HEMELBESTORMER Release Second Single ‘Turms’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 28, 2025

Belgian post-doom quartet Hemelbestormer have just revealed a new single titled ‘Turms’, featuring Philip Jamieson of Caspian. Their upcoming album, The Radiant Veil, will be out on 25th July through Pelagic Records.

Pre-order The Radiant Veil here: https://orcd.co/hemelbestormer

On ‘Turms’, the band comments:
“‘Turms’ is without a doubt the leading track and beating heart of the album. Hemelbestormer is known as a pure instrumental band, but this track will surprise you, as Phil from Caspian did some phenomenal and hauntingly beautiful sounding vocals for this track, lifting it to another level.“

Drummer Frederik Cosemans describes The Radiant Veil as “a journey through our solar system as perceived by the Etruscan civilization. Each track bears the name of a planet in the old Etruscan language, starting with the Sun (Usil) and ending with Saturn (Satre).“

For fans of: ISIS, Neurosis, The Ruins of Beverast, Year of No Light

Hemelbestormer has been a commanding entity in the heavy music scene for over ten years, with their idiosyncratic take on the merger of post-rock, doomgaze, and black metal. Made up of veterans from the Belgian hardcore and metal community, the four-piece from Hasselt create intricate sonic journeys through space and time built over punishing riffs and spine-chilling climaxes. With their fourth full-length album, The Radiant Veil, Hemelbestormer take their songwriting and production to new heights, honouring their name as trailblazers on the intersection of dark and light, the crushingly heavy and the hauntingly beautiful.

Having appeared at many of Europe’s finest music festivals – from Roadburn festival to Dunk! festival to Graspop Metal Meeting – Hemelbestormer feel right at home on stages with a wide variety of heavy and experimental acts. The road combining ethereal post-rock with seething black metal has been travelled by many groups, but with Hemelbestormer, that winding path has taken a different turn. Facing away from shoegaze or indie rock influences, the band finds a more sophisticated way of incorporating unsettling melodies, blast beats, and lo-fi synthesizers to emulate the dark void of space and eerie cold light of stars.

Powered by HM-2 pedals and a Lovecraft-ian use of retro synths, The Radiant Veil is driven by an old-school mentality that appears both learned and sincere. Produced by main songwriter Filip Dupont alongside drummer Frederik Cosemans, the eerie space noises coalesce like a celestial respiration between the bouts of metallic riffing and tremolo-picked riffs.

Album opener ‘Usil’ is a compositional masterpiece from start to finish, combining seismic riffing with ice-cold guitar leads, as if Russian Circles had been formed in a small Norwegian fishing village in the early 90s. Meticulously building up to a double kick-driven finale, the band carefully lays the groundwork for the following hour of transformative music.

Hemelbestormer is a sight to behold on stage, and with The Radiant Veil, they penetrate deeper than ever into the farthest reaches of their sonic space ethos. Once more, the Belgians capture the cavernous expanse between the cold lights of the universe, but also our power as humans to explore it, proving their mastery as storytellers in sight and sound.

CHRIS POLAND Collaborates with TANTRIC on Cover of STARBUCK’s 1976 Hit ‘Moonlight Feels Right’

As the rock world continues girding its loins in anticipation of Cleopatra’s genre-crushing Yacht Metal collection, the mind-melting union of Louisville grunge masters Tantric and former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland flies out of the blocks with a no-holds-barred assault upon Starbuck’s 1976 hit “Moonlight Feels Right.”

No relation, of course, to the coffee chain of the same name, Starbuck sprang out of Atlanta GA in 1974 and, two years later, “Moonlight Feels Right” landed them at #3 on the Billboard charts with their very first single.  The song also titled the first of their three albums.

But it really didn’t sound like this!

Yacht Metal itself is fast shaping up as one of the most audacious compilations of the year, bringing together a boat load of metal icons to pay tribute to one of the most beloved (if, among many fans, most unexpectedly-so) genres in the entire classic rock spectrum.

Rainbow alumni Joe Lynn Turner, Graham Bonnet and Bob Daisley; Marcus Nand, Bumblefoot, Cherie Currie (Runaways), Mick Box (Uriah Heep), BulletBoys, Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest) and Vinnie Moore (UFO) are among the heavy metal heavyweights to have climbed aboard the album, anchoring themselves to such Yacht Rock staples as “Kiss You All Over” (Exile), Takin’ It To The Streets” (the Doobie Brothers), “Magnet and Steel” (Walter Egan with Stevie Nicks) and, of course, the song that might well have launched the Yacht Rock phenomenon in the first place, Rupert Holmes’ “Escape (The Piña Colada Song).”

And, of course, it goes without saying that anybody stumbling into Yacht Metal without truly considering the ramifications of the title is in for one helluva shock… one glance at this latest single’s cover art proves that.  Yacht Rock means a lot of things to a lot of people, but werewolves (for whom, of course, moonlight really does feel right!) probably aren’t among them.

One listen, however, suggests that they could be.

Released earlier this Spring on Metal Blade Records, WHITECHAPEL‘s Hymns In Dissonance earned the #2 position on Billboard’s Current Hard Rock Albums chart, #3 on Independent Label Current Albums chart, #4 on the Current Rock Albums chart and #7 on the Digital Albums chart upon its first week of release.

The record finds the band reinventing themselves, going darker, deeper, and heavier than ever before. “We attempted to write our heaviest album to date,” says guitarist Alex Wade. “We wanted to put out something that was shockingly menacing and brutal.”

