THE ANSWER LIES IN THE BLACK VOID, the alchemical collaboration between vocalist Martina Horváth (Thy Catafalque) and composer/multi-instrumentalist Jason Köhnen (Celestial Season, Bong-Ra, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble), have released the second single from their upcoming third full-length album, “Transcendental”.

Following the first single, “The Summoning,” the band now unveils the brooding & intense track “Sine Morbo”, which is also accompanied by a brand-new music video. This powerful visual work deepens the band’s exploration of existential themes, carrying forward their atmospheric and emotionally charged journey towards the transcendental.

The band offers insight into the song’s meaning: “Sine Morbo [Latin / medical: ‘without disease’] reflects on how our society still tends to see an individual only as a physical form. Sine Morbo written on the paper, while the soul is ill. It is time to condition ourselves to treat the whole – mind, body, and spirit.“

Rooted in their shared passion for doom in all its forms, Horváth and Köhnen formed THE ANSWER LIES IN THE BLACK VOID to explore the genre’s emotional and existential depths. Their self-styled Transcendental Metal blends doom’s crushing gravity with elements of folk, ambient and electronica – casting a wide, atmospheric net that captures both sonic weight and spiritual introspection.

Lyrically, the band dives deep into the complexities of the human psyche. Themes of inner struggle, psychological transformation, and the hidden architecture of the soul permeate their songs, giving their music a haunting emotional resonance that moves beyond the typical boundaries of metal. The result is a sound that is both soul-crushing and soul-searching.

Following their critically praised debut, “Forlorn” (2021), and the equally compelling “Thou Shalt” (2023), with their new album THE ANSWER LIES IN THE BLACK VOID continue to explore the depths of the human psyche, captivating listeners far beyond the typical boundaries of metal.

SCYTHIKON Unleash Debut Single ‘Survivalist’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 10, 2025

From the shadows of Sweden’s northern wastelands rises SCYTHIKON — a sonic war machine forged in chaos, sharpened in fire, and fueled by primal instinct. Their debut single “Survivalist”, released via Faravid Recordings, is now available on all major streaming platforms: https://scythikon.ffm.to/survivalist

With “Survivalist”, SCYTHIKON delivers its first strike — a bone-crushing anthem blending apocalyptic riffs, unrelenting aggression, and lyrics that spit in the face of a decaying civilization. It is both a warning and a motivation: a soundtrack for the ruthless who refuse to fall.

“Survivalist is all about motivation. Not just for us, but for everyone. It is hard and dark, just like the world appears from time to time,” comments SCYTHIKON’s frontman Pär Hulkoff. “It’s in the blood, motherfxcker.”

SCYTHIKON is the unfiltered vision of Pär Hulkoff (HULKOFF, Raubtier), whose long career in extreme metal carved the foundation for this new beast. During the lockdown years, Hulkoff joined forces with German drum berserker Wanja “Nechtan” Gröger and bassist J-son, giving life to material too raw and venomous to belong anywhere else.

The band’s name takes inspiration from the ancient Scythian death poison — a brutal mix of blood, venom, and filth. True to its name, Scythikon is not about history; it is about survival. The sound is merciless, the riffs venom-soaked, the vocals blood-drenched. This is music for a collapsing world — war hymns for those who sharpen blades in the dark and live by their own law.

Tracked through Hulkoff’s vintage 1993 Marshall stack and mixed by Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed), Scythikon is nothing less than an uncompromising sonic assault.

Born from the blood trail of a wounded world, SCYTHIKON stands as a testament to raw aggression and survival instinct. With warlike riffs, apocalyptic vision, and sheer force, this trio delivers extreme metal for the hopeless generation — a merciless soundtrack to the end times.

The collapse is coming. Scythikon has written the soundtrack.

