MAYHEM to Release 25th Anniversary Edition of “Grand Declaration of War” on December 5th

No band embodies the spirit of black metal like Mayhem. In the wake of violence and scandal, the Norwegians set the standard for the genre with their canonical 1994 debut. Other influential acts were quick to follow in their footsteps, but these iconoclasts defied convention by making a truly bold statement on Grand Declaration of War.

“This record means a lot”, its chief sonic architect Blasphemer told Outburn during a recent retrospective on the band’s long since debated second album. “It built a foundation, not only for me personally, but it also built a new foundation for Mayhem”.

Today, Season of Mist is celebrating the album’s 25th anniversary with a special edition of Grand Declaration of War. Along with the original master, this sunburst colored gatefold LP includes new silver hot foil packaging, a double-sided poster and an embroidered leather patch.

“For Season of Mist, there was a before and an after Grand Declaration of War“, says the label’s founder and manager Michael Berberian. “This is probably the first true classic album we ever released, the one that put us on the map. And what an album. Talk about unexpected. Talk about daring”.

The 25th Anniversary Edition of Grand Declaration of War comes out December 5th on Season of Mist. Pre-order here.

On Grand Declaration of War, Mayhem continued to bow down for no one – even themselves.  The band were coldblooded as ever on merciless cuts like “A Time to Die”, but their arsenal of blast beats and tremolo picking was strengthened by an increase in command. Written in collaboration between newly appointed guitarist Blasphemer and vocalist Maniac, the album didn’t expand so much as it invaded territory that was then believed off-limits: spoken word (“View from Nihil”), trip-hop (“A Bloodsword and a Colder Sun”), soundscapes of doom (“Completion in Science of Agony”).

No matter how they choose to impose their will, after 25 years of Grand Declaration of War, there’s still nowhere that Mayhem fear to tread.

2. In the Lies Where upon You Lay (5:57)

7. A Bloodsword and a Colder Sun (Part II of II) (4:27)

9. Completion in Science of Agony (Part I of II) (9:44)

Founded as early as 1984 in Oslo, Norway by the late and legendary frontman Øystein Aarseth aka Euronymous, bassist Jørn “Necrobutcher” Stubberud, and Kjetil “Manheim” Haraldsson on drums, Mayhem took its name from the VENOM song “Mayhem with Mercy”. Continuing and renewing the Black Metal style heralded by the latter English trio, the band soon became the instigators of the so called second wave and were at the heart of every controversy surrounding that genre.

The suicide of misanthropic frontman Per Yngve “Dead” Ohlin, the murder of Euronymous by guest bass player “Count Grishnakh” alias the notorious Varg Vikernes, church burnings, drugs and prison sentences – Mayhem were always at the center of the storm. Yet not even death could stop the Norwegians, who released one musical milestone after another.

The incredible rawness of the Deathcrush EP (1987) was followed by the still iconic and genre-defining De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994), which featured devilish drummer Jan Axel “Hellhammer” Blomberg, who had joined in 1988. The vocalist on this album was the Hungarian Attila Csihar of Tormentor fame, who returned later in 2004 to take over from his meantime heir, the enigmatic original singer Sven-Erik “Maniac” Kristiansen. The latter was featured on the Wolf’s Lair Abyss EP (1997), which was written mostly by highly talented guitarist Rune “Blasphemer” Eriksen, who scored a massive artistic success with the highly controversial Grand Declaration Of War (2000).

BLOODBOUND Unveil Second Single + Video ‘As Empires Fall’ from Upcoming Album

Swedish powerhouse BLOODBOUND release the second single from their upcoming album, Field Of Swords, out November 21st, 2025 via Napalm Records. “As Empires Fall” has them march east side by side with the crusaders, accompanied by their signature sound. Explosive keys and pattering drums guide the way through an epic blend of melodic heaviness and power metal, shaping another glorious victory for BLOODBOUND.

Recently teaming up with Napalm Records, BLOODBOUND stand taller than ever on the front line of epic power metal, delivering their most modern work yet. Most recently drawn to the Viking era, the latest concept album Field Of Swords turns the page to another chapter in history, moving past the year 1066 and into the Middle Ages. As warfare evolves and the significance of forging iron with carbon leads to superior swordsmen, the bloodstained battlefields show new, grim faces, leaving room for more of BLOODBOUND’s vivid storytelling that continues to thrill audiences at countless live shows around the globe.

Fredrik Bergh about “As Empires Fall”:
“This song originally came from Patrik Selleby. He had most of the song written except for the chorus. I had a bombastic chorus in the same tempo, and when we added that, it was a great fit. Patrik sings like a god on this one and the band is firing on all cylinders. One of my favourite tracks on the album.”

