Raw, provocative, and uncompromising. ‘No Way Out’ is the new single from URBAN CAIRO, a power trio hailing from Acqui Terme, Italy, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their musical journey with Volcano Records, ahead of their upcoming EP scheduled for release in early December.
A fierce and visceral track where the rebellious urgency of punk collides with the abrasive textures of grunge, the swirling distortions of shoegaze, and the sheer power of stoner rock, giving life to what the band proudly calls super-fuzz. At the heart of No Way Out lies a bitter and disillusioned reflection on the mechanisms through which society shapes individuals, imposing behavioral patterns, predetermined identities, and expectations to conform to. This relentless pressure ultimately suffocates personal freedom, turning the desire to belong into a gradual surrender of one’s authenticity.
The lyrics unfold through fragmented imagery, obsessive repetition, and provocative wordplay, evoking a process of psychological and emotional conditioning from which escape seems increasingly impossible. References to sexual identity, gender roles, and feelings of shame become powerful tools to expose the absurdity of social categories and conventions that seek to dictate what an individual should be. The result is a claustrophobic portrayal of conformity, where anger emerges as the only possible response to a system that appears to leave no way out.
Musically, Urban Cairo channel this tension into a direct, noisy, and deliberately imperfect sonic language. Fuzz-drenched guitars, a relentless rhythm section, and an aggressive attitude create a soundscape deeply rooted in the American alternative rock scene of the 1980s and 1990s, evoking the spirit of bands such as Dinosaur Jr., Mudhoney, and New Bomb Turks.
Yet there is no nostalgia in the Italian trio’s approach. Instead, their music seeks to reclaim the expressive freedom that made alternative rock one of the most authentic forms of musical rebellion. No Way Out captures the full physical impact and immediacy of Urban Cairo’s sound. Guided by a strong do-it-yourself ethos and a fierce commitment to creative independence, the band has developed a distinctive musical identity over the years, freely navigating between garage rock, post-hardcore, grunge, and noise experimentation.
No Way Out therefore offers the first glimpse of the band’s forthcoming EP, expected in early December: a release set to reaffirm the irreverent spirit and uncompromising sonic attitude of a band far more interested in challenging the rules than following the trends.
Finnish modern metal band EVENT RELENTLESS are set to release their brand-new single “Light The Fuse” today on Friday, November 6, 2026. The track is the latest preview of the band’s upcoming full-length album, scheduled for release in early 2027, and continues the band’s evolution toward an even heavier, more ambitious and melodic sound.
Formed in 2013, EVENT RELENTLESS have established themselves on the international underground metal scene through more than 150 live shows across 15 countries. Their music has been described as “hybrid metal” — a distinctive combination of aggressive, hard-hitting guitar riffs, technical musicianship, and massive, melodic choruses.
Following the release of their self-titled EP in 2018 and debut full-length album Circle in 2019, the band has continued to release new music and develop their sound. With their upcoming album, EVENT RELENTLESS are pushing their musical boundaries further than ever before.
Light The Fuse – A New Chapter Begins
“Light The Fuse” is one of the tracks featured on the forthcoming album and offers another glimpse into the direction the band is taking. Building on the foundation established by their previously released singles “The Last Chance,” “Way to You,” and “Closer To The End,” the new single further showcases the band’s blend of modern metal heaviness, aggressive riffing, and strong melodic hooks.
Juho Raita comments on the new single: “This song captures the core elements of Event Relentless’ sound, pairing emotionally driven melodies with heavy riffs that give the track its power and weight.” Bassist Henri Soisalo adds: “We see this song as a snapshot of the band’s new sound.”
The track was mixed by Max Morton, known for his work with bands such as Jinjer, Ignea, and Arch Enemy. Juho Raita continues: “Working with Max on this track was awesome. The mix brings out details we’re really proud of, from the melodic layers to the punch of the heavier parts. Max understood exactly what we wanted to achieve.”
The release marks another step toward the upcoming album, which is currently in the works and expected to arrive in early 2027. One more single is also anticipated ahead of the full-length release.
Commenting on the band’s new musical direction, vocalist and guitarist Juho Raita says: “We are officially working on our next album, and we are pushing our sound further than ever before. For this record, we are focusing on heavy, hard-hitting riffs that make you want to move, combined with massive, catchy melodic choruses. That balance between raw energy and strong melodic hooks is at the heart of the new EVENT RELENTLESS sound.