Line-up:
Vox/Guitar: Pär Hulkoff
Bass: J-son
Drums: Wanja “Nechtan” Gröger

BLOODBOUND Announce Thrilling New Album “Field Of Swords”, Out November 21st

Raise your swords up high: BLOODBOUND march into a powerful future with Field Of Swords, out November 21, 2025 via Napalm Records. Twenty years after the release of their debut album, the Swedish warriors, who were just featured in the Paramount success series “Knuckles”, stand taller than ever on the front line of epic power metal, delivering their most modern work yet. Most recently drawn to the Viking era, the latest concept album Field Of Swords turns the page to another chapter in history, moving past the year 1066 and into the Middle Ages. As warfare evolves and the significance of forging iron with carbon leads to superior swordsmen, the bloodstained battlefields show new, grim faces, leaving room for more of BLOODBOUND’s vivid storytelling that continues to thrill audiences at countless live shows around the globe.

Along with the album announcement, BLOODBOUND unleash their first single, “Defenders Of Jerusalem”, a sweeping tale of glory and defeat. Cleverly ambiguous on the ultimate outcome of the battle, the first single off their first album with Napalm Records gives enticing insight into the future Field Of Swords will lead the band to: dominant and catchy while driven by heavy riffs and melodic keyboards alike—BLOODBOUND raise their swords to victory!

Fredrik Bergh about “Defenders Of Jerusalem”:
“‘Defenders of Jerusalem’ is, in my opinion, one of the top tracks on the new album.
It’s a song Tomas wrote on his own. On every BLOODBOUND album he always delivers outstanding tracks; this is one of them. It’s going to be a killer song to play live as well.”

Tomas Olsson about “Defenders Of Jerusalem”:
“‘Defenders of Jerusalem’ is a song about the siege of Jerusalem in 1187 where Balian of Ibelin bravely defended the city against Saladin’s overwhelming forces.”

BLOODBOUND’s latest triumphant march impressively illustrates the importance of purpose and perseverance with heroic tales in shining heavy metal armor. Valiant, vigorous, and ultimately victorious: Field Of Swords has come to expand BLOODBOUND’s domination of the scene!

Fredrik Bergh on Field Of Swords:
“Field Of Swords is a concept album, a continuation from our last album Tales From The North (2023) which touched upon the subject of the Viking era. On Field Of Swords, we have moved on in history and entered the Middle Ages (after 1066). The concept, in short, is the following: When the Viking Age ended in the year of our Lord 1066, came the long and grim Medieval times.
We are extremely excited about the new album and to release it with the backing of the mighty Napalm Records. Music-wise, the new album has a slightly more modern sound, but we can guarantee it includes all the elements BLOODBOUND is known for! It’s a diverse record with aggressive songs, epic tracks, and it also contains some of the fastest parts we have written. And on the other hand, we have some slower, majestic songs as well, like, ‘The Nine Crusades’ where UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ Brittney Slayes duets with Patrik. Field Of Swords has everything you can ask for!”

Get Your Copy Of Field Of Swords NOW

BLOODBOUND’s first release with Napalm Records adds another 11 captivating battle hymns to their repertoire. A diverse record with aggressive songs and epic tracks alike, their eleventh album also contains some of the band’s fastest material ever written. The opening title track, “Field Of Swords”, immediately storms into BLOODBOUND’s signature sound, braiding stories of glory with a sweeping blend of melodic and heavy power metal. The dominant “As Empires Fall” follows the crusaders east and powerfully depicts said glory in epic battle in contrast with sacrifices made on the way. “Defenders Of Jerusalem” cleverly expands on the topic of loss, leaving listeners to wonder which side is holding their heads up high in the face of imminent defeat. Catchy flutes have the heroes take heart in “The Code Of Warriors” to guide them into the “Land Of The Brave” and Field Of Swords to new heights at the same time. “Light In The Sky” further illustrates BLOODBOUND’s battle scars turned electrifying sound, while the mature “Teutonic Knights” opens up the bleak reality of the tragedy that undoubtedly accompanies this battle-torn era of history. Yet, “Forged In Iron”, “Pain and Glory”, and “Born to be King” hold their ground as equally unforgettable tunes, all leading up to the brilliant finale: Brittney Slayes of powerhouse Canadian band UNLEASH THE ARCHERS joins “The Nine Crusades” as another valuable fighter to lead Field Of Swords to greatness.

