After joining forces with Mystic Production, Massacre Records has finally revealed its forthcoming release schedule (find it here), starting with the long-awaited, new studio album by Germany-based death metal powerhouse Call of Charon!

Tales of Tragedy is slated for a release on August 1, 2025, pre-order options will be available soon.

A lyric video for the band’s first single, “The Demon King” featuring Damien Moyal (As Friends Rust), is now premiering below. Call of Charon reveal:

” The Demon King marks the first single from our upcoming album and serves as a fierce reminder of the band’s roots. A straightforward, hard-hitting track, that stands out with crushing riffs and a relentlessly brutal chorus.

Lyrically, the song introduces the “Demon King” as the embodiment of life’s darkest threats. Fueled by the full spectrum of negative emotions, it’s time to confront and eliminate this menace once and for all.”

Tales of Tragedy was written during dark times. After the global pandemic subsided, each band member was forced to confront personal struggles — from the loss of loved ones and broken relationships to health issues and uncertain jobs. Meanwhile, the world itself grew visibly colder and more bitter. These experiences shaped deeply serious and emotionally charged lyrics, leaving little room for feel-good moments or happy endings.

Musically, the album picks up where the band’s 2022 EP, The Sound Of Silence, left off. While signature breakdowns remain a staple, Tales of Tragedy introduces a heavier dose of death metal, alongside new elements like black metal-inspired tremolo riffs and more melodic arrangements. The result is a darker, more dynamic evolution of the band’s sound.

With mixing and mastering handled by Stephan Hawkes — known for his work with bands like Attila and Chelsea Grin — the album not only features guest appearances by Dane Evans (To The Grave), Hagen Petschat (Ruins of Perception) and Damien Moyal (As Friends Rust), but also marks the most refined and powerful production Call of Charon has ever had. Tales of Tragedy is set to push the band to the next level — and it’s just the beginning!

egendary drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, The Winery Dogs) joins forces once again with emerging rock band Last Second Chance to unleash a powerful reinterpretation of “Roxanne” by The Police – recorded at none other than Studio 606, home of the Foo Fighters and their iconic Sound City Neve 8028 analog console.

This bold take on the classic track merges Portnoy’s explosive rhythmic style with the band’s rock sensibility, creating a raw and urgent rendition that honors the original while forging something unmistakably fresh. The release is accompanied by a music video shot entirely at Studio 606, capturing the rare energy of all musicians performing live together in one of the most iconic rock studios in the world.

Following their debut original single “Send Me A Sign,” the band continues to make waves by bringing together one of rock’s most revered drummers with two up-and-coming Italian rockers crafting the kind of sound that has been missing from the modern rock landscape.

Now available on all major streaming platforms, “Roxanne” is the second release from the band’s debut EP, “Past Forward – Part 1,” a collection of long-shelved songs now fully realized – with Part 2 already in the works.

SINSAENUM Release Second Single + Video ‘Last Goodbye’ from Upcoming Album

Extreme metal supergroup Sinsaenum now offers a second taste of their upcoming studio album ‘In Devastation’, with the release of their crushing new single, ‘Last Goodbye,’through earMUSIC.

This Album marks the band’s first new material since the tragic passing of legendary drummer Joey Jordison (Slipknot, Murderdolls) in 2021. Both the singles and album serve as a cathartic tribute to Jordison and to guitarist and founder Frédéric Leclercq’s (Kreator, Ex-Dragonforce) late father, whose deaths profoundly shaped the emotional and creative direction of the project.

The new single ‘Last Goodbye’ among other Songs, showcases the band’s musical and emotional evolution, from raw aggression to haunting reflection. Leclercq describes the latter as ‘the most personal we’ve done’.

“I was devastated, hence the title of this album,” Leclercq explains. “But we knew we had to carry on. This record is our tribute to my father, to Joey, and to anyone who’s ever had to find strength in their darkest moments.”

‘In Devastation’ is a ten-track tour de force of blackened death metal infused with Sinsaenum’s signature melodic ferocity and experimental edge. Produced and mixed by acclaimed German audio engineer Lasse Lammert, the album explores new sonic territory for the band, blending intricate progressive elements, clean vocals, and even cello—without ever compromising their brutal core.

Joining Leclercq on this latest chapter are returning members Attila Csihar (Mayhem), Sean Zatorsky (Dååth), Stéphane Buriez (Loudblast), and Heimoth (Seth). Stepping in behind the kit is Andre Joyzi, formerly Jordison’s tech and a trusted member of the band’s touring family—chosen not only for his skills, but for the emotional connection he brings to continuing Jordison’s legacy.

Following the critically acclaimed Echoes of “the Tortured” (2016) and Repulsion for ‘Humanity’ (2018), In Devastation cements Sinsaenum’s place at the vanguard of modern metal—a band forged in grief but fueled by defiance.

