ABERTOOTH LINCOLN to Release New Single ‘Mother Is God’ on August 29th

Abertooth Lincoln return with their new single ‘Mother is God’, a haunting ballad of abandonment, delusion, and the wreckage cults leave behind. This track is set to drop August 29 and is available for pre-save now via Golden Robot Records.

‘Mother is God’ marks a bold evolution for Abertooth Lincoln. Their first true ballad, the song is a slow-burning meditation on cult leader Amy Carlson – told from the imagined perspective of the child she left behind. It wrestles with the devastating contradiction of a woman who claimed to love the world but couldn’t love her own kid.

Musically, the track stretches Abertooth’s dynamic range: down-tempo and restrained in moments but laced with dissonance and tension that builds to a gripping, cathartic conclusion. Lyrically, it’s intimate and unflinching – capturing the pain of being cast aside while exposing the seductive, hollow nature of cults and the narcissists who lead them. Like many songs on Abertooth Lincoln’s upcoming album, ‘Mother is God’ explores how self-styled prophets often cloak self-interest in spiritual rhetoric, leaving real damage in their wake.

At its heart is a powerful parallel: the child’s yearning for connection mirrors the desperation felt by those who fall under a cult’s spell – a hunger for love and meaning that is met, again and again, with manipulation and betrayal. It’s a song that lingers long after the final note – raw, fearless, and painfully human.

An all-new special edition of Cleopatra Records’ biweekly Pirate Radio Cleopatra lands today, dedicated in its entirety to the mighty Thor.

Available on Mixcloud, YouTube and podcast platforms everywhere, the 35 minute show features Thor discussing every track on his newly released Rock The Universe covers album, a dynamite set that sees the caped crusader dig deep into his own past to recreate 11 of the favorites that populated his live show during his earliest years as a performer.

Mixcloud – https://www.mixcloud.com/CleopatraRecords/pirate-radio-cleopatra-thor-rocks-the-universe/

Touring the Canadian club circuit around the mid-1970s, Thor and his band The Imps (featuring guitarist Frank Soda) nightly interspersed their own originals with crowd-pleasing numbers by The Doors, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Deep Purple, The Sweet, The Beatles, Montrose, Eric Burdon, Muddy Waters, local legends Doucette and even James Taylor… but only once Elvis had got his hands on him.

In conversation with Cleopatra’s Dave Thompson stepping in for regular host and Delaware DJ Lady Crow, Thor reflects on those days, while also discussing why each song – and performer – was special to him. In addition, he not only reveals how The Sweet’s “Action” could have become his very first single, but also that the songs that make up Rock The Universe might easily have become his debut album!

Excerpts from the album accompany his words, both the final released versions and, behind the conversation, never before aired instrumental takes of every track.

Launched in October 2024, Pirate Radio Cleopatra has broadcast over 20 shows – tune in for Cleopatra’s latest releases, old favorites and future classics, plus specials dedicated both to specific genres (the four part Goth Top 100 and the Reggae Top 20) and to individual artists, including Pat Travers and Melanie.

It’s probably safe to say that Thor Rocks The Universe! is the loudest, and most tumultuous edition yet!

Silver Lining Music to release No Life ‘Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All on November 14th. The first single is The Almighty’s blistering, full-throttle cover of Metallica’s legendary “The Four Horsemen”, the band’s first recorded work with their founding lineup since 1991, chosen by the band as both a nod to their roots and a declaration of intent.

Pre-orders available here

“The Four Horsemen – by Metallica – got us back into the studio with the original lineup for the first time since 1991… Unbelievable!” lead singer and guitarist Ricky Warwick exclaims. “When the opportunity presented itself, it was really a no brainer, Metallica have been a huge influence for us… It was a bit nerve-wracking because we had not been in the studio for such a long time. We did the whole thing in a day and a half with as much power and passion as you would expect from The Almighty, it is such a powerful track. I think it turned out great, make sure you turn it up really, really loud!”

Watch/Listen to the first single, “The Four Horsemen” here video edited by Freakshot Film.

No Life ‘Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All is a colossal celebration of the most propulsive debut album in heavy metal history, re-imagined by the legends who inspired it and the generations that came in its wake!

The veteran likes of Saxon, Diamond Head, and Motörhead, (three of Metallica’s favourite bands) are joined by rising stars such as Tailgunner and Swedish prog metallers Soen to create a who’s-who of heavy music, with each performer lending their unique sound to one classic track. Contributions from thrash giants Testament, ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, and New Wave of British Heavy Metal linchpins Tygers of Pan Tang show the label looking beyond their own artists to amass the greatest lineup possible. Joining the super star line-up are the legendary Raven (closing with the thundering anthemic “Metal Militia”) who were part of Metallica’s first-ever tour, 1983’s famous Kill ‘Em All For One venture.

No Life ‘Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All is an ambitious achievement worthy of Metallica’s game-changing legacy. By the fans and for the fans, it reaffirms the Four Horsemen’s ironclad status – and its stacked roster continues the band’s mission to shove metal up your ass.

