Steve Gordon MIA Releases Dark New Anthem ‘Broken’, Feat. Ray West

After reaching top 20 on Metal Contraband Radio charts in the USA – with his explosive single “We Go To War,” guitarist/producer/mixer Steve Gordon MIA is back with his most uncompromising track yet. His new single “Broken” features the unmistakable voice of Ray West (Spread Eagle) and delivers a Hard rock/Metal assault rooted in obsession, addiction, and the chaos that follows when desire spins out of control.

The single continues Gordon’s creative partnership with Ray West, best known as the frontman of NYC hard rockers Spread Eagle. Together, they deliver another explosive performance that blends modern heavy metal intensity with the raw, emotional edge of classic hard rock.

“BROKEN is heavy, aggressive, raw, relentless, ferocious, but also personal. Ray brought it to life in a way that’s both haunting and powerful.”

Steve Gordon MIA adds: “BROKEN is about having that crave or addiction that you can’t live without. It consumes you to the point that if you can’t have it when and where you want it, it drives you mad. It controls your thoughts and decisions where you’re doing things that are totally insane, and you will probably do something crazy that you will regret for the rest of your life to satisfy your crave.”

Ray West: “Whether it’s addiction to sex, drugs, or money—when the thing that brings comfort to your addictive brain suddenly betrays you, leaving you feeling physically and mentally broken—you’re left with the choice to either lay down and die, or fight back and take control of your life. And sometimes taking control leads to an act of violence.”

Importantly, the collaboration between Steve Gordon MIA and Ray West is not a band, but part of Gordon’s solo vision. Ray West has lent his voice to both “We Go To War” and “BROKEN” as a featured vocalist, while the upcoming Steve Gordon MIA album, arriving December 2025, will also showcase a mix of instrumental hard rock/metal tracks and songs featuring other well-known singers across the heavy music spectrum. This approach emphasizes Gordon’s role as a guitarist, songwriter, and producer curating a diverse and powerful project.

Recently, Gordon’s instrumental single “Pharaoh Lives” gained radio exposure and charted internationally entering at #8 in Germany’s Instrumental Rock charts alongside heavyweights like Metallica at (#1), Megadeth, Testament, and Slayer. That same day, the track debuted at #1 in Los Angeles on the Best of Hard Rock/Metal charts by Bad Wolf Records. The achievement highlights not only U.S. momentum but also growing global traction.

A veteran musician, Steve Gordon has played guitar on dozens of Gold and Platinum records across genres, collaborating with icons such as Rob Thomas, Rod Stewart, Celine Dion, Phil Collins, Bon Jovi, Frank Sinatra, Wu-Tang Clan, Brian Howe (Bad Company), James Ingram, Natalie Cole, Betty Wright, Phyllis Hyman, Rita Marley, Crew to Crew (Motley Crüe/2 Live Crew), Inner Circle, and Tito Jackson.

As a mixer and producer, his credits also include projects with Regina Belle, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Natalie Cole, Donell Jones, Tony Braxton, Najee, David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Howard Hewitt (Shalamar), Matt Kramer (Saigon Kick) and Morgan Wallen—where he mixed half of Wallen’s Stand Alone (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition), which reached the Top 15 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart. Gordon mixed Donell Jones’ albums Forever (#8 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums) and Lyrics (#20 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums), including the singles “Forever” (#14 R&B Singles) and “Love Like This” (Top 5 R&B Singles).

Gordon is also a Grammy-nominated engineer for Betty Wright & The Roots’ song titled “Surrender” and was personally asked by Regina Belle to remix all her #1 hits—including “A Whole New World,” “Baby Come to Me,” and “Make It Like It Was.”

Through the 1980s and 1990s, Gordon became a highly sought-after ghost session guitarist, frequently flown to New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago just days before a record release to repair and replace guitar parts for major record company releases. Often called in when artwork and album covers were already finalized and ready for immediate distribution worldwide, record executives and A&R departments trusted him to make the subtle but crucial changes that elevated tracks to their final, polished versions.

