WINDSWEPT Announce Concept Album “The Devil’s Vertep”, Out December 12th

In 2017, Roman Sayenko of Drudkh started a new band built on raw black metal. Now, Windswept are casting a cold spell over a dark moment in Ukrainian history on their upcoming third full-length.

Today, Windswept are announcing their new album The Devil’s Vertep with its lead single “Investigation”. Inspired by The Black Book of Kremenets Castle, the album reconstructs the witch trials in Western Ukraine that took place from 1753 to 1754 across six stark and visceral songs. “Investigation” marks the turning point on this timeline, where accusations harden into judgement.

Listen to “Investigation”:

The Devil’s Vertep comes out December 12 on Season of Mist Underground Activists. Pre-order & Pre-save: https://orcd.co/windsweptthedevilsvertep

Drawing from the first interrogation of Yevka Stanorykha, “Investigation” mirrors the tension between truth and torment. Jagged guitars, volatile tempo shifts and Roman Sayenko’s rasp recreate the psychological pressure of a 1754 courtroom. Each cycle becomes a reenactment of interrogation itself: repetition, denial and the slow dissolution of will.

Tracklist:

  1. Infanticide (6:10)
  2. Investigation (7:18)
  3. Torture & Confession (8:38)
  4. The Potion (6:58)
  5. Nest of the Witches (4:57)
  6. Verdicts (7:54)
    Full runtime: 42:09

WINDSWEPT return with The Devil’s Vertep, a new full-length rooted in historical documentation and stark musical expression. Inspired by The Black Book of Kremenets Castle 1747–1777, the record traces the witch trials of 1753–1754 in Western Ukraine, unfolding as a conceptual narrative across six compositions. Each track immerses listeners in a chilling atmosphere of accusation, confession, and execution, rendered through raw black metal shaped by both immediacy and conviction.

The project was founded in 2016 by Roman Sayenko, best known as the driving force behind Drudkh, alongside two close collaborators. Conceived as a space for spontaneity and instinctive creation, Windswept sought to capture black metal in its most unfiltered form. Sessions were approached with minimal preparation, often recorded in only a matter of days, ensuring the vitality of live performance informed every moment. While echoes of Sayenko’s other work could be felt, Windswept’s essence lay in improvisation and a raw fidelity to the Ukrainian black metal tradition.

Their debut, The Great Cold Steppe (2017), was stark and unforgiving, reflecting the desolate landscape of its title. The record quickly distinguished itself for its icy atmospheres and direct execution, a distillation of black metal at its harshest. This was followed in 2018 by the Visionaire EP on Ván Records, which deepened their exploration of fleeting, improvisatory intensity. A year later, The Onlooker (2019, Season of Mist: Underground Activists) reaffirmed the band’s commitment to spontaneity. It offered a fierce, stripped-down sound that echoed early traditions while maintaining Windswept’s hallmark rawness.

With The Devil’s Vertep, Windswept turn toward historical narrative. Drawing on trial records preserved in the Black Book of Kremenets Castle, the album reconstructs testimonies of women accused of witchcraft, their brutal interrogations, and the violent judgments passed upon them. Each piece is tied to a specific chapter: “Infanticide” opens with the grim discovery of a newborn’s corpse, “Investigation” and “Torture & Confession” trace the harrowing interrogations, while “The Potion,” “Nest of the Witches,” and “Verdicts” reveal the network of accusations and the sentences delivered.

While The Devil’s Vertep marks Windswept’s first venture into Ukrainian demonology and witchcraft, these themes trace back much earlier in Roman Sayenko’s creative path. In the autumn of 1996, Sayenko began developing an unfinished project titled KOZLONOGYI (Goat-Footed):  a concept rooted in the same folkloric and mythological territory that would later resurface within The Devil’s Vertep. Although KOZLONOGYI never moved beyond a few rehearsals, its sketches and early riffs became the foundation for Windswept’s latest work. By reviving and re-working these ideas nearly three decades later, Sayenko bridges eras of black metal evolution, imbuing The Devil’s Vertep with a distinctly 1990s sensibility and reverence for the early traditions that shaped his artistic identity.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Viter Music with production handled internally, The Devil’s Vertep balances immediacy with conceptual cohesion. Its stark presentation reflects the gravity of the source material, while the cover art by Obsidian Bone situates the work in a visual landscape as unsettling as the music itself. By channelling the voices of the past, Windswept expand their raw black metal vision into a work of historical remembrance, turning archival fragments into a haunting artistic statement.

The Australian rocker Cassidy Paris unveils today her new single and official video, “Nothing Left To Lose”, taken from her highly anticipated sophomore album, “Bittersweet”, scheduled for November 21, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.