Tomas Olsson about “As Empires Fall”:
“‘As Empires Fall’ is telling the story about how the Crusades started when the Byzantine Empire called for aid because of the growing threat in the east.”

BLOODBOUND’s latest triumphant march impressively illustrates the importance of purpose and perseverance with heroic tales in shining heavy metal armor. Valiant, vigorous, and ultimately victorious: Field Of Swords has come to expand BLOODBOUND’s domination of the scene!

Fredrik Bergh on Field Of Swords:
“Field Of Swords is a concept album, a continuation from our last album Tales From The North (2023) which touched upon the subject of the Viking era. On Field Of Swords, we have moved on in history and entered the Middle Ages (after 1066). The concept, in short, is the following: When the Viking Age ended in the year of our Lord 1066, came the long and grim Medieval times.
We are extremely excited about the new album and to release it with the backing of the mighty Napalm Records. Music-wise, the new album has a slightly more modern sound, but we can guarantee it includes all the elements BLOODBOUND is known for! It’s a diverse record with aggressive songs, epic tracks, and it also contains some of the fastest parts we have written. And on the other hand, we have some slower, majestic songs as well, like, ‘The Nine Crusades’ where UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ Brittney Slayes duets with Patrik. Field Of Swords has everything you can ask for!”

Get Your Copy Of Field Of Swords NOW

BLOODBOUND’s first release with Napalm Records adds another 11 captivating battle hymns to their repertoire. A diverse record with aggressive songs and epic tracks alike, their eleventh album also contains some of the band’s fastest material ever written. The opening title track, “Field Of Swords”, immediately storms into BLOODBOUND’s signature sound, braiding stories of glory with a sweeping blend of melodic and heavy power metal. The dominant “As Empires Fall” follows the crusaders east and powerfully depicts said glory in epic battle in contrast with sacrifices made on the way. “Defenders Of Jerusalem” cleverly expands on the topic of loss, leaving listeners to wonder which side is holding their heads up high in the face of imminent defeat. Catchy flutes have the heroes take heart in “The Code Of Warriors” to guide them into the “Land Of The Brave” and Field Of Swords to new heights at the same time. “Light In The Sky” further illustrates BLOODBOUND’s battle scars turned electrifying sound, while the mature “Teutonic Knights” opens up the bleak reality of the tragedy that undoubtedly accompanies this battle-torn era of history. Yet, “Forged In Iron”, “Pain and Glory”, and “Born to be King” hold their ground as equally unforgettable tunes, all leading up to the brilliant finale: Brittney Slayes of powerhouse Canadian band UNLEASH THE ARCHERS joins “The Nine Crusades” as another valuable fighter to lead Field Of Swords to greatness.

Field Of Swords tracklisting:

  1. Field of Swords
  2. As Empires Fall
  3. Defenders of Jerusalem
  4. The Code of Warriors
  5. Land of the Brave
  6. Light the Sky
  7. Teutonic Knights
  8. Forged in Iron

LAMB OF GOD Return with New Single/Video ‘Sepsis’ + Sign with Century Media

Lamb of God return with their new single “Sepsis”, a visceral, menacing new single out now via Century Media Records / Epic Records (US/CAN), marking the GRAMMY® Award-nominated band’s first new original music since 2022’s critically revered album, Omens.

Produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur, the three-and-a-half-minute track arrives alongside a grainy, lo-fi performance video that offers a moody, unfiltered look at Richmond’s underbelly. Directed by Gianfranco Svagelj, the video captures the song’s slow-burning tension.

“’Sepsis’ is a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn the Priest,” Mark Morton shares. “Bands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger—though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time. The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.”

“Sepsis” arrives during a milestone year for Lamb of God. In 2025, the band celebrated the 25th anniversary of their discography, performed at the historic “Back to the Beginning” concert and subsequently released their thunderous take on Black Sabbath’s “Children of the Grave,” along with appearances at several festivals including Inkcarceration and Louder Than Life, and a headlining show at Richmond’s new 7500-seat outdoor venue, Allianz Amphitheater, during its opening season.

In addition, the band has signed a worldwide deal (excl. US/CAN) with Century Media Records. Dennis Moll, Head of A&R at Century Media Records, says about the signing:

“We are beyond thrilled to welcome Lamb of God — one of the most iconic and influential bands in heavy music — to the Century Media Records family.
Their recent appearance at Ozzy Osbourne’s historic final show in Birmingham, along with their striking cover of Black Sabbath’s Children of the Grave, once again underlines their timeless importance and creative power within the scene. We are grateful for the trust the band and their team have placed in us, and we look forward to building an incredible new chapter together.”

