Steve Di Giorgio & Jeroen Paul Thesseling’s QUADVIUM Unleash Debut Album “Tetradōm”, Out Now

The prog/metal-fusion quartet QUADVIUM offers advance stream of its debut studio album “Tetradōm” due out May 30th on Agonia Records. Half in California and half in the Netherlands, the band was launched by acclaimed bassists Steve Di Giorgio (Testament, Death) and Jeroen Paul Thesseling (Obscura, Pestilence). They’re accompanied by guitarist Eve Smith (Myth Of I, Kaathe) and drummer Yuma van Eekelen (Our Oceans, Pestilence), who bring their talent and expertise to this unique, bass-oriented perspective.

Enjoy the album in full, here:

Steve Di Giorgio and Jeroen Paul Thesseling are both innovators in bringing a different style of fretless bass playing to metal. Launching a band with two predominantly multi-string fretless bass players is no common occurrence, and the bass-duo felt they needed to take very special and deliberate time to get the right alignment with who is participating and what will be the end result – meaning the right sound and composition to represent this rare vision.

Over time, together with Dutch master drummer Yuma van Eekelen (Our Oceans, Pestilence) and American guitar virtuoso/composer Eve (Myth Of I, Kaathe) – whose contribution and expertise play a huge part of QUADVIUM – the music began to take shape. The line-up is just the right blend to mix the delicate balance of such a heavy aural offering and a full vocabulary of high level constructed pieces.

“We had an intention many many years ago to make some music together… to feature two predominately multistring fretless bass players playing in duet form,” Steve & Jeroen reflect. “That is to say, neither being «rhythm bass & lead bass» nor some trading off hot solo licks mess. But easier said than done! While hanging out, we exchanged some thoughts about how it would be to form a group to support our bass-ic needs. At that time it was just a spontaneous idea, but over the years the topic was brought up again and again. This vision was blurry at best and it took us a long time to not only imagine how to feature the bass in this way, but more importantly – who would share in this concept with us. Yuma is an old acquaintance and lucky for us, he needed this project to add to his list of a thousand others! But having a drummer that understood that 2 bass players would be filling the sonic spectrum, he was undaunted in contributing the backbone as well as keeping our outlandish ideas in check. After a long search for the next musician, a gold mine was found on Instagram reels by the name of Eve. Some of the most insane guitar (and bass!) videos we ever saw inspired us to ask if this was a project worth joining… not only did we have our final member aboard, but a studio genius and the main composer of this strategy we had so long ago, who brought it all together and focused everything into the album we are so proud to share with you now. Thanks to the solid support from Agonia Records for supporting our dream and making this album a reality! Fans of instrumental progressive metal fusion – and fretless bass! – will surely enjoy these musical journeys.”

“Tetradōm” was recorded and produced by Eve and co-produced by Yuma van Eekelen. The album was mastered by Dereck Blackburn at Quiethouse Recording. Travis Smith (Amorphis, King Diamond, Cynic) created the album’s artwork and layout.

GRAVE WITH A VIEW Premiere New Video for ‘The Lash’

In the long hours of the night, when the weight of existence becomes unbearable and there is no god, no salvation and no light, GRAVE WITH A VIEW return to deliver another cut to the soul. The Finnish purveyors of Anti-Life Black Metal Misery have unveiled a new video for “The Lash”, now streaming exclusively via No Clean Singing.

Watch “The Lash” at THIS LOCATION.

Originally released as part of last year’s devastating full-length “Raw Illumination” (Dusktone), “The Lash” is a sonic scourge, a sadistic, relentless track that strips the listener bare, exposing every wound and weakness to the cold. Unfolding with flaying riffs and pitiless vocal lacerations, the song captures the essence of GRAVE WITH A VIEW’s desolate vision: isolation, humiliation, grief, and the slow corrosion of the self. Now, its harrowing power is made flesh in a visual companion as stark and unrelenting as the music itself.

