CAR BOMB Release New Single And Video ‘Blindsides’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on July 13, 2025

Founded in 2000, Car Bomb celebrate their 25th year with the release of a new EP Tiles Whisper Dreams which will be out 1st August, 2025. Consisting of three new tracks, Tiles Whisper Dreams is the band’s first new music to be released since 2019’s Mordial album. The band have released the second track ‘Blindsides’ which is now streaming, below.

Pre-order the EP here: https://carbomb.bandcamp.com/album/tiles-whisper-dreams

Car Bomb guitarist Greg comments on the video: “The idea behind the ‘Blindsides’ video was to create a vibe of montage or fake trailer for a fictitious 80s animated movie where the visuals match what is going on with the music. Some of the inspiration behind it was Akira, Aeon Flux, Studio Ghibli and David Lynch.”

About the track, Greg continues: “‘Blindsides’ is the most unique sounding song on Tiles Whisper Dreams and for me sounds most like the song I’ve been trying to write for the past 25 years: lots of heavy riffs made from unique guitar sounds played over tricky but groovy rhythms punctuated by moments of shoegaze bliss. It’s such a cliche but I really tried to take listeners on a journey with this one, and I can’t wait to see them take the ride when we play it live through a huge festival PA.“

In a genre built on shock and awe, it is tough to be shocking or awe-inspiring these days. With metal in its sixth decade, making an impact is an increasingly difficult feat. The ceiling is red with the blood of straight-line shredders futilely competing for the attention of desensitized ears.

Car Bomb is that rare metal band that have found a pathway through the ceiling – a wormhole, if you will – and have occupied a position of radical transcendence for a quarter-century now. In their 25 years of existence, the New York City-area quartet have been sculpting their own signature sound and cementing their identity as an outlier, above the fray, inspiring a legion of younger musicians in the process.

Car Bomb‘s sound is that of perpetual transformation: a spiraling flurry of rhythm and texture that congeals, fleetingly, into planet-pulverizing death-grooves and fragments of haunting melodies. Baffling rhythmic modulations and deep-space guitar effects appear to warp time completely. Disorientation is the rule, not the exception.

“Their psychotic turbo-thrash is disgustingly disorienting,” reads one Kerrang! review. “One relentless onslaught of time-chopping violence.“

A Stereogum review describes the style as “a rhythmically abstruse variety of extreme metal… hallucinatory time-stretching.“

Car Bomb guitarist Greg Kubacki puts it like this: “When someone asks me what we sound like, I always ask them ‘what’s the heaviest band you listen to?’ and then I say it’s either 10x, 100x, or 1,000x crazier than that, depending on their answer. We aspire to create our own style of heavy music by bending everything: the notes, time signatures, tempos, sonic quality of the guitars, etc. We’re always pushing and pulling everything, ripping ideas apart and then squashing them back together. And as a result our songs might sound chaotic at first, but as they progress the patterns, grooves, and motifs embedded inside all of the mangling and warping will reveal themselves and evolve in unexpected ways. Most people won’t get that deep into our stuff and will just hear a pile of noise, which is fine with us. We’re creating the kind of music we want to hear and that’s all we care about.”

Track-list:
1. Blindsides
2. Paroxysm
3. Tiles Whisper Dreams

ROCKHARZ Festival 2026: Sold Out in Record Time

ROCKHARZ 2025 is history. While the festival site is slowly being transformed back into an airfield, the anticipation for 2026 is already growing. The huge demand once again exceeded all expectations and underlines the festival’s firm place in the European metal scene. Thousands of fans have once again shown what makes the ROCKHARZ community so special: solidarity, passion, and the unbridled anticipation for four days of metal at the foot of the Harz Mountains.

But looking back on the 2025 festival days also fills the organizer with joy and gratitude: accompanied by the best possible weather, 25.000 fans celebrated to Heaven Shall Burn, King Diamond, Powerwolf, Saxon, In Extremo and many more at the peaceful, exciting festival with its unique atmosphere, where in addition eight civil wedding ceremonies were held this year.

The new arrival and traffic concept proved to be a great success, with the average waiting time being significantly reduced compared to previous years according to the guests’ feedback. On-site briefings were held at the camping areas with the support of a live drone stream for all law enforcement officers. Guests were able to revitalize themselves at around 45 food and drink stands as well as brace themselves against the heat with the help of over 85 fresh water taps; while behind the scenes, 600-700 helpers ensured a smooth and safe festival experience.

Another milestone this year, which is unique in the German festival landscape, was reached on a matter close to the hearts of the organizer, namely in the area of inclusion: Not only did the number of guests in the inclusion camp increase from 200 last year to 320 this year – once again proving ROCKHARZ’s extraordinary commitment in this area – the “ROCKHARZ Kompass” app was also successfully introduced. It uses turn-by-turn navigation to guide you, for example, from your own tent to stands or POIs on the site, and provides information such as the running order or prices of almost all the food stands. Originally intended as an app for people with visual impairments, it turned out to actually have a real additional value for all festival visitors.

