EMBRACE OF SOULS Sign with Rockshots Records for Release of New Concept Album “The Battle Of The Dead”

Rockshots Records is proud to announce its signing of Embrace Of Souls for the release of their new concept album “The Battle Of The Dead,” due out in 2026.

Founded by drummer and composer Michele Olmi, Embrace Of Souls has forged a solid identity within the Italian power metal scene by blending classic ’80s and ’90s heavy and power metal foundations with epic and symphonic influences. After the releases of “The Number Of Destiny” and “Forever Part Of Me”, the band reached a natural turning point, choosing to move forward with renewed focus, strengthened artistic vision, and fresh creative energy.

This new chapter is also marked by an updated line-up compared to previous albums. Giacomo Rossi, already involved in earlier recordings, now takes on a central role as lead vocalist, joined by Martina Mazzeo as soprano vocalist. Their combined vocal approach broadens the band’s expressive range, reinforcing the balance between driving power metal intensity and refined symphonic elegance that defines Embrace Of Souls’ current sound.

The journey continues with “Desolate Lands”, the upcoming single taken from the new concept album “The Battle Of The Dead“.

For fans of: Rhapsody Of Fire, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish.

BIOGRAPHY:

Embrace Of Souls is an Italian power metal band founded by drummer and composer Michele Olmi, conceived with the aim of bringing together talented musicians around a shared vision rooted in collaboration, brotherhood, and a deep passion for classic metal. Initially born as a studio project, the band took shape with the release of their debut album “The Number Of Destiny” in 2021, receiving positive feedback on an international level and notable acclaim in Japan.

Drawing inspiration from ’80s and ’90s heavy and power metal, as well as the epic and symphonic metal of the early 2000s, Embrace Of Souls developed a sound characterized by powerful riffs, epic atmospheres, and strong melodic sensibility. Over time, the project evolved into a full live band, allowing the group to further consolidate its artistic identity and deepen its expressive range.

In 2024, Embrace Of Souls returned with their second full-length album, “Forever Part Of Me,” marking a significant step forward in terms of maturity and songwriting. This phase also introduced important changes within the line-up, bringing renewed energy and a broader musical perspective to the band’s sound.

A key element of this evolution is the current vocal pairing. Giacomo Rossi, already involved in previous releases, now takes on a central role as lead vocalist while Martina Mazzeo, an accomplished soprano vocalist, adds a symphonic and operatic dimension to the band’s music. Together, their voices embody the duality that defines Embrace Of Souls: light and darkness, power and elegance, intensity and emotion.

Having shared the stage with renowned acts such as Domine, Vision Divine, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica and Rhapsody Of Fire, Embrace Of Souls continue to refine their identity while looking toward the future. The band is now working on new material, further developing their epic and narrative-driven approach with the goal of solidifying their presence on the international power metal scene.

MASSACRE Reveal Plans for “Best-of” Compilation Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 17, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Massacre. Leave a comment

Florida death metal legends MASSACRE return to their roots with plans for a brutal new compilation that revisits and reclaims some of the most iconic material from their catalog. This release features freshly re-recorded versions of select standout tracks from “From Beyond” LP and the classic “Inhuman Condition” EP, delivering them with modern production while preserving the savage spirit that helped define early Florida death metal.

Rather than simply remastering the originals, MASSACRE has chosen to fully re-record these songs, breathing new life into fan favorites with heavier tones, tighter performances, and an unmistakably aggressive edge. The result is a compilation that bridges eras—honoring the raw, primal energy of the early ’90s while presenting the material with the clarity and power expected from contemporary extreme metal recordings.

This best-of collection serves both longtime fans and new listeners alike: a definitive entry point into MASSACRE’s legacy, and a celebration of songs that helped shape death metal’s most formative years. Ferocious, uncompromising, and unapologetically brutal, this release proves that Massacre’s influence is as lethal now as it was decades ago.