As part of the upcoming ‘Rapture of the Deep – 20th Anniversary Remix’, Deep Purple today release a newly mixed and remastered version of ‘Clearly Quite Absurd’, accompanied by a previously unreleased instrumental studio rehearsal take of ‘MTV’, through earMUSIC.

Roger Glover recalls in 2025: “’Clearly Quite Absurd’ is a very unusual Deep Purple song, which I like. We’ve always liked being unusual. We don’t follow traditions, really. We are just who we are at a specific time.”

LISTEN TO REMIXED ‘CLEARLY QUITE ABSURD’ HERE

The single’s B-side, ‘MTV (2005 Studio Jam)’, is a previously unheard instrumental take from an early rehearsal session – with Don Airey, Steve Morse, Roger Glover and Ian Paice running through a track that later appeared as a bonus on select editions of Rapture of the Deep.

The single is a preview of the Rapture of the Deep – 20th Anniversary Remix, [out worldwide on August 29], which includes a brand-new mix of the full album, revised artwork, and a bonus disc filled with rare studio rehearsals and instrumental jams.

The album will be available as 2CD Digipak, 3LP Vinyl (black, 180g), and the strictly limited 3LP Transparent Sky-Blue Vinyl.

With Deep Purple riding high on the success of their latest No. 1 record ‘=1’, the time is right to (re)discover the album that set the path for Deep Purple in the 21st century.

SANGUISUGABOGG Return with New Album “Hideous Aftermath”, Out October 10th, NSFW Video ‘Abhorrent Contraception’ Out Now

Ohio’s boundary-pushing brutalists Sanguisugabogg — Cody Davidson, drum; Drew Arnold, guitars/bass; Devin Swank, vocals; and Ced Davis, guitars/bass — are back and more putrid than ever.

Today, the band has announced the new album Hideous Aftermath, out October 10 via Century Media. Pre-order it here.

The ‘Bogg have also shared the video for “Abhorrent Contraception.” The song features Josh Welshman from Defeated Sanity. Watch it below (NSFW)

“As a death metal band diving deep in dark tropes of fantasy and exaggerated real life horrors, this song is a timeless classic with a theme very tried and true with our genre and it’s about the slaughter of an entire family and the unborn,” says Sanguisugabogg.

About the album as a whole, Swank states, “It’s definitely our most death metal record, our most personal record, our most focused and brutal record to date.”

Known for being THAT band with the unpronounceable name and unreadable logos, the ‘Bogg have made a record as gore-obsessed and violence-inclined as any of their prior works, including Tortured Hole (2021) and Homicidal Ecstasy(2023), but with a career-defining command over their ugly art.

Says Swank, “It’s the one where we rolled our sleeves up and brought our A-Game.”

Hideous Aftermath is the work of a band who has already cut a bloody swath into the underground and beyond. Sanguisugabogg have emerged from the sweat and grime of countless U.S. and international tours with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Lorna Shore, and Kublai Kahn as well as festival slots and their own headline runs. They’ve ensnared scores of new converts to their brand of the brutally absurd.

Now in 2025, the ‘Bogg’s third full length leaves any “caveman death metal” tags in the dust. This is the sound of Sanguisugabogg flexing every muscle they have.

Enlisting producer Kurt Ballou (Nails, High on Fire) the ‘Bogg decamped to God City Studios in Salem, Massachusetts in the Spring of 2025. “We got off the road after A LOT of touring and wanted to drill down and be as purely creative as possible without distraction,” says Swank of the band’s decision to work with the Converge guitarist in Witch City. “Kurt mixed Homicidal Ecstasy, so he already understood what we were going for.”

While Sanguisugabogg have long been self-produced with Davidson handling production duties, this time, they put their sonic trust fully in Ballou’s hands.

With Hideous Aftermath, Sanguisugabogg have proven themselves more than just an eccentric death crew on an acid-addled hateroll. They’re both champions of the underground and a musical force unto themselves. “Eight or nine years ago, it seemed like what we were doing was pretty niche,” Swank admits. “Where we’ve come, some of the rooms and festivals we’ve played is kind of remarkable.” Big swings including recent appearances on more “mainstream” rock festivals including Columbus’ Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona, Florida, were never on the ‘Bogg boys’ charter underground agenda.

“I think we were a band that was set up to do nothing or a lot of something,” Swank concludes. “Why ‘normies’ ever ended up liking it was weird. Who knows? Maybe we made pain and suffering fun.”

HIDEOUS AFTERMATH TRACK LISTING:

“Rotted Entanglement”
“Felony Abuse of a Corpse” (Feat. Peeling Flesh)
