Hispanic metal conquistadors IMPUREZA are cracking open the gates of their upcoming, Reconquista-themed third album with a contagious new single.

Alcázares charts medieval Spain’s struggle between Christian kingdoms and Muslim-ruled Al-Andalus through a mythical lens. The album’s lead single, “Pestilencia”, zooms in on the Black Death’s march across Hispania. Riffing tremolos and hammer-blown blast beats lock horns with bulería-tinged acoustic guitar, unforgivingly precise fretless bass runs and orchestral flourishes that flare upon castle stone. The song’s video, which was captured on historic Spanish sites, turns its apocalyptic lyrics into a torch-lit, rat‑infested tableaux.

Alcázares comes out July 11, 2025. Pre-order & pre-save at https://orcd.co/impurezaalcazares

For more than two decades, Impureza have lead the charge for Hispanic Metal. The band forge together brutal death metal, flamenco guitar and Spanish vocals. Wielding their Iberian identity like a blade, they’ve left their mark on the underground metal scene and conquered international stages. Now, with Alcázares, they are plunging into the bloody saga of the Spanish Reconquista.

Tracklist:
1. Verdiales (1:15)
2. Bajo las Tizonas de Toledo (6:25)
3. Covadonga (4:01)
4. Pestilencia (4:44) [WATCH]
5. Reconquistar Al-Ándalus (5:25)
6. Murallas (2:24)
7. La Orden del Yelmo Negro (4:57)
8. Castigos Eclesiásticos (6:06)
9. El Ejército de los Fallecidos de Alarcos (5:18)
10. Ruina del Alcázar (1:37)
11. Santa Inquisición (6:26)
Full runtime: 49:02

IMPUREZA is a Franco-Spanish metal band formed in 2004 by guitarist Lionel Cano Muñoz from Orléans. Their music is distinguished by a unique fusion of extreme metal and Spanish sounds inspired by Andalusian culture and flamenco, creating an atypical style known as Hispanic Metal. Impureza remains an innovative project in the international metal scene, making it a pioneer of the genre.

The entire concept of the band revolves around the voluptuousness of Latin atmospheres, the ferocity of metal, and Spanish culture and history, explored through a fictional and esoteric aspect. Their compositions feature both clean and guttural vocals sung in the language of Cervantes, flamenco guitar, acoustic fretless bass, extreme metal, and orchestral arrangements that evoke the colors of Spain. The very essence of their music lies in the duality between two seemingly opposed musical genres, which, through clever composition, give birth to a new and avant-garde style. Their fiery music is literally the union of traditional Hispanic folklore and extreme metal. These metal warriors brandish their Iberian sounds as weapons with pride. This ingenious alliance is matched only by the singular and unprecedented creative originality of its founder Lionel Cano Muñoz and his compañero Esteban Martín, both of Spanish nationality. Impureza’s conquistadors draw inspiration from their strong identity, which defines the band’s very essence. Often nicknamed the “French Nile” due to their primary influences, combining the complex and brutal lines of death metal with the most ardent and undulating Latin flames. Impureza’s members are also influenced by many Spanish artists such as flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía and gypsy singer Camarón de la Isla, as well as bands like Behemoth, Morbid Angel, Krisiun, and Fleshgod Apocalypse, among others.

Let the conquistadors of Impureza lead you into their realm and immerse you in Spanish culture with a groundbreaking musical concept — the one and only fierce guardians of Hispanic Metal!

Expect Action When the Mighty THOR Meets… MERV GRIFFIN

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 16, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: MERV GRIFFIN, Thor. Leave a comment

Long ago and far away, an aspiring young Canadian rocker named John Thor was performing at Las Vegas’s newly refurbished Aladdin Hotel, in the Bicentennial-themed Red Hot and Blue show… the Strongman Star, they called him, and with good reason.

A champion body builder, becloaked and be-glittered, exploding hot water bottles with his breath alone, wielding a hammer and bathed in pyrotechnics, even veteran rock fans (and yes, that includes the KISS army) had never seen anything like Thor.

And neither had America at large, at least until this vision in muscle and mayhem turned up on the Merv Griffin show in June 1976, to perform a cover of a recent single by UK glam rockers The Sweet that itself might have been written for him.  It was called “Action,” and it was killer.