One of the most notable examples was when Gordon was called by manager Doc McGhee and producer Barry Mraz to step in on “Heart of America”—a song written by Bon Jovi for Farm Aid—where he replaced Richie Sambora’s guitar parts due to untold circumstances. He also contributed guitar work to Rob Thomas’ early band Tabitha’s Secret (the precursor to Matchbox Twenty) and played guitar on two songs on the Wu-Tang Clan album Iron Flag.

Because of his consistent ability to rescue and transform songs just days or hours before a release, Steve Gordon was often referred to as the “SECRET WEAPON”—the guitarist who could elevate a track to Top 40 Billboard chart success with his parts and additions. His behind-the-scenes work helped many artists achieve recognition that pushed them to icon status.

As Gordon was fully aware in his role as a ghost guitarist for some of rock and pop’s most iconic artists, he knew his name would not appear in the liner notes. However, his contributions were still formally recognized after release through lifetime royalties paid by AIE for all his ghosting sessions, cementing his status as an essential but often unseen contributor to many top charting records still played worldwide on radio every day worldwide.

In addition to his recording and session work, Gordon has placed about 27 songs in major films and soundtracks, including “The Little Things” starring Denzel Washington, “80 For Brady” starring Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Rita Moreno, Lily Tomlin, and NFL legend Tom Brady, and “Mafia Mama” starring Toni Collette and Monica Bellucci. His work also extends to Disney movies & soundtracks, as well as placements across Netflix, HBO, and Paramount, showcasing his versatility and wide-reaching impact.

With “We Go To War” still gaining traction on rock and metal radio stations across the country, “BROKEN” builds on that momentum. Backed once again by Munsey Ricci (Skateboard Marketing Ltd.) on radio promotion, ) and Michael Brandvold Marketing handling social media, press and digital strategy, Gordon continues to position his music for maximum impact in both the commercial and underground rock scenes.

Expect “BROKEN” to be a defining statement in Steve Gordon MIA’s evolving story—raw, relentless, ferocious, and unafraid to push boundaries.

RICK HUGHES Delivers Spectacular Solo Album “Redemption” + Reunites Members of One of OZZY’s Best Line-Ups for Cover of The Who’s ‘The Real Me’

Canadian-born Rick Hughes is renowned for his powerful and rangey voice as the lead singer of the legendary metal band Sword, and of the hard-rock band Saints & Sinners. A seasoned performer with hundreds of headlining shows in Canada, America, Europe and Japan over the years, and his superb stage performances while opening for bands such as Metallica, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Black Label Society, etc.

So when it was time for him to record ‘’Redemption’’, his first international solo album, he spared no expenses and efforts to make this album a great one, hiring producer John Webster (Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, etc.) and renting HippoSonic Recording Studio (formerly known as Little Mountain Studios) in Vancouver to record this opus.

The first salvo is coming out September 5, 2025, and it is quite an event in itself: his first single and video is a supercharged version of The Who’s classic ‘’The Real Me’’ – reuniting after 43 years Ozzy Osbourne’s superband consisting of Brad Gillis on guitar, Rudy Sarzo on bass, and Tommy Aldridge on drums. This is the band that did the last leg of the ‘’Diary of a Madman Tour’’ in 1982 after the tragic departure of the great Randy Rhoads, and that then recorded Ozzy’s classic live album ‘’Speak of the Devil’’.

“The Real Me” video can be viewed below, while the single can be streamed at https://push.fm/ps/ilgjszby.

Pick up the Limited Edition Bundle (100 copies) that includes a collectible 7” vinyl of the “Real Me” signed by Rick Hughes, Brad Gillis, Tommy Aldridge, and Rudy Sarzo.

Pre-order limited edition releases here: https://www.dekoentertainment.com/inthesquare/rick-hughes

The resulting sound is epic, and so is the spectacular video that was shot and directed by Matthew Lucas (Kringle Time, Moonshot, We Meet Again, etc.) at the state-of-the-art L.A. Castle Studios, with post and editing by Montreal’s Jean-Marc Laurin (Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Game of Thrones, Assassin’s Creed, etc.).

”The Real Me stands as a cornerstone of my album ‘Redemption’,” says Rick. “As a lifelong fan of The Who, I wanted to pay tribute to the golden age of 70s rock. To capture that spirit, I brought together a true supergroup with Tommy Aldridge, Rudy Sarzo and Brad Gillis, a unique moment where legends unite to breathe new life into a classic.”