Cassidy Paris is also thrilled to share that she will be returning to the UK in May next year, for the “Finish What We Started” headlining tour, starting on May 13th in Hastings, and wrapping up on May 24th in Newcastle.

If you want to get your ticket before anyone else, you can access the exclusive pre-sale by pre-ordering “Bittersweet” now at https://frontiers-uk.shop/collections/cassidy-paris

Everyone who pre-orders “Bittersweet” from the Frontiers UK store by 6.00pm on Thursday (and anyone who has already ordered a copy from the webstore) will be sent a pre-sale link via email this Friday at 10am.

Talking about her new single, Cassidy said: “I instantly connected to ‘Nothing Left To Lose’ as it represents times when you feel so alone and in pain. You feel like no one is listening or really understands what you’ve been through. It’s when people twist things and lie to try and paint a picture that is fabricated. They manipulate others to suit their own agenda, making you feel like you’re going crazy. ‘Nothing Left To Lose’ is one of my favourite tracks off ‘Bittersweet’ and I can’t wait to see what you think”.

Pre-Order “Bittersweet” HERE

Known for her distinctive blend of ‘80s-inspired rock attitude with a modern twist, Cassidy Paris is stepping confidently into her own identity as an artist with “Bittersweet”, the powerful follow-up to her acclaimed 2023 debut album “New Sensation”.

“My debut album was ‘80s infused with a current vibe”, Cassidy explained. “With Bittersweet, I’m stepping even more into who I am as an artist – influenced by icons like Debbie Harry, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, and Lita Ford, but always with my own spin on things”.

“This is the most honest and raw I’ve ever been with songs. This record feels like it’s a part of me. Like reading a diary of my life over the past couple of years. Releasing this is both so exciting and equally emotional because, when I started, I had no idea of the journey I would go on personally in my life”, she added. “It makes me beam with happiness that these songs are yours now. This record is love, strength and immense heartbreak. It’s emotions on a level I didn’t even know existed prior to this season of life. It truly lives up to its name in its entirety. I hope you to love it as much as I did creating it”.

Featuring songwriting contributions from Paul Laine and Steve Brown, “Bittersweet” showcases Cassidy’s growth not just as a performer but as a songwriter with a message. Lyrically honest and emotionally charged, the album balances hook-filled anthems with heartfelt ballads, capturing both vulnerability and strength.

Cassidy continues to stand out as a passionate voice in modern rock, not only for her music but for her advocacy. A strong supporter of Metalheads Against Bullying, she regularly performs in schools around Melbourne, using her platform to inspire resilience and authenticity in young fans.

As a teenager growing up in Australia, there’s likely very few others out there with ambitions of being a “rock star”. Especially considering rock music isn’t exactly regarded by the mainstream as the “coolest” thing in the 2020’s.

However, Cassidy Paris is an exception, determined to make rock music a ‘cool’ thing again and inspire a new generation of younger fans to not only listen to rock ‘n’ roll, but maybe even pick up a guitar, instead of a phone.

At the age of 11, Cassidy met singer songwriter Paul Laine (ex Danger Danger, The Defiants), who developed a unique mentoring role. Paul took Cassidy under his wing to help develop her as an artist and songwriter, collaborating with her in songwriting and producing her music.

From early on, Cassidy has wanted to deliver a strong message through her music. In 2018, she released the song “Stand”, a heartfelt song about ‘standing up for yourself’ as a young woman.

Having already performed in the USA, UK, and Japan, Cassidy’s global fanbase continues to grow rapidly. Despite the postponement of some European dates due to personal circumstances, she is planning to return stronger than ever with new shows in the UK and Ireland.

With “Bittersweet”, Cassidy Paris reaffirms her position as one of rock’s most exciting young talents – bringing heart, power, and purpose to every note.

Cassidy is endorsed by Fender Guitars, Ernie Ball & Wornstar Clothing.

THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE was forged in 2010. Within a year, they were touring regularly and had self-released their debut album, Know Your Exits. By 2013, independent metal label Density Records unleashed their second album, Invivo [Exvivo]. Further touring ensued with the likes of I Declare War, Fit For An Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder, and Kublai Khan. The prolific act would go on to release five more full-lengths, each earning Billboard chart placements and reaping critical accolades both stateside and abroad. Of the band’s most recent output, 2024’s No Name Graves (Unique Leader Records), Knotfest wrote, “THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE are reasserting their position as innovators and leaders in the deathcore genre. Their approach to music is not just about creating sound but about crafting an experience that challenges and captivates their audience.” New Transcendence concurred, “With moments defined by a low, moody atmosphere carefully peppered with punishing aggression and moments that are outright raunchy, ruthless oblivion, No Name Graves is a cinematic, crushing experience that redefines THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE, making it clear that lightning can strike the same place (or same band) twice.” Added No Clean Singing, “At its gnarliest and nastiest – as epitomised by the likes of the brutish, bone-grinding title-track and the apocalyptically heavy ‘Broken Glass Incantation’ – there’s a there’s a primal intensity and potent, primitive nihilism to these tracks which recalls the likes of Black Tongue, latter-day Acranius, and even the more post-deathcore leaning approach of Humanity’s Last Breath, but stripped down even further until only the barest and most unforgiving essentials remain.”