Thor recalls, “Merv saw me perform at the Aladdin Hotel and invited me to appear on his show, live from Caesars Palace.”

It was a stunning appearance, although Thor acknowledges that things did not go quite to plan. For the last few years he had been touring with fellow Canadians The Imps – so-called, he says, because they were “small characters. During the show, I would hold Frank Soda up with one hand and dance while he played his lead guitar break midway through ’Action,’ which was our signature tune.”  (Another crowd pleaser was when Thor would have bricks broken on his chest with a sledgehammer.)

Although Thor performed without the band in Vegas, he requested that The Imps also appear on the Griffin show. “I would fly them out from Canada. But Merv said an emphatic ‘no,’ as he felt the band was too heavy for prime time. So the Mort Lindsey Orchestra backed me up instead.”

Another misfortune, however, proved most providential.  “I was set to wear my white sequined jacket for the Griffin show, an Elvis-looking outfit which was popular in Vegas at the time. But just before the show, the jacket went missing. Possibly stolen, so I switched over to my unique stars and stripes glam superhero outfit, complete with hammer and cape. And I’m glad I did, because it established and represented the Thor character I was developing. It got showcased on national TV.”

So yes, long ago and far away. But “Action” not only retains its place in Thor’s heart, it also opens his new album Rock The Universe, and it’s his latest single as well.  Which is great news for everyone because the accompanying video – you guessed it!

Clips from the Griffin show are cut throughout the video, but so is footage of today’s Thor taking another step back into the past by reuniting with Frank Soda.  “It’s an opportunity to make things right, many years later. It imagines that Frank and the Imps appear in Las Vegas and join me on stage, this time to see what it might have been like had we done this back in 1976.”

SINGLE: https://orcd.co/thor_ action

As for Rock The Universe itself, the action does not end with “Action.”  Eleven tracks, all covers, range across the the classic rock spectrum, from an impassioned take on Eric Burdon’s epic “Sky Pilot” and The Doors’ “Love Me Two Times,” to a spellbinding medley of Deep Purple’s “Highway Star” and “Black Night,” and a raucously riffing take on The Yardbirds’ “Heart Full Of Soul.”

“In the 1970s I toured extensively, over 300 days a year across North America, and Rock The Universe is chock-full of songs from that era. These are favorite songs of mine that we played each night, and thus enabled myself and the band to become seasoned performers.

“It also gave me the opportunity, almost 50 years later, to join forces again with Frank Soda to lay down those magical tracks we played live from yesteryear, that would fuel our tours. Songs by our heroes.”  Kevin Stuart Swain (who also produced the album), Al Harlow (Prism) and Ray Roper (Stonebolt) complete the line-up, and when Thor describes their performances as “stellar,” it’s not hyperbole.

A thunderous take on The Beatles’s “Back In The USSR” is as fab as the foursome that performed the original; and, in case anyone should need a break from the mayhem,Thor also takes on one of the most underrated ballads in Ray Davies’s entire Kinky kanon, the 1966 b-side “I’m Not Like Everybody Else.”

Another one, incidentally, that could have been written for him. “Since I was a child, I was never looked at by others as being normal. I loved Superheroes and would wear a Superman costume underneath my regular clothes at school. And change into Superman at recess. I also loved monsters and I would scare my nieces and nephews as I would transform myself into Frankenstein. Through my life, I was always regarded as “different”.

“During my whole life walking the earth, I never followed the beaten path. I was always defiant, non-conforming and plainly different from the rest. I have always seemed to find my own individual identity. So “I’m Not Like Everybody Else” is my anthem.

“After all how many of those classmates from school still wear Superhero costumes and put out albums at 72 years old?”

Following previously-released singles, “Shotgun Rider” and “Wicked Hearts”, today, Austrian glam metal rockers Mädhouse present a new music video for their latest, furious single “We Run Riot!”

