Instrumental post-metal outfit THREESTEPSTOTHEOCEAN has released their new studio album “Death of Permanence”, which is out today via Subsound Records.
“Death of Permanence” marks the return of the Italian four-piece, six years on from their last studio record. The new album stretches and deepens the band’s sonic reach, drawing on influences that extend well beyond the purely musical – while holding firm to a sound identity shaped across two decades of activity. At the same time, it enacts a deliberate, gradual shedding of what came before: not nostalgia, not repetition, but an unrelenting forward motion.
The record is rooted in the idea that much of what we consider stable or permanent is bound to shift, dissolve, or disappear – places, beliefs, relationships, the worlds we build around ourselves. The album observes this process with open eyes, accepting change as an inevitable part of human experience. It is, unmistakably, a rite of passage – toward a direction still unwritten, only partially legible, yet one whose emotional and existential toll runs deep beneath the surface.
Throughout this process of transformation, the band steps away from pure instrumentalism on multiple occasions, reaching outward through collaboration – a lived expression of a DIY ethic grounded in exchange and human connection. The record features the voice of sardinian performer Dalila Kayros, songwriter Conny Ochs, a vocal sample from Larry Stromberg, and the instrumental orchestrations of Moonlit.
“Death of Permanence” was recorded and mixed by Stefano Santi at SPVN Studio in February and March 2026, with additional recording by Francesco Tosi. Mastering was handled by Giovanni Versari at La Maestà Mastering. The cover features Alexander Krack’s photograph “The Treatment”, with artwork and design by Riccardo Giacomin.

Canadian modern metal band OSYRON presents their new single offering, “Telos.” The track lands ahead of the self-titled, full length album, Osyron, scheduled for release on November 27, 2026, via Distortion Music Group (DMG) – Powered by Reigning Phoenix Music.
On “Telos” OSYRON comment, “‘Telos’ is about recognizing that we’ve allowed external forces (society, institutions, manipulation, addiction, and manufactured desire) to dictate the course of our lives. After losing ourselves in those systems, we recognize the cyclical trap we find ourselves in and decide to reclaim our identity, agency, pride, and ultimately our own purpose. Not only is “Telos” the opener of the forthcoming full length, it embodies the core ideas that run through Osyron‘s track list. Telos is the Greek concept of an ultimate purpose or end goal. In this song, and across the album, OSYRON examine what happens when identity and purpose are challenged, imposed upon or even stripped away – and what it takes to reclaim them. Juxtaposing ferociously rhythmic passages with powerful melodic intensity, “Telos” balances light and shade throughout the relentless musical arrangement.

Greg Fraser talks about what was behind the song “Anti Social Media”, “When I write songs, I usually have so many ideas floating around that I give each one a working title just so I can remember what it is. This song actually started out with the title ‘Cluster F**k,’ believe it or not! I’d ask Pat if he had any lyrics for it, and eventually we realized we couldn’t exactly release a song with that title. That’s when ‘Anti Social Media’ came about. The song isn’t really political. It’s about how social media, for all the good it does, can also divide people. I love the internet and how it connects us, but algorithms, bots, arguments, and constant negativity can pull people in and push them apart. Something designed to bring us together can actually make us more anti-social. We’re all guilty of spending way too much time endlessly scrolling, myself included. That’s really where the inspiration came from—the irony of something called social media making people less social. And let’s face it, ‘Anti Social Media’ is a much better title than ‘Cluster F**k!’”

About Cactus The current line-up of Cactus came together in 2021. Lead vocalist Jim Stapley comes from England and had worked with ex-Faces/Who drummer Kenny Jones in the Jones Gang and Humble Pie. “Nearly five decades after I formed this band, the time had come to re-invent Cactus once again,” says Appice, who also still drums for Vanilla Fudge, The Appice Brothers Drum Wars, and a hybrid tribute to former band leader, Rod Stewart. Adds Appice: “The music remains the same and Cactus is still a ‘hot and sweaty’ band. The level, quality and consistence of the band’s musicianship is as strong as ever.”
Cactus has had a long and turbulent history. Formed in 1970 from the ashes of Vanilla Fudge by Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert, the initial line up also featured McCarty (from Mitch Ryder and The Buddy Miles Express) and Amboy Dukes vocalist Rusty Day. While Cactus saw success from the start and soon built a loyal fan base, by early 1973 the band had collapsed mainly due to lack of real support from its label and the fact that Jeff Beck was now ready play with Carmine and Tim in BBA.
The band reformed in 2006, three decades after the tragic death of Rusty Day with Randy Pratt on harp (who also appears on this album) and Jimmy Kunes vocals. When the late Tim Bogert was forced into retirement due to complications after a serious motorcycle accident, Pete Bremy joined on bass before Caputo replaced him in 2020.

Following packed shows and rave reactions across Canada and the USA for the recently concluded North American leg of their 50th Anniversary Run For Your Lives Tour, Iron Maiden will return to North America for limited shows in 2027 and will headline Sonic Temple on 14th May. The set list for the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductees will include songs drawn from their career-defining early decades.

About Historic Crew Stadium: Historic Crew Stadium is the first ever professional soccer-specific stadium in the United States. In addition to hosting concerts, sporting events and programming throughout the year, the venue also serves as the home of Columbus Crew 2 of MLS NEXT Pro. As announced in October 2025, Historic Crew Stadium will also welcome the United Football League’s Columbus Aviators for their inaugural season in the spring of 2026. Previously serving as the home of the Columbus Crew from 1999-2021, Historic Crew Stadium opened its doors on May 15, 1999 to a sellout crowd for a match against the New England Revolution. Defects today release their brand new album Artificial Icons via Mascot Records, and to celebrate, they also reveal the lyric video for the vitriolic ‘Critic.’ One of the most crushingly heavy songs on the album, it takes on the haters. “This came from seeing someone slate the band online, telling people not to check out our music. I was pissed,” says vocalist Tony Maue. “The anger is obvious, but writing it out felt like a release. It’s raw, confrontational, and honest.” The album release comes hot on the heels of a triumphant UK tour with Allegaeon and GOROD, and ‘Critic’ is the latest single taken from a record that fizzes with anger, frustration, and the instinct to survive. These songs aren’t just stories; they confront addiction, unstable circumstances, failing systems, and fractured relationships.
Artificial Icons, produced by Jim Pinder (Sleep Token, Bring Me the Horizon), is Defects darker, sharper, and more honest than ever. They deliver a volatile mix: crushing riffs, thunderous breakdowns, and soaring choruses. Surging between savage screams and anthemic vocals, pushing and pulling between chaos and clarity. Beneath the heaviness lies a raw core. One of the album’s standout moments is the dystopian single ‘Signs’ featuring Matt Heafy, which places the listener in a war-torn setting. “I want to write songs that matter. To make people think,” he affirms. People are dying. This needs to be addressed. It’s about searching for meaning and finding a place to belong. There’s frustration, but also determination, even when the world feels like it’s crumbling. I’m so excited that this one features Matt.” The singles they have already dropped from the album grapple with emotions and the world around us: the socio-political ‘Artificial Icons’; the confrontation with blind faith and false hope on ‘Heresy ‘; and the inward-looking ‘All For Nothing’. ‘Where Did I Go Wrong’ captures a deep sense of helplessness, reflecting on difficult periods, unexpected support, and the way personal struggles can ultimately pull people apart.