Revolver lauded “a blistering attack of ground-fissuring blasts, terror-thrashed guitar melodies and guts-hucking mosh sections.” Metal Injection concurred noting, “it’s heavy as shit, it’s unrelenting, and it will destroy you.” MetalSucks championed, “one of WHITECHAPEL’s heaviest offerings since the glory days of The Somatic Defilement and This Is Exile,” adding, “It captures that same raw energy and mouth-frothing rage in a way that… hasn’t been seen for quite some time, but with a new and improved modern twist borne of the nearly twenty years of experience they have accumulated since then,” while Blabbermouth hailed the band’s “…white-knuckle, weaponized deathcore with brains, brawn, and a point to prove. Hold on to your helmets.“

CHANGELING Release Stop-Motion Video for ‘What World?’

CHANGELING, the progressive death metal project led by fretless guitar luminary Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschläger, unveil a stunning animated music video for the track “World? What World?”, a highlight track from the band’s debut album, Changeling, out now on Season of Mist.

Bridging chaotic intensity with theatrical grandeur, “World? What World?” captures a pivotal moment in the album’s psychedelic concept: the protagonist’s confrontation with repressed fears and subconscious horrors. Fueled by a whirlwind drum performance by Mike Heller (Fear Factory), a thunderous Wagnerian brass ensemble, and a gospel choir evoking Dark Side of the Moon, the track ascends from technical extremity into transcendent territory.

The song also features a guest guitar solo from legendary axeman Andy LaRocque (King Diamond, ex-Death), trading leads with Fountainhead in a climactic fusion of virtuosic shred and eerie atmospherics. The visual accompaniment, rendered in animated/stop-motion style, vividly brings the nightmarish visions of the song’s lyrics to life.

Changeling is out now via Season of Mist.

Order & Stream now: https://orcd.co/changelingchangeling

Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschläger unveiled an ambitious series of Changeling transcription books—available now. There are three editions: Guitar Transcriptions, meticulously transcribed by Tom himself; Bass Transcriptions, crafted by Arran McSporran; and the expansive Complete Transcriptions, an all-encompassing collection featuring every single note performed on the album. This includes guitar, bass, drums (transcribed by Fenix Gayed), all orchestral arrangements, vocals, lyrics, and detailed liner notes written by Tom, offering rare insights into the compositional process.

The Guitar and Bass books launched alongside the album on April 25th, with the Complete Transcriptions score book to follow in June. All editions will be available in physical format as well as digital (PDF and Guitar Pro), Each print version also includes a free download of its corresponding digital edition.

Fuelled by fierce, flaming riffs and scorching melodies, the song delivers its theme with full force. The drums and bass keep the engine roaring, driving the track forward with unstoppable energy”.

“Plastic Heart” is a musical outburst against deceptive, fake, and snakelike personalities – especially those who hide their true intentions behind a guise of kindness”, they added. “This is the song to get you pumped up for the summer season, igniting any festivity with its aggressive, untamed and raw energy”.

Hailing from Vantaa, Finland, Shiraz Lane started their musical journey in 2011. Their vision of a perfect blend of sonic combustion and elegant delicacy started to blossom and reach its potential when the current line-up was solidified in 2014 and the band released their first EP “Be The Slave Or Be The Change”.

The band gained great international attention from the very beginning, and soon the young Finns
were flying from Japan to South America, playing in Europe’s coolest clubs & summer festivals and had their warm first contact also with the US audience on the Monsters of Rock cruise.

Shiraz Lane resonates through their double-edged guitar sound (provided by Jani Laine and Miki
Kalske), percussive ground-pounding clockwork (Ana Vilkkumaa, drums & Joel Alex, bass) and the supersonic melodies chanted by lead singer Hannes Kett. They are one of the most intriguing and entertaining bands in the current Hard Rock scene, bringing in a fresh breeze in terms of both compositions and live performance.

In addition to their debut EP, other most notable releases include the albums “For Crying Out Loud”, “Carnival Days”, “Vibration I”, “Forgotten Shades Of Life” and “Acoustic Archives’’.

Although wearing inspiration and paying homage to their predecessors, the sound and style of Shiraz Lane is unique, bold and contemporary. This has manifested in collaborations such as extensive international touring (sharing stages with bands such as KISS, Deep Purple, H.E.A.T &
Crashdïet), national TV appearances, the gaming world and, most importantly, an exponentially growing & dedicated fanbase around the world.

As the mighty IRON MAIDEN embarks on their epic 50th Anniversary Tour, rising heavy metal torchbearers VEIL OF THE SERPENT unleash a thunderous tribute to the gods of metal with their bold and brooding cover of “Wasting Love“.

Originally released on MAIDEN’s Fear Of The Dark album in 1992, “Wasting Love” stands as one of the band’s most emotive and haunting tracks – a fitting choice for VEIL OF THE SERPENT, whose signature sound fuses modern heaviness with classic metal spirit.

VEIL OF THE SERPENT’s version reimagines the ballad through a darker, doom-laced lens, amplifying the song’s themes of love, loss and longing, while staying true to the essence that made it iconic. The single lands as IRON MAIDEN kickoff their Run For Your Lives World Tour, and VEIL OF THE SERPENT’s tribute serves as a fitting companion to the festivities – a salute from a new generation of metal faithful who continue to carry the torch.

VEIL OF THE SERPENT‘s “Wasting Love” is available now across all major streaming platforms. And the band also unveiled a striking lyric video, now live on YouTube.

About the band:
VEIL OF THE SERPENT was forged in 2021 by guitarist Gene and his son Felix. United by blood and their obsession for heavy metal, the duo began plotting their thundering assault in 2020. What began as a vision quickly evolved into a full-scale sonic onslaught with the arrival of powerhouse vocalist JD, completing their unholy trinity. Together, they channel the raw, unyielding spirit of metal, delivering a sound that’s both brutal and haunting, destined to leave a lasting scar on the heavy music landscape.

VEIL OF THE SERPENT is:
JD – Vocals
Gene – Guitars
Felix – Drums