“This very special song is part of the upcoming Rick Hughes Album ‘Redemption,’ a collection of great rock songs to be released on Friday, October 24 2025 on CD, Vinyl, and Digital format worldwide by Deko Entertainment, and featuring more great collaborations with some famous musicians.

Included are 2 more songs featuring the superb songwriting and inspired guitar playing of the great Brad Gillis, another featuring the extraordinary talent of The Door’s legendary guitarist Robby Krieger, and great contributions from rock royalty Lee Aaron, vocal powerhouse Amy Keys (Ringo Starr, Phil Collins, Toto, Sting, Stevie Wonder, etc.), rising guitar hot shot Jacob Deraps, as well as Rick’s gifted sister, Lulu Hughes.

With its great performances, ‘Redemption’ is a very special and unique rock album that brings together 7 songs in English, 1 bilingual and 2 songs in French.

THE INTEMPERATE SONS Release New Single + Music Video ‘Saturday Is Always Hard’

Alt-Rockers, The Intemperate Sons, have released the third track, “Saturday Is Always Hard,” from their upcoming third studio album, Ephemera, set for release in winter 2025.

“Saturday Is Always Hard” is a departure from some of the heavier tracks listeners have become accustomed to.  The song is a reflective journey of knowing you’re losing someone and the thoughts that clutter your mind waiting for that day.  The Intemperate Sons venture slightly into more heavier pop territory with this track using haunting keys and dark, yet jazzy guitar tone.  It’s the kind of song that sticks with you, perfect for anyone who loves music that feels real and hits deep.

The Intemperate Sons release all their music through the Frame|Work record label at the direction of Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck. All Intemperate Sons’ tracks are mixed by Amir Derakh at Synthicide in Long Beach, CA.  All mastering is done by Mike Marsh Mastering in the U.K.

In the sweltering Dallas summer of 2019, before the onset of a global pandemic, The Intemperate Sons were born from blood, grit, and a shared obsession with the ghosts of alternative rock’s golden age. The Watson family—Keith on drums, Jake on guitars, and Max on vocals, guitars, and keys—joined forces with longtime friend and bassist Mark Marks to create a sound that’s equal parts searing riffs, haunting harmonies, and unapologetic soul. Think Alice in Chains’ brooding intensity, Stone Temple Pilots’ swagger, and R.E.M.’s poetic undercurrent, all filtered through a ‘70s rock haze that refuses to play it safe.

This isn’t just a band; it’s a family affair, where the unspoken bond between father and sons fuels every chord and lyric. Keith, a Dallas stage veteran, pens lyrics that cut deep—tales of regret, resilience, and the chaos of the human condition. Jake’s guitar lines, sharp yet soulful, weave narratives of their own, while Max’s voice carries the weight of a 25-year-old who’s lived a lifetime in his head. Mark, the groove-obsessed bassist, ties it all together.

The Intemperate Sons hit the ground running, catching the ear of rock heavyweights Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh (Orgy, Dead By Sunrise, Julien-K), who signed them to their Frame|Work label in 2021. Even a global pandemic couldn’t derail their momentum—holed up in The Kitchen Recording Studios, they crafted their debut album, The Color Within (2022), with tracks like “Dust to Dust” and “Running Man” that pulse with raw emotion and retro grit. Collaborations with legends like Tony Franklin (Whitesnake, The Firm) on singles like “Running Man” and “Dust to Dust” and Derakh’s production on singles like “Game of Keep Away” and “Dark Day’s Night” featured on their second and highly successful album, Dark Day’s Night (2024) pushed their sound further, blending post-grunge edge with folk and hard rock undercurrents.

For fans of alternative rock, this band is a throwback and a revelation—a reminder of why you fell in love with the genre’s raw honesty and a promise that its spirit still burns. The Intemperate Sons aren’t chasing trends; they’re carving their own path, one riff, one lyric, one night at a time.performing tracks that scratch deep into the backbone of the human experience. There is no shortage of darkness in their writing style which has a retro vibe with many guitar driven tracks stacked on top of a groovy rhythm section. The heavier style fits perfectly with the two and three-part vocal harmonies that are a huge part of their overall sound. It has been said that musicians that are related form unique sounds and communicate on a frequency only they can understand. This frequency has become engrained in their songwriting, arrangements, guitar melodies and vocal harmonies. The band has been compared to Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and even R.E.M.