Kam Lee comments: “I understand that re-recording these songs may make some fans uncomfortable. These tracks come from a specific time in our history, and nothing can ever replace the original recordings. Those versions are sacred, and they will always be there for fans to go back to. This was never about erasing the past or trying to outdo it. It comes from respect—for the songs, for the fans, and for what this music has meant over the years. This release is simply a celebration of those classic tracks, revisited with the experience, passion, and intensity that still drives us today. The originals remain untouched. This exists alongside them, not instead of them. This release is about honoring that legacy – revisiting songs that still mean everything to me and that still burn just as fiercely today. To the fans who have stood by Massacre all these years: this is for you. Take it as it’s intended—not as a replacement, but as a celebration. Thank you for keeping this music alive.”

MASSACRE is also scheduled to perform live and re-record the entirety of the MANTAS “Death By Metal” demo. As part of a significant music legacy initiative, MASSACRE will bring to life the demo and other MANTAS classics, which have not been performed live for over 43 years. The first show the band will be performing this event at is the Kill-Town Death Fest XI in Denmark.

Kam Lee: “I’m extremely proud of the material we’ve created. Throughout my career, I’ve consistently felt proud of the legacy and music that Mantas and Death produced. These songs hold a significant place in the history and culture of death metal’s origins. I appreciate the collaborative work we accomplished and recognise it as a substantial part of my legacy, similar to those who contributed to its creation. As Massacre brings these classics to the forefront, our objective is to pay homage to this material through live performances and re-recordings, thus securing its lasting impact. I’m cognisant that my perspective won’t be universally shared, and some individuals may hold unfavourable opinions. However, I don’t invest time in trying to alter the opinions of those with preconceived notions about me, deeming it an exercise in futility. My primary focus is on showcasing this material in a positive light, leveraging the expertise of top-notch musicians to execute these songs impeccably. As always I thank my fans and those who have supported me through out my journey all these years. Thank you!”

Tour dates: 03.09-06.09.2026: Kill-Town Deathfest XI, Denmark

Line-up:
Kam Lee – vocals
Mike Borders – bass
Jonny Pettersson – guitars
Rogga Johansson – guitars
Jon Rudin – drums

DEOS Unveil Epic Music Video for ‘Caesar Divi Filiu’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 17, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: DEOS. Leave a comment

Extreme metal warriors DEOS return with the official music video for “Caesar Divi Filius,” a standout track taken from their latest album Augustus Omnipotens, out now via Wormholedeath.

Conceived alongside the song itself, the video is the result of a long-term vision that began taking shape in late 2024. Directed by David (Dax Studio), it brings DEOS’ sonic universe into a striking historical frame, where ritual, discipline, and power collide. The result is direct, intense, and rooted in symbolism.

To achieve this level of authenticity, DEOS once again joined forces with Lorica Romana (LEGIO X), one of France’s leading Roman reenactment groups. The video was filmed in the monumental Arena of Nîmes, a site closely tied to the legacy of Augustus. The setting is not a backdrop—it’s part of the story. Stone, steel, and bodies in motion echo the themes of authority, lineage, and destiny that define the track.

“Caesar Divi Filius” reflects a key chapter in the narrative arc of Augustus Omnipotens. The album is a full conceptual work tracing the rise of Octavian, from the aftermath of Julius Caesar’s assassination to the establishment of imperial rule and the Pax Romana. Each song captures a decisive moment, driven by DEOS’ visceral blend of blackened death metal, where precision and brutality serve the story.

Augustus Omnipotens is available on all digital platforms worldwide: orcd.co/augustusomnipotens – CD format: www.auralwebstore.com/deos-augustus-omnipotens

About DEOS:

Formed in 2014 by Fabio Battistella, Jack Graved, and Loïc Depauwe, DEOS have built a reputation for combining the ferocity of extreme metal with a passion for Ancient Rome that extends through their lyrics, artwork, and stagecraft. Their debut Ghosts of the Empire arrived in 2015, followed by In Nomine Romae in 2017 and extensive touring across France, Switzerland, and beyond. In 2021 they began work on their third record Furor Belli, mastered by J.-F. Dagenais (Kataklysm, Ex Deo) and released in 2022 via Wormholedeath, which led to the North Imperial Tour MMXXII. Over the past years they have continued to spread their vision of Roman metal across Europe, including London’s legendary Cart & Horses.