“Raw Illumination” marked the band’s most intense and harrowing work to date. From the shattered ice of “Cold Flesh Peregrination” to the funeral crawl of “Loathe”, the album offers no reprieve, only suffering. “The Lash” stands among its most punishing moments, embodying the violent spiral of internal collapse.

Recorded and mixed by O.H.R and mastered by Haldor Grunberg at Satanic Audio (Behemoth, Dopelord, Christ Agony), “Raw Illumination” is a precise and pitiless descent into mental ruin.

The album’s artwork and layout, designed by Danny The Destroyer, utilizes striking, unsettling imagery of model Anna Iivana Julma, captured by the band themselves.

HELLFOX Unveil New Music Video ‘Atlas’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 31, 2025

Following the haunting release of “Seaweed Braids,” Italian all-female melodic death metal band Hellfox returns with a powerful new chapter: “Atlas,” the second single from their upcoming album “The Spectrum Of Human Gravity,” due out via Rockshots Records.

Combining heavy melodic death metal foundations with modern textures and acidic synths, “Atlas” is a crushing and introspective anthem. Lyrically, the song draws on the myth of the Titan condemned to bear the weight of the sky — a metaphor for the emotional burdens we carry and the silent expectations imposed by society. “We have no control over what happens around us,” the band explains, “but letting go of that weight may be the most liberating act of all.”

Hellfox’s music thrives on contrast: dual female vocals (melodic and growled), distorted layers, and atmospheric electronics merge into an emotional and immersive sound. With influences ranging from Amorphis and In Flames to Dark Tranquillity, the band has forged a distinctive identity that breaks away from traditional tropes, embracing vulnerability, rage, beauty, and discomfort in equal measure.

“The Spectrum of Human Gravity” is a conceptual journey into the depths of the human psyche. It explores difficult yet universal emotions—loneliness, self-doubt, alienation—through allegorical storytelling and striking visual metaphors. Each song gives voice to a different “face of the self,” capturing the chaos and coherence that define our inner worlds.

With “Atlas“, Hellfox once again demonstrates their ability to balance emotional weight with sonic power, delivering a track that is as crushing as it is cathartic.

Visually intense and emotionally charged, the video captures the psychological depth and inner conflict that define the song. With a dark and cinematic aesthetic, it mirrors the suffocating stillness of insomnia and the emotional weight we often carry in silence.

“We wanted the visuals to reflect that moment when everything feels heavy — and yet something inside pushes to break free,” the band explains.

The video reinforces Hellfox’s core message: embracing vulnerability without fear and finding power in the act of letting go.

ABOUT:

HELLFOX is an ALL FEMALE alternative metal (alt-metal) band with melodic death tendencies. Despite the four completely different musical backgrounds, we share a common inspiration to Amorphis, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity as far as composition is concerned, while for the choice of sounds we intended to move away from the Symphonic, recognizably feminine scenario to include acid and distorted synths so that we could create modern atmospheres that more closely met our tastes and better married the pop timbre of the melodic vocals. The dualism of HELLFOX is not meant to be understood on a conflicting level, it is instead the result of different voices within the human soul, different faces if you will, that mingle and generate the person itself, in its entirety, that although they seem to struggle, they coexist and create harmony and balance. We don’t use masks to conform to a mass, nor do we want to stand out at all costs, we just want to be ourselves in a society where normality is only a surface, the abyss instead is made up of so many facets of personality, both for the group and especially for the individual human being. Ours is a message within everyone’s reach, in which one can recognize oneself: that little voice in the head that either draws you in or drives you away… Because for us, nothing is normal, nothing is different.

While fans await the release of their highly anticipated album, Reversed Chakra breaks the silence with an evocative new single and video, “All the Way Down” — a mesmerizing dive into grief, memory, and emotional catharsis.