The Intemperate Sons are:
Max Watson (vocals, backing vocals, guitars, keys, bass)
Jake Watson (guitars, bass and backing vocals)
Keith Watson (drums, backing vocals)
Mark Marks (bass)

The Intemperate Sons Show Dates:
Sun Sept 27 @ Red River Revel Music Festival 2025 in Shreveport, LA
Fri Oct 17 @ Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, CA w/ Julien K, for all the emptiness, Our Frankenstein, Skyplant, Vanta After Dark

Founded in 2020, Finnish metal band KAIRA has just released their latest single, “Sairas Paska” – a track that pulls no punches in sound or message. With its heavy, driving energy and unfiltered lyrics, the song speaks directly to those who’ve experienced narcissism, manipulation, and emotional abuse.

“It was around 2023 when our guitarist Panu shared a demo titled Sairas Paska, and I immediately knew we had to keep the name. It was brutally honest – just like the song itself. The theme came together naturally from there. This is also the first track we’ve done with Antti Myllynen, who joined the band in 2024,” says vocalist Jasse Jatala.

Sairas Paska is raw, relentless, and rhythmically gripping – a sonic outcry for those who’ve endured emotional violence and found the strength to scream back.

KAIRA is:
Jasse Jatala – Lead vocals & lyrics
Markus Räipiö – Bass & backing vocals

BLACKLIST UNION Release New Single ‘Dyin’ 4 U’ from Upcoming Album

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: BLACKLIST UNION. Leave a comment

Blacklist Union has officially released their latest single, “Dyin’ 4 U,” available now on all streaming platforms.

The track delivers a raw and emotional punch, drawing from frontman Tony West’s personal struggles. “‘Dyin’ 4 U’ is about the hideous divorce and pain I went through and even though I still deeply love her, I refuse to die for her,” West shares.

“Dyin’ 4 U” is taken from the band’s highly anticipated upcoming album, Slay the Dragon, scheduled for release on September 12, 2025. The record will mark Blacklist Union’s sixth full-length release, further cementing their place as one of modern hard rock’s most uncompromising voices.

With their signature mix of gritty rock ’n’ roll attitude and unflinching honesty, Blacklist Union continues to deliver music that is as powerful as it is personal.

Blacklist Union have built a reputation on their explosive live shows and unapologetically bold sound. Their previous record, Letters from the Psych Ward, racked up over two million streams, setting the stage for the band’s new album.

Frontman Tony West, known for his larger-than-life presence, took time out to dive deep into several transformative ayahuasca journeys in the heart of the Amazon, preparing for this next era of music.

As Tony put it, “Ayahuasca isn’t a drug—it’s powerful spiritual medicine from another realm. It helped me heal in ways I never thought possible, releasing layers of trauma, heartache, and sorrow. I’m not perfect—not Gandhi or anything—but it changed everything. My entire view of myself, love, the world, people, and my children changed because of those experiences.”

“Dyin’ 4 U” was written by Tony West / Christopher Johnson, produced and mixed by Christopher Johnson. It was recorded at East West Studios in Hollywood, CA.

Slay the Dragon Tracklist:

  1. Mississippi Moonhound
  2. Up in Smoke
  3. Can You Heal Me
  4. Dyin’ 4 U
  5. Do It For The Song
  6. Free At Last
  7. All Hail the King
  8. Horns and Halos
  9. Hey Mr. Superstar
  10. Rock N Roll Soldier
  11. X Marks the Spot
  12. Slay the Dragon

Blacklist Union frontman Tony West was raised in the Bronx on The Ramones, Bad Brains, and NYHC. Hearing the call of the wild west, he made his way to Los Angeles at 19 years old.

Tony took a break from L.A. to try out Memphis in 1998. While he was there, he attended the first Saliva gig with Paul Crosby on drums. This marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship between Paul and Tony, leading to management, song collaborations, and guest appearances in a few videos. Tony collaborated with guitarist Todd Youth (Murphy’s Law /Danzig) and Malfunkshun, which was kept active by Andy Wood’s brother Kevin Wood. Andy Wood is Tony’s muse, and he was honored to sing in his hero’s band.