The first highlights of ROCKHARZ 2026 (July 1 to 4, 2026) were announced while still on site – and, as always, they are impressive: HELLOWEEN, ALICE COOPER, EMPEROR, KNORKATOR, SUBWAY TO SALLY, AGNOSTIC FRONT, KATAKLYSM, BIOHAZARD, ANNISOKAY, DOMINUM, BETONTOD, FINNTROLL, SOULBOUND, EX DEO, GOTHMINISTER, MOTORJESUS, STAHLMANN, HAGGEFUGG, DIE HABENICHTSE and FINAL CRY will be there, among others.

Polka Punks THE DREADNOUGHTS Return with New Single ‘Sierra’ from Upcoming Album “Polka Pit”

With the release of their new single “Sierra,” out Friday, July 11th via Punkerton Records, folk-punk legends The Dreadnoughts deliver a haunting sea shanty soaked in longing, lore, and a hint of vengeance. The track is the second single from their upcoming full-length album Polka Pit, due out September 19th, and continues their tradition of masterfully blending folk storytelling with riotous punk energy.

“‘Sierra’ combines two of the greatest musical genres: the sea shanty and the murder ballad,” says vocalist Nicholas Smyth. “It’s a tale of a lovesick sailor who makes a very bad decision.”

The song’s rousing chorus and gritty narrative beg for pub-wide singalongs, making “Sierra” an instant classic in the band’s growing catalog of maritime punk anthems.

The Dreadnoughts—now based in New York but with deep roots in Vancouver—have spent nearly two decades fusing sea shanties, polkas, tarantellas, and street punk into their own explosive brand of folk-punk. Their upcoming album Polka Pit is a defiant celebration of resistance, tradition, and chaos—a soundtrack for the end of the world and the beginning of something new.

“Polka Pit is a tribute to the magic of punk rock and the power of traditional polka,” says Smyth.

Known for their electrifying live shows, the band will celebrate the album’s release with a blowout performance at Skully’s Music Diner in Columbus, OH on September 19. Tickets on sale now, here!

KHROMA to Release Fourth Album in Autumn, First Single ‘Catch The Whip’ Out Now

Catch The Whip, Khroma‘s first single from their fourth album to be released in October 2025 showcases a renewed side to the Helsinki-based alternative/electro-metal band’s sound. Hip hop and drum’n bass influences have been brought to the surface, and electro elements have been added to give a 2020s feel.

Khroma’s sound of low-pitched grooves, cinematic machine elements and vocal performances from soloist Riku Rinta-Seppälä‘s whispering to screaming is still recognisable, but Catch The Whip twists the single knobs with its catchiness.

Formed in 2010, Khroma has released three albums and toured Europe more than 10 times. The band’s fourth self-titled album will be released in October 2025.

Austrian glam metal rockers Mädhouse release their hotly-anticipated, new studio album “Plead The Fifth” via ROAR. Now available on CD, limited Vinyl (incl. signed photocard) and in Digital formats, you can order your favorite choice of format via: https://madhouse.rpm.link/pleadthe5thPR

Formed in 2017 by Mikky Stixx, Mädhouse‘s origins trace back to a spontaneous Hard N’ Heavy show, where 18 rock musicians gathered, leading to the band’s creation. Drawing inspiration from legendary acts like Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, and Ratt, Mädhouse blends the raw energy of classic glam metal with a modern hard rock edge. Their sound is unmistakable—gritty riffs, anthemic choruses, and an unapologetic attitude that demand attention. Since their debut, the band has continuously evolved while staying true to their wild, rebellious spirit.

The band’s first album, “Money Talks Bullshit Walks” (2019), introduced their high-energy style, followed by “Bad Habits” (2021), a more polished and aggressive follow-up. They further refined their sound with “Down ‘N’ Dirty” (2022), and now, their latest release, “Plead The Fifth”, pushes the boundaries even further with heavier riffs, bolder lyrics, and an electrifying presence!

Known for their explosive live performances and larger-than-life stage presence, Mädhouse continues to captivate audiences worldwide. The current line-up features Tommy Lovelace on vocals, Mikky Stixx and Thommy Black on guitars and backing vocals, Rickey Dee on bass, and Bobby B Bastard on drums. Together, they keep the spirit of glam metal alive, delivering high-octane rock that never backs down. With “Plead The Fifth”, they prove once again that glam metal is far from dead — it’s louder, bolder, and wilder than ever. Turn up the volume, join the madness, and let rock ‘n’ roll reign!
