Post-rock band Jagged City, featuring Jake Woodruff (Defeater) and Carlos Torres (former touring member of Explosions In The Sky) have unveiled their new single ‘Ocean East, Ocean West’. This is the second single taken from their debut EP, There Are More of Us, Always, to be released on 30th January via Pelagic Records.

Stream here: https://orcd.co/jaggedcity

There Are More of Us, Always is a bold collection that moves between spacious, melodic guitar passages and raucous, swelling climbs. With heartfelt, melodious songwriting, a diverse range of eclectic touches buried within, and eruptions of dense, layered sound, this record delivers wonderfully balanced compositions through raw and personal production.

The project began as a cross-continental art experiment between Jake Woodruff (Defeater) and Carlos Torres (former touring member of Explosions In The Sky). What started as a simple exchange of ideas quickly found real shape through collaborative composition and thoughtful arrangement. Early sessions with David Haik helped refine the songs’ structures and drum frameworks, setting the groundwork for what would become Jagged City’s striking debut.

“We wrote with pure instinct, just tried to add something new to a genre that we love. As we traded ideas, we took some left turns and incorporated elements that may be unexpected.“ commented Woodruff.

When it came time to record, scheduling issues led to an inspired change of plans. Urian Hackney joined the project both behind the kit and behind the board, engineering and performing the drum parts that propel the record. In two intense days at The Box studio in Burlington, VT, Jake and Urian captured the core of the album with an immediacy and urgency that remain audible in every take.

Carlos recorded bass in Los Angeles alongside longtime musical colleague Michael James (Explosions In The Sky), while Jake added further guitar textures from his home studio, creating layers that thread the compositions together.

This debut is both a statement of intent and an open invitation: Jagged City offer music that rewards close listening and communal experience—an instrumental journey shaped by collaboration and a fierce commitment to feeling. While still post-rock, There Are More of Us, Always utilises a diverse range of influence, giving a freshness to each uniquely realised track.

“This record is a product of collaboration and love and creativity – we hope it inspires people to be connected and think collaboratively and creatively together. That’s the only way forward.” concludes Woodruff.

Extreme Metal Act DANIELE BRUSASCHETTO Presents ‘Choking Clouds Of Ammonia’ Music Video

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 13, 2026

Daniele Brusaschetto presents “Choking Clouds Of Ammonia,” a track that traces the tension between daily pressure, creative urgency, and the need to stay grounded. The lyrics move through anxiety, routine, and a sharp sense of self-reflection, showing music as both a release and a driving force.

The song arrives with a psychedelic live video, featuring footage captured at Club Flex in Arad, Romania. The visuals highlight the track’s uneasy, atmospheric feel, giving a vivid look at Brusaschetto’s experimental edge in a live setting.

About Daniele Brusaschetto

Since 1994, Daniele Brusaschetto has been on a continuous journey through his own world of sonic soot.
Performing as a power trio, he follows the imaginative path paved by Voivod, Godflesh, and early Mastodon—a mix of granite-heavy riffs, metal grit, no wave dissonance, and an emotional machinery waiting to be discovered beyond the wall of guitars.
In 2016, his passion for the six-string and extreme rock was reignited. “Flying Stag” (2019) marked his return to a metal–math–groove–stoner sound. In 2023, he released “Bruise A Shadow” via WormHoleDeath Records.
Now, Daniele is preparing to unveil his new full-length album, Dichotomous, which captures the natural evolution of his distinctive and uncompromising sound.

WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE to Release New EP “Veil Of Revelations” on April 9th

Worship The Sacrifice return with VEIL OF REVELATIONS, a six-track EP out April 9th, 2026, defining the band’s “melo-chaotic death metal” sound in its clearest form to date.

Leaning more heavily into melody while retaining their signature chaos, the EP balances ferocious speed, dynamic vocals, and strong melodic structure. Alongside original tracks “Evolve,” “Crystal,” “Indigo Eyes,” and “Show Them The Light,” the release features the instrumental “Behind the Veil” and a death metal reinterpretation of Arch Enemy’s “Nemesis.”

