Ten years of razor-sharp riffs! Ten years of ferocious speed! Germany’s VULTURE are celebrating their first decade of destruction with a brand-new digital single fittingly titled, “Power Thrash!”

Since their formation in 2015, the high-speed powerhouse has carved its name into the skull of the world’s metal scene. Drawing from the raw aggression of thrash metal’s earliest days, the melodic hymns of the NWOBHM and the spirit of ’70s and ’80s horror and suspense, VULTURE‘s sound is as dangerous as unmistakable. Scorching twin-leads, thundering drums, ear-piercing screams, and a relentless dedication to their craft have made them one of the most exciting and authentic acts in the genre today.

Stream / purchase the track HERE.

From their infamous debut Victim To The Blade (2016) and its follow up The Guillotine (2017), to the genre-bending Ghastly Waves & Battered Graves (2019), it’s critically acclaimed successor Dealin’ Death (2021), and VULTURE‘s latest full-length Sentinels (2024), VULTURE proves that they’re alive, thrilling, and constantly evolving.

Now, with “Power Thrash,” the band distills a decade of intensity into a short, sharp raid: A celebration of the genre they helped revive and a nod to the roots that shaped them. Fast, fierce and over the top, this track is pure VULTURE – authentic metal made for the diehards. Watch out: The Blade Is Back!

The band comments, “After ten years of VULTURE including eight years under the sign of the Metal Blade, it felt more than necessary to herald the next decade with a proper celebration. Because ‘Power Thrash’ is just that: A celebration to the genre and to the essence of what is VULTURE. Throughout all these years, we’ve constantly tried to evolve, to reshape our sound while remaining deeply rooted in our aesthetics. ‘Power Thrash’ feels like the next step to an even more powerful and deadlier VULTURE than before. Straight to the point, brutal and faster than light!“

SOLOMON HICKS to Release New Album ‘How Did I Ever Get This Blue?’ on January 23rd

New York blues hotshot Solomon Hicks has announced details of his new album How Did I Ever Get This Blue?, which will be released on 23 January via Artone/Provogue. You can get a first taste of the album with his new single Further On Up The Road.

Hicks is a thrilling paradox, a sonic contradiction. He’s an old-soul roots scholar who salutes ancient musical forms – blues, jazz, soul, funk, gospel – but also a renegade gunslinger here to bend, stretch and scratch them for the modern world. His songs race from earworm originals, past pop covers torn up with electronica and punky riffs, to reignited blues standards that prove how potent this genre still is in the right hands.

Talking about his new single  Further On Up The Road – made famous by Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland –  he says, “I feel like I’m in Memphis when I hear the Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland version – it just had a really nice mid-tempo feel, like I’m driving in the car. Kirk and I didn’t want to take the song away from its roots, but it just sounds like we’re bringing it up to date. It sounds more like New York City than a studio down South. It’s more polished. But it gets right to the point with the guitar and vocals. It wastes no time getting you into that. That one has Chris ‘Whipper’ Layton, Kevin McCormick and Tommy Mandel on Hammond organ.”

“I want to shock people,” says Hicks with a megawatt smile. And whether you were there at his barely legal teenage club shows, caught on for 2020’s breakout debut Harlem – or hearing him for the first time on his new album How Did I Ever Get This Blue? – the rebel energy of this acclaimed singer-songwriter always moves the needle.

“It’s great to be alive in a time period where I can reach back to the past, but also be inspired by the now and the future,” says Hicks, whose accolades include the 2021 Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album. “With this new record, I wanted to showcase where my ear, my head and my guitar playing is at right now.”

Tracking in Austin, Texas, with producer Kirk Yano, Hicks assembled a crack-squad studio band that spans from US roots icons like Chris ‘Whipper’ Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble to seminal Bronx turntablist DJ Logic.

“Y’know, the usual suspects,” he smiles of an all-star cast that also includes Kevin McCormick (bass), French vocalist Bénabar, Joanna Connor (slide guitar), Tommy Mandel (keys), Keith Shocklee from Public Enemy (drum programming), John Nemeth (harmonica), Les Warner (of The Cult on drums) and Frank Amato (vocals). “It’s like building this car,” reflects the bandleader, “that goes at 200mph.”

The album they created together races from transformations of Further On Up The Road and Feels Like Rain to untamed reworkings of Adele’s Rumour Has It and Bruno Mars’ When I Was Your Man (not to mention Hicks’ originals, How Did I Ever Get This Blue and I’m Burnin’ Up).  Far from a ‘covers album’, each song unfolds as you’ve never heard it before. “I’m not looking to copy or recreate sounds from the past,” he nods.