No Life ‘Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All track-listing:

  1. Hit The Lights (Tailgunner)
  2. The Four Horsemen (The Almighty)
  3. Motorbreath (Soen)
  4. Jump In The Fire (Tygers Of Pan Tang)
  5. (Anesthesia) – Pulling Teeth (David Ellefson)
  6. Whiplash (Motörhead)
  7. Phantom Lord (Saxon)
  8. No Remorse (Diamond Head)

BRUCE DICKINSON: New Solo Album Planned for 2027

In an interview with Charlie Kendall’s Metalshop, Bruce Dickinson revealed his plans for a new solo album. After the highly successful 2024 release The Mandrake Project, things can now continue with fresh energy – but despite the drive and numerous demos, the road to a finished album is still long.

A rough target date of 2027 has been mentioned for the release and an accompanying tour, but the recording schedule is already more concrete. From January to April 2026, there’s a window in which Bruce Dickinson apparently has time alongside his activities as Iron Maiden frontman.

In the conversation, he explains:

“We’re going in the studio in January next year to record the album with Brendan Duffey, who remixed ‘Balls To Picasso’ and did an amazing job. So we go in the studio with him in January, and we are looking to release the album in ’27… The amazing band that is gonna record the new record with me is gonna be the same band that toured in Europe with me, and it’s gonna be the same band that’s gonna tour with me in 2027 when we release the new record. Or at least that’s the idea anyway, to release a new record.”

The singer also goes into how many creative ideas have already flowed into the album; there will definitely be no shortage of material.

Accordingly, we’ll still need a bit of patience before the first results from the studio can be heard. In the meantime, you can watch the complete interview here:

GAEREA Sign with Century Media Records, New Song ‘Submerged’ Out Now

Century Media Records is proud to announce the signing of Portugal’s GAEREA. With a decade behind them, cutting a swath through various shades of darkened metal, they’ve arrived, a beautiful enigma of passion and extremity. Said Britain’s Metal Hammer of GAEREA’s 2024 album, “Coma”: “When they put their cloaked heads down, GAEREA indubitably delivers the goods. The dizzying speed and masterful changes in [songs like] ‘World Ablaze’ are majestic.”

Said GAEREA about their signing with global metal powerhouse, Century Media: “A new era, a new home We are now part of the Century Media Records big family.”

To announce their signing, GAEREA are releasing their first new track with Century Media Records, “Submerged” with its eye-mangling accompanying video:

The track, which was produced by the band and longtime collaborator, Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings, further entwines the thorny branches of musical and emotional possibility that the band has built a sizable reputation on, both live and on record.

GAEREA are currently working on their Century Media debut LP, due for release in early 2026. Recent months have seen them bringing their energized and expressionistic live show to stages all over Europe, headlining to sold out crowds as well as festivals including Czech’s Brutal Assault, Belgium’s Alcatraz and Germany’s Summer Breeze. In October and November, GAEREA will join labelmates, Orbit Culture on the Swedish upstarts’ headline tour of the UK and Europe for their upcoming Century Media debut, “Death Above Life”.

“We are excited to be working with GAEREA and their team,” states Century Media Vice President of A&R, Mike Gitter. “They are a rare band that transcends convenient genres and suggests something deeper on both musical, but also spiritual levels. In many ways, their story is just beginning.”

PARADISE LOST Deliver Goth Metal Masterpiece ‘Tyrants Serenade’

Legends of doom, PARADISE LOST have debuted their riveting 3rd single ‘Tyrants Serenade,’ a 4+ minute goth metal opus of epic proportions and bleak new staple in the band’s celebrated catalog. The standout track is found on their eagerly awaited album Ascension, out September 19th from Nuclear Blast Records.

Giving context to the song, vocalist Nick Holmes says:
“Observing the death of an individual, and subsequently, how the transition of seasons evokes fond memories. The God of Malevolence serves as an internal voice to dismantle those cherished memories and reintroduces the initial anguish of loss.“

On one of their boldest singles to date, PARADISE LOST meld crunchy riffs and soaring guitar melodies with juxtaposing anthemic clean and harsh vocals. The memorable new track is accompanied by a stunning video directed by longtime collaborator Ash Pears (HOST, BLOODBATH, KATATONIA).

In celebration of the new album, PARADISE LOST has also announced a handful of intimate signing sessions and a record release show in Leeds, UK. Tickets are available now at https://tix.to/Ascension.

PARADISE LOST’s first album in 5 years, following 2020’s critically acclaimed Obsidian, was produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed/mastered by Lawrence Mackrory. Ascension is a testament to the band’s longevity and relevance over their 35+ year career, encompassing their signature styles of gothic, death and doom fans have cherished along the way.

Ascension’s album cover fittingly features the painting The Court of Death (1870-1902) by renowned British artist George Frederic Watts, which hangs in the Tate Gallery in London. The painting depicts Death as an enthroned angel flanked by allegorical figures of Silence and Mystery guarding sunrise and the star of hope, while a warrior surrenders his sword and a duke his coronet, showing that worldly status offers no protection. The painting’s bleak, prophetic vision embodies Ascension’s dark, tormented soundscapes as mournful verses collide with dire, foreboding riffs.

Commenting on the record, Holmes states:
“Ascension is a cavalcade of molten misery, a vigorous sorrow filled stroll through a wicked world of glorious triumph and pitiful tragedy.”
