BABYLON A.D. is excited to release the title track and the first single and video from their new album WHEN THE WORLD STOPS. The new album will be released on CD September 1st via Kivel Records. The digital release of the album follows a month later.

Derek Davis, Babylon A.D. lead singer had this to say about the first single, ““When The World Stops” is an apocalyptic love story about two young lovers facing the end of the world. The lyrics are very visual so a listener can really follow the story and the video we have just released conveys the imagery beautifully. I love writing lyrics that have a message and a theme, sort of like a mini movie, and this track I believe really captures the visual I was trying to capture. This song is a nice hard hitting up-tempo kick ass tune. A 100 percent Babylon A.D. track that I’m sure our the fans will love.”

HOODED MENACE Announce New Album “Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration”, Video for ‘Portrait Without a Face’ Out Now

Over the past 20 odd years, Hooded Menace have stood not as a bridge but a pillar between two different realms of underground metal. The cultishly beloved band’s upcoming seventh album is still bound by a morbid obsession with classic horrors. But on Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration, Finland’s stewards of death-doom remain far from stuck in their ways. Lead single “Portrait Without a Face” cranks up the neon-soaked nightmares while digging out a grave new surprise from under their long-sleeve.

Watch below the classic horror video for “Portrait Without a Face”.

The video for “Portrait Without a Face” was directed by Tekla Valy with additional footage filmed by Mikko Saastamoinen.

Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration comes out October 3, 2025 on Season of Mist.

Pre-order
 & Pre-save: https://orcd.co/hoodedmenacelachrymosemonumentsofobscuration

Hooded Menace continue to pave a harrowing path for undying metal legions who crave creepier, crushing tempos. The band’s new single opens with drummer Pekka Koskelo pounding like death’s door. Their flesh-eating muse still looms over Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration. Cover artist Wes Benscoter recreates director Amando de Ossorio’s the Blind Dead in all of the film’s ghoulish glory. But the album hammers home the influence of ’80s heavy metal that was rung in by previous LP The Tritonus Bell. With its conspiratorial web of leads, “Portrait Without a Face” bears a glowing resemblance to King Diamond.

The lasting influence of Candlemass and Paradise Lost hasn’t vanished without a trace, but Hooded Menace continue to break the mold that they’ve set for death-doom. While the bone-crushing riffs of founding member Lasse Pyykkö cement the rock-solid foundation beneath Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration, even he was surprised when sculpting the album’s lead single. Like an echo from beyond the grave, what should appear within “Portrait Without a Face” but the haunted moan of a cello.

“Sucked into the realm of sweet damnation“. Vocalist Harri Kuokkanen growls deep into the dead of night, as if lured down a darkened hallway by former live bassist Antii Poutanen’s sorrowful string saws.

Tracklist
1. Twilight Passages (1:04)
2. Pale Masquerade (7:50)
3. Portrait Without a Face (7:15) [WATCH]
4. Daughters of Lingering Pain (7:25)
5. Lugubrious Dance (7:20)
6. Save a Prayer (6:12)
7. Into Haunted Oblivion (9:47)

For closing in on two decades, Hooded Menace have stood not as a bridge but the pillar between two underground realms. The band’s upcoming seventh album still paves the way for metal legions who prefer headbanging to more creepily, crushing tempos. However, while Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration is still rooted in a cultish obsession with the classics, these stewards of death-doom remain far from stuck in their ways.

Starting as a teenager in the late ’80s, founding member Lasse Pyykkö got his start in Joensuu, Finland with the band Phlegethon. But the undead spirit that’s guided Hooded Menace since its 2007 conception first appeared back when he was just a young hesher. Dracula, Poltergeist, A Nightmare on Elm Street and other horrors piqued his morbid curiosity. Though later on, it was feasting on the cult classic Tombs of the Blind Dead that spawned the band’s accursed two-track demo.

“It’s the dark element”, Lasse recalls when asked what Hooded Menace draws from its source material five albums removed from the band’s terrifying breakthrough Never Cross the Dead.