Now, with Augustus Omnipotens, DEOS take their concept further than ever before. Recorded between autumn 2024 and spring 2025 and once again mastered by Dagenais, the album is both a celebration of Rome’s past and a declaration of the band’s future.

DEOS are: Jack “Janus” Graved (bass, vocals), Fabio Battistella (guitar, backing vocals), Cédric “Cedd” Boehm (guitar, backing vocals), and Loïc Depauwe (drums).

THY CATAFALQUE Release Full Video of Sold-Out Performance at Dürer Kert

From the very beginning, Thy Catafalque had a vision that extended beyond borders and boundaries. Over the past two decades, Hungarian mastermind Tamás Kátai has turned what was once just a studio project into a one-of-a-kind live act.

“XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek is a feast for the ears”, New Noise wrote in a 5 star review of Thy Catafalque’s latest opus. “[it’s] a celebration of the powers of music, bursting to express itself in whatever form it chooses to inhabit. An album to inexorably fall in love with”.

Now, fresh off their debuts at Hellfest, Rockstadt Extreme, Alcatraz and other European festivals, Thy Catafalque are embarking on their second headlining tour of Europe. The tour starts in Hungary on March 14 with two special performances of their eighth album Geometria. It ends in August with appearances at Burn Fest Open Air and Brutal Assault Festival.

As Kátai and his ever-growing cast of collaborators prepare to capture the collective imagination of crowds from the United Kingdom and France to the Czech Republic and Slovakia alongside Bong-Ra and Toward The Throne, today, Thy Catafalque are releasing the full video of last year’s sold-out performance at Hungary’s legendary underground venue Dürer Kert.

“This is a massive step-up for Thy Catafalque”, Kátai says. “We are very excited to play for our fans in places where we’ve never gone before”.

XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek (The Beautiful Dreams Are Yet to Come) is out now on Season of Mist.  Order & Stream here.

No matter the place and time, Thy Catafalque take their crowd on a journey into both the past and present. Their set at Dürer Kert opens with three songs off the recently reissued Rengeteg, which span the fiercely avant-garde (“Vashegyek”), hip-shaking prog (“Az eső, az eső, az eső”) and headbanging blast beats ( “Minden test fű”).

Out from those misty yet familiar shadows, A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek appears with two songs that are quick to charm fans of Thy Catafalque. Blackened chugger “Vasgyár” forges full speed ahead like the rusted-out iron works that once fueled the Hungarian economy, while the chilling “Ködkirály” brings the evening to a close somewhere between dreams and nightmares. Cosmic synths rise like fog beneath a sinking moon before a death metal riff comes thundering down from the blackened sky.

Along this introspective journey into the night, Kátai welcoms many familiar faces from across Thy Catafalque’s varied discography.  Martina Veronika Horváth, Bálint Bokodi,  Zoltán Kónya and  Ivett and Gábor Dudás accompany him with soothing cleans and fearsome growls, while his bass grooves are rounded out by drummer Árpád Szenti and guitarists Krisztián Varga and Zoltán Vigh.

New fans and long-time appreciators can now rediscover just how much Thy Catafalque has grown.

Season of Mist is repressing Thy Catafalque’s ninth album. Naiv ventures across jazz, Western classical, Middle Eastern music and even contemporary pop, ending up with some of the group’s most beloved songs, including “Tsitsushka” and “Embersólyom”.

The third-pressing of Naiv comes out February 6, 2026 on Season of Mist.

Tamás Kátai has a vision that extends beyond borders and boundaries. Even during its infancy, Thy Catafalque had already outgrown the rather rigid guidelines of black metal. Though only intended for the studio, over the past 20 years, his recording project has evolved into a lively collaboration. With each album, Thy Catafalque has pushed the envelope of extreme metal a step further, bringing the world’s most vile art form into conversation with the avant-garde.