Field Of Swords tracklisting:

  1. Field of Swords
  2. As Empires Fall
  3. Defenders of Jerusalem
  4. The Code of Warriors
  5. Land of the Brave
  6. Light the Sky

MAAHES Unleash New Video & Single ‘Keeper Of Secrets’

German extreme metal band MAAHES unveil their new single and video, “Keeper Of Secrets,” a track which takes listeners deep into the ancient mysteries of Egypt.

Speaking about the concept behind the song, the band explains:
“The lyrics portray a fierce guardian protecting ancient secrets within the pyramids, embodying a lion-like protector who fiercely repels invaders and treasure hunters.”

With its powerful blend of atmosphere and heaviness, “Keeper Of Secrets” showcases the band’s versatility and ability to transcend genre boundaries. The accompanying video further enhances the song’s mythological concept, immersing viewers into a timeless tale of guardianship, secrets, and defiance.

“Keeper Of Secrets” is now available on all major streaming platforms, and the official video can be experienced on Massacre Records’ official YouTube channel.

Rising from the depths of the Bavarian Forest, MAAHES return with their second full-length opus “Nechacha” – a record which is heavier, darker, and more orchestral than anything they have released before. Out on September 19, 2025 via Massacre Records, the album will be available as Mediabook, limited vinyl LP, and digital formats. Pre-order/pre-save it now: https://save-it.cc/massacre/nechacha

Named after the flagellum, the ancient Egyptian symbol of dominion held by pharaohs and gods, “Nechacha” marks a new era for MAAHES: epic arrangements, monumental orchestration, and a deeper descent into the blackened void — without abandoning the raw ferocity of their earlier works.

While their 2020 debut “Reincarnation” was firmly rooted in traditional black metal, “Nechacha” expands the band’s vision with cinematic scope, reminiscent of early Dimmu Borgir, yet unmistakably forged in the unique atmosphere of MAAHES.

“Nechacha” delves into ancient Egyptian ritual, occultism, divine madness, and the legacy of fallen empires. The eleven tracks move between themes of rebirth and destruction, hubris and devotion, domination and transcendence, shaping a sonic temple where myth and metal collide.

Track listing “Nechacha”
Magic Slave
The Resurrection
Lord of the Underworld
Morbid Love
Cult of the Sun
The Crown and the Sceptre
Keeper of Secrets
Obsidian
Patron Saint of Pharaohs (feat. Lele Habel)
Medusa
Nephthys’ Tears (Remixed & Remastered)

“Nechacha” was produced by Thomas Winnerl and Heiko Müller and mixed by Heiko Müller and V. Santura at Woodshed Studios. Marcus Röll / Autumn Arts crafted the cover artwork.

MAAHES live:

07.11.2025    DE –  Heidelberg, Halle02

Formed in 2015 in Grafenau (Bavarian Forest, Germany), MAAHES first explored Greek mythology on their debut EP “Ancient Force” (2016), before fully embracing an Egyptian concept in music, lyrics, and aesthetics. Festival appearances followed at Wolfszeit and Ragnarök (2018).
In 2020, the band signed with MDD Records and released their debut full-length “Reincarnation”, followed by extensive touring across clubs, festivals, and Eastern Europe. Performances included Dark Easter Metal Meeting, Barther Metal Open Air, and tours with Eisregen.

With “Nechacha”, set for release in September 2025, MAAHES stand ready to ascend to the next level—armed with an album that is at once uncompromisingly black, deeply atmospheric, and conceptually unyielding.