The blind dead still stand watch over Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration. Returning cover artist Wes Benscoter recreates the Knights Templar in all their glowingly ghoulish glory. “Pale Masquerade” paints a familiar scene, summoning Amando de Ossorio’s flesh-eating muse with a fresh heap of Lasse’s bone-crunching chugs. “The dead army grows“, Harri Kuokkanen commands with growls that reek of the crypt. Lifelong converts will quickly fall in line behind steadfast drummer Pekka Koskelo, who dips “Daughters of Lingering Pain” into the same dripping vat of wax as the band’s 2010s effigies for Relapse Records. The lasting influence of Candlemass and Paradise Lost hasn’t vanished without a trace. But Hooded Menace continue to break the mold they helped set for death-doom right from the album’s opening jump scare. Neon keys beam through “Twilight Passages” as if firing up a time machine.

Reinvention isn’t new to Hooded Menace. While a menacing vocalist in his own right, Lasse passed the proverbial mic torch to Kuokkanen for the gloomier melodies that haunted the band’s initial offering after signing with Season of Mist late in 2016. Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed was also pulled more from the shadows of their imagination as opposed to the silver screen. Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration trends further in that direction; the lyric sheet unfurls like a house of psychological horrors, where the hallways are hung with shattered mirrors and faceless portraits. Only this time around, the trio really hammered home the influence of ’80s heavy metal that was rung in by previous long-player The Tritonus Bell. “Lugubrious Dance” twists between the hallucinogenic spires of Cathedral in conspiracy with King Diamond before cranking into a chorus that’s classic Hooded Menace.

MicroPitching and other effects aren’t the only tricks of the trade that are pulled out from under Hooded Menace’s cloak. Traditional death-doomers might have been pleasantly surprised by the band covering W.A.S.P., so imagine the delighted screams upon hearing a Top of the Pops’ gem like “Save a Prayer” splattered in their signature blood-soaked dread. Lasse’s riffs still cement the rock-solid foundation beneath Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration, but even he was surprised when sculpting its lead single. What should appear from the double bass swirling amidst “Portrait Without a Face” but the moan of a cello. Like an echo from beyond the grave, the cry of strings reappears during the album’s grand finale. Former live bassist Antti Poutanen sorrowfully saws as the band marches, gallops then sinks back “Into Haunted Oblivion”.

On Lachyrmose Monuments of Obscuration, Hooded Menace cast death-doom in a ghostly new light.

Instrumental Rock Virtuoso JON HARRIS Unveils ‘Togetherness’ Playthrough Video

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 6, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: JON HARRIS. Leave a comment

Epictronic proudly presents the latest audiovisual drop from one of instrumental rock’s most compelling new voices: Jon Harris. The Canadian multi-instrumentalist shares the official playthrough video for “Togetherness”, an explosive track lifted from his debut album, Parallel Heart — out now via Epictronic.

“Togetherness’stands as a reflection on human connection, born from the isolation of the pandemic. At its heart, the song contemplates a simple yet profound question: are we okay, as a humanity?”

Based in Edmonton, Jon Harris is fast becoming a name to watch in the modern rock landscape. Parallel Heart positions him as more than just a guitarist — he’s a fully-fledged sonic architect. The album merges blues-soaked hard rock, vintage synth-pop, and funk-inflected grooves into a cohesive and forward-thinking sound. Think Jeff Beck channeling Prince with a cinematic twist.

Though entirely instrumental, Parallel Heart speaks volumes. The compositions — from the pulsing urgency of “Togetherness” to the retro sparkle of “97BPM” — form a loose narrative about the tension between connection and chaos, between creative drive and real-world demands. Each track offers its own emotional arc, powered by Harris’s multi-instrumental mastery (he handles guitar, drums, bass, piano, and production duties himself).

HOWLING GIANT Release First New Single ‘Canyons’ & Details of Forthcoming Album “Crucible & Ruin”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 6, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: HOWLING GIANT. Leave a comment

HOWLING GIANT drop the gloriously catchy ‘Canyons‘ from the cosmic stoner metal trio’s forthcoming album “Crucible & Ruin“. The third full-length by the Nashville, Tennessee band is scheduled for release on October 31, 2025, via Magnetic Eye Records.

HOWLING GIANT comment: “Our new album’s opening track ‘Canyons’ is a fast paced exploration of a planet abandoned by its celestial origin“, guitarist and singer Tom Polzine writes. “To me, this song feels like a transforming adventure unfolding with each riff, from high gain rhythmic passages to the shimmering acoustic outro. We’re so stoked to show you guys this first glimpse of our new record, and ‘Canyons’ is in many ways the perfect gateway to all the ideas and concepts that live within ‘Crucible & Ruin’.”