Portland, Oregon-based one-man blackened doom metal project MIZMOR will return to European shores in May 2027 for a comprehensive EU/UK tour alongside Dragged Into Sunlight and This Gift Is A Curse. The 19-date trek kicks off on May 5 in Vienna, Austria, bringing MIZMOR‘s intensely heavy and existential sound to 10 countries before wrapping up in Liverpool on May 23.

The Metal Voice cuaght up with singer Doro Pesch. More than four decades into her career, Doro Pesch has no intention of slowing down. The German metal icon, affectionately known as the Metal Queen, is preparing to release her new nine-song album, ‘Wild At Heart’ on December 11, 2026. She also revealed plans for a USA/ Canada tour next year.

When asked about the new album ‘Wild At Heart ‘ musical direction
“I just do it and then I hope that people feel as excited as I am, or that they love it, or that they fall in love with some songs. I love anthems and fast songs and ballads. And I think ‘You Are Not Alone’ is like a killer ballad. It is especially for this time now, before Christmas, where everybody feels like the hearts are pretty open. I definitely want to play that live.The nine-song album was originally conceived as a much smaller project. At first, I wanted to do a single, then an EP. Then somebody said, ‘How about a mini album?’ And I said, ‘Hey, I’ll do a whole album. When we played ‘Rock You to Death’ (off new album) live for the first time, everybody was singing along already and they didn’t stop singing. So that was a really good sign.”
When asked about the new song “Remember the Good Times”
“I wrote it with my guitar player, Bill Hudson. He actually sent me the chords and stuff, and then immediately the melody and the message popped out.I think everybody loves to remember maybe the good old ’80s or the ’90s. Man, we were so carefree. You could just care about the music, about the fans. Now I always feel the whole weight of the world is on everybody’s shoulders. It’s gotten so tough. So I love to remember good times.”
When asked about covering a Bonnie Tyler (Jim Steinman) song for a second time on the new album, ‘Holding Out For a Hero’
” I grew up listening to Bonnie Tyler. She was on TV all the time. Also we met all over the world. She was super cool, super funny. She always had this dirty laugh, laughing with her raspy voice. And she had a great sense of humor, really dark, like English dark humor! She was a hell of a woman, and I think her voice was so unique.”
(She went on to talk about first time she covered a Bonnie Tyler song on last album with Judas Priest’s Rob Halford )
“The first time when I met Rob Halford was in Hellfest in France. We were talking, and I could tell he would say, ‘Let’s do something together. When Halford asked what song I wanted to record I said, ‘Well, I would love to do something from the British Steel album. So maybe Living After Midnight.’ He said, ‘Yes, great choice. But Halford had another idea, he said, ‘I would love to do Total Eclipse of the Heart. I always wanted to do that with you.”I said, ‘Wow!’ So we did both on the last Conqueress album, which made me so happy. I was so grateful. So cool.”
When asked about collaborated on the new album with Montreal, Canada born vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, formerly of Arch Enemy.
“Awesome! Awesome! I love her. We performed at my anniversary concert, three songs together
and I think ‘Touch of Evil’ came out so good. And with her growl, I think it fits the song so perfectly for this album. I love that song. It’s the heaviest probably on Wild At Heart and I wanted to maybe use the video you’ve seen on YouTube, but perhaps cut it a little bit better with Alissa.”
When asked if she has any plans for about retirement
“I want to die on stage as long as I do it It’s up to God whenever he wants me. I do it like Lemmy, till the last day. I don’t ever want to quit (retire). As long as you feel healthy, you know, that’s the only thing you need to stay in good shape and healthy.”
When asked how many young people are showing up to her shows.
“Yeah, totally, totally! Some young men came up and said, ‘Oh, Doro, would you like to marry me?’ And then I said, ‘How old are you?’ He said, ‘Yeah, I just turned 17 or 16!'” Laughs and concludes.
I’m married to Metal. I’m married to the fans, to all of them. And to me, that’s the best.”
Long-running experimental indie band Xiu Xiu have never shied away from unleashing their capabilities across other people’s material. Three past albums of cover versions have both baffled and beautified some of the most iconic songs of the past 50 years, including Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer,” Roxy Music’s “In Every Dream Home A Heartache” and “Wild Is The Wind,” the Nina Simone classic that became, in turn, one of David Bowie’s most voluptuous ballads.
Now comes Collective, a gathering not only of past covers, but also a triptych of remixes, as the team get to grips with a couple of lost Robert Calvert tracks, “Marathon Man” and “Over The Moon,” and rising star Thunder Bae’s “mercybeggingboys,” plus a collaboration with The 69 Eyes’ frontman Jyrki 69.
To which we can add Iggy Pop/Siouxsie and the Banshees’s “The Passenger,” Depeche Mode’s “Never Let Me Down Again” and even a slice of Christmas cheer in the form of “Frosty The Snowman,” recorded with guest artist and actress Susanne Sachsse.