Thy Catafalque’s twelfth album is even more expansive, but XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek ties both to its mastermind’s past and the history of his native Hungary. “For this album, I felt it was time to move in a different direction, whatever that direction might be”, Kátai says, “but XII still possesses the dreaminess that I’ve always associated with Thy Catafalque”.

Of course, Kátai hasn’t been mulling over this album for too long. Keeping in line with his prolific pace, XII arrives just one year after his previous album. Named after the stretch of land where the producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist was born in southeast Hungary,  Alföld returned to the heaviness from which Thy Catafalque took root during the late ’90s. Once again, Kátai set out to make a straightforward metal record, but while there’s plenty of cause for chest-pounding, A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek ended up taking him on another surreal headtrip.

“I think of this album as an introspective journey through the night”, Kátai says. Opener “Piros kocsi, fekete éj” (which in English means “Red Carriage, Black Night”) glides off through a warm mist of piping keys, led by twin engine guitars that crest with reverb. “Time clatters on the rails”. Attila Bakos sings in Hungarian. His voice beams over the airwaves with the same clean force as 15 years ago, when he helped lift Thy Catafalque out of the Hungarian underground on the recently reissued Róka hasa rádió.

“Attila also sang on Rengeteg“, Kátai remembers about the first Thy Catafalque album that he wrote and recorded by himself. “‘Piros kocsi, fekete éj’ has the same sense for melody. It opens the album with a feeling of nostalgia”.

Of course, many other familiar faces join Kátai on his journey. After all, Thy Catafalque started as a duo with János Juhász. A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek features the biggest guest list in the project’s long discography. More than 20 guest musicians appear on this album, including old friends from inside and outside the Hungarian metal scene. Martina Veronika Horváth — whose band The Answer Lies in the Black Void toured Europe with Thy Catafalque earlier in 2024 — duets with the tender brooding Gábor Dudás for a faithful rendition of “Lydiához”, a 1980 Sebő ensemble classic that sowed the seeds for Hungary’s roots revival.

“That is a song that’s been with me and the rest of my generation ever since we were children”, Kátai says. Violins, cello, clarinet and other classical instruments add to the comforts of home. Before it drifts off high beyond the clouds, “Vakond” strings along like a whistling stroll across The Great Plains. “Alföld was very bleak”, he continues. “Adding classical and acoustic instruments helped add a spring of color and an air of adventure to these new songs”.

Still, A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek can be a hard road — especially during its crushing middle section. Despite the gentle opening plucks, “Mindenevő” crashes down like a boulder, hurtling ahead at terrifying speed behind doomy operatic backing vocals, mechanized blast beats and the eerie fires of tremolo picking that forged Thy Catafalque’s debut Sublunary Tragedies. “This album still has plenty of metal”, Kátai assures.

The heaviest moments are often grounded in Hungary’s history. While colored by nostalgia, XII is also shadowed by the ticking hands of time, a theme that ripples back to 2021’s Vadak. Blackened chugger “Vasgyár” shares a namesake with the rusted-out ironworks that once fueled the country’s economy. It’s not a political statement, but the song does reflect how the landscape has changed to the eye of the now 48-year-old Kátai.

“Even the album’s visuals are from a bygone era”, he says. In the video for its title track, closing song and lead single, Kátai doesn’t just run through the streets of his hometown. Surreal scenes from the past and present linger along his winding path through the placid countryside. Watching his doppelgänger dig his own grave feels like a living nightmare. “‘This song comes from a place of desperation”, he says. “Within the afterglow of nostalgia, there’s also the chill of disappointment”.

Ultimately, the progressive flair that has come to define Thy Catafalque shines through the darkness on album twelve. Only this time around, in order to reach the light at the end of the tunnel, Kátai needed some guidance. “I felt like the production had largely been the same since Geometria“, he admits. XII marks the first time in the project’s history that he worked with an outside producer. Granted, Gábor Vári is no stranger to how his mind works. When he’s not holed away in the studio with other prominent Hungarian metal bands, Gábor could be seen hammering away at his guitar on stage with Thy Catafalque on the live album Mezolit. “He was the perfect person to help give this album a somewhat different sound that is still familiar”.