Track Listing

1. Further On Up The Road
2. Dimples
3. Driftin’ And Driftin’
4. AllYour Love [I Miss Lovin’]
5. Flyin’ High [Yesterday]
6.How Did I Ever Get This Blue?
7. I’m Burnin; Up
8. When I Was Your Man
9. Rumour has It
10. Feels Like Rain

Born in Harlem in 1995, he soaked up the sonic kaleidoscope that flowed through city life. He enrolled at the Harlem School of Arts and the prestigious educational program Jazzmobile. But his real birth as a musician came at the sharp end of the city’s club scene.

As the fabled stamping ground of Duke Ellington, the Cotton Club seemed too big a stage for a 13-year-old – yet Hicks stepped up to earn the big band’s lead guitar spot and the respect of those hardened players.

Hicks blazed a trail across the city, a cult-hero performer everywhere from the Apollo Theater and B.B. King Blues Club (where he played backup guitar and took huge inspiration from Jr Mack) to St Nick’s and the New Amsterdam Musical Association in Harlem. While the stages got bigger – including the 2015 KISS Kruise and Joe Bonamassa’s 2017 Blues Cruise –He deems Harlem – released in 2020 on Provogue, fusing originals with reinterpretations – his true debut.

If Solomon Hicks came to shock us, mission accomplished. Fusing age-old human truths with street-smart modern attitude – while tearing up the rulebook of how roots music can sound – How Did I Ever Get This Blue? is the instant-classic sequel that will lock down devotees and rally new fans to the cause. “I’ve gone through life since Harlem,” he says. “Relationships, breakups, breakdowns – to put all that into this new album was so inspiring. For me, this record is something that musically excites me. And that’s the most important thing – that my soul is recharged…”

LINN HOLMES Follows the Whipping Post with ‘Wicked Game’ for Lance Lopez + Greg T. Walker

When LINN HOLMES released her Cleopatra debut “Whipping Post” back in May, cut with blues guitarist Eric Gales, nobody could have predicted the acclaim that followed, across printed page, social media and the streaming platforms.

Now Linn’s back, with a new single and video, “Wicked Game,” and two new collaborators too, guitarist Lance Lopez and original Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist and Blackfoot founder  Greg T Walker – aka the ass-kickin’ southern rock powerhouse Two Wolf.  The song itself, of course, needs no introduction – a 1989 Chris Isaak slow-burner that took almost two years to make the Billboard Top 10, but has since been described (by UK quarterly Dazed) as possibly the most influential love song in modern music.

A long standing stalwart of the LA session scene, Linn is no stranger to grand collaborations, having worked alongside the 12-piece vintage rock group Harry Katz and the Pistachios, Asteron, Canadian rockers Elderoth, Fernando Perdomo and Quiet Riot bassist Chuck Wright’s Ultimate Jam Night all-stars.

This latest partnership, however, was especially meaningful.  “I’ve listened to Lance previously,” says Linn.  “His 2018 album Tell The Truth has been on my rotation for years. He is just an absolutely incredible musician and person. Greg is an incredible bass player and an absolute legend.”

She continues, “‘Wicked Game’ is probably the track I’m the most involved with musically that I’ve ever done. It’s my first time really co-producing and arranging, tracking the percussion, some acoustic guitars, some keys/pads and all the vocals, background vocals.

“Me and producer Rev. Tom Chandler went into the studio and knocked out the demo in a couple of hours. The following week, phenomenal piano player Adam Peri tracked keys on it and amazing co-producer Daniel Jakubovic tracked drums and rhythm guitars, as well as working on the arrangement as a whole.

“When learning that Lance and Greg wanted to feature on the track, I was beyond thrilled. I feel so blessed that I get to release music with these fantastic people. I’m so proud of this track and can’t wait for the world to hear it!”

Lance Lopez adds, “Linn’s voice is so unique, it was really amazing to hear how she did this song! My approach to the guitar playing on the track was to compliment and elevate her already intense and powerful delivery.”

“Wicked Game” is available now, on all platforms.

Dutch Black Metal force EMBRACED BY DARKNESS are set to release their highly anticipated debut full-length “Ex Inferis” on October 31st, 2025 via Non Serviam Records. Forged in the cold underground, the band delivers a furious yet melodic storm of darkness, where relentless aggression collides with haunting atmospheres and death-infused ferocity.

The first single, “Messenger Of Satan”, comes accompanied by a lyric video.

“With Messenger of Satan we unleash a relentless force of darkness. This track is our declaration against false gods and hollow faiths, a hymn drenched in blood, fear, and chaos. We are the harbingers, the punisher of the divine, and through this song we summon a new dominion under Satan. Let the cries of the fallen echo, for the darkness is here to reign,” comment the band.