I formed Blacklist Union because I wanted to play music that I wanted to hear, and we put out the first Blacklist Union record, After the Mourning, in 2006. The band’s name comes from getting the best musicians with the worst reputations in town. With a shamanistic blend of Stone Temple Pilots, Guns N’ Roses, Warrior Soul, The Cult, and Mother Love Bone… Blacklist Union was born.

Upcoming Show:
9/13/25 @ Bar Sinister in Hollywood

Tony West -Lead Vocals
Raf Ransom – Lead Guitar
Dee Hayes – Rhythm Guitar
Larry Harwood – Bass
Justin Perez – Drums

SWIM THE CURRENT Release New Single + Video ‘Set It Off’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 8, 2025

The dynamic rock band Swim the Current is excited to announce the release of their latest single, “Set It Off”, via TLG|ZOID, distributed by Virgin Music Group. This incredible new track was co-produced by George Pond and David Caplinger.

Alongside the single, Swim the Current also premiered the official music video for “Set It Off” that was directed by Tom Flynn. The video delivers a spoof on the cult-classic film Point Break, along with the band’s high-octane performance.

It is criminal not to watch it now!

STREAM “Set It Off”: https://ffm.to/stc-set-it-off

The band’s vocalist, Marcos Leal states, “The song defines everything Swim The Current is and the message we carry,  a little bit of Texas country mixed with our heavy metal roots, with an attitude that won’t lay down for anyone. Get on board and enjoy the ride! It’s the echo in the tale you tried to bury, rising soft but sharp through the silence.  A thorn in the story you spun in gold, blooming louder each time you lied.”

The band will be playing The Stone Pony in Asbury, NJ on Friday, October 3rd with Close Enemies.

Bringing together an all-star lineup of rock talents, including vocalist Marcos Leal (formerly of Ill Niño), bassist George Pond (Disciples of Verity), guitarist Greg Antine, drummer Chris Moore (George Lynch, Ultraphonix, Rock of Ages), and lead guitarist Joe Gareri, takes the band’s sound to new heights.

Having played in numerous bands throughout the years, Guitarist Greg Antine came to a point in his career where he wanted to branch out and write songs that had more depth and were inspired by his personal life experiences. Having worked with Bassist George Pond for several years in previous projects including, Disciples Of Verity, Greg expressed his concept for Swim The Current to George in hopes of collaborating with him on this new music venture. The two began to flesh out ideas in George’s home studio and realized quickly that they were on to something special, but still needed something more to see their ideas through to complete their concepts. Greg was introduced to Joe Gareri, Guitar/Keyboards, by George during the Disciples Of Verity debut album recording sessions which Joe is also featured on as a guest artist. The three of them immediately hit it off and worked extremely well together. Greg and George realized that Joe’s cinematic writing style would be a perfect match for their concepts and Joe was then brought in as a full time member. After two songs were completed and demo’d in George’s studio utilizing programmed drums, it was suggested by their friend Allyson Song River Jaynes, that they reach out to her friend, drummer Chris Moore of Ultraphonix, Rock Of Ages, to see if he would be interested in working with the project. Upon hearing the strength of songwriting and musicianship of the band, Chris was all in and signed on as the fourth full time member of STC and now the band, from an instrument’s perspective, was complete.

The final missing piece for STC was a lead vocalist who could capture the sound they envisioned for their music. After working in the studio with a few different vocalists, George ultimately reached out to his friend Marcos Leal, of legendary international touring band Ill Nino. Marcos loved the music of STC as well as having the freedom and creativity of writing lyrics for the project. After recording their first song together with Marcos, “We Are Not The Same”, everyone new that this lineup was something special and Swim The Current was now complete! The release of “We Are Not The Same” took off instantly, and amassed thousands of streams, YouTube views and followers through a total organic DIY social media campaign.

Swim The Current’s sound is influenced and reminiscent of many of their favorite artists including, Deftones, Faith No More, Sevendust, POD, and Stabbing Westward. They continue to write new music and look forward to sharing their future releases with the world!