Lyrically and conceptually, VEIL OF REVELATIONS confronts illusion, manipulation, and spiritual blindness, pushing themes of perception, awakening, and self-evolution. With close to 100 UK shows since forming in 2022 and a reputation for crushingly tight, high-impact live performances, Worship The Sacrifice continue to establish themselves as a standout force in the UK underground.

VEIL OF REVELATIONS is a clear statement of what melo-chaotic death metal actually means!

Tracklist:

  1. Evolve
  2. Crystal
  3. Behind The Veil
  4. Indigo Eyes
  5. Nemesis
  6. Show Them The Light

German Filthmongers PUTRIDARIUM Premiere Upcoming “Natvm Ad Mortem” EP Ahead of Release

Mystification Zine is hosting the exclusive premiere of PUTRIDARIUM’s upcoming EP “Natvm Ad Mortem”, giving listeners an early taste of the German band’s latest descent into filth-ridden death metal. Set for release on January 16th, 2026 via Night Terrors Records, the new 7” delivers two fresh cuts of crude, swamp-soaked brutality, including “Death Metal Warriors”, which features a guest appearance by Mike Perun of CIANIDE.

Stream “Natvm Ad Mortem” at THIS LOCATION.

Tracklist:

1. Schmerzfresser
2. Death Metal Warriors (feat. Mike Perun)

Artwork and illustrations by Tomáš Mitura (Sněť)

Excavated from a German cemetery in 2021, PUTRIDARIUM have since been offering disgusting and always-evolving old-school death metal, mixed with doom and crust elements. Sexual perversions and horror gore are the thematic nail in the coffin. A combination to make you bang your head like a troglodyte.

Three demos were exhumed between ’21 and ’22, followed by a recapitulatory compilation.

Two split releases later, their debut album took form under the name “Necrología del Sadismo: Excerpts from a Deranged Mind”, released in late 2024 in alliance with Headsplit Records and Night Terrors Records.

At the end of 2025, a new EP is ready to be released through Night Terrors Records – unearthing what is merely the next step in their relentless digging for the most disgusting riffs.

Drunkard death metal maniacs beware!

Line-up:

Giona – Guitars, Bass and Vocals
Julian – Drums
Lukas – Guitars

Árpád Szenti’s MERCULISTARYA Announces Debut Album “Áradó fájdalom a tűnődés medrében”

Hungarian Black Metal one-man band MERCULISTARYA announce its debut full-length album to be released on Pest Records and Metal Ör Die Records this February 20th. Titled “Áradó fájdalom a tűnődés medrében“, this is the deeply personal and emotional work of Árpád Szenti, known from his work in bands like Thy Catafalque, Ahriman, Athame or Damnation.

“Áradó fájdalom a tűnődés medrében” is available for pre-order here: https://pestrecords.bandcamp.com/

As a taste of things to come, here’s the first single for the track “Rémálomköd” which features the guest appearance of vocalist Ivett Dudás also of Thy Catafalque fame:

“Áradó fájdalom a tűnődés medrében is a concept album, each song connected, each meaning intertwined, forming a single immersive narrative. It follows a thorn‑ridden path of struggle, fear, disappointment, madness, resignation, and death, contrasted against the vastness of nature, its elemental force, its mysticism, and the unseen dimensions that pulse beneath reality.
This album is a fragment of my soul. Through MERCULISTARYA, I unearthed emotions and energies that could not have surfaced through any other form of expression.

MERCULISTARYA is a long‑standing personal vision, a vessel through which my inner world takes musical form. Rooted in the darker currents of old‑school Black Metal, it draws from the place where the genre first spoke to me. The earliest foundations were laid in 2002, when the songs began to take shape, guided by dreams, shadows, and the subconscious landscapes that inspired both the music and the lyrics.

Despite years of obstacles, the album was first recorded in 2009 but remained unreleased as my focus shifted toward the bands in which I served as drummer (Athame, Ahriman, Sentio Ergo Sum, Damnation, Fagyhamu, Voidshrine, and Thy Catafalque). MERCULISTARYA was set aside, waiting for its moment.
In 2024, with renewed experience and a stronger technical foundation, I chose to resurrect the material and re‑record the entire work. This final version is the true realization of what the project was always meant to be.” Árpád Szenti
