the the band, please read below:
Hello IVORY MOON and welcome to Metal Shock Finland. Today we’ve a pleasure to premiere your stunning new single and video ‘Man With A Face’, please tell us the story behind it?
Hi Metal Shock Finland and hello to all your readers too! The new video was a beautiful unexpected gift from our graphic designer, Sergio Giardo, a fantastic artist, illustrator and cartoonist of the comic Nathan Never for the comic book publisher Bonelli Editore; The song is about how in the world people have and forced to wear many faces. Therefore it is always difficult to be yourself and not feel judged for what you are.
What are your musical influences, besides symphonic metal?
Our musical tastes range from extreme metal to 70s progressive rock, from Metallica to Yes, Queen, Megadeth, Slayer, Dream Theater and each member of the band has a different musical background.
Please introduce us the band members and their roles when writing music and choosing song topics.
Fabrizio zucchini is the founding member of the band and rhythm guitar. He is the composer of almost all the songs. Andrea Campisano is the solo guitarist and arranger of the songs. Fabrizio Sclano is the band’s bassist and historical member of the band. Fabio Bonuglia is the keyboardist and composer, together with Andrea, of the atmospheres of the new album. Patrizio Izzo is the male voice and singer who has been active in the field for a long time. Loretta Venditti is the female voice and composer of some of the album’s lyrics. Emiliano Cantiano is the drummer and is another well known member of the metal scene. Mainly, as anticipated, the songs were born from a collaboration between Fabrizio Z. And Andrea with the contribution of the other members.
Your new album “Lunar Gateway” came out on October 2nd, via Volcano Records & Promotion. How it’s been welcomed by Symphonic Metal lovers?
We had good feedback from old fans and new ones, positive reviews from the press. We can be satisfied with how the promotion and listening of the new album is going.
We’re living now quite difficult times, due to Covid-19 pandemic. Now that touring and playing live seem to be nearly impossible, how will you promote your new album?
We would have liked to do some dates in the national territory starting from December but with the current situation we have to adapt to the new provisions and we hope to be able to return live as soon as possible, and in the meantime we are preparing to be ready!
What are your highlights, so far?
The songs: Based on the feedback from the critics we can say that the songs have all had a good response as we hoped. The line-up: having changed almost completely, has a lot to give in view of the live shows and can guarantee continuity to the project
Now the word is yours, what is your message to our readers, your fans and music business?
Thanks for the support from our old and new fans! Listen to all the music possible, go to concerts to be able to support and keep the scene alive! Support those who, like us, have the same passion as you! Stay metal!

IVORY MOON was born in the summer of 2000, in Italy, and May 2002 saw the first Ivory Moon promo cd being released. In early 2004, the debut album, “On The Edge of Time” was recorded and released by Battle Hymns Records. In late 2005, the line-up underwent some changes, and the band started to work on new songs and ideas for the next album. During 2006, Ivory Moon took residence at Temple of Noise Studios in Rome, to record “Human Nature”. The album was tracked, mixed and mastered by Christian Ice and released by Ulterium Records. “Dark Time” was released in 2012 by Spider rock promotion and was followed by a promotion tour with Freedom Call. The New album ‘Lunar Gateaway’, released on October 2nd 2020, via Volcano Records and Promotion, was mixed and mastered in Temple of Noise studios, with a renewed line-up made up of old and new friends: Patrizio Izzo and Loretta Venditti voices, Andrea Campisano and Fabrizio Zucchini guitars, Fabrizio Sclano bass, Fabio Bonuglia Keyboards and Emiliano Cantiano drums. ‘Lunar Gateaway’ will keep true to the style of the previous records but with a much more modern sound. It will surely be the most complete album of the band: 10 songs of pure metal with symphonic, prog and hard rock influences, in the classic style of Ivory Moon.
Last year, SACRED REICH released their first record in twenty-three years: Awakening. Now, the band has launched a new video for the album track, “Something to Believe”, which can be viewed here:
Sacred Reich comments: “With the uncertainty that we are all experiencing, we think it’s time for Something To Believe.”
Awakening showcases everything a fan would expect and hope for from the Phoenix, Arizona unit: a timeless collection comprised of blistering thrash, crushing grooves, meticulous solos, and socially conscious lyrics. The return of Dave McClain, who manned the drum throne from 1991 to 1997, and the addition of twenty-two-year old guitarist Joey Radziwill, alongside original members guitarist Wiley Arnett and vocalist/bassist Phil Rind, are integral facets of the record. Awakening was produced by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy), engineered by John Aquilino, and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Halford, Armored Saint). On November 6th, France’s DÉLUGE will release their sophomore album, Ægo Templo, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a video for the new single, “Digue” (directed by VCR), can be viewed here:
Déluge comments: “We see life as a perpetual battle with your inner self, and ‘Digue’ (dike, breakwater) symbolizes that constant fight to stay in the bright side of life. To win this battle, we feel the necessity to embrace the dark part of it, in order to see every little glow in the darkness slowly becoming a strong flame, the need to change our perception to eventually see beauty where it is. But it is a curse and a deep weakness not being able to see beauty otherwise. The different scenes in the music video play with these emotions and the battles you fight with yourself, trying to keep yourself into the light.”