As the year closes, Lamb of God have several performances ahead of them, including outings at Aftershock, AMMA Championship Fest, and the band’s Headbangers Boat cruise (Oct. 31 to Nov. 4) – a four-day floating festival departing from Miami with a stop in Cozumel, Mexico. The line-up features performances from Clutch, Kublai Khan TX, Power Trip, Obituary, Devil Driver, Fear Factory, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Exploited, Crowbar, Nekrogoblikon, Eighteen Visions, Gideon, Walls of Jericho, Category 7, Brat, comics Josh Potter and Saul Trujillo, with appearances from Jose Mangin and Riki Rachtman. Tickets are available at Headbangersboat.com.

Lamb of God upcoming tour dates:

October 18 Canton, OH Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium
October 31 – November 4 Miami, FL Headbangers Boat
November 6 Monterrey, MX Showcenter Complex
July 27 – 31 Râşnov, RO Rockstadt Extreme Fest
August 1 Wacken, DE Wacken Open Air 2026
August 7 Walton-on-Trent, UK Bloodstock Open Air 2026
August 12 – 16 Dinkelsbühl, DE Summer Breeze
August 13 – 15 Sulingen, DE Reload Festival
August 14 – 16 Eindhoven, NL Dynamo Metalfest

Tickets for all shows are available now via Lamb of God’s website.

Lamb of God is Randy Blythe (vocals), John Campbell (bass), Mark Morton (guitar), Willie Adler (guitar) and Art Cruz (drums). Formed in 1994, the Richmond, Va.-based band has released nine critically-acclaimed albums, received five GRAMMY® Award nominations, sold over 3 million albums, packed arenas around the world, and tallied over one billion streams and counting. Widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative forces in modern heavy music Lamb of God’s most recent collection, Omens, arrived in late 2022 , marking their sixth consecutive album to debut in the Top 15 of on the Billboard 200. Kerrang! notied that the album finds the band “as reliably heavy, violent, and pissed off as ever,” and Consequence said the “album will break you down to nihilistic pieces.”

ORBIT CULTURE Release New Video ‘Bloodhound’ from New Album

Right before their acclaimed and awaited new album, “Death Above Life”, Sweden’s ORBIT CULTURE are releasing “Bloodhound”.

Watch the nightmarish, horror movie influenced video by their longtime partners Riivata Visuals, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPTAlZOH0jU

The band comments: “’Bloodhound’ is probably the angriest song we’ve written to date. We’ve always been somewhat reluctant to use explicit language in our music — maybe out of habit, maybe out of respect, I honestly don’t know. But when that opening riff came to life, it just had this raw, primal energy that demanded something more. The song sounded furious from the start, and to match that intensity, we knew it was time to break our own rules and let the anger speak freely.

The lyrics came together faster than almost anything we’ve done before. It was like this outburst — a childlike hammering of aggression onto the page. Usually, we try to keep ourselves in check, to polish things a bit. But this track is the 1% of the time where we didn’t. Where we couldn’t.

‘Bloodhound’ is about anger — at people, at situations, at an industry that often exploits the very people trying to make it within it. It’s about the cycle of revenge, the moments of acceptance, and then the anger flaring up again because nothing really changes. This song is about reclaiming your voice, your power, your worth. It’s about calling out the bloodsuckers, the manipulators — and making sure they don’t get to take from you anymore.”

“Death Above Life” was released on October 3rd, 2025. ”The album represents change, a new beginning,” says guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Niklas Karlsson. “It brings up a lot of good and bad emotions but it’s a big change for the better. It feels like a rebirth.”

The track listing for “Death Above Life” reads as follows:

  1. Inferna
  2. Bloodhound
  3. Inside The Waves
  4. The Tales Of War
  5. Hydra
  6. Nerve
  7. Death Above Life
  8. The Storm
  9. Neural Collapse
  10. The Path I Walk

“The Tales of War”: https://youtu.be/Y5SpGQMoaUU

Hailing from the small town of Eksjö, Sweden (located between the revered metal cities of Gothenburg and Stockholm), the quartet (guitarist and vocalist Niklas Karlsson, guitarist Richard Hansson, bassist Fredrik Lennartsson and drummer Christopher Wallerstedt) have grown into a global force, melding together riffs that are equal parts thrash, death metal and industrial with arresting hooks and a layered atmosphere that invites comparison to Gojira, Metallica and Static-X while carving out something that is uniquely their own.

ORBIT CULTURE’s 2023 album, “Descent” and its subsequent EP release, “The Forgotten” topped many year-end lists in 2023 including Metal Hammer who described the album as: “a formidable entwining of modern metal’s most effective and exciting strands into an impressive milestone.” Exhaustive worldwide touring and a steady stream of crowd-pummeling festival slots across the globe have set the stage for something much larger.