The song is taken off the band’s much-awaited new studio album “Plead The Fifth”, that is slated for a release on July 11, 2025 through ROAR. “Plead The Fifth” will be available on CD, limited Vinyl (incl. signed photocard) and in Digital formats, to pre-order your copy visit: https://madhouse.rpm.link/pleadthe5thPR

About the new single, guitarist Mikky Stixx comments: “It’s about cohesion in society. We are loud, we are strong and we will never be told what to say. It’s a big middle finger to governments, politicians and all the bourgeoisie who want to tell others how to live! – You hear our sound of rage from miles away…We run riot!”

Stream “We Run Riot” now on https://madhouse.rpm.link/riotPR

Formed in 2017 by Mikky Stixx, Mädhouse‘s origins trace back to a spontaneous Hard N’ Heavy show, where 18 rock musicians gathered, leading to the band’s creation. Drawing inspiration from legendary acts like Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, and Ratt, Mädhouse blends the raw energy of classic glam metal with a modern hard rock edge. Their sound is unmistakable—gritty riffs, anthemic choruses, and an unapologetic attitude that demand attention. Since their debut, the band has continuously evolved while staying true to their wild, rebellious spirit.

Their first album “Money Talks Bullshit Walks” (2019), introduced their high-energy style, followed by “Bad Habits” (2021), a more polished and aggressive follow-up. They further refined their sound with “Down ‘N’ Dirty” (2022), and now, their latest release, “Plead The Fifth”, pushes the boundaries even further with heavier riffs, bolder lyrics, and an electrifying presence!

Known for their explosive live performances and larger-than-life stage presence, Mädhouse continues to captivate audiences worldwide. The current line-up features Tommy Lovelace on vocals, Mikky Stixx and Thommy Black on guitars and backing vocals, Rickey Dee on bass, and Bobby B Bastard on drums. Together, they keep the spirit of glam metal alive, delivering high-octane rock that never backs down. With “Plead The Fifth”, they prove once again that glam metal is far from dead — it’s louder, bolder, and wilder than ever. Turn up the volume, join the madness, and let rock ‘n’ roll reign!

DOUBLE VISION Announce Self-Titled Album of All Original Material, Out July 11th

Having made their name as a Foreigner tribute band, DOUBLE VISION is now seeing the way clear to launch a brand new album of all original tunes. This self-titled full-length will hit the streets on July 11, 2025, via the mighty Frontiers Music Srl.

About the new album, DOUBLE VISION comments:

“We wanted to make a record that would be totally our own, but still contain a hat tip (or more) to Foreigner. We didn’t want something derivative, but at the same time, something that would appeal to fans of the band. We wanted our own identity and stamp. However, we do feel that a good way to describe the album is that if you took all the different eras of Foreigner and rolled them into one, along with some other sporadic influences, it would sound something like DOUBLE VISION.”

To celebrate the announcement, DOUBLE VISION shares the first single from the album, “No Fool for Love.” The track is accompanied by a music video as well.

The band adds this note about “No Fool for Love”:

“This song is pure melodic rock joy – when we wrote this song, I knew it was going to be the single. It’s about that girl that’s simply unreachable – we’ve all been there or had that feeling. And she’s just been put on a pedestal, and she won’t fall for your tricks, but that’s something that’s kinda enjoyable in song.”

Born as a Foreigner tribute band in the United States, DOUBLE VISION honed their craft performing to lively and sold-out crowds up and down the East Coast and across the country, soon becoming a real live attraction. With a lineup boasting some of New York City’s top professional rock musicians and well-known faces of the scene, including dynamic frontman and singer Chandler Mogel (Outloud, Jeff Waters’ Amerikan Kaos, Punky Meadows, etc.), super drummer Scott Duboys (ex-Warrior Soul) and bass player Scott Metaxas (ex-Prophet) as well as guitar virtuosos Chris Schwartz and Paul Baccash, and keyboard maestro Alex Lubin, DOUBLE VISION recently considered working on their own music, still owing a debt and strong influence to the Foreignersound.

Gathering the immediate interest of the Frontiers label, which supported the band’s plans, with the release of their self-titled album, DOUBLE VISION now makes its foray into the world of original music. While they showed they are truly second to none at recreating the masterful songs Foreigner fans worldwide have come to love, DOUBLE VISION now enters the second phase of their career, primed and ready to establish a strong foothold in the melodic rock realm with an album that truly recreates the magic of the 80’s rock vibe with a contemporary take.