As a result, “A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek” stands out as one of Thy Catafalque’s biggest crowd pleasers, uplifted by hand claps and catchy, fist-pumping riffs. Even the dark waves of synth glow with the reassurance of the dawn. “At the end, there’s still hope for a future that might offer warmer days after the darkness has ceded”.

Thy Catafalque’s twelfth album looks back longingly at the past, but Tamás Kátai isn’t stopping to smell the roses. With A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek, he shows that the beautiful dreams are yet to come. 2025 will see Thy Catafalque make their debut on the world’s biggest stages – from Hellefest and Kilkim Žaibu  to Rockstadt Extreme and Alcatraz Festival – before embarking on their first-ever tour of Latin America.

Extreme death metal masters INFERI will be unleashing its latest studio album, ‘Heaven Wept,’ on April 10, 2026 via The Artisan Era! To celebrate the forthcoming record, the band is now pleased to share the pummeling first single, “The Rapture of Dead Light,” along with a music video!

The clip sees INFERI vocalist Stevie Boiser, guitarist/vocalist Malcolm Pugh, guitarist Sanjay Kumar, and new drummer Nate Bigelow embark on an Indiana Jones style quest for the elusive Bigfoot. Watch the band square off with the battle-jacket wearing and headbanging entity to find out if their intricate riffs are a match for the enigmatic beast at THIS LOCATION.

INFERI comments, “We’re proud to announce our 2026 release, ‘Heaven Wept,’ marking the longest gap between albums since our return in 2014.

This album came together under challenging circumstances—after the departure of Mike Low (guitar), we had to completely rewrite material. We then brought Sanjay Kumar (Wormhole / Equipoise) into the fold and the process began anew. With Andrew Kim’s exit to join Brand of Sacrifice, Malcolm stepped in to perform bass duties.

Heaven Wept is also the final album with Spencer Moore (drums) before he moved on to Archspire. We decided to work with Mike Low again for recording, mixing, and mastering. His deep understanding of our approach made him the perfect partner to help us refine our sound with the new lineup.

The result is our most crushing and diverse material yet—an album that pushes INFERI to new extremes while staying true to the melodic and technical foundation we’ve always built upon.”

‘Heaven Wept’ can be pre-order and pre-saved HERE.

The album artwork was created by Helge C. Balzer.

Since the explosive success of Inferi’s critically-acclaimed and chart topping 2018 full-length, ‘Revenant,’ the death metal battalion has continued to relentlessly churn like a raging maelstrom, dominating everything in its wake with the band’s melodic and virtuosic approach to the genre. ‘Heaven Wept’ picks up where 2021’s ‘Vile Genesis’ left off, putting forth the same mind-bending compositions and other-worldly musicianship that has set the band apart from their contemporaries. Inferi has risen to become a dominant force among modern American death metal acts since their reunion in 2011. ‘Heaven Wept’ is a master class in progressive extremity and is certain to make its mark as one of the greatest death metal offerings of this decade.

INFERI U.S. Date 2026:
06/13: Denver, CO @ Flatline Festival

Formed in 2006, INFERI is an American technical melodic death metal band forged from the depths of Nashville, Tennessee. After reforming in 2011, INFERI emerged onto the global stage with ‘The Path of Apotheosis’ in 2014. Followed by the acclaimed 2018 release ‘Revenant,’ which landed at #26 Hard Rock albums and #28 on the Billboard’s Heatseekers charts, solidifying them as a household name in the underground technical death metal scene. Touring across the world with bands such Rivers of Nihil, Archspire, Shadow of Intent, Cryptopsy, Signs of the Swarm, Brand of Sacrifice, Deicide and Revocation allowed INFERI to continue on their upward trajectory. Creeping their way up the charts, and into the minds of new fans with ‘The End of an Era: Rebirth’ in 2019, their ‘Of Sunless Realms’ EP in 2020, and 2021’s ‘Vile Genesis.’ Now in 2026 INFERI stands ready to unleash their most devastating album to date, ‘Heaven Wept’.