The previously released single, “Opprobre”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/deluge – where Ægo Templo can also be pre-ordered in various formats.
France has long been a fertile breeding ground for black metal, and one of its best kept secrets is Déluge, who have been kicking up a blend of that genre and post-hardcore since 2014. Dropping their debut full-length Æther in 2015, in 2020 they return with sophomore effort Ægo Templo, a more accessible record that pushes their sound in ever more imaginative directions. “I wanted to go further into something more ‘easy to listen to’, but I really did not want to lose what we had, that melancholia and the essence of our music,” states founding guitarist François-Thibaut Hordé. “It was a very interesting – and exhausting – challenge, and to me we have succeeded. We are really proud of this new record.”
Produced by François-Thibaut with assistance from engineers Thibault Chaumont/Deviant Lab studio (Igorrr, Carpenter Brut, Birds in Row) – who also mixed and mastered the album – and Amaury Sauvé / The Apiary studio who recorded the drums, Ægo Templo marks a bold step forward from their earlier recorded output. Featuring clean vocals on almost every track, keyboards and additional instruments on several songs, plus soprano saxophone on “Opprobre”, this new offering separates Déluge from their contemporaries, all the while maintaining their identity.
The band also turned to Valnoir from Metastazis Studio in Paris to once again design their artwork, and they asked several artists to guest on the record: Tetsuya Fukagawa of Japanese Screamo legends Envy adds vocals to “Gloire Au Silence”; Matthieu Metzger provides saxophone on “Opprobre”; and Hélène Muesser contributes vocals on “Abysses”, “Ægo Templo” and “Digue” – all helping to add further depths to the music.
Ægo Templo track-listing 1. Soufre 2. Opprobre 3. Abysses 4. Fratres 5. Gloire Au Silence 6. Ægo Templo 7. Baïne 8. Digue 9. Béryl 10. Vers
Even in these uncertain times, what comes next for Déluge is clear – their goals are undeniable: “We want to be touring as much as we can, spreading our bright music as much as we can, and going much further than the metal scene can offer us.”
After Ægo Templo‘s release, Déluge will head out on the road with label-mates Igorrr for a tour of France and Switzerland in December. See below for all dates!

As every live event in 2020, the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic hit the festival scene hard. Now, with faith and hope in live music to happen again next summer, Portugal’s ever-growing festival institution, VAGOS METAL FEST, returns with an eclectic band announcement for 2021, which will probably mark the festival’s heaviest and best line-up to date!
The festival will be taking place between July 29th – 31st 2021 in the unique surroundings of Vagos, which is close to Porto and the Atlantic Ocean. Alongside many postponed gigs from 2020 of acts alike UNLEASH THE ARCHERS, HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY, TROLLFEST, ASPHYX, HIGH FIGHTER and many more, as well as mighty new names such as MY DYING BRIDE, EXODUS or CATTLE DECAPITATION, VAGOS METAL FEST has also confirmed legendary Black Metal titans EMPEROR as headliners alongside DIMMU BORGIR and TESTAMENT!
Says Luís Salgado, organiser of VAGOS METAL FEST: “Like everyone else, we are shooting without clear sight on how next year’s going to be.The only certainty that we at Amazing Events have right now is that the Music Industry cannot stop, because that would mean an irreparable blow to our Culture, especially to our so called “underground circuit”. Although the Portuguese Government’s absolute inertia on helping out artists, venues and promoters (which could be done with a well thought financial relief plan like the one implemented in the UK), we are not giving up.
And of course, we truly hope this Covid situation is solved by the time of Vagos Metal Fest 2021,because the line-up we are setting up is too good to be postponed or cancelled.A huge “thank you” to all of the great partners that stuck with us through these dark times, especially to the city of Vagos. To all of those that are suffering the consequences of this virus, wewish you well, a speedy recovery and hope that we can all restart celebrating life among our friends, family and favourite artists, as soon as possible. ”
The current line-up for VAGOS METAL FEST 2021, with many more fantastic bands to be revealed in the weeks ahead, looks as follows:
VAGOS METAL FEST is one of the biggest and best-known festivals of its kind in Portugal, bringing heavy metal favourites to the town Vagos across four days in the middle of summer. The festival was born in 2016, and since then the organisers have consistently offered up high-energy performances from some of the scene’s heaviest hitters on a global scale, from the best and heaviest underground acts to Hammerfall, Moonspell, Satyricon, Arch Enemy, Candlemass, Soulfly, Alestorm, Jinjer or Powerwolf, to name just a few.
Let’s count the days until 2020 is over and hopefully return into a heavy and healthy, new live music year stronger than ever! Start to plan your ultimate festival trip into the sun of Portugal next summer, tickets for VAGOS METAL FEST 2021 are now available at THIS LOCATION!