Unfolding with sparse, slow-burning instrumentation and haunting lyrical honesty, “All the Way Down” finds the band at their most stripped-back and soul-baring. It’s not just a song; it’s a reckoning. Fragmented moments—a walk with a father, a bridge hanging in time, an unresolved goodbye—collide to create an immersive soundscape where the listener is invited to let go, hold on, and feel everything in between.

The single is accompanied by a visually arresting music video, directed, edited, and shot by Shaun Hodson for Loki Films (Slipknot, Underoath, Sleep Token, Architects, Corey Taylor). The video mirrors the song’s introspective mood, offering a cinematic exploration of memory and release.

CULTURA TRES & JUANES Unite on New Metal Anthem ‘Cien’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 31, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: CULTURA TRES, JUANES. Leave a comment

CULTURA TRES, the South American metal powerhouse led by Sepultura’s Paulo XistoPinto Jr., joins forces with Latin music icon JUANES on a daring new collaboration: “Cien,” released on May 29, 2025, through ONErpm.

A seismic blend of thrash, grunge, and Colombian folklore, “Cien” evokes the spirit of ‘90s metal while honoring the rich musical traditions of Latin America. The track is as sonically heavy as it is emotionally evocative—rooted in themes of environmental loss, particularly the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest.

Not a surprising topic, considering these Colombian, Brazilian and Venezuelan musicians, are all from countries with the rainforest in their backyard.

“It’s a pleasure to share a song with Juanes, not only a legend of Latin music, but also a true heavy metal fan,” says Paulo Xisto.

“Man! It’s been a pleasure to make this song with you. Since my teenage years, metal has been a part of my essence, and having the opportunity to record the solo and sing has been amazing,” says JUANES.

Stream “CIEN”: https://music.culturatres.com/cien

A Cross-Cultural Creative Journey

The collaboration unfolded over six months, beginning with CULTURA TRES sending JUANES a batch of punk-infused riffs. When JUANES returned with haunting, psychedelic guitar additions, the song’s energy shifted entirely—prompting a complete rewrite of the original material. This creative back-and-forth resulted in a track that balances dark melodies with abrasive power.

“JUANES is an incredible metal guitarist—when we first heard his solo on ‘Cien,’ it blew us away,” says frontman Alejandro Montoya.

Originally drafted in English, the lyrics only truly resonated when the band followed Paulo’s suggestion to switch to Spanish. The change added a deeper sense of authenticity and emotional weight. The contrasting vocal styles—JUANES’ melancholic chants and Alejandro’s screaming vocals—reflect the song’s central tensions: beauty versus destruction, tradition versus progress.

“Blending metal and Latin music in one of our native languages (Spanish), helps showcase the power and potential of South American metal!” says Paulo.

Metal Meets Legacy: How It All Came Together

What may surprise casual fans is that JUANES—known worldwide for his Latin pop-rock hits—started his career in a metal band (Ekhymosis, 1988). His admiration for Sepultura and deep respect for Paulo’s legacy created a natural bridge for this collaboration. After one of JUANES’ shows in Amsterdam, Paulo and Alejandro were invited backstage, where they had a chance to check out JUANES’ newly released signature Fender guitar. Mutual admiration, shared roots, and even common crew members eventually led to exchanging riffs and ideas and “Cien” was born.

“Once a metalhead, always a metalhead,” says Paulo.

About CULTURA TRES

With members from Colombia, Brazil, and Venezuela, CULTURA TRES is a genre-defying metal act known for blending sludge, thrash, and traditional South American sounds. Their 2023 album Camino de Brujos (Universal Music) solidified their reputation across Europe, Japan, and Latin America as a truly innovative force in heavy music.

About JUANES

A global ambassador for Latin music, JUANES has earned 25 Latin Grammys, 4 Grammy Awards, and international acclaim for his signature fusion of rock, pop, and Latin folk. Beyond his music, he is a dedicated activist through his Fundación Mi Sangre, championing peace and social justice in Colombia and beyond.