In light of their critically-acclaimed new album, today, atmospheric doom metal band TodoMal are releasing an official new live video for “Mare Ignis”. This grand and gloomy performance of the opening song from Graveyards of Joy was recorded during the band’s appearance at Dark Echoes Festival in their native Spain. It arrives ahead of their 2027 European tour with Moonspell and Iotunn.
“Mare Ignis” opens Graveyards of Joy, the closing chapter of a trilogy that TodoMal began with Ultracrepidarian (2021) and continued with A Greater Good (2023). Its lyrics turn on a rising sun, fragile hope and the line ‘only the brave shall rise’. The video presents the song as it is played on stage by the band’s full live line-up: Wildman (Guitars and Vocals), Mile (Bass and Vocals), Javi (Guitars), Bud (Drums) and Cecilia (Synths and Vocals).
TodoMal have shared stages with Candlemass, My Dying Bride and Dødheimsgard at festivals including Be Prog! My Friend, Under The Doom Fest and Frantic Fest. Since the release of Graveyards of Joy, the band have played Resurrection Fest, Party San Open Air and completed a European tour with Evoken.

TodoMal came to life in the year zero of our era, 2020, conceived by Anglo-Spanish musician and composer Christopher B. Wildman and Spanish musician and producer Javier Fernández, two veteran multi-instrumentalists of the Spanish underground whose extensive track record spans a myriad of projects across a wide range of styles.
TodoMal is a product of serendipity: a personal blend of the solemnity of traditional doom metal and the profusion of space rock, with touches of ecclesiastical music, classic hard rock and film soundtracks.
Ultracrepidarian (2021), TodoMal’s first work, was a 38-minute journey of seven hypnotic tracks full of contrasts and surprises, set against the backdrop of the placid, desolate moorlands of northern Alcarria and the Matarraña region (Teruel), two emblematic enclaves of so-called “Empty Spain”.
With A Greater Good (2023), the duo crafted a collection of “dark songs” that grew from the seeds planted on Ultracrepidarian, their debut album, and evolved into a complex, dense and unclassifiable record. It featured high in the end-of-year lists of several publications and received glowing reviews from webzines such as Mondo Sonoro, No Clean Singing, Zwarenmetalen and Metal Revolution, among others. Given the anticipation the album generated, a second edition was issued once the physical copies had sold out. Buoyed by this momentum, and with a growing audience eager to see the band live, the duo began recording their next chapter throughout 2024–2025.
They also established themselves as a live five-piece, joined by Javier Félez (guitars), Javier “Bud” Martínez (drums) and Cecilia Tallo (keyboards / vocals), creating an immersive audio-visual show.
This led to invitations to festivals such as Be Prog My Friend (2024, Barcelona), Under The Doom Fest (2025, Lisbon), Frantic Fest (2025, Abruzzo, Italy) and Okkult Sessions (2025, Barcelona), sharing stages with artists of the calibre of Candlemass, My Dying Bride and Dødheimsgard, among many others.
On 3 July 2026, the band released Graveyards of Joy, their third album via Season of Mist. This pivotal point of six years of career has been very warmly received by both press and public, and was named Album of the Month by Rock Hard France and Underworld Magazine, and got high scores in ‘zines worldwide like Angry Metal Guy (US), Metal Kaoz (US), Ever Metal (UK), Metal Factory (Switz) or Rock Hard Germany, to name a few.
Shortly after the release, on 30 July, the band set out on a European tour with Evoken, beginning in Paris and concluding in Bratislava on 11 August, taking in festivals such as Resurrection Fest (Spain) and PartySan (Germany), among others.