ANANDA MIDA Announce European Tour Dates & 10th Anniversary Concert

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 14, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Ananda Mida. Leave a comment

ANANDA MIDA are proud to announce the celebration of their tenth anniversary. On Friday, December 5, 2025, the Italian psychedelic rock collective will mark this milestone with a unique and memorable concert at Astro Club in Fontanafredda, Italy. The event will feature not only the current lineup, but also a number of musicians who have contributed to the band’s ever-evolving sound over the years.

From its inception, ANANDA MIDA was conceived as an open musical project—an ensemble that grows, transforms, and adapts to the shifting rhythms of life. Built on this fluid foundation, the group has crafted a trilogy of concept albums inspired by G. I. Gurdjieff’s philosophical work Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson. These albums were recorded with the support of a wide array of musicians and released via the renowned Italian label Go Down Records.

This spirit of collaboration has defined the band’s live presence as well, leading to the creation of sixteen different live set-ups, many of which will be showcased during the anniversary concert in a dynamic and immersive performance.

In 2024, ANANDA MIDA partnered with Heavy Psych Sounds Records to release Live at Duna Jam, an album that captured the essence of the project and served as a fitting conclusion to the band’s first decade.

Looking ahead, ANANDA MIDA are currently writing new material and preparing for a series of live dates across Europe this fall, including their anniversary show. The tour will bring their distinctive blend of heavy psychedelia to the following cities:

European Tour Dates 2025:
24 Oct. – Dresden, GER – Heavy Psych Sounds Fest @ Chemiefabrik
25 Oct. – Berlin, GER – Heavy Psych Sounds Fest @ Urban Spree
01 Nov. – London, UK – Heavy Psych Sounds Fest @ Hackney Bridge
05 Dec. – Fontanafredda, IT – Astro Club (10th Anniversary Show)
06 Dec. – St. Julian’s, MALTA – Tigullio

SNOWY SHAW & MAGNUS DAUN Launch “GOD” Project

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 14, 2025

Multi Instrumentalist SNOWY SHAW teams up with MAGNUS DAUN (Mad Architect) to form new project “GOD”, and offers a “self interview” to best describe the new project!

GOD: Official release on all streaming platforms: Friday 17th October.

Preview Trailer:

Snowy interviews himself!… Taking the concept of the split personality between whom an artist is on and off stage, or in and out of the studio to another level, Snowy Shaw has provided the following “self interview” to best describe the new project, which is available on all streaming platforms this Friday the 17th October.

“GOD” by Magnus Daun & Snowy Shaw.

What can be said about this debuting new release?

“If you like real heavy kick ass rock n’ roll or just love brutal fucking true metal that makes you wanna bang your head bloody against a brick wall. – Well, then I suspect this kind of music might not be for you.

OK, nicely put. So what the hell is this thing then. Emo, Indie-pop, Skate-Punk or what?

No, well this dark, cinematic and epic filmscore music project is not so much a band as a collaboration between two individual composers & musicians. For lack of better comparison, imagine if Danny Elfman and Ennio Morricone would team up to create grand dramatic music for a big Hollywood movie, that never existed,.. yet! Something like that, although I’m certainly not saying we’re in the same league as these masters but instead of coming up with yet another band name or do another Mad Architect album we opted to approach this new concept a little differently and use our own names with highlighted focus on the song title and concept at hand, meanwhile us the creators are subordinated.

Mad Architect? please tell me a little more about that band.

Yeah, well me and Magnus have a recorded history under the moniker of Mad Architect, with whom we put out 2 albums some odd 10 years ago. From the get go it was always more of a studio project, than a live act from when I was first contacted via email to do guest vocals on one single track, which I agreed to. Then later came the request to do yet another song, which I thought a bit strange but as it turned out, they had no singer and there was no “they” at all. In reality it was just Magnus hiring people to record his songs, more or less. And I ended up doing all the vocals. The first album recording took place around the time I was out touring the world with Sabaton during 2012-2013 and I tracked the vocals either in my own home studio whenever I had a short break in touring or in the tourbus or backstage somewhere with my laptop, a microphone and a simple recording device. Modern technology is pretty fantastic isn’t it? Pretty damn bizarre actually. So it was a rather strange birth one might say. As a matter of fact I had never met or even talked to the guy (Magnus) over the phone until after the first album had been out for months. Take into consideration that this although we both live in the same city (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Hahaha! That’s hilarious!  And that’s when you decided to team up?