Danish metallers Defecto share today the new single “Eternal Descent”, available along with an official music video. The track is taken from the upcoming new studio album, “Echoes Of Isolation”, out on October 31, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.

Nicklas Sonne described the new single, by saying: “Eternal Descent” dives into the endless spiral of insomnia – where nights feel like prisons, thoughts race without mercy, and the line between dreams and reality slowly disappears”.

Pre-Order “Echoes Of Isolation” HERE

Defecto is a Copenhagen-based metal band formed in 2011 by guitarist/vocalist Nicklas Sonne, guitarist Frederik Møller, and bassist Thomas Bartholin.

Known for their combination of technical precision, melodic strength, and emotional intensity, the band has become one of the most respected names in the modern Danish metal scene.

With three studio albums, two EPs, and several acclaimed festival appearances (Copenhell, RockFest Finland) and support slots with Metallica and Rammstein, Defecto has consistently pushed the envelope of progressive and cinematic metal.

Now, Frontiers Records proudly presents “Echoes Of Isolation”, the band’s most personal, intense, and introspective record yet – a concept album exploring the haunting landscape of mental illness and psychological struggles.

Nicklas Sonne stated: “Each song inhabits a different psychological struggle – insomnia, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, paranoia, dissociation, trauma – giving voice to the war within. This isn’t just a metal album. It’s a mirror held to the mind”.

“For us, it’s about turning pain into power, and creating something that can connect deeply with anyone who has ever felt broken, isolated, or misunderstood”
, he added.

Fans of Metallica, Symphony X or Evergrey will be captivated by the album’s cinematic power and progressive depth, driven by Sonne’s compelling vocals and razor-sharp songwriting.

AEPHANEMER Unleash New Video Single ‘Le Cimetière Marin’

October 31, 2025 will see French melodic death metal frontrunners, AEPHANEMER, release their much-awaited, new studio offering Utopie through Napalm Records.

Blending ferocious melodic death metal with cinematic grandeur, Utopie sees the band unleash an ambitious, razor-sharp assault of epic melodies, relentless speed, and philosophical depth, pushing their sound into bold new territory. Led by the commanding presence of Marion Bascoul, AEPHANEMER delivers a fiercely technical and emotionally immersive record — lyrically exploring the uniquely mythic urgency of modern times.

In support of Utopie, the band will embark on a European tour in early November, with special guests VALHALORE, DARK OATH and WALDGEFLÜSTER. Find all upcoming live dates listed below!

Following the previously released, blistering album opening track “La Règle du Jeu”, today, the trio has unveiled a music video for their latest single “Le Cimetière Marin”.

“Le Cimetière Marin” offers an intricate guitar tapestry beneath a scathing vocal assault, crafting a track that’s both graceful and menacing. It powerfully blends progressive metal complexity and emotional intensity, showcasing AEPHANEMER‘s ability to balance technical proficiency with deeply resonant atmospheres.

The accompanying music video takes viewers into the band’s rehearsal space, offering a thrilling performance of the track with eye-catching visual cues that amplify it’s intensity. Watch the video now premiering here:

The band comments:
“Le Cimetière Marin is one of the most distinctive tracks on the album. We aimed to create a truly heroic piece – not in a modern way, but inspired by the way heroism was expressed in classical music centuries ago. Fueled by bold elements from both classical traditions and melodic death metal, it carries a strong, almost epic energy. We’re really eager to bring it to the stage!”

Following the roaring success of their latest album A Dream Of Wilderness (2021), the Toulouse-based melodic death metal powerhouse strikes again with their fourth studio offering. With Utopie, AEPHANEMER recalibrates their formula, surging with heavier classical influences, blistering riffage, majestic orchestrations, and Slavic folk undertones — etching a sound equally ancient and futuristic.

“With Utopie, we set out to create a sound that brings together the elements we’ve always loved — the intensity of melodic death metal and the depth of classical music,” AEPHANEMER recently said. “We spent a lot of time shaping melodies, drawing inspiration from polyphonic writing, and building orchestral arrangements that feel both powerful and natural to us. It was a challenging but fulfilling process, and we sincerely hope listeners will connect with what we’ve crafted.”

Lyrically, the record engages with the concept of utopia not as escape, but as confrontation — dissecting philosophical ideals with their refined sonic scalpel, and pushing for a world of harmony between living beings.

Actively bucking genre conventions, AEPHANEMER continues to reinvent their path in the melodic death metal landscape. Utopie is more than just an album — it’s a storm of sound, an ideological reckoning, and a powerful new chapter from one of Europe’s most vital and visionary metal bands!