Tracklist

  1. Canyons
  2. Hunter’s Mark
  3. Archon
  4. Lesser Gods
  5. Beholder I: Downfall
  6. Archivist
  7. Scepter and Scythe
  8. Melchor’s Bones
  9. The Observatory
  10. Beholder II: Labyrinth

HOWLING GIANT take another huge step on their third full-length “Crucible & Ruin”, a collection of sparking ideas, captivating melodies, and heavy riffing close to perfection – quite a feat of on-point songwriting for such a still young band!

This is the band’s first album to feature new fourth member Adrian Lee Zambrano. Although the guitarist and synth player arrived somewhat toward the end of the writing process, he was still able to add his mark with cool textures on the record. The extra guitar certainly adds even more punch to HOWLING GIANT‘s sound, which delivers a slightly more aggressive approach compared with predecessor “Glass Future” (2023).

It also helped the overall feel of “Crucible & Ruin” that this is the band’s first album to be entirely recorded in a proper studio setting as opposed to their home studio, “the bunker”. HOWLING GIANT even leaned into some raw band live takes to capture the emotion in the room.

Lyrically, “Crucible & Ruin” explores the story of the clash of a novice deity against the forces of primordial chaos as an overarching theme that loosely connects the songs. This is also reflected in the album artwork, which was painted by the mother of guitarist and vocalist Tom Polzine, featuring a unique style of alcohol ink on yupo paper.

Line-up
Tom Polzine – guitar, vocals
Zach Wheeler – drums, vocals
Sebastian Baltes – bass, vocals
Adrian Lee Zambrano – guitars, synthesizers

Guest musicians
Kim Wheeler – additional synths and EWI on ‘The Observatory’
Adam Nohe – additional percussion on ‘Beholder I: Downfall’

Produced by Neil Tuuri, Kim Wheeler, and James Sanderson
Engineered by Neil Tuuri at Amish Electric Chair Studios, Athens, OH (US)
Additional vocal tracking by Kim Wheeler in Nashville, TN (US)
Mixed by Neil Tuuri at Amish Electric Chair Studios, Athens, OH (US)
Mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Mastering, Portland, OR (US)

Artwork by Susan M. Davies
Layout by Łukasz Jaszak

HOWLING GIANT hail from Nashville, Tennessee, USA, sidestepping the self-proclaimed Music City’s assembly line of modern pop country while taking inspiration from the brilliant songwriters and virtuoso session players that keep the town’s musical legacy burning bright. Fertile ground for a preeminent fuzz-psych power trio, now turned quartet, who consciously live in the pocket of that lineage!

Following a trilogy of EPs, “Howling Giant” (2015), “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 1” (2016), and “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 2” (2017), HOWLING GIANT struck a chord with critics and fans on their debut full-length “The Space between Worlds” in 2019. “Glass Future” proved a gargantuan leap for the band that now featured Sebastian Baltes, son of legendary ACCEPT bass master Peter Baltes. Released in 2023, “Glass Future” brought their outstanding musicianship and triple vocal attack fully into stride.

HOWLING GIANT storm forward once more in defiant refusal to remain still. Having grown into a four-piece as well as in their prowess as musicians and songwriters, “Crucible & Ruin” is an album at least as big as their name. Don’t take our word for it, just give it a spin – or two or three…

ELETTRA STORM to Release New Album “Evertale” on October 24th

Elettra Storm will release the new album “Evertale” on October 24 through Scarlet Records.

Elettra Storm took the power metal scene by… storm with the flawless 2024’s debut album “Powerlords”. Now they made a huge step forward, though, and the sound of “Evertale” is even more defined and cohesive.

Every band’s member had the chance to get the spotlight with his own style and personality, and the songs are more technical: some carry a proggy flavor, some other bring on the table the fury of speed power metal – but all of them are direct and catchy at the same time, with soaring melodies that will linger in the brain since the first spin and another stellar performance by charismatic frontwoman Crystal Emiliani.

Lyrically-wise, “Evertale” is a chest of wonders – like Micheal Ende’s “Neverending Story”, this record is a thrilling celebration of storytelling: each song tells its own story indeed, and the listener will find the drama of war, the desire for revenge, the journey of a hero, the mysteries of the ancient ones and much more.