NEUROTOX to Release New Studio Album ‘Könige Der Nacht’ on August 1st

NEUROTOX are set to release their 7th studio album ‘Könige Der Nacht’ on 1 August on Metalville.

With their seventh studio album ‘Könige der Nacht’ (Kings Of The Night), NEUROTOX make an impressive return and prove once again why they are firmly established in the German-speaking punk rock scene. For over 12 years, the band has stood for honest, uncompromising punk rock – and that’s exactly what this album delivers: an intense and unembellished listening experience that gets under your skin.

The songs on ‘Könige der Nacht’ are like stories from real life – sometimes loud and angry, sometimes vulnerable and profound. Between rebellion and melancholy, the band explores the whole range of human emotions. Thematically, it’s about friendship, loyalty, betrayal, falling down and the irrepressible urge not to go under. NEUROTOX manages to combine personal experiences and social issues while remaining authentic.

Songs such as ‘Nichts zu verlieren ’, “Lebendig” and ‘Sorgenkind’ are powerful anthems that not only make you think, but also invite you to sing along and empathise. They combine driving guitar riffs with gripping lyrics and show the band’s raw energy in its purest form. But NEUROTOX can also do things differently: ‘Wie ich dich’ and ‘Versprochen ist Versprochen ’ strike a calmer note, but remain just as haunting and intense.

Musically, the album offers a successful mix of fast punk rock numbers and emotional mid-tempo pieces. NEUROTOX sound more mature in 2025 without denying their roots. They retain the toughness and honesty that their fans have appreciated for years, while at the same time continuing to develop.

‘Könige Der Nacht’ is more than just music – it’s an attitude to life. An outcry against resignation and an ode to those who go out at night in search of themselves. NEUROTOX show with this album that they are far from finished – on the contrary: they are on fire more than ever. Captivating, emotional and authentic – ‘Könige Der Nacht’ is a statement. For all those who still feel something!

THE RISEN DREAD Reveal New Single ‘The Day I Died’

Dublin-based metallers THE RISEN DREAD have unleashed their crushing new single “The Day I Died”, the second preview of their upcoming album “Death from Above”, set for release on June 13th, 2025 via Time To Kill Records.

Streaming: https://ffm.to/therisendread-the-day-i-died

The band commented:

“The song explores the unsettling reality of waking up to what seems like an ordinary day—only to unknowingly walk into death. There are no warnings, no signs, just the quiet inevitability of the end. Lyrically, the track captures the contrast between the routine of life and the sudden, unnoticed arrival of death. The music mirrors this tension, shifting between haunting melodies and crushing intensity, building an atmosphere of quiet dread before plunging into darkness. With its chilling perspective and powerful execution, ‘The Day I Died’ reflects on the fragility of existence, reminding us that the end often comes when we least expect it”.

Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Marco Mastrobuono (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance) at Bloom Studios in Guidonia, Rome, Italy, “Death from Above” marks a significant shift towards a heavier and more aggressive sound. While retaining their signature blend of intensity and melody, the band has incorporated stronger thrash metal and melodic death metal influences, seeking a sharper and more relentless edge.

Tracklist:

1. The Day I Died
2. In Fear We Trust
3. Endgame Symphony
4. Circle of the Damned
5. Azadi
6. Death From Above
7. Burn My Angels
8. A Conversation With God
9. Slay
10. Beyond My Final Breath

THE RISEN DREAD is a metal band from Dublin, Ireland. Since forming in 2019, they have risen from the Irish underground scene to become an international touring act, earning a reputation for their intense sound and energetic live performances.

Their debut EP, “Delusions” (2019), introduced them to the scene and set the stage for their first full-length album, “Night Hag”, released in January 2022. Written and recorded during the global pandemic, the album showcased the band’s evolution and featured guest appearances, including Andreas Kisser of Sepultura on the single “White Night”.

THE RISEN DREAD has made its mark on major stages, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2022 and joining Vader and Marduk for the United Titans tour across Europe and the UK.

In 2024, with the release of the single “Betrayal” and an extensive South American tour—playing in Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil—the band continued to expand its reach.