Like I said, it wasn’t so much of a band as Magnus´solo album with the difference that, especially on the second album I ended up doing about 95% of all the work. This because all the other musicians had somehow dropped off once the debut was released, and neither him nor I managed to find proper replacements for each position respectively based on his so-called demos, of chorus drenched incoherent instrumental guitar backgrounds. So in the end I figured the only way to make this project to work at all, is if I take charge of the situation and handle the rest of the instruments. Really insane when you think about it. Allow me to be a little witty here, Magnus sure is the “Mad Architect”.

If what you’re saying is correct then it’s more like your solo album isn’t it?

Naw, in a way I guess you could say that it was but that’s not the point and I don’t wanna take credit for it because I was hired to do a job and I did my very best and all in my power to make this thing fly and live up to my quality standards given what I had to work with. We’re talking writing, arranging, producing, recording, mixing, designing, promoting etc. And that on top of all vocals and playing the drums and bass etc. Magnus is a great guy and I don’t wanna make it sound like he’s totally incompetent or anything. I saw a guy whose dream & ambition was to make his own music & band although at the time….he didn’t necessarily possess the right kind of skills, competence nor experience required to do so. Very much like myself in my younger days, so I could relate and felt compassionate for him. However, what matters is that I was able to fill in the gaps and help out fulfilling his dream, and I was happy to oblige. (and of course be richly compensated for my work.)

Nice of you to help out this young kid though

I never said he was young. He’s 3 years older than me I think.

Anyway, if you’d ask me if I would willingly do it all again under those circumstances and conditions the answer would be a loud and definitive No, not in this lifetime. Which is also why it has taken over 10 years. Whenever approached I have repeatedly explained to Magnus that I was super adamant towards the whole idea and that I simply can’t nor won’t work or operate under such conditions again. I don’t really wanna use the derogatory phrase “You can’t polish turds” but then again I can’t think of a better more suitable term. If it’s ever gonna happen it has to be under the right circumstances.

So how did this new thing come about then, what made you change your mind?

He learned his lesson and got his shit together, let’s say. Earlier this year Magnus released short pieces of new atmospheric instrumental music under his own name which I thought was a 100 times better than anything I had previously heard from him, and I was really impressed and uttered – Wow! Now we’re talking! This I really, really like. This has harmonic substance and something to build on with a distinct theme which offers tons more possibilities.

Truth be told, I applaud him for having really have made a quantum leap in improvement over the decade that has now passed. I’m mighty impressed with his newfound technical skills and understanding. I dare say that the biggest difference was that now he had composed it all using keyboards with great sounds which was a huge improvement as opposed to all the generic guitar riffing and directionless set of chords that he used to present in the past.

This was more bombastic symphonic filmscore music, just the way that I love it and I immediately got all these images in my head and envisioned how we could arrange it with voices and menacing dark narration, chimes, marching snares, strings, heavy downtuned distorded bass and shit. And I also added heavy mean guitars to the mix for effect, and personally I think it turned out fantastic.

Maybe it’s just me who’ve been doing this for too long and have become jaded and disillusioned but to be perfectly honest with you, I haven’t been inspired or influenced by metal or rock bands since I was a teenager. More than anything I’m drawn towards composers like John Barry (James Bond)  Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, Vangelis among others. I’m not an adept consumer but that’s the kind of music that triggers me, and over the years I’ve often found out in retrospect that ‘s the kind of music that subconsciuosly influenced me.

So is this a one off thing or can we expect a full length album any time soon?

Hell yeah! We just signed a massive 4 album recording deal with Universal Studios worldwide.

By mid November we’ll be recording our new material with New York philharmonic orchestra for an upcoming 2026 blockbuster Hollywood movie and,… No, I’m just kiddin’, obviously.

First of all, it’s 2025 and the album format is obsolete and dead for starters, not just physical but overall, which is deeply tragic and immensely sad I think. The world in general is fucked, and not just the music industry and the movie industry but every-fucking-thing that we know of and everything that we all grew up loving is all dead and gone. But yes, let’s try to be a little positive here shall we. We’ll surely be putting out more new music. When and if we feel like it. That’s really all that matters at the end of the day, isn’t it?