ORBIT CULTURE is a band poised. They are the sound of metal in the most modern sense.

DHRAMA GUNS Floor the Gas Pedal with New Single & Video ‘King of Action Rock’, New Album + UK Tour Coming Next Spring

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 15, 2025

Finnish dandy punks Dharma Guns return to the release front with a brand-new hard-hitting single, “King of Action Rock.” The track is the first single from their second album, due out in spring 2026. The band also shot a video for the track, donning their turn-of-the-millennium uniforms once again. The video premiered yesterday on website of the legendary British rock bible Vive Le Rock.

Short, sharp, and unapologetically tongue-in-cheek, “King of Action Rock” races through its sub-two-minute runtime at blistering speed. With a juicy chromatic guitar riff and lyrics that celebrate the irresistible power of action rock, the track captures both the familiar energy and fresh edge of Dharma Guns.

King of Action Rock single: Spotify – Apple Music – Deezer

(The King of Action Rock video, as usual, was shot, edited, and directed by drummer Olli Vartiainen.)

Alongside the new album, Dharma Guns will hit the road again. Their spring release tour will take them all the way to the UK, with dates from Scotland down to London. The band will share the stage with British glam-punk cult hero Steve Vincent (Paradise Alley) for six shows in Finland and UK.

True to their fast-moving career, Dharma Guns haven’t rested on their laurels since releasing their debut album Ex-Generation Superstars just last November.

“We figured the first single should be like a kick in the crotch. With the second one, we can think about shades and nuances—provided the listener has gotten back on their feet,” laughs singer-guitarist Pete.

“Last winter our guitarist Jussi was listening to the Norwegian band The Good The Bad And The Zugly and dreamed of a wah-wah guitar solo. So we gave him a slot to play wah. We tipped our hats to those Norwegian action rockers and crowned ourselves kings,” Pete recalls about the song’s creation.

According to the band, the lyrical world of the upcoming record is darker than on the debut. And while the music is composed with the same palette as before, the color scheme has taken on new, deeper shades.

“Songs are always kind of documents of their time, and this one is a statement too: if the king of action rock ruled the world, the world would be a far more glorious place,” Pete muses.

Dharma Guns Tour 2026:

30.4 – On the Rocks, Helsinki (FI) w/ Steve Vincent + Plastic Tears
1.5 – Nirvana, Turku (FI) w/ Steve Vincent + support TBA FB event
21.5 – Bannerman’s, Edinburgh (UK) w/ Steve Vincent
22.5 – Trillians, Newcastle (UK) w/ Steve Vincent
23.5 – Gifford Arms, Wolverhampton (UK) w/ Steve Vincent
24.5 – Hope & Anchor, London (UK) w/ Steve Vincent

MENTAL CRUELTY Unleash Hard-Hitting New Single ‘Helheim’, Ft. SIGNS OF THE SWARM

MENTAL CRUELTY unleash their hard-hitting new single “HELMHEIM”, featuring David Simonich from Signs of the Swarm. The track expands the band’s journey from crushing deathcore roots into darker, melodic and blackened territories, while still delivering the sheer brutality fans expect. Starting tomorrow, the band will hit the road for their North American tour. Don’t miss it – watch the official video and stream “HELHEIM” now on all platforms.

MENTAL CRUELTY about the new single: “‘HELHEIM’ is another stepping stone on our way from slamming deathcore to more melodic, blackened metal. ‘ZWIELICHT’ was our way to transition from deathcore to a sound focused on our blackened side, as well as traditionally ‘metal’ influences and even folk. This song dips another toe on there, with the inclusion of a stringed Scandinavian instrument called talharpa. The boys actually needed to learn that new instrument to record in the studio! Of course we wanted to keep some deathcore in there, so for the breakdown we invited our friend David Simonich of Signs of the Swarm, with whom we start a crushing North America tour tomorrow. It’s appropriately brutal for a song written about the realm for Vikings who didn’t quite make it to Valhalla, an afterlife for the disgraced.”

After wrapping up a highly successful European run alongside Cradle of Filth and Butcher Babies in late 2024, MENTAL CRUELTY are set to return to the road in 2025 and 2026 with extensive US and EU tours!

On October 2nd, the band will embarked on a massive North American tour together with Signs of The Swarm, ten56., Carcosa and Face Yourself, hitting 28 major cities across the United States and Canada throughout October and November, with 3 sell outs before day 1 and many more imminent with low ticket warnings. In spring 2026, the band will continue their relentless live assault in Europe, joining forces with Kanonenfieber for a run that takes them through Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Germany and more.
