Brazilian GUTTED SOULS Punch with New Single ‘Zero-Sum Overlords’ from Upcoming Studio Album

GUTTED SOULS started in 2004 when the members of the band NECROPEDOPHILE, after releasing their demo “Fetal Gore” (2002), started deviating from their proposed path of making death metal in the vein of Cannibal Corpse, Sinister, Morbid Angel and such. As the musicians started to become more proficient in their respective instruments, the musical direction changed to something more technical and progressive side of death metal.

The band suffered countless changes since then, with numerous line-up changes, and the sole remaining founding member is Iron (IncognoscI, ex-Anopsy, ex-Diisgraça). After joining forces with Wellington Ferrari, the band decided to focus on death metal with politically infused lyrics about psychopathy, mediatic manipulation, and the corruption of science and religion, culminating in both the “Unconscious Automaton” EP (2012), “The Illusion of Freedom” album (2017) and single “Organic Portal (2019).

Within all years of existence Gutted Souls had a pleasure to play at Extreme Hate Festival and as a support of such great bands as: Obituary, Master, Carach Angren, Unleashed, Apocalyptic Raids and Krisiun.

Right now, band is preparing to unleash to the wider audience their new masterpiece, second studio album titled “Portals To Chaosium” which consist of 8 brand new songs (+intro & outro) fully marking a change of direction towards a darker, faster and even more brutal death metal worship.

This is how band describes new album: “What is Portals to Chaosium? It’s brutal & technical death metal with the raw energy and nostalgia of 90’s and early 2000 , but with modern production. Songs contains almost progressive solo sections, contrasting with breakdowns and fast blasts, with old school mid tempo beats in between – there is something for all lovers of the different subgenres of death metal. Lyrics are about cosmic horror, parasocial decay, alchemical transformation, entropy, transhumanism, existential dread, woven together to create a dark, dystopian narrative“.

“Portals to Chaosium” was recorded (between June 2024-January 2025), mixed, mastered and produced by Victor Mendonça (ex-Lacerated and Carbonized). The guitars used were crafted specifically for this record by Carreiro Guitars. Cover artwork & layout was done by Aeon Artwork. Release date is set up on September 26, 2025 and will be released digitally and on CD by the Polish label Via Nocturna. CD could be purchased at official webstore (here).

Formed in Denmark and active since 2013, Meridian have long stood at the crossroads of melodic metal, with flashes of AOR and progressive influences shaping their early records. But now, with a new frontman and a renewed sense of direction, the band strips everything back to essentials, delivering a hard-hitting, hook-filled album that proudly wears its ‘80s metal influences on its sleeve.

The shift in sound comes from two key moments: a conscious decision to sharpen their sonic identity, and the arrival of Søren Adamsen (ex-Artillery) as lead vocalist. Texas-based hateful Death Metal outfit, CALCRAFT, recently signed to Lifeforce Records, are set to release their debut album, Reborn Through Torture, on November 21st (physical release January 30th).

With the uncompromising credo “Unrelenting death metal. No trends. No mercy.” CALCRAFT define their sound – and with their debut album “Reborn Through Torture”, they deliver a merciless statement against anything watered-down or trend-driven.

The Texas-based outfit stands for raw, hate-fueled death metal, deeply rooted in the legacy of Immolation, Suffocation, and Incantation. But CALCRAFT go further: their songs are steeped in dark atmosphere, thrashy aggression, and a cinematic violence that feels ripped straight from the bloodiest scenes of Giallo and slasher films.

Their name is no coincidence – William Calcraft, England’s infamous executioner, serves as a grim source of inspiration. With her ethereal voice and stark, piano-driven arrangements, Antinoë shapes soundscapes where neoclassical elegance collides with the atmospheric weight of metal, weaving music that is at once fragile, immersive, and profoundly melancholic. “Threshold” is a desperate cry for mortality, where fear tightens into nocturnal panic and suffocation. A piece of raw, twisted intensity, spiraling towards the idea of a final pain —an ultimate agony of the body on its final moment, so overwhelming it distorts time into a single, unending instant at the edge of life.

Since its inception in 2021, Antinoë has embraced a uniquely personal approach to darkness, building her songs around intimate piano compositions intertwined with her rich, resonant voice. Marraco’s background in extreme music further anchors her vision: she has collaborated with acts such as Coldborn, Elffor, Balmog, and Empty, and recorded the piano/keyboard parts for Dimmu Borgir’s live performance of Det Nye Riket at Beyond the Gates Festival. Her 2023 debut, “Whispers from the Dark Past”, an acoustic reinterpretation of 90s Norwegian black metal classics, garnered critical attention and cemented her distinctive identity on the border between metal and neoclassical expression.
